Stuck in hboot. - HTC One Mini 2

Hello,
i've got a Mini 2 here that is stuck in the Bootloader. The Bootloader is relocked, tampered and S-ON.
I somehow can't unlock it:
Code:
>_ fastboot flash unlocktoken Unlock_code.bin
Passwort:
sending 'unlocktoken' (0 KB)... OKAY
writing 'unlocktoken'... INFOunlock token check successfully
OKAY
Now i get the usual warranty warning. I press Vol+ and then Power to continue. Now at the top of the screen there is the message "Loading Recovery…" written in pink and at the bottom there is another text about it beeing a dev build. Nothing happens, i already waited more than 10 Minutes.
In the background there is still the warranty dialog. I can restart the device with Vol- and then Plus ("No" and select) but it will stay in relocked mode.
Stuck in Bootloader means, that if try to boot the device it will show the red triangle with the exclamation mark on black background. The only thing that can be done is booting into hboot.
Recovery doesn't seem to work as well, if i choose it in hboot, the device will reboot in fastboot mode with a "Security Warning" bother at the top which will disappear as soon as i reboot again.
I've read in a case like this it would be an option to re-flash the stock fw so I tried this. I've got myself a signed stock fw (i don't got the link at hand, but i think i got it from here) and tried to flash it, but:
Code:

Now unlocking works again.
So i got an unlocked bootloader and TWRP installed. But there is no OS.
If i understand it correctly i could install the Stock ROM through adb sideload.
The problem is i don't know exactly what file i need. I already tried it with a file i got from the HTCdev site.
Code:
>_ adb sideload memul-3.4.0-g8151a5d.zip
Total xfer: 0.00x
On the TWRP Console it says
Code:
Installing '/sideload/package.zip'
But after a short while it just fails w/o an error message.
Am i trying to sideload the wrong file?
/E: Yeah i obviously did....wrong Version. But there is no file for 2.19 on HTCdev
Could someone here pleaaase help me? I need to get that thing up and running again.

Hi,
I have tried all this the same way with relocked boot loader andS-On it fails with the same error, remote not allowed, I had to resort to Nandroid back up which I found online, its completely stock.
I would advise you to flash the boot file and reflash TWRP recovery, then use Android Restore to get the phone working then flash stock recovery to get stock feel because with S-On and the latest version not available there is not much choice.

So, i flashed the bootfile via fastboot
Code:
>_ fastboot flash boot boot_signed.img
and also re-flashed TWRP
Code:
>_ fastboot flash recovery twrp-recovery-2.8.5.0.img
But how do i get the Nandroid backup on the device?
All instructions i could find assume an unbricked devices and copied the backup onto the device before rebooting to recovery.
This won't work either:
Code:
>_ adb push M8_MINI_UL_TWRP_Nandroid_2.19.401.2.rar /sdcard/
error: device unauthorized. Please check the confirmation dialog on your device.

Hi,
All instructions for Nandroid are here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-mini-2/general/stock-ruu-rom-recovry-htc-one-mini-2-t3250020
Basically, you have to download the Nandroid, extract the content on a PC and place them in the TWRP>Backup><Devicer Serial Number> folder in the SD card, then reboot in TWRP, perform a wipe for Dalvik, Cache, Data, System, Internal Storage and locate the backup and restore...all should go smoothly in about 2 minutes.

First of all, thanks for all your help. But I'm afraid I still could use a little hint or something.
In the Thread you linked to, you've wrote:
- PLACE THE EXTRACTED FILES IN TO THE TWRP>BACKUP<DEVICE SERIAL NUMBER> FOLDER
- RESTART THE DEVICE AND ENTER TWRP, CHOOSE RESTORE

But how am i supposed to put the extracted files into that folder if:
- I can't use MTP (I can enable it in TWRP, but it doesn't seem to work)
- nor can i use adb push (not authorized)
Maybe using an external SD Card would be a solution, but i don't have one handy right know.

Hi,
Sorry for the confusion, but I actually did mean using it with an SD Card, sorry did NOT mention, when you perform the backup in TWRP, it will create a backup folder in the SD rather than the device, then you have to place the extracted content of the Nandroid back in the very folder the TWRP made backup in and then thru TWRP perform a restore locating the backed up restore folder.

If your mainver is 2.30.405.1 you will need this RUU http://www.filefactory.com/file/c0a...5AU_3805.06.03.03_M_release_199308_signed.exe
You are using Windows, I gues. Follow this steps to install ADB and fastboot. (Extract the files to C:\Android like it says)
The next part should not be hard, since you already did this I gues. Run the RUU and when it is de-compressed to not press anyting and copy the rom.zip folder from your TEMP folder to C:\Android
Connect your phone to your pc/laptop in fastboot usb mode.
Open up cmd on your pc and use the following commands
cd C:\Android
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip rom.zip
That should work, because the same thing happend to me
Did Everything what you said..? But still i gets the same error message..

[Q] Unable to unroot device

Hi guys,
I need to send my phone back to HTC because of some microphone issues and I'm not able to get my device back to stock. The problem here is that there isn't a RUU available for my device. I've tried changing the CID from T-MOB101 to HTC__E11 in order to run a RUU that has that CID. This didn't work, is this because my radio doesn't match the RUU?
M7_UL PVT SHIP S-OFF RH
CID - HTC__E11
HBOOT - 1.44.0000
RADIO - 4D.14.3250.26
OPENDSP - v26.120.274.0202
EMMC - boot
The bootloader is also tampered and unlocked at the moment.
Is it possible to go back to stock using a nandroid backup? If so, how should I do that, because i did found this (M7 TWRP Nandroid Backup CID T-MOB101 2.24.111.3) backup which has my original CID.
I've checked forum after forum but I can't seem to find a solution unfortunately.
Hopefully someone can help me out on this issue, it will be greatly appreciated!
Thanks

Thanks for the reply, I checked it out but it doesn't seem to work for me. In the post it says:
3) nandroid backup (Windows7, Mac, Linux): http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/st...oid-downloads/
------> if you’ve found a CWM nandroid backup proceed to post 5
------> if you’ve found a TWRP nandroid backup proceed to post 6
After I found the correct nandroid backup, I proceeded to post 6 which says:
Step 1: go back to Sense 5 Stock (updated 6 February 2014 for different Operating Systems)
in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, change your CID:
fastboot oem writecid HTC__001 (two underscores)
fastboot reboot-bootloader
-> and confirm CID is HTC__001
Download this: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-...78_signed-zip/
rename the downloaded file to ruu.zip (careful about .zip.zip in Windows), then in bootloader/FASTBOOT USB, flash it:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip <- yes TWICE, the first one will report “failed flush again”, the second one will succeed.
fastboot reboot-bootloader
After taking these steps I get this response:
>fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
sending 'zip' (806575 KB)...

writing 'zip'...
(bootloader) zip header checking...
(bootloader) shift signature_size for header checking...

My CID is changed to HTC__001 and I did flash it twice, or at least tried to. Any idea what I'm doing wrong here?

please check MD5 on all your downloads!! the file size for the 1.28.401.7 ruu.zip is 1,009,792KB (not the one mentioned in your output, that's why you get the error)
here's a mirror for the ruu.zip: RUU Zip M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7
i'll check if i have the nandroid backup too for T-MOB101... in either case, wherever you get the downloads, please check MD5 to make sure nothing is corrupt.
or you could change to one of those CID's:
Code:
HTC__001 --> HTC-WWE
HTC__016 --> VODA-Africa-South
HTC__032 --> HTC-EastEurope
HTC__102 --> HTC-GER
HTC__203 --> HTC-FRA
HTC__304 --> HTC-SPA
HTC__405 --> HTC-ITA
HTC__A07 --> HTC-Russia
HTC__E11 --> HTC-Dutch
HTC__J15 --> HTC-GCC
HTC__Y13 --> HTC-Norway
and stay international unbranded (without going back to custom carrier bloatware)

please check MD5 on all your downloads!! the file size for the 1.28.401.7 ruu.zip is 1,009,792KB (not the one mentioned in your output, that's why you get the error)
here's a mirror for the ruu.zip: RUU Zip M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7
i'll check if i have the nandroid backup too for T-MOB101... in either case, wherever you get the downloads, please check MD5 to make sure nothing is corrupt.
or you could change to one of those CID's:
Code:
HTC__001 --> HTC-WWE
HTC__016 --> VODA-Africa-South
HTC__032 --> HTC-EastEurope
HTC__102 --> HTC-GER
HTC__203 --> HTC-FRA
HTC__304 --> HTC-SPA
HTC__405 --> HTC-ITA
HTC__A07 --> HTC-Russia
HTC__E11 --> HTC-Dutch
HTC__J15 --> HTC-GCC
HTC__Y13 --> HTC-Norway
and stay international unbranded (without going back to custom carrier bloatware)

Thanks a lot of everything man, everything worked out. Now lets hope I get a new one hehe.
By the way I got a MD5 Mismatch error when I tried to restore the rom. Fixed it by deleting the nandroid.md5 file and making a new file with the same name.
Again thanks for the help!

[Q] Softbricked the M7, made it even worse afterwards. Do'nt know what to do

So, I've tried to get S-Off for a while, but my OS had to be the same as ROM version, so I did that. But here's where it went from bad to worse.. I flashed what I thought was a new ROM, but apparently there was no OS installed now.. It asked me if I wanted to unroot my phone in recovery, I unknowingly swiped yes.. So now I'm stuck here in fastboot without recovery and I can't flash a new recovery since I also did fastboot oem lock, and when I try to unlock bootloader all I get is "cannot open Unlock_code.bin" Any help would be greatly appreciated! I'm quite familiar with rooting, I've had similar ROMs on my phone before. The phone is from december 2013. Anyone knows what I can do

not entirely necessary, sometimes helps, S-Off options (depending on your situation)
revone/moonshine -> rumrunner -> firewater -> sunshine (sunshine is by far the easiest and most reliable, but does cost $25)

cannot open / cannot load is usually MyFileNameIsWrong, or not in the same folder etc.
Sorry, I meant root yes..
The code name is right and it's in the right folder.. I've checked that multiple times even when trying to fastboot other files, recovery.img is able to read but not able to flash since I locked it..

The fact that dragging and dropping the file worked indicates that previously there was a problem with the files name or location. Check your using the correct fastboot/adb folder for both storing your files and running your commands.
You can't downgrade untill your s-off. Your hboot suggests your on 4.xx.531.x so you can't use that ruu.
If your phone is not booting you need to push a Rom and try to s-off first. The initial problem you had (with no os installed) was probably due to rom/recovery incompatibility.
Download Twrp 2.6.3.3 form here
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7 and flash it in fastboot.
Code:
fastboot flash recovery "nameofrecovery".img
fastboot erase cache
Then boot to twrp recovery home screen and push your Rom
Code:
adb push "nameofrom".zip /sdcard
You can use the drag and drop method for these commands also (if you need) just remember to leave spaces in the appropriate places. The command window will appear unresponsive until the push completes. Once it's done install the Rom with twrp recovery.

You can't use those RUUs, those are for US T-Mobile (MID= PN0713000 + CID: T-MOB010), you have a German T-Mobile (MID= PN0710000 + CID: T-MOB101)
so you should currently be on 4.xx.111.x

It's possible something has been flashed that maybe shouldn't have and made a mess of the partitions.
Try this :- Download this stock recovery
http://d-h.st/Eq1
And flash it with fastboot remember to fastboot erase cache, then try boot to Recovery. If it boots the screen will be blank for a short while, then display an image of a phone with red exclamation this is normal. Holding volume up and press the power button to reveal the stock recovery menu. Ignore the Mount sd card errors that's also normal in stock recovery. Now perform a factory reset and wipe cache.
Reboot the phone back to the bootloader and flash twrp 2.6.3.3 then fastboot erase cache. Hopefully now twrp will boot. :finger-crossed:
If it does go into the "Wipe" options and select " Format Data" you will be prompted to type yes to confirm. Then 're-push the Rom and install with TWRP.

Well according to your getvar and the info shown in your bootloader your device is not s-off. Your still s-on so that ruu won't work for you anyway.
So what ever method you used to s-off apparently didn't work. And you need s-off to use that RUU.
However this RUU should work for you with s-on but you will need to relock your bootloader. And make sure you check the md5 of your download with this tool from www.winmd5.com
Correct md5 for this ruu is
Code:
5f121d72b8fa3f6f1704588467752605
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...9_10-26-1718-01l_release_356565_signed_2-exe/
Boot your device to the bootloader and connect fastboot usb. In the command window type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Make sure fastboot usb is connected then launch the ruu.exe on your pc.
Thanks a lot, I tried but after I launched the ruu.exe. It always display "htc_fastboot.exe is not working".

This is a visual c++ error I believe. Install this on your pc and try the ruu again http://www.microsoft.com/en-gb/download/details.aspx?id=29
---------- Post added at 06:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 06:49 AM ----------
Alternatively you could use this RUU.zip
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu-zip-m7_ul_jb43_sense50_mr_cingular_us_3-17-502-3-decrypted-zip/
The procedure for flashing is a little more complex though.
Download the ruu.zip and put it in your fastboot folder and rename it to ruu.zip.
Reboot the phone to the bootloader and Connect fastbootusb. Now open your Fastboot command line and type
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem lock
fastboot reboot-bootloader
you can skip this part if your already locked.
Code:
fastboot oem rebootRUU
--- case sensitive ---^^^
The phone will reboot to a black screen with a Silver HTC LOGO. This is RUU mode. Now we're going to flash the ruu.
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The first flash will be short. It's just a preupdate preparing the hboot for the new firmware. So we need to do the same command again.
Code:
fastboot flash zip ruu.zip
The second flash will take a little longer and this time it will flash the full ruu. The progress bar on the phone screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command window has completed its output the flash is done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
I just installed and tried again. but it says some problem cause the application is not working correct. the htc_fastboot.exe is still not working. Do i need to reboot my system after installation?
-----------------------------------------------------------
I am trying the zip file. Thank you so much.

use the .exe ruu that danny linked above (post #2), you can't use the decrypted ruu.zip (from post #4) with s-on.
Decrypted ruu = not signed by htc private key
s-on = must check htc signature before flashing
s-on + decrypted ruu = signature verification fail.
so with s-on you can only use signed ruu same or higher version
s-off: you can use signed and decrypted ruu, same, higher or lower version.

What version of Windows are you running on your pc?
Do you have HTC sync installed?
Is your SDK adb/fastboot up to date?
You can also try this ruu.exe http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/ruu_m7_...3_10-38j-1157-04_release_334235_signed_2-exe/ , I'm not sure it will help with the fastboot error since I think that problem is pc side. But try it maybe the older installer will work with the c++ you installed previously. :good:

do a factory reset from stock recovery
when you get in recovery from the bootloader push volume up and tap power to see the menu
After I entered the "recovery", I saw following:
Android system recovery <3e>
Volume up/down to move highlight:
Enter button to select:
reboot system now
apply from sd card
apply from phone storage
apply from cache
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
I didn't see the mean you give to me....
HTC One 32 GB AT&T
Rolled Back to Android 4.3 Sense 5.5 / ARHD 53
Is there anyway for me to install brand everything if I unlock with s-on? Or is there anyway for me to change from s-on to s-off? I used the htcdev to unlock but it doesn't change the "s-on" to "s-off"..
I did "adb devices", it shows:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot>adb devices
* daemon not running. starting it now on port 5037 *
* daemon started successfully *
List of devices attached
This is correct or not?

You need the phone to boot to a Rom to gain s-off.
If these reboots continue after flashing the ruu was successful there's a good chance your problem is hardware related.
Best option now it to unlock the bootloader and flash a Custom Recovery and Rom. I would also recommend doing a data format before flashing the new Rom to ensure your partitions are free from corruption.
So I just wipe cache partition or wipe data/factory reset?

If you have Stock recovery it would be best to factory reset with that first if you haven't already. Other wise just flash a Custom recovery

Remove your IMEI and SERIALNO from your getvar all.
I can't find any files useful to reset your phone back to stock 6.12.161.8 version. You should flash a custom recovery + a custom rom.

Prerequisites:
You need ADB and FASTBOOT on your computer,
either by installing the Android SDK or Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT
You need to know how to start a fastboot/adb command prompt:
To open a command window prompt, in Windows go to Start Menu --> ''Run'' then type cmd. Change the directory to the ADB folder on your machine:
If using the default install location for the SDK:
Code:
cd C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools
If using the default install location of Minimal ADB and FASTBOOT:
Code:
cd C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot
Or hold left shift + right click a blank space inside the folder where adb and fastboot are located and select ''Open command window here'' from the contextual menu.

You need TWRP recovery on your device.
We still recommend to use version 2.6.3.3 for all roms
except if another version is specified in the rom OP.
Use 2.7.1.1+ for roms that require "block:by-name" support (CM11)
Unlock bootloader if not already unlocked:
Thanks to Electroz for the video tutorial
Flash TWRP Recovery:
Make sure the recovery.img file is in the same folder where adb and fastboot are located
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
reboot phone in bootloader mode
Flash the recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery name_of_recovery.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
You need your HTC drivers correctly installed on your PC:
If not, follow this guide (thanks to nkk71):
originally from @nkk71: [GUIDE] [02-MAR-2014] nkk71's SuperGUIDE to returning 100% back to stock
follow the below instructions to fix
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install that
just in case, HTC Drivers can be found here: [Drivers] HTC Drivers for Windows - Several Versions (credits to @mdmower)
though you should already have them since you have been using your phone anyways
for those who like a visual guide:
okay so I did a fastboot boot command, and as you can see it didnt install correct driver
Open "Device Manager"
there's the culprit
right click and Update Driver Software
select Browse my computer for driver software
select Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer
select Android USB Devices
select My HTC ... (if you have more than one version, choose the latest)
warning, select Yes
successful installation
now it looks better
and can confirm:
Code:
C:\ADB3>[B]adb devices[/B]

Make sure the ROM you want to flash is in the same folder where ADB and FASTBOOT are.
(C:\adt-bundle-windows-x86_64-<DATE>\sdk\platform-tools or C:\Program Files (x86)\Minimal ADB and Fastboot)
Here is a list of the HTC M7 roms. Some other roms can be found here.
Connect your phone to computer using usb cable
(if not using the official HTC USB calble, make sure
you are using a USB data cable and not only a charging
cable. Data cables have 4 contacts: 5V, GND, DATA+, DATA-.
Charging cable only have 5V and GND contact and will not work)
Reboot phone in recovery mode (TWRP):
If phone is booted in OS:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
if not booted or bootlooping, hold power button + volume down until phone boot in bootloader mode
then select BOOTLOADER then RECOVERY using volume up/down to navigate and power button to select.
Make sure your phone is booted in TWRP main menu:
transfer the rom to your /sdcard folder:
Code:
adb push name_of_rom.zip /sdcard/
Wait for the zip file to transfer, this can take several minutes (5-15) and there is no progress bar, the command prompt will be unresponsive for that duration. When the command prompt is responsive again and display how much bytes transferred in X seconds, the transfer is completed:
In TWRP main menu, select ''INSTALL''
Browse the installation menu and select your rom zip file inside /sdcard folder:
Swipe to confirm you want to flash the rom

Might be because your driver isn't installed (should not be the case if you have followed the guide)
or maybe because you haven't enabled USB debugging
Hoewever, just do it manually by holding power and volume down until your phone reboot in bootloader then select "recovery"

yes my bootloader is relocked
So I helped him ( @XFX-Gaming ) via team viewer. Bootloader is S-ON and Re-Locked. We got a fresh Unlock_code.bin from HTCDev.com. The unlock code flash fine and the bootloader unlock screen shows up. When selecting "yes" to unlock, phone attemps to boot in recovery and hangs at the "entering recovery" white screen. When force reboot to the bootloader, still re-locked.
Any idea @nkk71 @clsA @Danny201281 ?

So we need the 6.12.161.8 firmware or the 6.12.161.8 ota zip file

Ok that makes some sense, you probably have a minor firmware incompatiblity that's causing this problem.
Download this firmware zip and put it in your fastboot folder. Rename it "firmware.zip"
http://xda7.androidrevolution.org/db_mirror/Firmware/HTC/HTC_One/401/6.09.401.11.zip
Reboot the phone into the bootloader and connect fastbootusb.
In the fastboot command line type.
Code:
fastboot erase cache
fastboot oem rebootRUU
**---case sensitive ---^^^
Your phone will reboot to a black screen with silver HTC logo. This is ruu mode we can now flash the firmware.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The first flash is just a pre-update. The screen will go off and then return to ruu mode. Flash the zip again immediately.
Code:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip
The second flash will flash the firmware, the progress bar on the screen will not reach 100% this is normal as long as the command line has finished it's output it's done.
Code:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
When that's done go to htcdev.com and go through the entire unlock my bootloader to get a new Unlock_code.bin then use it to Unlock your bootloader. :good:
The firmware will also restore your Stock Recovery, so after the unlock you will need to flash a new custom recovery.
