weird notification lights - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My girlfriend just got her note 5 64gb single sim few days ago.. there is a strange thing about the notification lights.. at whatsapp she sets normal private text as white and custom contacts as cyan.. when she receives msg either from custom contact or normal private msg the notification lights up different colour for the first blink and then back to the colour she choose.. what seems to be the problem here?

Same here but i don't think it is a problem maybe because whatsapp overrides the default notification light so there is why the delay i guess

How to change witch color on LED

Hi..
I think I remember that on an earlier CyanogenMod I could change witch color the LED shud have on missed calls, txt and so on.
But now on v4.2.11.1 I cant find that option.
I se that now after update I have green LED on missed calls, earlier I had blue.
I have it on 4.2.12.1 I think it is. The latest one at least.
look for an application called Missed Call or another one called Missed Reminder
Go to Messaging app->hit menu->settings-> scroll to notification settings->hit LED color not sure if it just changes the color when you get a message, or on every notification

Different SMS Icons

Just an easy question about two different SMS-icons. i don't know what is the difference and i don't know, what they mean?
Icon 1. Attachment
Icon 2. Attachment
Thanks!
Let's see,
Well the first one is the symbol for a message stil being sent, as if you sent it with no reception or very poor reception.
However, the second, i cant see to well becuse of the red arrows, but my guess would be it is the symbol of an unsent message as if you sent it with no signal and if gave up trying to resend because of the lack of signal. Is it the shape of a triangle, because if it is in fact, then it is the symbol of an unsent message.
Anyone correct me if i am wrong, but i dont think there is any change from the g1 symbols
Thanks for your answer!
...but the crazy thing is, that the icons don't fit with the delivery reports. Because they say, that the SMSs have been deliverd. I also asked the recipent, if the she gets the SMS. Her answer was yes....so all my SMS have been delivered. just the icon don't match up with the status Very strange!....
I could be wrong, but I believe the one with the arrow pointing out means it was sent. Then it disappears after a few seconds?
No...the arrow doesnt disappear.....the SMS, which are shown in the pictures, are sent by yesterday. No disappearing after few seconds....

I've never seen the one with the blue arrow. Did you forward those messages to someone else?
Noo....no forwarding.
All my SMS have this icon with the blue arrow. I thougt it's normal
Just my last three SMS have the icon with the red clock...so i thougt there is an error...i am confused

I'm confused as well, but don't worry.. if people are getting your messages, then there's no problem.
In the Messaging options, have you enabled delivery or read reports or anything like that? Maybe the blue arrow is a visual notification that the message was delivered or read by the recipient?
Yeah....i've enabled "delivery reports". So i can read the status of the messages by holding down on one message. There i get the option of "delivery report" and all my messages show "Delivered".
By holding down on one message with the red icon i get one more option than by holding down on one message with the blue arrow.
I can edit these messages with the red icon....so the N1 "think" that the messages arent delivered ?!
What icon are shown in your message application?

The red clock looking icon means the message is still being sent. I do get that, but only very briefly.
The only other icon I ever get is a grey triangle with a red !, which means the message couldn't be sent.
Edit: I have no idea what the blue arrow icon is... I thought it meant that you had forwarded the message or had a delivery report, but after trying myself, neither are the case. Still, if people are getting these, I wouldn't worry.
As for the red clock... if it is stuck on that icon, then the message is still being sent and for some reason it's not sending. This usually has to do with the network, but could be a problem with the APN. You're obviously able to send some messages, so the APN should be fine. That leads me to believe there's a network issue that isn't allowing you to send all your messages.
Maype this is the case....
Yesterday i installed APN Settings because i was travelled in a other country. I just wanted to forbid roaming...But while sending these messages, APN Settings was disabled (no blocking)....but i got the red icon...strange. Maybe the Nexs was confused, too
...and i've thougt, that the icon with the blue arrow is quite normal

app to make notification led usefull?

Hello all,
I am looking for an app/mod to allow the notification led to remain on instead of blinking when receiving an SMS/email.
As it is the led is just about useless and I keep missing messages. I can't have sound or vibration on. My blackberry, Droid and Droid x all allowed this, amazing HTC is so limited.
Thank you,
i would also like this

I would be happy with the ability to show different colors for different things like my OG droid did. Blue for text messages, green for app related things like Wordfeud, etc.
How do you make the screen come on when you receive an message, SMS or email, when your in vibrate or silent mode. My iPhone did this.

I am pretty sure Handcent SMS does this. I know it will pop up the screen when you get a text.

I use SMS PopUp, When you receive a text message your screen awakens with the message and a option to reply, close or to delete. Works great. The most important thing you have to remember is when setting the app up you must shut the stock text message notification off.
just out of curiosity, wouldnt that kill the battery with the screen lighting up all day long?
I would like this too. The LED blinks way to fast for me to even notice if I have a message. I rather it just stays on or at least blinks slower.
This wotked on evo but doesnt seem to work on tbolt. Can anyone get it to work? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=746732

Anyone ask him to do one for the Bolt?
does anyone know if it's possible to get more colors out of the led then the standard orange/green to specify types of notifications like blue for text message?
Check out Light Flow in the market. It works too.

I was ecstatic about this until i downloaded it and saw I could select green, orange, and dark orange aka stock.
I have not tested SMS popup with my new Thunderbolt (just got today ) but it reeked havoc on my DInc.
So I used the following two apps, while there was no popup, they worked amazingly.
For the led notification light:
Blink
Message notification reminder:
Easy Reminder
I would post links directly to the apps but I do not have permission yet (need 8 posts)

Try blink from the market, i have not tried it myself yet but it worked with my last phone.
Edit: nevermind just realized the post above mine mentioned this already and I just tried it and the only color it would work for is green.
i use "noled" and it turns the screen on very dim tho, with a little sms box that floats around, u can use it for emails missed calls charging etc..
Yeah it looks like we're restricted hardwarewise
now that's a shame!

Led notification light

I can't turn the notification light off I've been onto notification settings untitled all boxes but it still flashes green, anyone have this issue.
Sent from my HTC One using xda app-developers app
Pull down notification bar and then let it slide back up
If no dice, try rebooting
Go to settings display notification flash untick all the boxes all done
Sorry to barge in but I have a question about the LED notification....
Is it always green for alerts like messages and missed calls or is there an option to have a different colour for different alerts eg flash blue for SMS flash green for missed call?
I remember the G1 used to have this option (tri colour LED) but alot of modern android phones dont.

Green for just about everything. Orange for charging. Red for overheating.

Question WhatsApp notification problem

Using X Fold 2, latest fireware.
Hi all, I'm hoping someone can help fix my WhatsApp problem. I have every single option for notification turned on including auto start, display on lock screen and background pop ups. Now, if my phone is off, I will get the notification on the lock screen including the message preview. This works on dark mode and light mode, however, if I'm using the phone and I get a WhatsApp message, unlike Facebook and Outlook etc I do not get a message preview box at the top for a few seconds, all I get is the WhatsApp icon next to the clock top left and the app badge will have a 1. I have tried this is light and dark mode, it works for neither. I also have all the relevant settings in inside the WhatsApp app itself. Here's where things get strange though. If someone sends me a WhatsApp and I leave it unread, if a SECOND person sends me a WhatsApp I will now get a notification pop up for both messages, 1 line for each one. Why on earth can I not get it for 1 new message? What setting am I missing? I've compared to others and everything seems the same. Many thanks if you can help.
