I just got my nexus 6 and it came straight from Google (bought off Craigslist). I'm wanting to root it but I don't have a computer. Is there a way to root without a computer? I'm running marshmallow 6.0 build MRA58K. I see there's a lot of development for this phone. Is development going to continue pretty strong since the new nexus 6 came out??

Click to collapse
You need an other device PC or Mac or Linux.
OK I wasn't sure if there was a one click method
There isn't a one click method for rooting Marshmallow, only for bricking it (temporarily).
Also how do you want to install any custom roms without a computer? At least you need to flash TWRP then you can download roms on your phone, but you need a computer to flash TWRP.
Furthermore, what if the new rom flashed its own recovery then bootloops? With a computer you can re-flash TWRP in a minute and fix this. Without a computer...
I don't want to criticize anybody's hobby, but this can be very expensive...
OK I understand that it was just a question thanks
kings root might work. if it works on marshmallow now. i cant think of any other one click root that might work. but marshmallow requires a custom kernel for root to work, so it might not work at all http://www.kingroot.net/
I use a Mac. I can't seem to get my phone to be detected with the OEM cable, and several others. I've tried all my USB ports... But it detects my wife's. Anyway, due to this reason I can't root or do jr. Wanna-be-programmer modding to my phone because; the programs are pc only. Even with virtual virtual box, no luck. So I was wondering since 6.0 was rolling out OTA this weekend , apparently it went live last night. if anyone has a zip I can download and just flash or is there a way to do this with the TOT not involving a pc
I am unrooted on the latest OTA update via sprint, I think it's ZV6.
Thank you all for your help and guidance. Happy holidays.
Hey Perry the Saint,
Unfortunately, I don't have a solution to your problem. I have a Mac as well with ADB and Fastboot. I've been looking for a way to root my G4 on ZV6 and haven't found anything, or at least anything I have the knowledge to do. Can you suggest a way to root my phone using terminal? I'm mostly interested in root for now and maybe a custom recovery later. Thank you so much and I hope you find a solution to your problem so you can get root as well.
Someone I work with has the s5 active model g870a that has received the marshmallow 6.0.1 update. Something has happened that for some reason has wiped all of the pictures from her phone. I was going to see if I can recover anything from the phone, however I will need root access if I am going to examine the empty parts of the drive to see if I can recover anything. Does/can anyone tell me an effective rooting method for this phone? Does anyone have any idea how I can attempt a recovery of the photos without root?
*Edit*
I see there is a cf autoroot for SM-G870W. I feel like if I try this method I'm going to be looking at a bricked phone.
*Mod can this post be deleted? This is also posted in the S5 general forum
Hello all,
Does anyone know how to recover deleted contacts and their text logs from a Samsung-SM-G920A, using Android Version 5.1.1 , Baseband version G920AUCU3BOJ7?
I've already replaced the phone so I honestly don't care if destroy the phone to get these files back. My only fear is permanently losing the data. Every recovery method I've come across so far, requires a ROOT which is not yet available.
Would greatly appreciate all the help I can get
root it using kingroot or pingpong root
Can someone please help me root my A6 running android 9. I don't have access to a PC but would really like to root my device. Any help would be appreciated
Most of the time, you need a PC to root your device. I dont think that app like kingroot can root your phone.
It isn't possible to root phone without pc nowadays.
Rooting apps are using security exploits that are fixed today.
