The auto-translated instructions are not good enough, and this is a very risky procedure. Fortunately, with code you usually don't need to read the words to understand it. Fortunately, with my Japanese-speaking colleague's help, I understand everything. Some things to know:
- Don't try this unless you are content to risk your phone, because I can tell he made mistakes in his instructions
- To reiterate, you either need to follow his incorrect instructions or you need to listen to me (why would you do that?)
- Look at the code blocks--all that code is meant to be run on your computer while the phone is connected to USB.
- There is only one complicated step, and this is the one with the incorrect instructions.
What he says:
Open misc.img in a hex editor, represent [00001023] as [11] and save. If you are lazy, use the file I modified already. <link>
There are two problems with this statement. First, "00001023" is not a reasonable position in the file. It means "line 10, column 3" (lines start with zero, columns start with zero). But there are 16 bytes per line, so what he really means is "byte 147". (Each pair of hex characters is a byte. The lowest value is 00, the highest value is ff.)
The second problem is that in his "already modified" file, that byte is "00", not "11". This is what I expected, because it's not reasonable for number="11" to mean "unlocked". More likely, "11" is his carrier and "00" is when the phone is unlocked.
What I advise is getting your carrier to unlock the phone, and if that's not possible, proceed only if you are willing to risk your phone. Follow his instructions, but when you get your misc.img file, download his modified version and compare them. If they differ in only one position, install his file to your phone (as per the instructions). If they are very different but the same size, you can try changing byte 147 to 00 (if the surrounding bytes are also all 00). Save the unmodified .img file, because you might be able to use it to rescue your phone if this fails.
Note: this is risky, with or without language barrier issues. At least 10% chance of bricking your phone.
Thanks a lot for your advice.
But it is not possible to carrier unlock the phone
Is there any safe way to sim unlock the phone ?
Currently am stuck ...

I think it's probably safe to flash the misc.img file he uploaded and linked to, if (and only if) it is exactly the same as yours, except for that one byte. Low chance of bricking the phone.
But currently can you tell me to how to pull the image coz I havr followed his command ...
Adb shell
It strt with $
Su
Now # come
Then somd dd comand
Here it shows operation cannot complete(will update what is exactly error in few min)
Exit
Adb pull misc.img
Here it shows error device not detected
Can you help me to first pull file so I can compare

Weird... you got a successful ADB shell, then it stopped detecting your device? I suppose you should just try again.
My phone is not the same as yours, so you shouldn't compare your partition19 to mine. You have a phone specific to Japan, right?

That's actually normal (because you're not supposed to write to the root of the phone's filesystem). Every time the instructions say "/", you can replace it with "/sdcard/", and every time they say "/misc.img", you can think "/sdcard/misc.img". (The instructions were carelessly written.)

When you connect your MIUI device to the computer through USB in File Transfer (MTP) mode (that is, not in Photo Transfer), it also emulates a CD-ROM drive. The ISO image for the fake CD contains a copy of Mi Assistant, a device management tool for the PC, which is in Chinese only and can be downloaded from the Internet anyway. Basically, it's all useless and mildly annoying.

Here's what you need to do to get rid of it:
Step 1. Edit /system/build.prop and add the line:
Code:
persist.service.cdrom.enable=0
Step 2. Edit /init.qcom.usb.rc and where it says:
Code:
on property:sys.usb.config=mtp
(a) Change the first line to remove mention of mass_storage (this is for the CD only):
Code:
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/functions mtp
(b) Remove these two lines:
Code:
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun/ro 1
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun/file /data/miui/cdrom_install.iso
Similarly, where it says:
Code:
on property:sys.usb.config=mtp,adb
(a) Change the first line after the above to:
Code:
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/functions mtp,adb
(b) Remove these two lines:
Code:
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun/ro 1
write /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun/file /data/miui/cdrom_install.iso
Step 3. Delete the ISO image file to free up some space.
File location: /data/miui/cdrom_install.iso
And here's how to do it:
Using Android Debug Bridge from the command line:
Code:
adb root
adb shell "mount -o remount,rw /system"
adb shell "echo persist.service.cdrom.enable=0 >>/system/build.prop"
adb pull /init.qcom.usb.rc
Now use your favorite editor to make changes as described above in step 2.
Code:
adb push init.qcom.usb.rc /
adb shell "mount -o remount,ro /system"
adb shell "rm -f /data/miui/cdrom_install.iso"
adb reboot
Using ES File Explorer:
Download from Play Store or the developer's website. Install. Open. In context menu (hold leftmost button for 1 second), switch Root Explorer to On (this will fail). Go back to the home screen. Open Security, Permissions, Root Access. Put the switch next to ES File Explorer to On. Now you can switch back to ES File Explorer, and follow the steps 1-3 above. Use the built-in editor the make changes in the files.
Unknown USB devices when connected in MTP mode
When your device is connected in MTP mode (File Transfer) there are 3 unrecognized USB devices. To check if you have them too, go to Control Panel and choose Device Manager or run mmc devmgmt.msc from the command line (screenshot 1). The devices appear to have no hardware IDs (screenshot 2) and their class number seems to be {c897b31c-e8d2-59e9-a212-ccf0962fe102} (full registry dump provided as attachment).
View attachment 3137478 View attachment 3137479
This problem appears to be caused by the CD-ROM emulation as well: the number of devices will actually increase to 4 when it's switched off following the instructions above, which means there must be one extra step to get rid of it completely. This doesn't seem to cause any problems and the issue appears to be purely cosmetic. If I have time to investigate it further, I will report the conclusions back here. Meanwhile, if anyone has an idea what the cause is, please feel free to share it (might also be a driver issue).
Disclaimer: there might be some mistakes in what I wrote. Please use at your own discretion. This should work with a "developer" stock ROM out of the box, otherwise you'll need to set-up root access first.
Update for a total fix, and a more elegant approach
So the missing link to make the mysterious devices disappear is to edit /init.qcom.usb.rc and where it says:
Code:
case "$cdromenable" in
0)
Comment out (put the # sign) in front of:
Code:
#echo "" > /sys/class/android_usb/android0/f_mass_storage/lun0/file
The best way to make the whole change seems to be to unpack boot.img, for example with Android Image Kitchen, apply the patches (diffs attached), rebuild the image, and flash it. The persist.service.cdrom.enable=0 property can be set in /default.prop so that all the changes are contained within the boot image. In summary:
Code:
unpackimg boot.img
echo "persist.service.cdrom.enable=0" >>ramdisk/default.prop
patch ramdisk/init.qcom.usb.rc < init.qcom.usb.rc.diff
patch ramdisk/init.qcom.usb.sh < init.qcom.usb.sh.diff
repackimg
cleanup
adb reboot bootloader
fastboot erase boot
fastboot flash boot image-new.img
fastboot reboot
@ Aqq123 thanks for the write up, I have a Mi 4C and the iso file is not in /data/miui/ but it still shows up when connecting to pc
READ THIIS!
*this thread is for desire 510. it will NOT work on m7,or any older device. please check the general forum for your particular device for a similar thread.
this thread will let you unlock your bootloader without htcdev,or let you change your hboot watermark from relocked or unlocked back to stock.
advantages
-no hassle with htcdev, tokens,or unlock codes
-no submitting your phones personal info to htc
-the ability to get back to 100% stock without any visual traces or records of having been s off or unlocking your bootloader.
*you must be s off.
*you must have superuser installed
read this:
this will not work if your s on. its not a way to magically unlock
the usual disclaimers:
use this info at your own risk. if it melts your phone into a little pile of plastic goo,its not my fault.
credits
-beaups for schooling me on echo comand protocol
-strace for originally discovering the location of the lock status flag(check out this thread for more info)
*i have tested this on my gsm cricket desire 510 variant(a11_ul). let me know if you try it on a different variant,or if youd like to dump partitions and have me take a look
IF you are an advanced user with adb/fastboot set up and some basic knowlede of the cmd window, you can skip to #2
1)set up adb(windows 7 and older)
-download this file
-install drivers: if you have htc sync installed, you should allready have drivers. if not,you can install htc sync,or install these modified htc drivers from revolutionary (driver mirror)
-unzip your miniadb_v1031.zip file. this is native funtionality in windows 7. you otherwise may need a utility such as "7-zip" to extract,or unzip it. place the unzipped folder onto the root of your C drive on your PC. root means the top level, not inside any folders. so just copy and paste,or drag and drop the folder onto C with everything else that is there. you may want to rename it to "miniadb_m7" since youll be putting some device specific files in here.
-open a command window. on windows 7,click the start bubble in the lower left and type "command" in the search box. xp i believe is similar or the same. doing this should open a small black command window.
-change to your miniadb_m7 directory. type the following at the prompt in your cmd window:
cd c:\miniadb_m7
your command promt should change to "c:miniadb_m7>" provided you: 1)unzipped the miniadb_v1031 zip file, and 2)put the folder on your c drive, and 3)entered the name of the folder correctly ("miniadb_m7" in this case)
-now make sure usb debugging is checked in developer options(you will need to turn it on first),and plug your phone into your PC with a usb cable
-make sure your phone is being recognized- type:
adb devices
if your drivers are installed correctly, this should return your phones serial number. you should hear the "found device" noises when you plug your phone in. if it starts installing drivers, wait for it to finish before typing the adb devices command.
if you get your serial number back, then enter this command:
adb reboot bootloader
this should take your phone to the "fastboot" screen, wich is white with colored letters. this is one mode of your bootloaders interactive modes. at the top youll see fastboot devices as confirmation youre in fastboot.
now enter:
fastboot devices
again, this should return your phones serial number. you should hear the "found device" noises when you plug your phone in. if it starts installing drivers, wait for it to finish before typing the adb devices command.
if you get your serial number back, you can enter the following to boot back to the phones OS:
fastboot reboot
and now, youve installed adb/fastboot and tested youre phones drivers. if at either spot, you have trouble and dont get your serial number back, there is some sort of connection issue. use these steps to troubleshoot:
troubleshooting connectivity issues:
-try a reboot of the PC
-try different usb cables and ports
-dont use a usb hub
-dont use usb 3.0
-make sure nothing capable of comunicating with the phone is enabled and running. htc sync, pdanet, easy tether, and even itunes have all been known to cause issues.
-windows 8 has been known to have issues. try a windows 7 or older machine
failing the above,
-i use these drivers for fastboot and adb(donwload and run as admin): http://downloads.unrevoked.com/HTCDriver3.0.0.007.exe (mirror)
failing that, try manually updating the drivers in the following manner:
-put the phone in fastboot mode(select fastboot from the hboot menu)
-open device manager on the PC
-plug in phone, watch for it to pop up in device manager.
-update drivers with device manager, pointing the wizard to the extracted
driver download folder from above
note that you can check the connectivity of the phone, and make sure drivers are working by in the following manner:
-open cmd window. change to directory containing adb/fastboot utilities
-adb with the phone in the booted OS,usb debug enabled, enter:
adb devices in a cmd window
-fastboot with phone in fastboot,enter:
fastboot devices in cmd window
in either case,a properly connected phone with working drivers installed should report back the phones serial number.

adb reboot bootloader
verify you are now locked

to UNLOCK your bootloader, enter the following:

I got my OP3 today and my laptop, running ElementaryOS (ubuntu based) didn't recognize the OP3 as MTP,
Here is a guide how to fix this, I based this guide on this guide for the OP2.
steps:
Do NOT connect your OP3 to your pc
run the command "lsusb" from your terminal
Connect your OP3 to your pc with original cable
run the command "lsusb" again
You will see a new device, my OP3 is called " Bus 001 Device 012: ID 05c6:900e Qualcomm, Inc. "
You see that it has an ID, in my case "05c6:900e".
the first value is the vendor-id, the second the product-id, you need those so write them down!
so in my case it's :
vendor id: 05c6
product id: 900e
Install the MTP drivers: "sudo apt-get install libmtp-dev mtpfs"
edit the following file with the command: "sudo gedit /lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules"
if you don't have gedit installed use the command: "sudo nano /lib/udev/rules.d/69-libmtp.rules"
Add the following line to the file:
Code:
ATTR{idVendor}=="[COLOR="Blue"]vendor-id[/COLOR]", ATTR{idProduct}=="[COLOR="blue"]product-id[/COLOR]", SYMLINK+="libmtp-%k", MODE="660", GROUP="audio", ENV{ID_MTP_DEVICE}="1", ENV{ID_MEDIA_PLAYER}="1", TAG+="uaccess"
make sure you change the blue values to your own values found in the step above.
safe the file
restart the service: "sudo service udev restart"
If you did it correct you will see a popup on your OP3, select "File Transfers (MTP)", select that and now you can transfer files between your OP3 and linux
I don't know if the vendor-id and/or product-id are always the same, if some people can confirm that then I will edit the post.
Hey, I got the same vendor id and product id as you did.
However, even after following the procedure step-by-step, I am unable to transfer files between my OP3 and my laptop running Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.
The OnePlus drivers folder gets loaded as a CD(though I'm connecting the phone using USB) when I change the "Use USB for" setting to "File Transfer(MTP)," and the file named "adb_config_Linux_OSX.sh" doesn't do anything when run in terminal either.
Could you help me out with this?

I just now happened upon this forum because my OP3 wasn't connecting for file transfers over USB. This worked like a charm for me; the vendor and product IDs were different (as I'm sure others have commented already), thank you for putting this out there, I definitely hit that 'thanks' button!!!!!!!
It's also possible to use this script (Vendor & Product id can differ).
Code:
#!/bin/sh
# adb configuration script

Hi to all,
found a phone and I had a choice : put it in trash or keep it, I decided the 2nd choice,
1st. attempt: Formatted whole phone (with spflash tool), flashed global_rom, IMEI blank, open wifi, mi-verification lock device back again
2nd & 3rd. attempts: Fixed Imei, with original and not original (modem-meta), mi-verification lock device back again
I guess Mi-verification read not IMEI for locking, but serial number ?
Question is, should I trhow this device to trash or is there a way to be used, by then removing Mi-verification ?
I read along the forum, and the solution seems to be to change the serial-number :
Code:
adb shell "getprop | grep serial"
[ro.boot.serialno]: [050505050505]
[ro.serialno]: [050505050505]
[vendor.gsm.serial]: []
to change it :
Code:
adb shell "setprop ro.serialno 060606060606"
adb shell "setprop ro.boot.serialno 060606060606"
but it return not possible, I guess read only
Is there a way to change serial number, and change configuration of build.prop ?
very good question !
It seems to be a dead argument !! not so much interest on it ..
Pulled build.prop but no trace of ro.serialno or ro.boot.serialno inside,
on a post of 2 years ago, I read that after android 10 there is no possibility to change S/N, is it real ?
