Cheap DIY Home-Made Stands :)

I often use my Galaxy Tab as a laptop companion, resting within arm reach, displaying news streams, clock, calendar, online radio, etc.
Inspired by this design [1], I decided to throw together my very own cheapskate made-with-pencils tripod stand
My prototypal version is secured with less-than-elegant black tape, so it won't win beauty contests ! However it is very sturdy, and works wonderfully in both portrait and landscape modes.
There is plenty of room for the charge/sync connector as well as for the stereo speakers to remain unblocked.

I also recycled an old plexiglas photo holder into a low tablet stand suitable for horizontal/landscape mode. Rubber bands prevent the Tab from slipping !

hahaha, NICE !!
I'd like to see more of those when you have a little more time in your hands ^^
ROFL I love the first photo! The Tab with a little jungle touch!
I like the pension stand! However I made a nice little stand from a box of Godiva chocolates - just cut out a rectangle the size of the tab in landscape and added some padding on the inside so it wouldn't slide down. Looks pretty good in black!
the plexiglass holder is brilliant!
its kinda ghetto, but brilliant.

Why don't you buy the single-definition TV out composite cable ? (it's cheap compared to the HDMI high-definition dock)
I got a card holder from Office Depot for 5 bucks. Works great as a stand in landscape mode.

This is simly ghetto-licious. Love the rubber bands!
I have also created an ceap + simple DIY Tablet stand out of an piece of wire!
It looks like this:

Car Cradle/Dock - For A Sensible Price

I'm after a car phone holder with a USB connection built in. Has anyone come across one for a sensible price?
All I can find is the official HTC one which is over £50!! I've toyed with the idea of using a desk dock (£12), however I'm not sure whether this is a good plan as the phone's USB port will be put under some strain from the vibration of the vehicle which could lead to it being damaged.
EViS try ebay I got mine from there about a year or so ago, don't use it now (ebay that is )
I use this one in my car:
dealextreme.com/p/usb-ac-battery-charging-dock-cradle-for-htc-hd2-100-240v-44622
Works fine, connected both usb-connections to chargers... also charges extra battery.
Just attached with some welcro to the underside and the dash.....

Will that fit the TMOUS HD2?
I know a USB connection was required, but those are hard to find for a car cradle. I just got one of these for $7.50 on Amazon.

Card Cradle on Amazon
Works great. Sticks to my windshield and holds on. Pefect fit for my TMOUS HD2 in the holder with no lame thick padding. Camera functions also via an opening for it in the holder. Turns many ways for custom angles. I'm buying a second for my desk at work because I'm just that geeky.
Does that one shake while you driving?

It does just a little bit. I didn't think about that and video. I'll do a test video when I head out for lunch later.
*Edit*
I ran some video tests and was impressed with the results. If your car rides smooth, the holder should stay still. My truck does not ride smoothly but most of the time it worked and the video was very watchable. I only had issues with bumpy road spots, shifting, or when I got over 70 mph (112 kph). Not an issue with the holder, just my truck shaking some.

Poetic Nexus 7 Case Mod

I hate dongles. There, I said it. I. Hate. Dongles.
With the OTG capabilities and the enormous (relatively) storage capability of SD cards these days, it seemed that using a dongle with the N7 was inevitable. So I took the plunge and got one. But what to do about strain relief and <sigh> that damned floppy dongle getting in my way all the time?
I added Velcro strips to the case and to the dongle in order to keep it in place and out of my way when I was using it. Two wide strips on the back of the case, and one on the front provide more than adequate anchoring so that the N7 can sit on my desk in landscape mode AND hold the dongle in place and out of the way without a problem. It also keeps the mini USB socket from sustaining any damage from the dongle flopping around.
Here's the photos of what I did and I'm very satisfied with the end result.

As long as it works for you admittedly otg cables and dongles are not very handy things, I'm sure someone could come up with an all in one solution that matches the base line of the tablet and looks like a short extension of it.
No luck yet but im hopeful
I have send email and a small drawing to a hand full of connector design companies . Asking them about a ribbon like micro usb connector something that would be very slim low profile.. IF i get someone willing to make them . i will start a thread asking for those wanting a low profile usb otg to buy into getting the minimum made. Its like to be about 300 connectors at 25 cents to 1.00 each... There is a unlimited use for such a plug for this and other devices ..
Just thought i would add it as i see the stressful post .. I have a similar thing for my nexus Its ugly tacky and i do not like it .
Nice pics thou
I did something similar to my Poetic case last night., I just used industrial strength velcro, and less of it. Here's a few pics. I'm at work, and in a low light environment, so the pictures aren't great...

Decent car dock from Platinum case/ Evo 3D car dock...

I could not find anything close to what I wanted, so I took some spare parts and made one.
I have the Best Buy Platinum case with holster and an old HTC Evo 3D car dock.
1. Heat and mold the holster so that the phone can be put in it screen facing out. Pretty simple using a kitchen torch and a spoon. Looking at it you would be hard pressed to see it was changed, but now the phone will fit either face in or out (we need it to face out for this purpose).
2. Remove the Evo 3D holster from the Evo 3D car dock. Simple enough, its just clipped on.
3. Remove the rotating/hinged micro USB plug from the Evo 3D car dock because it needs to be turned around the opposite direction of what it is. This took just a little effort as the actual hinged piece needed to be modified slightly and then the circuit board with the plug on it needed to be hot glued back in to the hinged piece. Put it back and and make sure it still swivels/rotates GOOD TO GO.
4. Now put the SGN2 in to the Platinum case that we earlier modified and "plug it in" to see where the holster and car dock need to be joined. I used a single short fat screw and JB Weld to attach the SGN2 holster and the EVO 3D car dock. I used the 5 minute set stuff, so it needed to be put in the correct position quickly. This stuff really is set in 5 minutes!
I also had to slightly modify the upper retaining hinged clip on the SGN2 holster because of the phone being reversed. The phone is held in VERY snuggly. It plugs in the the micro USB quickly and correctly every time. I added an NFC chip on the inside of the holster to launch my Car Home Ultra application.
Here are a couple pictures. I personally think Samsung would make a killing by doing this. But in the end, this cost me nothing beyond what I had previously spent.

http://www.easyacc.com/575-easyacc-dp100-ultra-portable-bluetooth-40-speaker.html
The speaker is pretty nice for such a small size. Here's my review of it.
Bluetooth Speaker EASYACC DP100 i like the portable sound it creates excellent bass and treble sound quality is very amazing in a little package. Volume adjustment super simple on top and its pretty loud so be careful. even at high volume it will not distort handles every type of music very well. i like the carrying bag it came with keep it alll nice and clean when not in use. I primarily use this to play music at work and it last for day after days without charging seems to last forever. Syncing is very easy turn BT on your device and discover and connect. its that simple. sync and play. over all i like this product i don't use all the feature. But for what i use for its AWESOME!!! I highly recommend this product to anyone who looking for external speaker.

Here's my review of the portable charger.
EasyAcc® 9000mAh Powerbank External battery charger first of all this is very rugged piece of power bank its a 2.1amp power output charged up my device full with in around 60min or so. Thats way faster then my stock charger I am happy with this product. It's a life saver. Sometime I forget to charge my phone over night. This power bank saved the day. It also have 4 bars to tell you the state of the charge on the power bank . It's not bulky and fits in any pockets. best of all you can hook it to your belt or belt loop around your pants. i dropped it on accident in the rain and picked up was surprised it kept on working. Like i stated earlier its very rugged solid really well made. It also has a flashlight which i found useful at night when i am fumbling my keys to get the house door open. Over all its an EXCELLENT product. I highly recommend this to anyone.
I wanted to let everyone know about a giveaway they are having. It can be found here http://www.easyacc.com/media-center...c-7w-portable-foldable-outdoor-solar-charger/
