Hello, Im new here to the community and I am (of course) loving my rooted, ROM'd Droid. I have been trying custom boot animations, which is quite easy to do. My problem is, I found a ''basic'' bootanimation (here in the Eris section), and decided that I should try to customize it (as it was only text on the boot animation). I edited each .png file, saved, rezipped, and flashed. Now all I get is a black screen before boot.
I tried to change the size (in the desc.txt) but that didnt work either. I was hoping someone could look at it and let me know where I have went wrong. Like I said, all I did was add/move words on the .pngs.
I am including the original boot animation: 'YearoftheDroid.zip' and then the one I edited: 'bootanimation.zip'. Any help would be greatly apprectated, as I want to get rid of the Motorola Logo also.
Thanks for all of your help and this community! (I hope Im asking in the right place)
Oh yeah, the original YearoftheDroid.zip boot animations works fine on my Droid before I edit it.
(Also, is there a program for me to test boot animations on my pc before I try it on the Droid? I did see one post with it, but it was sent via pm, so I could not find a download link.)
The file sizes are way off, is this why? Also, why would the file size change so dramtically if all I am doing is moving text and adding the 'DROID' logo? (I would think that my edited one would be bigger).
Thanks Again!
Hey folks I am certifiably a noob, with a grin and fingers crossed. I have ATT HTC One that I have been able to root after wiping the phone of everything. After countless hrs reading here I fixed it. Yes I am proud of myself and patted myself on the back for job well done. Also S-off with Cid 1111111. What I cant figure out is 1,how to change boot screens and boot animations. 2, after removing bloat I would like to change aesthetics of device ie.bar at top of phone box colors in mesage text etc. Any help WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED ALONG WITH DETAILED HOW TO..THANKS A BUNCH FROM THE NOOB!!!!
Try installing ViperOne. It's noob friendly, let's you remove bloatware, and change the boot animation in tweaks. If you wanna keep your ROM, just disable any unwanted apps. As for the boot animations. Follow these steps:
1. Get Root browser
2. Download a boot anim (1080x1920)
3. Rename it to hTC_bootup.zip (hTC_down.zip for down anim)
4. Copy it to system/customize/resources, and replace. Make sure you have write permissions.
5. Reboot, and test. If it doesn't work, try installing with TWRP's file manager.
IMO, getting ViperOne is easier. Good luck dude.

Hi, hopefully someone can help me, Ok first I have the At&t Nexus 6 and I've tried changing the bootanim and have had no success. I've used file managers and get the perms to rw-r-r making a custome flash zip to move it into data like u could on KitKat. Any Suggestions and or help would be hella awesome . Ok my second question is, Is there anyway to to change or get rid of that annoying At&t loading Anim when powering up?

AT&T branded stuff is in the /oem partition and will need to be removed from there.

Supplementing what @rootSU told you, there is more information in this thread > http://forum.xda-developers.com/nexus-6/general/remove-att-carrier-customization-thread-t2947581
Does anyone have the stock shutdown animation in a flashable zip? I want to get rid of the carrier shutdown animation on my Note5. It's driving me insane. I was able to flash the stock Marshmallow boot animation and that works so I imagine the shutdown animation from any Note5 variant works well on my SM-9208. Thanks!
Check this themes and apps thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note5/themes-apps/mod-enable-zip-bootanimation-aroma-boot-t3205323
He has multiple boot and shutdown animations all preloaded. Not sure if it has the stock one you're looking for but it has a bunch to choose from. Check it out.

Thank you. I saw that after I started the post but wasn't certain whether the Sammy animation in his preview was the official one that comes with the non-carrier versions. Do you know if it is?
Update: I tried it. Doesn't work. Oh well. I guess I'll have to root around a bit more.

What didn't work? I had it up and running on my phone. I deleted the file after I chose my animations (Marshmallow boot, CRT Shutdown), so I can't go and check if they had the Samsung shutdown animation.
It should work though, so long as you're rooted.

I'm rooted. I still have my carrier boot animation on shutdown. It might be a quirk of my carrier's ROM. I understand it doesn't work on some other carrier-branded ROMs too.

why would you need a flashable zip if you are rooted? Just delete shutdown.qmg or whatever that file is called, and replace it with the shutdown animation you want.
Maybe your carrier has a different name for the animation file, but the process should still be the same - just rename the shutdown animation file to match whatever the original one was called.

I have 6 files -- bootsamsung.qmg, bootsamsungloop.qmg, bootsamsungmini.qmg, bootsamsungmini2.qmg, bootsamsungmini2loop.qmg and bootsamsungminiloop.qmg.
I also have crypt_bootsamsung.qmg and crypt_bootsamsungloop.qmg.
I'm not certain which of those is the one I should be renaming. That's why I wanted the zip. I wanted to take it apart to see which one it is so I don't accidentally do something to my device that I'll regret.
Also, I don't actually have the animation from the non-carrier SM-9208 so I don't have anything to replace the QMG file with.
EDIT: I found it!! It wasn't any of those. My carrier hid it in another folder. Just renamed it and now it's gone. Thank goodness. Their stuff was garbage.

I am having a hard time changing start up and shut down. Would one of you be willing to walk me through it?
Update: successfully installed both. Sorry for the 20 questions. Where do i put the sound files for the boot and shut down animations? Thank you in advance, and thank you for your hard work developing this.
Hello,
I have found a thread about the Nexus 6p boot animation for Nexus 6.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-e-2015/development/mod-nexus-6p-logo-bin-bootanimation-t3262923
In this boot animation the google part morphs into the colourfull thing and after this it morphs into the Android logo.
I tried to get this on my 6p but it doesnt work...
Im on cm13 snapshot
When i google it i find the same one for shamu, moto and Nexus 6 but no 6p.
Anyone had this for the Nexus 6p?
I dont know how to place a gif file here so i placed the link to the gif.

The stock animation on the 6P does show the Google logo morph into the animation. I can't really speak for CM ROMs / CMTE, but generally if you want to replace your boot animation all you have to do is;
Rename the zip file to bootanimation.zip
Grant the file explorer of your choice root privileges and navigate to;
/system/media
Rename the bootanimation.zip that's there to bootanimation.zip.bak and copy the other file to the same location and leave it there.
If they aren't already the same, make sure to update the new zips permissions to match the old ones. It should be 644 -rw-r--r--
Reboot.
Not sure about CM ROMs however, I only run AOSP.

Hi Roy,
Thanks for the info!
I already Have the marshmallow boot animation and i Have the Google part too.
The only thing is that the Google sign doesnt morph into the other animation fluently.
It Just Goes from Google to the other animation.

Ohhhhhhhhhh I think I know what you're talking about. So when you boot the device it should show Google, and Google would morph in the swirling balls of colour and animation? I could swear that's on stock Android, but I just booted mine and it doesn't do it that way. On my device, it just jumps from Google right into the 4 swirling colours. On my wife's unrooted, not unlocked Nexus 5X, it does the fluid motion from Google to colours.

No problem. It is fluent for me. I'm not sure why the other guy is having issues with it. Just rebooted twice to confirm. In any case I've uploaded the stock animation to this post. (Pulled from stock, rooted 7.0) Replace the file like I mentioned above and let me know how it works.
In the unlikely event you run in to boot loops after installing, reboot to TWRP and use the built in file explorer and go back to /system/media (you may have to mount /system before seeing the files). Delete the bootanimation.zip and then rename bootanimation.zip.bak back to bootanimation.zip. Make sure the permissions are 644 otherwise you'll just see a black screen or the stock "Android" text. Should still boot though.
Let me know if you have any issues.
Edit: Shot a short video with my Nexus 5 2013 of my 6P booting so you could see the transition in action. Here
