Smart Unlock doesn't work with my car's Bluetooth connection. - Nexus 6 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I had a Nexus 5 that I could use with my car's bluetooth system as a trusted device. I could use google now to say,'OK Google, Navigate to Home'. The phone would automatically bypass the 9 dot lock screen and start navigating.
My Nexus 6 seems to not be able to do this with my car setup as a trusted device. The phone doesn't always turn on when I say OK Google. It seems like it needs to be plugged in. Also if I want to Navigate or use some other command it goes to my 9 dot lock screen and wants me to unlock to be able to start the Navigation.
It's a pain to have to unlock the phone while I am driving.
Is there a fix or something wrong with my Nexus 6?

Help please for new poster re: Android Auto connection problems

Hi everyone and sorry if my first post has been covered before, but I couldn't find a post that exactly replicated mine.
I have a Kenwood Head unit, model number DMX8020DABS which is Android Auto compatible. My phone is a Samsung A20e running Android 10.
I cannot for the life of me connect my phone to the head unit either by usb cable or wirelessly.
I have had a friends phone iphone connected to the carplay on the unit and also a Samsung Galaxy S10 also, both connected wirelessly as soon as the bluetooth connection was made. This leads me to think my phone is not compatible. I have read about various compatible phones connecting wirelessly and can't see mine in a list anywhere, but I have also read any Android phone with Android 10 should be able to connect via usb cable.
I obviously have the Android Auto app built in to the Android 10 software, one question is do I need to download the Android Auto for phone screens app also?
When I plug my phone into the usb connection to the head unit the phone acknowledges it and the Android Auto app comes up and says follow instructions on car screen, but when you press Android Auto on the kenwood unit the wheel just keeps spinning and it says 'processing' and nothing happens. I have tried resetting the unit, uninstalling/re-installing the AA app, restarting the phone, everything.
Am I missing some settings, not set properly? One thing I noticed in the phone, when you connect the phone and pull down the drop down menu on the phone if you tap on the usb connection settings a screen comes up usb controlled by connected device or this phone, it is set to this phone, and one of the options is Transferring files / Android Auto with a button next to it, when I try to activate that button it won't check it just goes off, even though this is preset in the settings>developer options>networking>default usb configuration where the button is checked.
I have been trying for days to get this to connect. As an aside, my bluetooth connection is fine the unit can make calls and play spotify from my phone, it's just Android Auto that's not working.
Do I need a to get a new phone? Any ideas or advice would be welcomed. Thanks for reading.

Where is "Smart Lock"?

On my previous phone I made extensive use of Smart Lock (Android 6) so that I didn't need to unlock my phone in certain scenarios (mostly when certain bluetooth devices were connected, such as headphone). I can't find the feature on Redmi Note 9 - where is it?
I've tried the "Unlock with Bluetooth" option but it doesn't detect my headphones even though they are connected.

In Xiaomi's infinite wisdom, as part of "streamlining" Android to make MIUI they have removed Smart Lock and only allow "unlock with Bluetooth" to work with Xiaomi Bluetooth devices, which makes it far less useful than if they'd just left well alone
Don't get me started on their rejection of Chromecast compatibility in favour of Miracast alone
There's an xposed framework module if you want to go down that route for Bluetooth unlocking. It's discussed here
I hadn't been too disappointed with MIUI (I'd read about some people not liking it before I bought the phone). I'd rather assumed that it was more a case of adding things but not actively removing useful functionality is rubbish. It's a good value phone for memory per pound cost.
I can at least use Chromecast with mine, so I presume you have a different model.
You can cast from apps with specific Chromecast buttons but screen mirroring with Chromecast doesn't seem possible, other than with the following app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=sidhnath.screencast
MIUI isn't as bad as some skins, with a couple of useful additions, but I'd far prefer a stock Android ROM

automatically grant authorization on Samsung

Hello everybody. i have a rooted samsung note8. I always keep it connected to my car. the problem is that when I turn on the car, the request for authorization for the connection between the phone and the car appears on the display every time. it's really annoying to have to click "allow" every time. is there any way to force this once and for all? thank you so much
Can anyone help me?
If the car asks the authorisation you can't do nothing.
Instead, if the authorisation popup is on the phone maybe you can try to do something with tasker
"Request for authorization?" Are you talking about the pop-up a head unit brings up when a new phone wants to connect to Android Auto?
Perhaps try pairing via Bluetooth, like it's a phone which doesn't do AA (just to get it to remember your phone). In any case, sounds like an issue with the car's headunit. You could also see if it has some way to forget previously connected phones or do a "factory reset."

Question Smart Lock issue Stock Rom

I've setup smart lock to keep my device unlocked when it connects to my car or earphones.
But it just doesn't work.
The steps I follow is, connect to the device which is whitelisted in smart lock and then leave the device be, it locks itself and prompts for fingerprint/pin.
Expected behavior is that it shouldn't ask for the pin when it's still connected to the device.
I'm on stock rom .72
Can someone confirm if this functionality is working for them.

Android auto wireless doesn't connect to my phone automatically

Just got an android auto system retrofitted for my jaguar Xf.
My android auto works fine with wired and wireless connections. But every time I get into the car, my phone doesn't automatically connect to the car. It displays a screen showing my phone device name. I have to select this and then it starts connecting to the phone. Is I skip this, I end up with a black screen with no way to get out of it. I need to stop the car, wait for the it to go completely to stand by and then I get prompted to select the phone again.
I only have 1 phone added. Shouldn't it be automatically connected?
I have a Samsung galaxy S21 FE. The android auto unit is Joyeauto. I believe it may be the same hardware as ID Core.
