Hi-Res Audio feature missing after Lollipop Walkman/Music update? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there.
I'm considering buying and external portable amplifier/DAC such a Fiio or a Topping NX2 , as I've bought a great pair of headphone, and the 3,5" volume output of the Z3 Compact is really, really poor.
But I've noticed that after Lollipop-Walkam/Music update the "Hi-Res Audio" feature (that allows you to connect those dac/amplifiers through the usb port with an axcellent sound) is no longer there.
Sony in its forum said it's beacuse now the feature is stock in Android Lollipop but users are reporting it's not true, and that they're not able too bypass internal z3c DAC anymore.
Anybody using an ampli/dac with the z3c could eventually confirm or deny this?
Thank you in advance.

Nokia MD-310 Bluetooth Receiver issue

Hi!
I'm loving my new Z3 Compact but ran into first annoying issue. I've been using Nokia Wireless Receiver to stream audio via bluetooth to my amplifier. It has worked well with my previous phones, iPad Air and also my wife's Galaxy S4 Black Edition that has KitKat installed.
With Z3 it connects and phone shows aptX device connected. Audio starts playing but cuts off and back constantly, almost like it loses connection every half a second or so. Tested Spotify and Radio FM to make sure it's not an app issue, same thing happens with both. I also got JBL Flip 2 speaker and bluetooth audio is crystal clear with that, no issues at all.
I'm a bit baffled because it doesn't seem to be an Android issue (Galaxy S4 working well), not an app issue and also bluetooth audio from Z3 works with other devices. Any ideas/help would be appreciated.
Thank you.

Hi. it seems like you and me are having the same problem except I have a z2. Previously I had a Xperia sp and that works fine with the Nokia receiver which leads me to believe it has something to do with aptX as my z2 works OK with other non aptX devices aswell.
Did you ever find a solution to your problem? I found that if you turn WiFi off it helps a little, but is still un-listanable to my ears

USB Audio Out on MTCB RK3188 on 5.1.1

Hi All,
I have lately ventured into th Androi dheadunits world and have been really happy the functionality they bring with them.
I am using a USB dac hifimediy to get audio out from the HU. The HU is a HA version and is on 5.1.1
I dont get the generic Android sounds via the DAC. When the DAC is connected i don't get any sounds from HU. I only get any sound play from UAPP. Rest all the apps which play music doesnt output to USB dac even if i am playing low bitrate MP3
Is this behavior expected or there is something that can be done? Thanks in advance
P.S: i have the "Prevent audio rout to USB" disabled in Developer options

I cannot recall the exact reason, but I recall reading something in this thread about how they are separated. Perhaps @7floor may be able to answer.
Got the same problem.. Connected Asus Xonar U7 and no main sounds from android, only via usb player apps. Android 5.0 supposed to support native usb audio? :/ Also RK3188 & Android 5.1.1.
It may take you some time searching, but at least one person deffo got a USB DAC working on these units, your ll have to search the original thread which is here :

Audiophile question, Winca S160 -> extrenal Dac?

Hello people,
I'm new here (and to Android in general) so if this is the wrong part of the forum, I apologise.
I have a Winca S160 installed in a 2012 VW Tiguan – it’s generally OK, although I’m disappointed it can’t play FLAC audio files.
I’m a bit of an audiophile so about to invest in upgrading the speakers and adding a real amp to the car, however I’m still stuck with the source being a generic android tablet with very little consideration to sound quality…
(I know I could get a dedicated head unit but I need Waze and the parking camera)
So I’m thinking what if I got an external USB DAC (Schiit Modi 2, Fragonfly etc) and then connected the DAC’s outputs to the amplifier etc? That would supercharge the sound quality, no?
That way the S160 acts as a transport (basically a fancy hard drive for the music files), and sends bitstream to the DAC that then renders the music.
The question is that possible? I’m not too familiar with Android in general, but I know there are DACs that work with it.
So hypothetically, if I added a USB dac, will it then act as the soundcard for the S160 and send all sounds through the DAC? Will this mean I could still use the steering controls to change the volume, skip tracks etc? Is it possible to do? Do you see a problem with this?
Any thoughts or ideas are welcome, thank you!

I just installed the winca s310 and the audio is normal which is not very satisfying to be honest and still searching for a way to fix that.

Use 2 Bluetooth-devices at the same time?

So as far as I know the Sony Xperia XZ1 Compact is capable of Bluetooth 5.0, on other brands like Samsung with Bluetooth 5.0 you can connect 2 Bluetooth-devices at same time. As example you can listen on 2 bluetoothspeakers simultaneously. Is there any possibility to do that on Sonys Stock Software as well?
Thx in advance
Of I look on my cellphone (XPZ) there is in the Developer Option an option to change the count of BT DEVICES, but I didn't know if it's work or not
Well I tried this once before but now it worked. Now I can connect to both devices and switch audio between them and the device. So thank you:good:
Do you or anyone else know if it is possible to play audio on both aswell. In sound settings I only can switch like stated.

Meshing, connecting to multiple devices, is down to Bluetooth V5. But that doesn’t mean application developers are going to design audio streaming to multiple devices. This is pretty complicated and a bit niche, I mean why would you want to?

USB Audio out?

Hi guys, I've noticed that when I connect my DAC to the type-c port on phone there's no audio.
Is there no sound routing through this interface?
Can it be enabled?
Thanks
I've noticed same thing.

Have you checked the "USB Audio Routing" in Developer Option menu?

Yes I did. We should contact Sony support, it's a small issue, an update will fix it easely.

I've tested only with Sony DAC from my Xperia XZ2. Maybe that one isn't compatible.
Maybe the Sony is passive, in that it passes through audio from the phones amp. The Meizu is active, it has its own DAC and Amp built in. Just a wild guess. Maybe the Xperia 1 II does not pass on audio from its built-in amp through the usb connection
USB-C audio works fine with the cable from my old Pixel 2XL. No settings needed.
I've tested using a Hidiz Sonata USB device and the USB audio player pro app and it'w working fine here.
XD05 Plus not connecting.
Doesn't seem to work with Xduoo XD05 Plus
The volume/power from the phone is barely okay for my IEMs, but it can't drive any of my headphones.
This was supposed to be an upgrade from my LGV30 (works fine with XD05) , unfortunately it's rather looking like I should have gone for a V50 or V60 instead.
I have checked in the developer options and it seems like USB Audio Routing is on by default.
Any recommendations to get it working would be appreciated.
I have just tested with my Dragonfly Black and that seems okay. At least it has sufficient power to drive most of my headphones to a reasonable volume. Still very keen to get it working with the Xduoo if I could though.
