Need some help with an error. I've seen a couple of posts about this, but no one was giving their situation/phone info to make any help effective. So, here goes.
I got a new SD card (bigger, and class 6). I used Backup (root) from the Market to save everything, partitioned my SD card, upgraded the partition to ext3, wiped my phone, re-installed Cyanogen's 4.2.13 (I use apps2SD) and the Community Hero Mix Theme (Reg Launcher and Stericsson's Lock Screen). Also reset the Radio Image, and have 2.22.19.261. Restored everything with the Backup app, then re-booted.
All apps are installed (successfully tested about 20). After Auto-Sync, I turned off syncing and ran fix_permissions, then re-booted. Gmail app's cache was cleared on a whim.
Now, whenever I go to download a Market update, I get the com.google.process.gapps Force Close. Unable to update any apps, although the whole list is there. Nandroid restore fixes everything, but I noticed my phone running MUCH faster after the wipe, so I'd like to get this figured out. Have tried the above process 3 times, but no success. And, like they say, Insanity is trying the same thing over and over again, but expecting different results.
you should start fresh anyway and next time please here

After wipe prob should be gone.
Next time, please post your questions in the Questions and Answers forum.
Moved.

Um, unfortunately that's a no. The wipe seems to be causing the problem. As I said, I've re-done this whole process 3 times. Every time I come back from the wipe, I have the force close. Only nandroid gets rid of the problem. And nandroid returns the lagginess issues.
Could try another rom like dwang or superD1.2 and see if you get the same errors.. I was getting gapps forceclose and tried many times finally I tried another rom "superd" and been happy since then! Stable and greeat speed
You just need to uninstall market updates in settings --> manage applications.
By the way, I would suggest not using backup for root users, usually the work required to come back from that is the same as from a fresh wipe.

I'm very familiar with manage applications uninstalls, however, the Market Updater app does not give un-install as an option. I can Clear Data, Clear Cache, Clear defaults (these three are grayed out), or I can Force Stop, which doesn't seem to do anything. Any other ideas?
New Symptom
As a result (I'm sure) of changing SD cards when the old one had all of my apps on it, I have about 10 apps that were protected that did not transfer by the Backup process. My phone thinks I have them, the Market thinks I have them, but I can neither uninstall them (option grayed out in the Market and they are non-existant in the Manage Applications menu), nor can I update them (as the Market seems to think I already have them). The shortcuts are of course broken, and the "Open" button in the Market is also grayed out.
Any ideas?
PS-I've tried clearing the Market cache, but didn't help.

Never mind, I popped my old SD in and used Titanium Installer to take care of my apps problem.
Still looking for help on the force close. Even does it straight after a factory wipe with vanilla 1.6!
I'm betting the Market Updater is the culprit, but can't seem to find a way to get rid of it.
Thanks in advance!

Hi All!
I'm new to this forum, but I registered because I had exactly the same problem. I've updated to the latest CyanogenMod 4.2.13. Since then I had the same crash ever since, i whipped about 4 times and downgraden step by step to 4.2.12 and 4.2.11 which all worked perfectly before. But now i had the same problem.
So i went back a few steps and reinstalled the HTC image which was needed to use the google apps again. When I installed this one. Then i booted it, hey everything works! Nice, reinstall Cyanogen 4.2.13 and just whiped it again (who cares ) and tadaaa, everything works.
Hope it works for you as well!
Good luck!
i was having the same issue when i was trying to install Cyanogens 4.2.13 coming from a different rom also. i found the solution here... hxxp://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/Operating-System-Software/the-process-com-process-gapps-has-stopped-unexpectedly-on-CM-s-4/td-p/288743
(don't know if i can post direct links to other sites so i just replaced the t's with x's at the beginning of the URL)
basically what you gotta do is flash cm-4.2.9.1 1st and after you sign in let it sync, then reboot and flash cm-4.2.13 over with no wipe and everything should be fine. let me know if this helps. it worked for me

Had the same problems.. started last night when I tried to use my VPN on the phone to sign in to Market.. once signed in.. google accounts asked me to sign in again..(verify account) big mistake.. as it seems that it has registered me twice on the phone somehow..
anyway.. the FC on sync came thick and fast.. was out last night.. so couldn't actually take the time to check what was going on..
today did some research..
for me.. after trying a few processes.. I have gone the route of using Titanium backup and freezing the Gmail applications.. I never used it anyway.. as used the stock HTC email program..
happy to report that the FC on sync's have now stopped..
Edits: nope bloody thing.. got a few this morning on bootup.. and it seems market is dead for me..
I have reformatted the card and wiped all cache's.. but still got problems..
hesitant to do a hard reset at the moment as using the phone in China.. So dont actually know what it will wipe out if I reset it?
Can someone chime in here for me..
so the question is.. if i do a hard reset.. will I lose the actually settings that make it hook in to the phone network?
and I suppose from this we get.. how do I pull all of these settings out of the phone to reuse them again after the reset?
Thats a HTC EVO with stock rom
few specs on the software..
Firmware : 2.1 update 1
Baseband version : 2.15.00.07.99
Kernel: 2.6.29-789bf291
Build number: [email protected] test2 (really.. whats this?)
Software number: 1.47.706.1
PRL Version : 1.71_003
PRL version: 00202
Thanks in advance..
Edit: after searching the net for the last few days for a fix.. its seems to be a Android bug.. no amount of wipes and resets put me back on track..
So in the end I went for a fresh Rom... Myn’s Warm TwoPointTwo - [RLS 5 - 01/07/2011] http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=793471

Hi everyone,
I got a little problem with my market. When i try t install apps there is a delay in showing the app content, the delay is about 32 seconds.
Ok no wipe is helping i wiped everything including SD. But i think it's because the google restore off apps.
Here is a logcat http://pastebin.com/rBYNK9sd i don't know where to look at so if someone can give a look?
I also started a thread at cyanogenmod > http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/index.php?/topic/2589-market-slow/ But i didn't get reallt help there so i'm trying here.
I'm running CM 5.0.6 Fresh install
Seems to be an issue with the Market itself. Been seeing the same thing here with both my N1 running Enoms and my partners stock MT3G
it always worked till i installed a fresh install then everything broke, if its the market then a wipe should had fixed it, right? or am i wrong here. anyways it really annoying the market doesn't work well anymore.
If you look at CM forum you will see that after a fresh isntall using another google account doesn't cause a problem. so i'm 99% sure it's because of the google restore off apps. how can i delete that back-up.
I saw in settings you could disable it and delete everything but that didn't work.
Hello Guys.
I actually have a problem. I flashed my phone with the firmware which has the bootloader on it. Gingerbread 2.3.3. JVJPG
It worked perfectly for about 2-3 weeks. Then i did something foolish. i forcestopped the 'maps' process . Thought it might free up some RAM.
now after that i continuously been getting the 'maps has been unresponsive and would forced stop' message on the phone. So to get rid of it I flashed the phone against thinking it would reinstall . But no. I kept getting that message after flashing aswell together with OTHER APPS also started giving the message.
i have cleared the cachet and factory reset the phone BUT STILL those APPS remain on the phone. they dont work just continuously gives the force stopped messages. The camera works but doesn't save the pics. Any app i want to d/L . it doesnt install says something about ' package is unresponsive'.
Thankfully the downland mode works. I flashed it yet again with FROYO but now it seem like the whole system has crashed !!
The wierd thing is that APPS dont seem to get uninstalled and no date is lost even after factory reset.
Can anyone help me with this ?
Also even if i uninstall the apps. after restarting the phone. they just remain on the phone !
but don't work
Got the firmware for this thead:

I get the following unresponsive and need to close down messages :
google partner setup
Google services framework
maps
etc.
Also process system is unresponsive.
Flash back to stock firmware, install a kernel with CWM recovery, download your chosen rom, before installing, reboot into recovery, before installing, got to mounts and storage, format system, data, cache and datadata, then wipe dalvik, then install custom rom all should be fine after that let me know bud
Sent from my CM7 modded I9000. Kernel is one mean son of a Glitch!
Thanks a lot Djice for the reply. I had an inkling that i had to meddle with the kernel now :s
The problem is I have never meddling with the kernel before. Can you help me find a suitable tutorial for all those steps?
I'll search for em as well.
Guys, Any detailed help?
havn't been able to solve the problem still.

ths thread has almost the same , but no replies on what to do
AS the title says, phone has become really slow. Previously had no problems.
I did change the CPU settings in ROM management toolbox which seems to me to be the culprit, i changed it back but the phone is still really slow at loading app icons on homescreen and in app drawer.
I have reset permissions, scanned for viruses, cleared cache, etc. But still slow.
Anyone an idea what to do besides boot into recovery and resinstall Marvel? or is that really the best way????
Cheers in advance.

Did you want to try the Marvel 12 Beta?
http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=9390362690511177071
Install, do a factory reset, set the governor, and see if it does the trick.
I recommend installing the Xperia Launcher 2.05b. Hopefully Tantrums will be including this in v12 Final:

Your issue may also be related to a specific app you've installed. I ran into issues with a particular app after an automatic upgrade, and it took me a while to figure out the culprit. I contacted the developer and he was quick to fix the issue, but this stuff does happen. Many times you can figure out what's going on by reading the "1-star" reviews for your installed apps on the Play Store. I would message the developer if you find something.
Cheers.
I was thinking of installing v12, but thought id wait until it was officially released.
I guess i will uninstall all apps, to see if it makes a difference, then if not i guess i will reinstall v11 for now.
Actually, thats just too slow, i will ust reinstall v11 ROM.
Thanks.

If you are on Marvel11 and want to reinstall Marvel11 cause you want to change anything in the settings or just cause there did anything go wrong just reboot to recovery and start the Aroma install package of Marvel11 without any whippe at all, that's all, should fix everything.

Yea thats what i did. All was ok.
but then i started to clean up files on my phone. I think i deleted some files i should not have and now i have a phone that i cant enter into recovery mode. It just boots up and shows the coloured X from the X-peria bootloader (for some reason cos i didnt install it) asks for SIM unlock, which i do, but it only shows a handful of apps, standard ones i imagine, but no fast rebbot, or ROM toolbox, or CWM app. So then how do i now enter recovery??????
AHHHHHHHH!!!!! LOL
Ah i found a possible way out of this conundrum i found myself in i think
i had access to play store, so as i couldnt see ROM toolbox in apps, i redownloaded it so i could enter recovery mode.
So that i have done, now i just need to see what i have when the phone has rebooted, but i think that will have worked.
I think i must have deleted the data files or something when cleaning up the phone :/
Yea. looks like i have to reinstall all apps. No biggy then. Phew!!
Just a little reminder: If you use Windows 'adb reboot recovery' will do the trick too.

Yea, im on mac, so ncd.
OK so now my process.com android.mms keeps closing on me, effectively i have no MMS.
Anyone a solution?
I have reset Darvik Cache and normal cache. Fixed permissions. Uninstalled the app through ROM toolbox, then reinstalled the ROM. Still no joy,MMS just will not run.
Ideas?
Or should i just install Marvel v12?

A fresh install with v12 Beta will take less time than you've already spent. Just have your additional apps (outside the Play Store) in a folder on the SD card.

Should i preform a factory reset as well? I ask because i am on Mac, so performing any procedures where i need to hook up the phone to a computer, although not impossible, is a bit of a task. Will installing Marvel v12 actually fix the issue in itself?????
I have actually installed Go SMS Pro and Handcent, which work in terms of being able to retrieve MMS, but it hasnt done anything to fix the stock/Optimus G MMS app.
Hehe, I should install Marvel 12 i know, I am just holding back a bit.

I do a full factory reset after any ROM install.
I use Go SMS too. I liked Pansi soooo much, but the last update continually crashes on my Marvel ICS.
Remind me please, if the full factory reset means i will need a PC to fix anything, or if i can perform a full factory reset and install either Marvel v11 or v12 without needing a computer?

You install the ROM, then you do the factory reset.
The factory reset returns things to a raw ROM state, getting rid of anything you've added since installing the ROM. So yes, it will wipe anything you download from the Play Store. I do it immediately after installing the ROM.
Put Marvel 12 Beta on the SD card (root directory), and any non-Play Store items you'd like to install in a folder on the card.
In advance: I may be a idiot.
I received my LG L90 D410hn yesterday and was happily fooling around. Summing up, all I'd done was:
instaling LG OTA update
successfuly rooting it (towel)
installing greenify pro/donation edition
installing Classic Messaging
Installing Google Launcher (sideloading apk)
Greenifying the bloatware described all along this thread
Eveything was running smooth and crisp, but the dialer design really got to my nerves. So I decided to try to install my LG Optimus 2X custom rom's dialer (The ROM) because that is NEAT.
I backed up my original Phone apk and other related apps with ES File Explorer just in case and uploaded the apks to my Dropbox.
Then I proceeded to uninstall the Phone app. The try was rewarded with a "unsuccesful" message, but the app was seemed gone from the system apps list. So I tried to install the dialer from the Custom rom... no success. I decided to give up, restored the back up and everything was OK.
I went to bed and even dreamed about this marvelous phone, just to wake up to a... Well:
"com.android.phone crashed" messages
no access to any of my SMS apps - stock or Classic Messaging. It just closes with no warning or error message
No data connection. Actually, my SIM wasn't recognized at all after a while
I took my SIM card and put it back in my old phone and, until I rebooted for the second time, the card was problematic, but now it's ok.
How can I clean this mess? I tried to clean the Phone cache to no success, then proceeded to a factory reset with the same outcome
(I have no MicroSD card on the L90)
Follow this Guide and reflash stock rom. :good:

When you place your original dialer back into its original place, make sure the permissions are r-w-rr, and then reboot. If that doesn't work, I'm sure someone else can help you out. There's a fix for this besides reflashing the KDZ.

Thank you, guys! I ended up reflashing KDZ. It was a breeze though, so no hard feelings.
I did, indeed, read about the permission settings, but couldn't find a good guide at the time so I let it slip.
Reflash KDZ didnt fix it for me
I have an almost identical problem after attempting to install the google dialer. I reflashed the phone but it still had all the previously loaded apps still in it including the dialer and services. Any ideas what to do next? The dialer and services have the correct permissions. I noted in another post that the version on these is 0.
