Greenify New Features - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Oasisfeng the dev of greenify updated the app Introducing new feature specific to Android M.
Two in particular are -
Shallow Hibernation : Link
Aggressive Doze : Link
(Links are for info)
My question is that is that are these features fully compatible to this device.
As I'm using doze settings editor also. I'm afraid there'll be conflicts with these settings
Shallow Hibernation is kinda good cause I've been using it for a couple of hours and its better since no apps needs to be killed for hibernation so app startup time is quicker.
Doze Settings editor configs as from this thread : Extreme battery life by v7

Sure
Hello and thank you for using Q/A,
if your ROM supports Doze, you can enable aggressive Doze in Greenify. No conflicts.

Battery Drain
Hi,
I have some issues concerning the battery drain. As I dont use the cellular connections, I turned on flight mode and enabled WiFi manually. I also setup the WiFi to turn off while the Tablet is in StandBy. Still I an loosing about 1% battery per hour. Within the old 4.1.2 ROM, this was far better. I just wanted to check if others experience the same and this is normal with KitKat or if there is some setting which ensures an improved behavior within deepsleep (asuming that my device will go into deepsleep, didnt check).
Thanks for all the answers and a big thank to all the guys behind this rom. I really like it!!

KitKat for our device is not a really good build compared to JB. I suggest you to try Ultra Power Saving Mode to reduce the drain caused by other apps and system services.

Yeah, I guess I could do that, but the ultra power saving mode has a gray scale theme and also only a limited number of apps which can be used. Thats like buying a BMW and then replacing the enginge and putting in pedals instead.
My guess is, that the device does not properly enter deep sleep. Within deep sleep, the device should not waste more than 1%-2% overnight.
How can I check if the device enters deep sleep?

I meant that you can do this to reduce the drain when you don't use the tablet. Anyway download CPU spy and check deep sleep. I suggest you to use greenify to freeze background services and improve deep sleep time.

According to cpu spy deepsleep has never been used. Is this a kernel issue? Is there any way i can activate deepsleep, mayby with an exposed module or app?

Sounds like an app wakelock thingy. Use greenify to stop bg processes maybe?

I also thought about a wakelock. Well greenify tells me that there are no bg processes to be stopped. I also used 'ds battery saver', which worked well on my i9001 and should force the device to go into deepslepp, which did not work.
I will have a look at this tomorrow. I guess i can use adb to check the wakelock (suggestions welcome

not my strong suit (I'm just a tinkerer, absolutely NO programming skilz).
Good luck and please keep me up to date, and I will look into it myself and compare to my stock build.
Hallo @smegg, which one is more stable, this rom or N8020XXUDNE4 v2.01?
What is the different between this rom and N8020XXUDNE4 v2.01?
Thank you for your great work

Dose 3.5.2 disposed the build-in aggressive doze mode and app hibernation?

When I looked at the battery optimize interface,I found that google's stock battery optimize strategy replaced the previous build-in aggressive doze mode and app hibernation, but I cant find any information in the update logs of 3.5.2
Yup its gone. You could always go with forcedoze if you want

Battery Optimization not available

Does any one have any idea how to disable doze for apps in which battery optimization is not available? I am trying to disable doze for Download Manager because whenever the screen turns off the file stop downloading. Any app or any method to disable doze on battery optimization not available apps?

That is not an app thing. That is something google added to save battery. I found it when I was looking to disable doze completely in the rom I run. So you will have to compile your own rom with the needed changes.

how to prevent certain service from being closed

Hi all
Is there any way to prevent MIUI from closing an app that run as a service ( there is no actual app running when you check recent apps ) so you actually can't lock anything
The nHead notifications pubble is a great app but I can't find anyway to keep it running forever other wise MIUI will auto close or even when I clean memory
I'm on stock global latest 8.2.2 with no root
I have tried completely disabling battery optimization but no luck
Also the exception list in the cleaner security app is useless as I can't add any app to exception
Please any advise is appreciated
Thanks
Security>permissions>autostart.
Enable autostart for that app
From battery saver turn off ultimate mode.
STOP USING THE CLEAR ALL BUTTON IN RECENTS TAB. Never do this.
From developer options set memory optimization to off

Battery Saving Tips Root / UnRooted

I just wanted to make a quick rundown of things I do to phones, even if they have a large battery.
- Go into app info, then battery, then enabled "Background Restriction" for apps that don't need to have fast notifications. I do this for apps like XDA, Feedly, Amazon etc. Given enough time Adaptive battery will do this for you, but I go in manually for any new apps or ones that I still might use frequently. (UnRooted)
- Download Naptime and enable aggressive doze. Also play around with the experimental features. I disabled location when Doze mode is enabled. (UnRooted)
- Download Servicely from the same dev. I disabled apps when my screen turns off and whitelist phone, messaging apps and other high importance apps. (Root)
- Use Tasker to automate Battery Saver Mode when your screen turns off and disable it when the screen comes back on. Naptime can also do this in the experimental settings, but I use Tasker to trigger it based on conditions like battery percentage, etc. (UnRooted)
- Install the Universal GMS Doze in Magisk. Combining this with Naptime really helps for standby. (Root)
- Install AdAway from F-Droid. This is a small thing, but less data use for pulling ads means better battery. It's a stretch, but the other benefits are no more ads! (Root)
This is what I've got done so far. Once custom kernels are released I'm going to use the Franco kernel app to make per app customizations to underclock the CPU and GPU for apps like Messages and other lite apps to really squeeze more battery.
With these optimizations I can easily make a full day. I haven't gotten a solid SOT number yet as I change in my car through Android Auto most days, but I really want to test a day completely off a charger to see what it's like.
Again, these are things I do on even large phones like the OnePlus 7 Pro and it's almost doubled my battery life on phones. Plus, these are set and forgot things and should only require a little bit of setup.
I hope this helps yall eek out some more battery out of our awesome devices! I can start to use the phone without worrying about battery anxiety.
Or you can just enable battery saving, and don't optimize apps you really need.
That's true, and I have it enable when the screens off. I'm not sure is restricting background use AND battery saver are doubling up and helping save more battery, but I want the option to have a light theme, so restricting battery for apps gives me that option
