This is actually a whole issue other then that. I should start by saying I'm usually very good at flashing roms to stock but I recently screwed up. I'm running windows 10, my HBoot is 1.44, Cingular HTC One M7. I recently sold the phone, and upgraded to the newest version of Android Revolution. Everything was running great, moved my pictures to my computer.
The next part is where I guess I screwed up? My computer was reading the phone until I went into TWRP and formatted the Internal Storage trying to rid the rest of the files on my device before I ship it. I've done this before on my Nexus 6 with no issues.
Next thing I know the phone won't boot past the HTC screen, not a boot loop per say just stuck on the screen. Windows is reading the device and saying the "Device Enumeration Failed" thus making it so I can't sideload through ADB or run a RUU file or anything. Can boot into TWRP, can boot into fastboot and bootloader. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling drivers to no avail.
If anyone can help me I'd appreciate it greatly.

What is your HTC listed as in Device manager when connected to your pc?
It may just be that you borked the drivers when you formatted the phone. In which case reinstalling the drivers won't help. You need to point device manager the driver you want it to use.
Try this
Open "Device Manager" -> select the unknown "One" -> right-click -> "Update Driver Software ..." -> "Browse my computer" -> "Let me pick" -> "Android USB Devices" -> select "My HTC ..." -> install the latest :good:

Thanks for the reply. It comes up as Generic USB Device or something similar, I'm not home right now to check honestly. I've tried uninstalling all HTC drivers and reinstalling and plugging my phone back in and pointing it to the location of the "Updated" drivers I've found on the forum but it still reads Device Enumeration Failed. A warning message does come up when I plug the phone in saying the device has malfunctioned and can't be read or something along those lines as well.
Okay so I got the device to boot into the ROM but bow system UI keeps crashing and I'm not able to access the internal SD card to transfer files to it. Any suggestions?

Have you any experience with Linux? That should cure the device enumeration error, since Linux doesn't require drivers for android devices.
Then you can use adb in recovery to repair the sd storage.
You can also do Format Data in twrp. But this will wipe the entire device including the Rom, so you will still need to sideload or something to get a Rom installed.

I have been trying to make this work for 2 days now and it still won't recognize my phone. I for sure have fastboot.exe, adb.exe, and AdbWinApi.dll in the C:\WINNT\system 32 folder on my computer. I am running windows 2000 SP4. I connect my g1 while its in the bootloader and displays fastboot in the middle of the screen, it asks to update drivers, and so i do. I use the "x86" driver found in the SDK because that is what i used to set up adb. It installs the driver, adds the "adb interface" category with "HTC Dream" under it, and asks me to reboot because hardware changes have been made. Oh and next to "HTC Dream" there is a little yellow exclamation point and when you double click on it it says "cannot start, code 10." I do a reset and whenver it starts up it doesn't ask me to install new drivers, but that little exclamation point is still there. Any help would be appreciated!

If you're using the new SPL (1.33.2005) or the Sapphire SPL, you need the updated USB driver.
After I started using my Win 7 system, I had to do the whole process of updating and flashing my device. After like 3 hours going back and fourth to find the solution, I found it is a pretty strange way. In a place where I would never have thought before:
The problem is about Drivers.
I've found there are two type of drivers:
1. ADB/Bootloader interfaces (usb_drivers we download from Android SDK). This are useful in the first part of the HOWTO since we need to run some ADB commands. This might be also useful during the rooting process
2. MyHTC drivers (both boot and standard). This are the basic HTC drivers for using with several software like HTC Sync AND for flashing phone. This are installed during the HTC Sync installation process.
How to know which driver is using at each time?
Under Control Panel -> System -> Device Manager -> We might find a driver called Android Phone.
1. With the phone in the Start menu into it we might see either:
a) ADB Interface
b) My HTC
2. If we go into the bootloader (rebooting device, volume down + power button) we might see
a) Bootloader
b) My HTC
If we need to FLASH, the we need in both parts My HTC
If we see anything else, we need to update the driver. Just by going into properties of the driver, Controller, Updating Controller -> Find Controller into the PC -> Select from the list of controllers of this PC -> Use Disk and we must look for the HTC Driver that is installed during the HTC Sync Installation process (Normally this is into Program Files-> HTC -> HTC Driver).
Finally we can update the driver by selecting the My HTC one from the list.
This worked perfectly for me, and make me discover this issue that may help some people. I write this as a complement for my guide for flashing to make it wider and more complete: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=603286
Sorry to bump an old thread, but I'm having this issue with a friends HTC Legend.

What do you mean exactly by going into the properties of the driver? (Win 7 64bit)
Thanks.

I am trying to flash a HTC Desire S with Android ICS (latest from htcdev WWE) and it connects fine, but when I get to "Waiting for Bootloader........" it does that for a minute, then says "Error [171] USB Connection Error" The phone shows the HTC logo with black screen. My laptop says "USB Device Not Recognized" too and it fails. What can I do to fix this? I have installed the ADB and SDK also the HTC drivers and HTC Sync, tried everything please help

Ah I see. Any idea how I could probably fix this? I'm using Windows 8 and I have scoured XDA and the internet for 29 hours straight for answers and turned up empty. I have no MicroSD card to perform the update using the PB99xx.zip method and all other methods are useless. I just want a straight-forward RUU update for my phone but can't seem to do it without that silly Error 170/171 and USB Device Not Recognized errors
Im used to being able to remove the sdcard on my previous phones and did not forward think what would happen if a flash went bad on my htc one. Basically, I tried wiping and flashing ARHD 10.0 and I believe I should have updated the radios first. In any case, I did a wipe and now have no os to boot. I can get into the bootloader and fastboot usb just fine. I have cw touch recovery and can run that fine also. When in recovery I cannot mount the sdcard to move files. When I try to adb push them, I get the error that the device is not detected. I have installed htc sync. In my device manager it shows an "Other device" with "One" underneath and an exclamation mark - drivers not installed. I would have thought HTC sync would have fixed this but I even tried the google adb usb driver and windows doesnt like it. I have this problem on WinXP 32-bit and also the same issue on my Win7 64-bit. If I can get ADB functioning, I think I can fix this and really dont want to resort to the RUU via fast boot. What am I missing? Thanks.
So, everytime I connect my HTC One to the computer, the computer never recognizes the internal storage. I must go to "Control Panel" > "View devices and printers" (category view under "Hardware and Sound") > right click on MTP (and do the troubleshoot thing to apply fix)
to make it work.
Once I do that, then the internal storage gets recognized. If I reconnect with the comp still on afterwards, it will show up, but when I turn off comp or restart, I must do the troubleshoot thing again. I think it's a driver issue. Any suggestions? I'm running Windows 7 64-bit. I am on ViperOne 2.7.0, S-Off, Super-CID. Although, I don't think it's an issue with rom. I've even used stock rom and same thing happens.
EDIT: It is a driver issue, but why do I have to reinstall it every time the computer shuts down or restarts?

Uninstall HTC Sync and any driver you may have right now for your cellphone and install these naked drivers.

Hello XDA,
I am only able to read data on the phone when connected via USB on windows. On the phone itself I can change whatever I want ( Via ES-explorer for example) But in windows file explorer I can't. It will not tell me that I do not have proper writing rights, but instead just decides to freeze for 10 minutes everytime I try to make a file change, to eventually give me a beautiful
"windows explorer is not responding" pop-up
What I have tried :
-Rebooting,
-Reinstalling USB drivers,
-Switching USB debugging on and off,
-Reinstalling root,
-Installing the newest Oxygen OS update from February,
-used different cables (also an old micro USB with adapter) And nothing works.
This sucks because I was just trying to change my photography workflow from being Desktop based to being Android based..
Any suggestions ?
Greetings,
Thijs

Did you maybe noticed when this problem occurs to you? I know that one months ago it just did work. Should I reinstall Windows completely?
I've been talking to a few people and it's happening to them to on Windows 10 I think it's just a bug from a recent update try a roll back

How should one file a bug-report for windows 10 then, this can't be something that shouldn't keep unnoticed by them.
Did rolling back fix something for you, and how did you do so?
I've checked another Windows 10 computer which hasn't been updated and it recognises my one plus 3T so if you Google / YouTube windows 10 roll back it should work
Hmm this does suck. This means I cant be up to date on windows for now. Anybody have different suggestions?

The only other thing I could suggest is using a virtual machine to run win 7
Did you try back usb ports?. My pc with windows 10 fails with the front ports.
Solution
Backup all the data in your internal memory and try the 'format data' option from twrp to wipe your internal storage. It could solve your problem, as it did in my case.
New solution, just done works!
Plug in your phone and on the computer go to device manager (have phone in MTP mode)
you'll find the phone as a unknowen device
right click on this select "update driver software..."
a window will pop up select "browse my computer for driver softaware"
then on the next bit select "let me pick from a list of device drivers on my comupter"
then you will have a box with "MTP Device" and "MTP USB device"
select "MTP USB device" hit next and it should work 100%

Which version of TWRP are you running? The thing is that If I afterward can't restore the data via USB haha, then the whole point of backing it up seems invalid

This solution did not work for me. I am using W7 and OOS 5.0.3 rooted. Tried updating MTP drivers in W7, the phone shows up but no data shows in the drive. Still looking for a solution. Can someone please post W7 drivers that work for them? Thank you.

I doubt there's much we can suggest that you haven't already tried. Try another cable/USB Port/uninstall device from Device Manager and let Windows find the driver. Hell, you probably did all that already.
