Hello,
I was hoping someone could help me with my issue. I'm trying to access my APN settings but my option is missing there's no way to access the setting. I was wondering if this issue is isolated to just me or all LG g4 sprint users. I was hoping to create a new apn. Please assist!
Edit: I'd like to specify I'm on lollipop ZV5 stock rooted.
Thank you!
I'd like to add this SS to show you it's missing. It should be under connection optimizer.
Weird....mine just has APN settings. Might want to update the rom to ZV6.

What happens when you dial "##3282#" ?
Don't know why it wouldn't be there.

yesterday i download an app called toggle data from the market and tried to see if it worked. well it worked turning of data but now my phones data wont turn back on. keeps saying disconnected even when i make a testing shortcut.
and i uninstalled itconfused. can anyone download the app and post it so i can install it bk to my phone to see if i can get it to turn my data back on. if that fails i don't know what to do.HELP!!! plz
Edit: Just read camurphy's post below. He (or she) is the developer of the toggle app and explains how it works in detail.
Hi djlucklu,
I am very sorry about the trouble my application caused you. jashsu is correct. It is similar to APNDroid however it modifies the APN type of each APN on the phone. It sets APN type to a single hyphen and this prevents the phone from connecting to that access point. It stores the original value of APN type into a database when disabling, and when re-enabling it restores these values. This method works perfectly on my development G1 and in the emulator however unfortunately for about 50% of people it seems something is failing.
Go to Settings -> Wireless controls -> Mobile networks -> Access Point Names and edit each access point in the list. Make sure that APN type is not set to a hyphen. If you clear the value (it will be displayed as '<Not set>') the phone should try and connect to that access point.
I hope this works for you and once again I am very sorry about this.
Hey again, I located the bug that prevented the app from working on your phone. Version 1.1 is now published on Android Market and that bug is fixed.
Clearing the value of APN type for all the access points on your phone should let you connect to the Internet again.
Apologies again for the inconvenience.
I have a problem reconnecting, I have to reboot/or toggle airplane mode on-off before I can reconnect.
Im no expert on HSPDA but I have had a simmilar problem with incorrect WAP/HSPDA settings on my old nokia where if I put the settings in wrong I would have to reboot the phone before it would connect (this was using Nokia PC suite on my computer)
I had 2 simcards "Vodaphone" and "Three" Ie if I forgot to change the setting to from "3internet" to "vodanet" I would have to reset the phone.
What about mms?
Hi Cameron
I just downloaded your app and it works fine.
My only issue is that it also disables the mms apn. I'm then even not notified that I received an mms until I reactivate it by putting back manually 'mms' in the APN type of the mms apn.
Would it be possible to avoid disabling APNs that have 'mms' as APN type?
Thank you
The G.
Hi FuentesGG,
I released version 2.0 today that is in the form of a home screen widget. When you add the widget to your home screen it allows you to specify whether you'd like to leave MMS enabled. Hope this helps
i love the app, thx camurphy
Hi Cameron,
I've just installed the update to 2.0 and after installing the widget on my screen when the button is green I'm not able to connect and when it's not green.... I'm not able to connect too!
Could you please provide me a solution as the previous advise from this post doesn't work on my phone (HTC Magic from Proximus in Belgium!)
Thx in advance.
Ok... that's working now!!
I've restored my APN settings! Thanks for the app but... that would be great not to break all connections when update is installed!
Thanks !!!

This is just great!!
The widget works fine and visual feedback on the widget is perfect.
Big thanks ;-)

Hi camurphy. I installed your widget today and as soon as I used it I am unable to send sms. I can receive them but not send them. I've tried factory reset and reflashing. Replacing the mms.apk. everything I could think of. I hope you have a solution. Thanks in advance
I know some have discovered how to access this menu on a WP7 device or two by dialing ##634# on the dialpad. We know this does not work on the HD7.
Has it been discovered for this phone yet? I'm in a bind where Wind Mobile has issues with WP7 devices and MMS messaging and read a few got it working by performing some changes within this menu.
No idea if this helps, but there's an HTC app called Connection Setup. It detects the carrier you're on and applies apn settings. Really not sure, but maybe it applies an apn for mms as well?

Actually that was my last resort and I tried that already. Sure it gave me a list of carriers to choose from but did not help even when selecting "Wind" in the end. I got excited for about 20 seconds.
People with Samsungs were able to resolve their issues by accessing this menu. So I have to rely on either someone getting the codes for the HD7 or if MS releases some kind of fix in their big update next month.
I have a Verizon Droid 3
I unlocked it with the unlock code.
I flashed it 'Flash+Verizon+DROID+3+OTA+5.6.890+to+phone_psouza4'
I rooted it 'Pete's Motorola Root Tools'
NOW, when I insert my sim card I go to Mobile Network Settings..
I see the GMS/UMTS settings.. I go to access point names and I see.
APNs
T-Mobile US
epc.tmobile.com
And it's in green, so that's good.. but I want to use it with Simple Mobile?
Simple Mobile runs on T-Mobile.
HELP?
try adding the APN information from this website http://simplemobile.webs.com/index/Android Configuration/Android Configuration.html
Oh I've tried... no luck. It still doesn't work. The APN settings are SIMPLE Mobile right now..
What do I do ?
Is it something in ##program? Because I wouldn't know where to get those values anyhow.
The settings on that site linked are very outdated. Do it like this...
Name SIMPLE Mobile
APN simple
MMSC http://smpl.mms.msg.eng.t-mobile.com/mms/wapenc
Everything else leave it as is, save, and make sure to check the dot after you save it. If it doesn't work you can try adding the MMS Proxy (216.155.165.50) and Port (8080), but that's all you need to do. I am a Simple Mobile dealer (the service is pretty horrible to be honest), and this works for every Android phone I've done (including the Droid Incredible 2), keep in mind when it does work that you will only get 2G service (EDGE).
Have rooted TMo version with the latest update. The built in AT&T settings are acting up. Does anyone have a way to delete them? All options to edit are greyed out for me.
When I add the APN I need, the phone uses it for a while and then defaults to the wrong setting.

here is another thread with the same kind of issue

I didn't see this readily available and with many people not wanting to root and trip their Knox counter, I thought I'd show you how to get adblocking without root. This will work on both wifi and mobile data.
--First step would be to install Adblock Plus APK. I got mine from: https://adblockplus.org/en/android-install
--After installing, run the app once and activate filtering. It should now be blocking all ads on wifi only. To enable adblock on mobile data you need to add a proxy to your APN.
--Go to system settings>network connections>more networks>mobile networks>access point names. What you need to do now is go to you default APN and copy down all the settings. We only do this because you cannot edit the original APN it seems. Now create a new APN and enter in the copied settings. The only additional settings you add to add to the new APN is:
---Proxy: localhost
---Port: 2020
Make sure you set the new APN you created as active and adblocking should be working! I have done this on my T-mobile S5. Hopefully some of you will find this useful.
I can confirm this works, just tested it several times. Thanks!
Gonna give this a test.

I had to modify my proxy for wifi and the app seems to be working (I need to find something that has ads, ha)...but I'm unable to modify my AP on my sprint s5.

Not able to create a new APN on my VZW S5.. Boo

Hi guys,
Sometime Adblock Plus crash... quite annoying.
I've decided to root mostly for AdAway ...
it works well on tmobile croatia , just added new apn
Thanks for this, it works, but have to manually add proxy and port to every single wlan network.
It is working for me.
It doesn't seem to work with Verizon phones. Anyone no verizon get this to work? Apparently you can't even create new APN's on verizons s5
Works great. Thanks so much!!!!!!
Works!
And we have to do this settings in every wifi network or just once ?
Thanks
Followed instructions exactly. Filtering says enabled, new APN selected. Still not working for me. AT&T variant S5.

Thanks, it worked like a charm. No root on AT&T and not having some sort of ad blocking was killing me. You are awesome and I hit your thanks button.
I cant add the new APN on a Verizon galaxy s5, does anyone know how?

I have since rooted my phone so I forget. I think you might have to add a proxy to every connection you use

I don't believe you can adblock on the Verizon S5. My friend had one and I couldn't get it working on his device

Hmm, it for sure works on AT&T. Did you add the proxy settings to the new APN?
