I needed to transfer some files from my N1 to my Pc, so I connected it to my PC using the cable. I was expecting the black mounting screen prompting me to mount the SD card, but nothing happened. I restarted my device twice, but the case is still the same. What could have been wrong? I have not installed any app within this time, not removed any. I have used it in just ordinary daily manner, messaging and calling and nothing else. My N1 runs on Froyo, OTA. No jailbreak.
Please help. Thank you
u need to assign a drive letter to your SD card
Noob answer: is it on the status pulldown bar?
Do you have USB Debugging enabled?
Does the phone recognise that it's been plugged in (ie start charging)?
Similar problem
I am having a similar problem with my N1 running CM6 stable. When I turn off USB debugging and plug the phone into my Win7 laptop, I get the USB connected screen, but when I turn on USB storage the SD drive doesn't mount i.e. I cannot see/access the drive in Windows 7. The N1 status bar says USB storage is on.
Under Device Manager, the N1 shows up as Android Phone-->Android ADB Interface with driver version 2.0.10.2 dated 11/08/2009.
Any help would be much appreciated.

No, THIS is exactly the problem, the phone dies not recognise that it has been connected to a computer. It does start charging, but no sign of SD memory mount/unmount. Nothing. Just simply charging.

No, USB debugging is not enabled. I double checked it.
I guess that Windows also doesn't recognize the phone as anything (Device Manager doesn't show anything new plugged in)?
In that case, enable USB Debugging, and see if the phone is recognized by Windows.
If it is - the problem is somewhere in SW.
If it isn't - then it might be a faulty USB cable or connector (from any side - phone or PC).
same thing happens to me from time to time. restart your computer and that should fix your problem.

I seem to be having a very annoying problem with my Galaxy S when i attempt to use it as "PC Internet" when i plug it in via USB Port.
I plug it in via USB and select PC Internet but after random times its as if i unplugged it and re plugged it back in. I hear the windows sound that you get when you unplug a USB device. So basically for some reason i cannot seem to maintain a connection through USB. Sometimes it works for 10 minutes, sometimes it works for 1 minute ect.
I have tried to set my usb's power save feature off and still getting an issue with it. I have also tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers to no success.
Not sure if this could be the problem but im running windows 7 64 bit. Hoping that its not a 64bit related issue.
Any help or suggestions would be appreciated.
thx.
forgot to mention im running the stock 2.1 update 1 on the bell version of the phone.
Picked up a tab on craigslist last night and when I got home to root and mod it I couldn't get it to connect to my PC.
The drivers would try to install but failed repeatedly. I tried Kies, no dice. I even had a pop-up once telling me I overloaded the USB hub or something.
Also, I can't get it to charge via USB, and can't get it to charge via wall socket unless its turned off.
Any advice? Getting frustrated.

nobody else is having this issue?
today i tried to continue my blind search for info only to find that either A: nothing happens when i plug my tab into my computer, or B: i get an error from the computer saying something about a power surge on the usb port.
ive been googling for info all day long and cant find a solution. i found a few suggestions...
the only reasonable ones so far:
faulty USB cable. i get the red x in the battery icon when its plugged into the wall or the computer, but it charges when its turned off
Verizon doesnt allow/include Kies. its not there in the usb connection settings, only mass storage and media player. when i select mass storage, i DONT get asked to mount an sd card.
anybody?
I made a thread on here previously about an issue I had with my phone not going past the bootscreen and finally got it resolved. The problem I'm having now though is when I plug it up to my pc with the usb cable, i don't receive a prompt on the computer for connecting the phone so i can transfer files. I've got htc sync manager installed, which I believe is supposed to install the drivers as well for the phone? I've turned on the developer options and enabled usb debugging, still with no luck. I know the cable is good because I can connect my eReader and it syncs up fine with the pc. What else could I do to get it to connect?
I tried reaching out to support, but I'm honestly not going to hold my breath.
I previously was able to use my Red Magic 6 with my Mac (Monterey 12.5.1). But after updating to the most recent version(NX669J UNCommon V6.12), I am now no longer able to connect my phone to my mac and utilize it via USB Debugging. I can connect to my computer without USB Debugging with the File Transfer option, but once I enable the debugging, it flips out. I've recorded a video of what happens when I do this. I can also utilize my black shark via USB debugging just fine like it always has.
I've tried to downgrade it by downloading and adding the ROM to the root directory, but it only accepts the local update if the version matches the current one. With no USB Debugging, I don't see how else I could downgrade to go back to a version that works. I am wondering if anybody has any idea on how to solve this issue, and if anybody else has experienced this issue.
