Upgrade options - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge

I currently have a S6Edge G925A on 5.0.2 (G925AUCU1AOE2). I haven't upgraded in a while and haven't kept up with the scene too much. What are my upgrade options? What is "stable" and won't flip Knox?
Links would be great.

You can upload OTA from at&t to get 5.1.1 last version. Or use odin to update, you can find files under general. Its all stack

Well, I thought I would do a little bit of digging to see where things have progressed since my build was released. These are the builds that have released since my build number G925AUCU1AOE2 (in order of recent release):
G920AUCU3BOJ7
G920AUCU3BOI2
G920AUCU2AOF4
G920AUCU2AOF3
As far as I can tell from http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/general/root-pingpongroot-s6-root-tool-t3103016 none of these are supported builds for a root. So I guess a root isn't possible for these AT&T builds, yet

Do not update if you want root.. to my knowledge only rootable up to oe2..
and those build versions are the same but if you do update youll need updated firmware for the G925A as the G920A is the regular s6 not the edge.

I'm still on 5.0.2 as well for root. I'm really not sure I need root, but damnit, I want it! I'm never buying another carrier branded phone. So sick of the lock-down of everything. Esp since they're not doing subsidized pricing anymore. No incentive to buy their branded one anymore. International version from now on!

Lollipop due on S4 active March-April 2015

http://www.theandroidsoul.com/andro...dule-samsung-htc-sony-motorola-manufacturers/
Google announced the Android 5.0 Lollipop a couple of days back and we’re already hearing news from various Android manufacturer partners for their Android 5.0 Lollipop update schedule. Major companies like HTC and Motorola announced their update plans right after a few hours of Google’s announcement, while Sony took a day to announce its update plans.
Just to be clear, the source article states that Samsung has NOT announced any plans to update to Lollipop, and the article goes on to speculate what those dates might be "based on past update cycles". So any of the dates are nothing more than pure guesses anyway. And the "date" given for the S4 Active would be a guess for the non-branded version supplied directly by Samsung. Anything that might or might not come for an AT&T version would come many months later, if at all. Just to be clear. Personally, while it would be fantastic to get Lollipop, I'm not holding my breath...
^_^
didn't get my kitkat update yet and you guys are talking about lolipop .... how sad am i !?
same here no update still on 4.2
I don't know about ota update, but people use official kitkat around 6 months. Install update via odin and job is done.

Wait---you received "Lollipop"? If so, care to share some links?
Nevermind----It looks like a slim chance. I'll be sticking with my trusty Optimus pro for now.

Yeah and if you actually read that, that release is for the i9295, not the i537. Don't confuse people
Is here only for i537?

Lollipop has been available for the international model (i9295) for months, it's called Cyanogenmod 12. The only people in this forum unable to use lollipop are those with the U.S. model (i537). Along with the fact that the title of that thread you linked to has the actual model number in its title (and the firmware build number does too), I'm not entirely sure what rebuttal you just failed to articulate, but I'd wager it's inaccurate.

Firstly, this thread never implied its about the us variant i537, so his rebuttal was very accurate.
Secondly, The official Lollipop release only came a couple of days ago for the i9295, which is clearly what the OP of the thread begun talking about. Many people in this forum were unable to use lollipop as not many people count a port of Cyanogenmod stable enough to use daily.
Hope that helps you understand this thread better =)
any danger from manual update?
Hi friends. Sure most of you knows about the official 5.0.1 update for S4active which released for nordic countries on sammobile.
I am sill on 4.2.2 in Saudi arabia. My question is : should i update manually to kitkat firstly befor i install lollipop? And is there any dangers for updating my phone to this European update?

I have an unlocked AT&T GS4 Active that I'm currently using through MetroPCS. I still have an AT&T sim card. If I put the AT&T sim card back in the phone, would I have the ability to get the Android 5.0 update? I assume the answer is No as the AT&T sim is not provisioned, but would the sim allow me to get the update over the air? Do all carriers look at the make, model, build # and carrier of all devices to make sure the phone is compatible? I'm assuming if this doesn't work, rooting is the only way. Also, since I have service through MetroPCS, will they update to Lollipop once available or does my model number, SGH-i537, make them think I have AT&T ( and will not update software for the phone )?
Does having an unlocked phone prevent software updates specifically when the phone was made for one carrier only ( AT&T Active )?
Will MetroPCS automatically push software updates to all their customers or to just those that have an approved device from Metro?

You need to have an active AT&T sim card to get the update automatically. MetroPCS nor any other carrier will never provide updates to an AT&T phone. This is similar to asking if Honda will upgrade the engine of your Ford truck, it's never going to happen. Your only option is to update the phone manually using the guides provided in this forum.

[Q] Not up to date with S5 at all. Update to Lollipop and keep root?

My girlfriend has an AT&T Galaxy S5. She's on Android version 4.4.2 (baseband version G900AUCU2AND3, build number KOT49H.G900AUCU2AND3). She's rooted with towelroot.
She's very keen on updating to Lollipop. The reason for this is that she's a very avid photographer and takes many shots on her phone. She is REALLY interested in trying out the RAW image processing.
I'd just like to know if she can update and keep root. So if anyone could help me out here or point me in the right direction since I don't know my way around this forum, that would be fantastic. Thank you very much.
Once we get a leak or the actual release, we won't know what Lollipop will have in store for the Dev's root wise. Everything now is speculative though the International version(G900F) has had good success with root and Lollipop.

I'm sorry, I just saw something after a quick Google that led to believe there *was* a release. So you're saying as of now, there's no Lollipop on G900, root or not?

The g900f, which is the over seas version, has had a limited release with lollipop. AT&T version, G900A, does not have lollipop yet.

No AT&T release as of yet, and even when (IF) it does drop and IF root is obtainable it is a longshot whether or not we will have SafeStrap or any other type of custom recovery

[Q] Question about ordering an S6 online/What android version it will come with.

Okay, first of all let me apologize if this is not the correct area for this thread. So tomorrow I'm going to buy an S6 from T-Mobile through their website, and overnight it to my house. Basically what I'd like to know is this: What are the rough odds of it shipping with Android 5.0.2? Also, if it ships with 5.1.1, is there any way I can downgrade it? Like using odin +Stock firmware? I don't really care if that trips knox, I'd just like to be able to root my new S6 Thank you
~Torvek
Once again, sorry if this is the wrong area Be gentle.
Nobody knows. It may ship with 5.0.2 but it may have 5.1.1 out of the box. No you cannot downgrade. Either way, 5.1.1 is rootable

Since 5.1.1 is rootable, (which I wasn't aware of ) I guess it doesn't matter which version it ships with! Thank you I do appreciate it.

Just note that 5.0.2 is rootable without tripping KNOX, but 5.1.1 is only rootable by tripping KNOX (for now)
5.1.1 is only about a week old, so I don't think there is any batches of S6 that are updated yet, majority are still on 5.0.2 if I had to venture a guess.

How do I update PingPong Rooted S6 Edge?

Model Number: SM-G925V
Android Version: 5.02
I know I can't use the OTA update, so how do I update?
This totally depends on what your build number is.
If your ROM version is G925VVRU1AOC3 then follow this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...nt/trailblazer101-lightlycleaned-rom-t3128758
If your ROM version is G925VVRU1AOE2 and you desire the latest build (which breaks root), I recomend you manually update after you follow this thread. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6-edge/general/sm-g925f-s6-firmware-thread-t3078841
Let me know if you had any issues

Does any one know a way to root with current update in place? To be honest I don't much care about the Knox trip. I want to install new roms and I never want to see samsung music player

As far as I am aware, there is no way to root the latest build, and likely never will be. If you read many of the threads, they all say the same thing, namely the OF1 build breaks root, has a kernel date that patches the exploit used in PingPong root, and makes it impossible to downgrade the firmware. There are plenty of ways to trip knox, yet none of them will root the latest build of the Verizon Galaxy S6 Edge. On the plus side, the latest build does have radio improvements.
Will there be any rooted ROMs after OE2?

Marshmellow Update for S5 ( bad news)

Just got off phone with ATT support and per Samsung specialist Marshmellow will not be rolled out for the S5 until the end of the year.
MOD EDIT:
If you want to discuss the Marshmallow update or provide new information, there are a few existing discussions to choose from, so no need to start another.
THREAD CLOSED
Those people don't have any more clue about when it will be rolled out than anyone else.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G900A using Tapatalk
but some of us already got - unofficial - marshmallow 6.0.1 a.k.a PG3 for our G900A....
and if PG3 has a some problem..although we find out, i think we have no method going back PA6 or former version of lollipop 5.1.1...
I was able to go back from pg3 6.0.1 to 5.1.1 pa2 and it works get odin file there's four of them and it deffently works then your phone will update to the rest one by one in till the latest lollipop
Now two versions behind
Android released next OS. ATT Galaxy S5 now 2 versions behind. Per Tech spt too many bugs. Strange that other carriers do not have issues.
Wrong....
