Make your own flashable zip so you can add any song you like on to your phone.
Instructions:
1. Download the DIY-sounds.zip
2. Open zip but do not extract it
3. Navigate through "system" until you get to the folder that you want to make changes to
4. Drag and drop your song in that folder
> e.g. if you want a new alarm, navigate to "alarms" folder and drop your song in to the alarms folder
5. Delete the README.txt
6. Navigate to the other folders and add your songs there too
> If you don't want to add any other songs, just delete the README.txt files in each of the other folders
7. Nandroid backup
8. Flash in recovery
Note: Don't delete the README.txt files without first putting something in that folder, or the directories will disappear
Stock HTC sounds
These are stock HTC Desire HD sounds in a flashable zip format
Have you just flashed a new AOSP rom and you've realised that all of your favourite ringtones or notifications or alarms sounds are gone now?
I got used to the new sounds, but after briefly flashing back to stock recently I realised how much I missed the old ones!
There are two formats available -
1- Merge the stock sounds to the phone so that you keep all of the AOSP sounds as well (stock-sounds-merged.zip)
2- Remove all of the AOSP sounds and just have the stock HTC sounds on the phone (stock-sounds-only.zip)
Instructions:
1. Nandroid backup!
2. Flash zip in recovery
3. Enjoy
When flashing a new rom just stay in recovery and flash this zip straight after

I think so...I've been doing this with my own script on my Samsung SPH-L720 with CyanogenMod 13 and the only issue I've had is getting the media scanner to notice the new sounds. Give it a go and see if it works. If it doesn't, I might have something that could work instead.
Hi, would anyone please share the secret of how to add custom sound files as ringtones and notification sounds? In CM7 it was easy, place them in sdcard/ringtones or sdcard/notifications and I was able to choose my own sounds from the lists.
With CM10 this doesn't work anymore. I cannot see my own added sound files. I tried
Code:
storage/sdcard0/notifications
storage/sdcard0/media/audio/notifications
storage/sdcard1/notifications
storage/sdcard1/media/audio/notifications
And the same with. /ringtones directories as well. No sound file was detected. So how can I play my own song when someone calls or play my own short sound when I receive a text message?
Just use a file manager to copy the sounds to system/media/audio/notifications or .../rintones. Check the permissions and reboot.
After the reboot, you can pick your custom sounds in the sound options.
Please note: You have to do this again after EVERY cm update (new nightly)!
If your file manager says your internal memory is full, just delete some of the rintones you don't like... Honestly, most of them are annoying crap.

Here are downloads for some of the S5 apps that work on our S4. These are all apps that I use myself including the S5 Touchwiz, Notification panel, mms and more. For the apks in the system... folders please backup your original files and copy and paste the files. Make sure to set the proper permissions and then reboot. I would copy and paste them all from the system folder including app, priv_app and lib then reboot. The other apks install like normal apps. I am not responsible if your brick your phone. Always make a nandroid backup first. For me most of these worked on oxed stock rooted phone and all work on my phone running Sacs 4.4.2 v6. I did not port these apps over and I take no credit for most of them. I am just sharing here so people with the Sprint S4 can have them as well. Good luck and enjoy.

OLD S5 Dialer and Contacts old pop-up window -- Thanks to citymen34, sac23 and myself
Here is the dark themed S5 Dialer and Contacts. Go into system/priv-app and rename the SecContacts and SecPhone Apks to .bak and then boot into recovery. This should be able to flash through recovery. First make a Nandroid backup. Very Important. Then flash. If for some reason it doesn't flash then just copy all of the files from the folders to the correct locations. For the Framework ones copy to the root of the system folder first and set the proper permission rw-r--r-- then copy and replace the current files in the framework folder. Your phone will most likely reboot and that's ok. If for some reason it gets stuck on the boot screen then go into recovery and restore your system folder. Good luck and please let me know if the flash works and if the dialer and contacts are working for you.
My Magazines
S4 framework-res.apk framework.jar and Magazines.apk and Headlines.apk to get My Magazines to work. FIRST MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!!! Very Important. Try and flash this through recovery and let me know if it works. It should work just fine if not do a custom restore from the backup you made of your system folder. If you don't want to flash it or the flash doesn't work copy the files from the zip to the base of the system folder. Then set the proper permissions of rw-r--r--. Now go into system/framework and make a copy of the framework-res.apk and framework.jar. Now copy and paste the two file on the base of the system to the framework folder and press yes to both pop-up windows. Your phone might restart if so let it go through the restart. If not continue to copy and paste the magazines.apk and Headlines.apk files into system/app and set the proper permissions rw-r--r--. Now restart your phone and you should be good to go. On the home screen of the S5 Touchwiz scroll to the left and see if Magazines works now. If it isn't enables press down on a blank area on the screen and select Home Screen Settings. Now press the check box next to My Magazines. You should be good to go from there. Let me know if this works for everyone. Thanks.Click Here to download
S5 Music Player fully working -- Thanks to $ideWinder
Download here You can try to flash this in recovery as I made it a flashable version. My first one so let me know if it works or not. If not then just Copy and Paste all files into the specific directories and set the proper permissions rw-r--r--. Rename the old music player files to .bak, use the zip to see which file and where they are located and then reboot. IMPORTANT!!! Before opening the music app go to settings--App Manager and then clear the data for the Media Server and for the Music Player. Then you will be able to use the music player with no problems. It may take a few minutes for your music to appear just be patient and wait and enjoy.
Guide to using Root Explorer to make the Music Player work is HERE.Please press the Thanks button if I have helped you. Thank you.

It works on my phone but it is deodexed. I haven't tried it on odexed. Hopefully you didn't erase the odex file. If it doesn't work with or without it, then it might just work on deodexed. A good rom to use that is deodexed is Sacs. You will have to google it to find his newer version which is 4.4.2 v4.

So what steps did you take to flash it cause I see in a diff thread some people are still having force close. Also hows the default soundquality with the EQ on Normal/Off? Is it on par or better than the S4 Music Player?
Thanks.
I renamed all the files with .bak for the old music player. Then I copied over the files to the right folders and set the proper permissions and then rebooted my phone. Then I cleared the data for the music player and media service and then opened up the music player and it worked with no problems. Sound seems about the same to me.

I cant find the .bak or secmusicprovider... can you explain the steps/app or how you were able to delete it or rename it
You need to use a file explorer like root explorer. You have to rename the files to add .bak to them. Look for a file explorer that lets you have superuser permissions. Then go to system then privacy-app and find the files. Also go to system/app and find the files there. Open up and unzip the files from the music player zip and it tells you what folders everything goes in. If you have to Google root explorer and you can watch a video on how to use it.

Here is a guide to using root explorer to rename files and where to copy the new files for the S5 Music Player.
Open up root explorer
Files from the zip will be copied into these folders. But first go into the "app" folder and rename the following files.
Here are the files in the app folder you need to rename. The ones in the pic that have .bak on them were the original S4 files that I already renamed. The new files with the music note emblem are the s5 files that I copied over.
To rename press down on the file you want to rename.
Select rename.
Press yes to this popup asking if you want to remount as read-write.
Rename the original S4 apps to have a .bak at the end like in the picture. Then press ok. Now copy in the files from the MusicPlayer zip that go in the app folder and set the proper permissions.
To set permissions press down on the file and instead of pressing rename on the pop-up box press permissions. Change the permissions to rw-r--r-- as shown above.
Now go back and then go into the priv-app folder.
Rename the SecMediaProvider.apk file to have .bak after and also the MusicFX.apk shown below.
Now copy in the two apps from the Music Player zip to the priv-app folder and set the proper permissions.
Look at the Music Player zip and go into each folder and see the names of the files that you need to copy over to the etc, framework, and lib folder. Go to each of those folders and name any current files to .bak that are the same. As we did above for the app and priv-app folder. Now copy and paste the remaining files into the proper folders from the zip. and set the right permissions. Now reboot your phone. Once your phone comes back up do not open the music player. Instead go into Settings as shown below.
Press More on the top right. And then press Application manager.
Scroll to the right until ALL is selected.
Scroll down until you fine Music. Press on Music.
Press on Clear data.
This pop-up will show. Press Ok.
Now press the back button on your phone and scroll up until you find Media Storage. Press on Media Storage and clear the data like you did for the Music player.
Now go to your home screen and go to your apps and open up the music player app. It will take a few minutes for all of your music to show up. For me I rebooted and it came up. Good luck and I hope this guide has helped someone. Press Thanks if it did. Thank you.

First did you do a nandroid backup? Second did you rename your old settings apk? If you did everything then you would have these two things. Next do you have the S5 touchwiz or are you using the S4? If you are rooted; system / media / audio / ringtones. If you are not rooted use another file explorer besides the stock one and use it to navigate to your regular ringtone folder and select it that way.

Hi,
I'm trying to install sound package which has ringtones and notifications. The files are ogg format.
I figured out how to install notifications. I have to use the built-in Samsung My Files to copy them into the Notifications folder. Then it will be picked up by the phone and I can see them in Settings notification list
However, I can't get the ringtones to show up in Settings ringtone list. I can use the plus button to choose, which shows all notifications as well.
What's the trick to install ringtones on S10?
Thanks

I already did it twice, once with My Files. However, they don't show up in Settings -> Sound -> Ringtones. Instead, I'd have to click on + sign at the top and choose folder.
Does it require a folder structure inside Ringtones folder?
Thanks
Unfortunately, it happens to me all the times I've manually placed files into the Ringtones folder, even on internal storage not external SD. What I found worked reboot many times or use media scanner to refresh
