I know this phone is brand new and able to root. But I'm curious to see what apps people are using under root. I'm kinda hesitant to root it for now because I don't wanna apply anything that will give me a soft brick. I'm staying unrooted until we get a cm13 Rom
There is no 1-click app root right now. King/Kingo/Towel/iRoot/etc... non of them working.
The only way if flash the custom recovery then flash the superSU . I prefer NOT to unlock bootloader, cause bootloop/softbrick.
This is better way, but a little complicated. If you understand then go for it. Safer than unlock bootloader.

I was referring to apps/tweaks for customization after you root. What are working, what isn't.
Modded systemui, adblock, root explorer, capacitive buttons remapped, and other tweaks. I don't really use any root specific apps.
Edit: I forgot to mention viper4android. One of the reasons why I root.
I had viper for my old LG, I'll have to give that a try on this. Modded systemui, not having any problems or reboots? I thought I read in a thread someone was having issues with reboots while using it
I currently have Amplify, Greenify, Xposed, and Wakelock detector, Titanium Backup, running on my rooted Vivo XL with no issues. The phone goes in to deep sleep very well now that I have the Xposed / Amplify / Greenify combo set up.

Thank you very much!! I'll set it up this weekend when I have time
how much standby/screen on time are you getting with these? I'm getting about 8hrs without messing with wakelock. The only thing I'm not running is google now.
Before I installed everything I was getting 24 hours of use with 5+ hours of screen on time. I haven't really measured what I can get with all the added rooted apps. Ill see what I can get with the charge I have today and report back.
The only root apps I use are Adaway and Helium, and rarely Root Explorer.

I'm not having any reboot issue with my modded systemui. The Amigo SystemUI plays favorite with certain music players. The only thing I did really was modified it to keep my spotify and a few other music player app notification widget on the lock screen.

Louder Volume Hack: Lite Edition!
Most of you are probably aware of the louder volume hacks and the application, but for those of you who are not, all the application does is give you 3 boosted volume settings for the main speaker, a bluetooth volume and a headset volume boost!
The LVH application is on the market for £2.50 and has many more features (of course, everything can be done completely for free here!)
But yeah, this is basically just an updated version of the old Free edition, nothing special really.
(Also, Dev's: Feel free to include this in ROMs or whatever, as long as credit is given where it's due )

So what works in the Lite Edition?
V1, v2, v3, and STOCK are all selectable. None of the Revision 2 files are available.
Bluetooth Boost works and so does the Headset Boost.
(In-Call mods are not available and neither are any of the 'combined' files)
Instructions:
You NEED Root access.
You NEED a custom ROM
install like any other app
MAKE SURE YOU UNPLUG YOUR PHONE BEFORE YOU RUN THE APP
LINK REMOVED TEMPORARILY WHILE A FIX IS BEING WORKED ON
enjoy
lol nothing special it's great XD perfect for ZX Donut

Thanks for the free version but the same goes with me when I tried to run it. I'm on CM5T5.
I got that error too. Running Superfast 1.3.3. Just press the back button and select whatever version you want. I ended all apps with task manager and after my sound was louder.

Hey david.
I've had many reports of my app encountering problems on CM5. I'm away at the moment but I will be investigating the issues in the next few days.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused.
Thanks!

So at the moment this "free" app is not gonna work correctly.
Sorry guys, i've been investigating the issues regarding the free version and all problems should be fixed shortly!
Hello,
Fantastic app you have!
Any update on this?
tx
Same question...defintely needing an app like this..I just can't make my phone sound any better by normal means!
Only issue I think is with the "free" version. The paid version works fine. For those of you that really needs an app like this.
I don't like having a solid color for a background when I open my app drawer, and don't really care for any of the third party launchers, so I modified the stock launcher to be transparent. This was created using the stock kitkat launcher so make sure you're on kitkat before attempting to flash. You must be rooted or have CWM installed.

CWM Flashable
Reboot to CWM and flash away.
APK that can be flashed with a root file explorer
With a root file explorer copy Launcher2.apk to /system/priv-app, if it ask's about overwriting proceed with that. After it's been copied set the permission's to rw-, r--, r--. Reboot shield.
Just to be on the safe side before flashing/copying I would make a copy of the stock launcher that way if you want to revert you can. I would either copy the stock launcher to the download folder or copy it to the same folder and then add the file extension .bak, I will eventually be creating a version that includes the stock launcher as well. I hope you enjoy and thanks for downloading!

I managed to get it, but it takes like 5 minutes to load the "desktop?" and app drawer... I get stuck on a black screen for 2 minutes, then my wallpaper comes out for 3 minutes and then everything loads, only thing I can use is double tap the home button and drag down the top and mess with settings. Now I must make sure I don't restart my device...

Yes. At first I just kept getting boot loops, then I managed to boot into it and everything started working again, but as I said, long load times the first 5 minutes. I'll probably flash back stock and try all over again.
I have tried the xposed modules I am familiar with but I haven't found a way to get the date in the status bar like Wanam does for Touchwiz. Coming from the Samsung S4, I got used to having it there for quick glance. Any one know of a setting or module I might be missing that could achieve this?
I should also note that the apps in the Play store are cheesy looking. I want something that matches the fonts of the phone and doesn't create an entry in the pull-down notification either.
Use a custom rom such as Mahdi and you can have this feature.

I would simply test it out and if it does not work for you simply delete it. But custom rom is the way to go. Also try SlimKat since OPO asked them personally to create a rom for there phone

I ended up trying it and it works for what I needed. Thank you both. I am still going to look into one of the custom ROMs. I just get tired of keeping up with the updates since there is no OTA (except for PA I believe).
For the functionality, I'm not sure, I just read various things about conflicts between CM and xposed/gravitybox tweaks.

Slim has a OTA and to be honest if it is running right why do you need to update. Updating is not mandatory but so many feel like if they dont have the latest they are going to burst....

If you want to do this yourselves.
1st Download and install xposed framework installer to your phone (root needed)
Get it here
Check framework is the latest in framework
.Then in download section of xposed framework search for resflux and install
Or get it here
Then in modules section of xposed enable resflux and reboot
Open reflux and select laboratory
Then click the app you want nodded
Then simply use the up to select and change texts. Colours back rounds etc.
Then to apply . Press back and reboot
Use only png images for back rounds
IL give a more detailed guide when I get to my pc.
Has anyone tried this yet? I just tried and i changed colors of alot of things in gear manager on phone and rebooged has in still phone this same. When i went back into theming app the colors where still changed to what i changed them to but in gear manager they didnt change.I have it checked in exposed so that isnt the problem.Do you need to clear cache of gear manager or whatever app your trying to theme? It seems like a good app if it works rite.
So i just looked on the developers page and it was confirmed working on a few devices and alot of stock roms.I have galaxy s4 with hyperdrive rom so maybe it doesnt work on my phone.

Practical experience is the best lesson: Why don't you give us a typical example with screenshots how you, for example changed background color. Assume that being the easiest to do and good start...Thanks!

i thought about that, but then id be writing guides up for every app, the best thing to do is just trial and error yourselves
My device is constantly awake on the current build after doing a full clean flash (twice).
Something in the system is holding awake after the screen is off.
So I've tried stock OOS and CM13, and I am still getting the same wakelock so that means it is not ROM dependent, something else changed within my phone that is causing this wakelock.
I first started noticing this wakelock when I tried the offical ResurrectionRemix 7.1 from here, after flashing that ROM, I've had the wakelock on all other roms. Anyone have any ideas about how to solve this?

Id format everything in twrp after saving anything valuable. Then I'd install a ROM without flashing Google apps. I wouldn't even login or sign-in or install a single app after booting up. Then see if the issue is still present. If it is gone then you know it's either your apps or Google but not the ROM or phone.

So here is what I've tried so far:
I installed stock OOS Recovery over TWRP. Through the stock recovery I sideloaded the official OOS 4.0 Nougat release and wiped the phone clean through recovery selecting the option (Erase everything (pics, vids, etc.)). I then rebooted the phone and completed set-up by skipping everything and no google sign in. I am still getting the constant wake issue.
I also noticed the following kernel wakelocks that show 99% and 69% usage respectively:
1. fusb301_otg_wl
2. 6a00000.ssusb
I found these threads around the wakelocks above.

^ This one suggests clearing cache on Play Services, I tried this and still not working.

Just wanted to update in case anyone else has this problem. I have fixed the issue.
I flashed 3.5.4 OOS and then proceeded to install CM13. I am no longer experiencing constant wake on CM or OOS.
