Micro SD Questions - T-Mobile LG G4

I have recently upgraded to MM on my H811. I found out that LG has disabled the feature to mount SD cards as internal storage. OK that sucks but I have lots of space for my other media. I am having nothing but problems. Titanium Backup seems to fail when I set the backup folder to the SD. Quickpic, which I have used for ages keeps giving me this message when I try to delete or modify camera images that are on the SD card. For the record, Quickpic permissions are set to for it to access storage.
Pat

I was making twrp backups to ext SD card. But it won't restore the same twrp backup from ext SD. Wtf?

For now, I went back to 5.1. Too many other problems all solved now that I am back on 5.1 Maybe when we get a few updates in I will try again.

[Q] Switching microsd cards in Nexus One

Hi
I just bought a 32GB microsd card and would like to replace my nexus one’s default one with it. Now, most folks say that one can just copy the current card’s contents to PC, swap the card, connect the phone to PC and copy the contents back. However, I have a couple of doubts:
1. What about apps that I have installed on the card (Using froyo’s native ability, not apps2sd)? I would prefer not having to uninstall/reinstall them.
2. When I got the phone, it already had lot of folders etc on the card. Not sure if any of them are protected ones..
BTW, I am using the stock 2.2.1 ROM, so no option of titanium/nandroid backup for me..
Copy ALL files & folders, including hidden ones, to your new SD card, insert it, check. It'll work.
If it won't - you'll always have your old card.
Why not try it before posting? I don't recall myself posting anything when I tried to do the same a couple of weeks ago, and I had more complicated process - had to boot Linux to copy the EXT partition for Apps2SD+. Copied both FAT32 and EXT3. Both work.
Moreover, if you have Google backup - you need not worry about the apps, they'll be reinstalled automatically in case anything happens.
So, I did this a few days ago but forgot to post here. I copied everything to the second card including the hidden files and also saw that all the apps etc were copied but none of the apps that were installed on sd card worked after the switch. They even stopped showing up in my market downloads section. On tapping the icons on the home screen, I got an error message that the app is not installed. Finally I uninstalled them from the applications settings screen and then reinstalled them.
I think that most folders on SD card except .android_secure are not absolutely necessary, all Froyo app2sd applications go to .android_secure folder. All other folders generally contain extra data needed by apps.
If moving entire SD card content from old one to new one does not quite work, try downloading Titanium backup (free ware) from Android Market, backup all SD applications, then install new SD card, use Titanium backup to restore all backed up applications.

[Q] SD card works but can not be opened by some apps. How can i fix it

I apologize if this has been thoroughly discussed here, but I can't seem to find much in my own searches.
I don't know what happened but yesterday after i restarted my N1, most of my apps on SD Card couldn't seemed anymore! Apps are on the list, on the desktop and on the apps settings (without original icon). But my system doesn't connect apps on my sd card.
My sd card is working correctly, no problem is there. System is seeing sd card, can be mounted/unmounted.
I've tried to restart (ofcourse),
I've tried to launch different launcher,
I've tried to flash CM again.
But nothing works
How can i fix it without wiping? I would wipe but the backup app (mybackup pro) gives an error "Unable to open database file". So i don' wanna wipe without backing up.
Interestingly, some apps on SD works, but it says it can not see SD card. For example, Go SMS app can backup sms to sd card. But it can not see sd card.
Please help me...
Note: I'm using CM 7.0.2.1 (default kernel 2.6.37.4)
I had a similar problem recently...what fixed it for me running CHKDSK. Try mounting your sd card, right click on its properties, then go to tools and then error-checking. I checked off both options and ran it. That seems to have fixed my issue, I guess a file was corrupt. Good luck
edit-This is using windows
SD Card was corrupted.
Hi again,
I understand that my SD card was corrupted. I ran chkdsk and it couldn't be completed. It gave an error. I formatted with SDFormatter. No bad sectors or damaged. Finally i had to reinstall all apps again. Not wiped rom.

[Q] CWM Backup/Recovery doesn't restore Link2SD linked apps

I have a D415 that I managed to get rooted and get CWM installed. On my D415 (as well as my last phone a P569) I had the same nagging issue. In order to increase available space I installed Link2SD and formatted my SD card with a fat32 and ext partition (ext2,ext3,ext4 tried them all). Everything seems to work fine with one nagging issue. I always get a message about "no /sdcard/.android_secure found" whenever I created a nandroid backup. Restoring the backups always seemed to work fine except when I would replace the SD card with a new one. I partitioned/formatted a new card with a fat32 and a 2gb ext partition. Then copy a nandroid backup that I made before the change from my PC to the "external_SD" card, then boot into CWM recovery and install the backup. I would get the typical messages about skipping sd-ext and android_secure. Then boot normally and discover all the apps that I linked to the SD card with Link2SD would not be there and I would have to reinstall them with Titanium backup and relink them with Link2SD. I've been looking through various forums but I can't seem to find anything describing how to make a backup of the files that I linked to the SD card with Link2SD. I've been to the Link2SD site and read through the FAQ but this isn't addressed. If there is a way to do this and can someone point me to it. Thanks in advance.

[Q] Make the SD the "default" memory

Hi, I have a Moto G 2014 with Stock 5.0.2 rooted, and I bought a 32GB SD Card a few days ago. The thing is that everything is still going to the internal memory, instead of the SD (photos, downloads, etc.), so I want to know if it's a way to make everything write on the SD card without messing up the phone (I heard I can mount SD in /sdcard changing init.rc but I don't want to do that). I also want to move my WhatsApp chats to the SD too, hehehehe (WhatsApp data is in the internal :'c)
Thanks in advance.
Hi,
For the photos and videos part, you can select from the camera application if you want to store them in the internal memory or on the SD card. For applications I think they are installed in the internal memory by default but you can move them after installation on the SD card by going to settings -> apps -> touch app -> move to SD card. To change the default installation location you need the android SDK installed on your PC and adb and then to edit a file. But I do not recommend this since the SD card is not accessible while the phone is connected to the PC. This will make applications that always run to work improperly(widgets, Facebook, etc. might generate a lot of errors because of it).
I think it's a Xposed module for that.

if you're rooted then try link2sd from play store. you need to have an ext partition on your sd card for this to work.
if you are not rooted then you will have to manually create symlinks to the files on the sd card.

Better try Link2SD. The procedure to turn your external SD to internal storage causes a lot of trouble in most cases.
There are also scripts that link the possible apps and libraries automatically to the SD card when installing them.

TWRP nandroid missing, internal storage displaying wrong numbers

Hey all,
So I unlocked my bootloader, got TWRP installed, updated to v6.6 the safe way, and converted to non-Prime from Prime. Before converting, I made a nandroid backup. Once the phone was all set up with the sim and SD Card in, I used MixPlorer to move the entire TWRP folder from the internal storage to the SD Card. It did it almost instantly, which was the first weird thing. Now I have 2 TWRP folders on my device, one on the internal storage and one on the external. Both only have .twrps in them. Also, my internal storage is reporting that I only have about 4 GB of storage remaining. I've only installed about 1 GB of apps, plus the system storage is still reporting about 4GB being taken up. So I believe I should have a lot more free storage. What I'm thinking happened is the nandroid didn't move, but is not being shown anywhere. I've tried enabling hidden items, but that only shows the .twrps.
Does anyone know where I can find my nandroid backup?
