Screen Assurance Program,rooted,flashed CM 12 & TWRP,unlocked bootloader,FREAKING OUT
Okay, I screwed up.
I unlocked the bootloader with Sunshine, flashed Cyanogenmod 12 and TWRP Recovery, and then proceeded to spike my phone into the ground. I thought it would be a great idea to take advantage of the Droid Turbo Screen Assurance Program, and went to the Verizon Store and ordered my replacement, free of charge. However, I now realize that was a stupid idea, because when my replacement arrives, I'll have to send my original handset back, which has an unlocked bootloader, root access, and a custom ROM. That will make my handset ineligible for the Assurance Program, and Verizon will charge my account the full retail price of a new Droid Turbo.
People have said that I cannot relock the bootloader without bricking the phone, but according to the Sunshine developers' Q&A on their site, it says I can do it once. I'm willing to take that chance.
Can anyone give me step by step how to go from CM12 with root and an unlocked bootloader back to complete stock 5.1 without root and a locked BL? Do I use ADB, TWRP, RSDLite? I'm really a noob and have no idea.
I already tried flashing one of the stock zips using TWRP, but that didn't work, it just gave me an error.
If I can't figure this out, I can send the rooted handset back, pay the money, and use my new Droid, or I figure I can send the replacement right back and be right back where I started.
Can anyone help a brother out?
brick the phone then, if version asks the phone stopped working when you dropped it
This guy was trying to get back to stock unrooted.

Maybe after that process you can re lock the boot loader? Just a thought
This video seems like it could be of some help.
You're replacement will probably have the newest firmware from Verizon so might not be rootable.

That's not what they are worried about.
On the actual topic, after restoring the firmware you should be able to simple run fastboot and oem lock the device.
Let me get this straight. You voided the warranty. Then decided to dishonestly break the device for insurance. And you're scared you won't get your insurance.

I was trying to understand this as well. The 'spiking' was intentional? So he's attempting to defraud the insurance company?
No I just said that for the sake of being funny, I did accidently drop my phone and crack the screen. Sorry for the confusion.
Your device is not covered under the Assurance program due to unlocked bootloader. They will automatically bill you for a new device upon receiving your damaged one. XDA is not a place to help circumvent warranty and discuss committing fraud. There is no way to relock and put your device back to an unaltered, like new state. This thread will be locked according to rules and guidelines.

NO NO I didn't intentionally break my phone. I said I "threw it on the ground" as a funny way of saying I dropped it. I didn't realize that would cause so much confusion, as I didn't think that was something people actually did...
Also I have already relocked the bootloader using ADB. I don't know why people are saying you can't...
Sorry for the confusion.
@beaups what is the story on this? I know there have been at least two who have soft bricked their phone after a bootloader relock. Is it custom nonstock based ROMs or something?

If you manage to relock a motorola device, you have to follow a specific process. Not sure what issues people are having. But its pointless anyhow, relocked devices show a different lock status code. You can't truly set a motorola device back to the original locked status.
Also, SunShine won't be able to unlock a device that's been relocked.

I meant to point that out; in the bootloader, the device will show that the status is Modified, even if you manage to relock it.

Lol. Yeah people have been known to do that on purpose... And sometimes humor is not this sites forte. Seriously though, good luck. Don't know what your odds are of succeeding, but I hope you do. Somehow I think Verizon will survive.

I never accused you of intentionally breaking your phone, I'm not sure where that thought came from. Your best bet is to replace the screen at a place of your choosing versus paying $500+. Like I said before, you have to fall under the restrictions/requirements for the assurance program. There's a reason for this.
For instance, say you manage to relock your bootloader and messed with the system files before returning. You got lucky, and I mean VERY lucky, and they missed your alterations.
New person receives your device, receives an update, bricks phone because of modification. They try to return but is forced to pay for a new phone because someone ELSE voided the warranty.
Is it right? No. If you have to question yourself about this certain situation, then that's a problem.
As a side note: you may relock your bootloader but will ALWAYS say bootloader has been unlocked while turning on, something that they WILL DO upon receiving your device.
I'm just trying to save you the time and money.

Completed Bounty
Pre-release Root Request
Well it's now the ending of August and the September 8th date is inching closer and closer. The demand for this phone has now reached new levels and it is very certain now that this device will be purchased by many (even more so now with the lack of the SGSII on Verizon). Seeing as how many of us here at XDA will be new to this device, it will be very critical for most of us to get root access as soon as possible post-release. As a result of this necessity, I would like to personally offer a $25 bounty to the first person able to find or create a method that fully root and provide the necessary steps for rooting the Droid Bionic here on XDA. I know it may not be much but seeing as how the Droid 3 was rooted for free impressively quick, I am hoping this small bounty will be able to motivate a few developers attempt and do likewise on the Bionic or at least enough to catch the attention of a root request. Whoever you are, you will be doing myself and many other upcoming owners of this device a great justice and for that consider this as a token of my appreciation. I also greatly encourage and welcome anyone else willing to chip in to this bounty to post here and I will have the OP updated of all users' donations to this request.
Greatly looking forward to anyone interested in becoming a candidate.

There is a method out that roots the D3 that said it can also root any moto device on Gingerbread? I read it @ droidlife. So hopefully they won't patch it and the bionic would be rooted out of the box.
Oneclick root should root bionic out of the box
Sent from my DROIDX using XDA App
Yep we should have root day 1. I don't think it will be patched before we get our hands on it. Surely they already have thousands and thousands of bionics already produced sitting in a warehouse. They are not gonna go back and update them. If they do decide to patch it, then it will likely come via an OTA.
Somehow I wouldn't put it past Verizon (and Moto) to have an update ready to go even before the Bionic is out for sale that blocks the method being used to root it.
root related question......if it gets root out of the box will we start seeing ROMS soon or does it require an unlocked bootloader which may never be seen? im tryin to decide between this phone and the inc2. development is a huge factor im my decision

Someone please correct me if I'm wrong but I'm pretty certain a locked/encrypted bootloader would just mean that roms would have to be based off the moto kernels (no custom kernels). So to answer your question, roms yes, kernels no.
I'll put up $100 for the first person to hack the bootloader (assuming Motoogle doesn't unlock it first). I'm so excited about the hardware, but having fallen in love with MIUI (sorry CM), I don't want anything else on it.

I have just used the method listed at www.psouza4.com/droid3 to root my Droid Bionic. I will upload a screenshot of Superuser and an app requesting SU permissions shortly. This is absolutely wonderful news!
If anything, give your bounty to the originator of the exploit. I don't mean the first person who posted how to root the Droid 3 with instructions, I mean the actual coder who found the hole. If you are absolutely dying to see it, I might be willing to try the root method, but I am not taking any risks with mine, even with a full writeup. It will come really soon, the phone launches in 4 days. Patience young grasshoppers.

Okay , let's motivate some Developers to join Vivid Development.
I used to do much more with lower level firmware on POX & WM. I would like to do so again, but Android is brand new to me. That said, I learn fast & am willing to beta risky firmware as the basic concepts are similar and I learned a lot from Jockey, BuzzLightYear, Oli, Cmonex, etc.
We just need a few more good teachers.
After this past week I have decided to pass up the SkyRocket & stick with the Vivid. As such, I would like to entice some of the great devs that haven't gotten their Vivid yet to do so.
I am personally willing to make a small (for now) commitment to whomever achieves and posts a working tool our guide allowing users to do the following:
1. Unlock Bootloader - HBoot
2. Achieve a PERMANENT S-Off status
3. True Permanent root
& as a bonus the engineering HBoot would bee great.
I myself am going to be trying to catch up & contribute.
Anyone willing to add to the bounty, please post the amount you are willing and any other low level firmware unlocks or access you would like to also be a part of the bounty.
I also think that if a Dev gets one or two of the three items listed, the bounty be split accordingly, but I'm open to suggestions.

What is the timeframe on allowing the HTC VIVID to be bootloader unlocked. I am fully aware of the consequences, but since this is a device that I bought, I expect to have control of it. As of right now, AT&T gets to dictate what I have installed, and whether or not I have root access. This is ridiculous and unacceptable.

I understand that you're looking to unlock your phone's bootloader, and would like to know when this can happen. Unfortunately, our technical support department does not have any advanced information about when any phone will be unlockable through our developer website. I would recommend checking the Bootloader section of our developer website (http://htcdev.com/bootloader/), as we update this page as soon as unlock software for any phone becomes available. my response (awaiting an answer)
I feel like I am being lied to. The exact same device on every other carrier is unlockable, yet the AT&T version is not. Why is that? Is AT&T the one causing the hold up? Do I need to start raising this issue there too? I don't appreciate the Vivid being locked down like this when the Raider is not. Completely unacceptable. I used to praise HTC products after owning so many, but tactics like this are really making me question my choice in manufacturer preference. I might have to return the Vivid and stick with the Galaxy S II at this point. I am wondering, between you and Motorola, who is feeding us more lies?

By the way I got the same exact response so I think that is an automated response.
I am also tending to believe AT&T is the reason we are so locked down due to the fact that HTCDev has this statement on their website now that I don't recall seeing when I first got this phone.
"HTC is committed to assisting customers in unlocking bootloaders for HTC devices. However, certain models may not be unlockable due to operator restrictions. We continue to work with our partners on this, check back often for ongoing updates about unlockable devices."
The Operator Restrictions sounds like BAD news for us to get an Unlock from them.
I wish I knew about all this coding stuff so I could help. But unfortunately I dont. So like I said in my first post I'll do my part by giving my part in the bounty.
I read an earlier post about sim unlock. The guy got a response from att saying there will be no sim unlock because the phone is exclusive to att. I call bs on that. The same device is on other carries just a different name. Excuses are like a$$h0le$. Everybody's got one and they all stink.

Just like my other threads, this one is about the Google Nexus 4 and Root-A-Lot. From what some people have told me this thing has been a hit or miss, but it's rooted and s-off'd a lot of users devices, phone and tablet.
I am not the creator of this one click, but I was told it could be shared freely, as it also describes in the .ZIP contents.
I did not personally try this out myself (My One X is already rooted + S-OFF) so be sure to check it out and read all the documents before trying out this new root exploit.

It did finally pick up my One X after about 10 mins (more like 2), but like I said I'm already rooted. It looks like it supplies a good amount of phones, and with the 3 different methods for rooting, especially the third, hopefully we will see some good results!
I'm not responsible for harm that comes from this file, I have ran and tested it out to SOME EXTENT. Please be aware of this, and like I said, READ THE DOCUMENTATION.
It states it can:
Root Android 2.x
Root Android 3.x
Root Android 4.x
Rooting Phones and Tablets
Supplies S-OFF as well (80% Chance)
So, like I said, try it out and let me know if it works!
link removed ..
Why? S-off is technically for HTC only.. Yes?.. Why would we need to unlock our NAND, assuming this can, when there aren't any limitations. Also I'm not sure if the NAND is truly locked like on HTC, as this is my first non HTC phone. And as for Root it isn't that necessary is it? It I thought there was a way to root already through flashing recovery and not unlocking boot loader. Unless secure boot removes the root without unlocked bootloader.
I Downloaded it just to see what it was, and avg yelled at me. Not saying its a virus, but I also have no need for it.

One out of 34 Virus Scanners identified it as a "injector" variant to me. I'll leave it for the users to decide, if a Mod wants it gone so be it, I don't see the harm though, I ran it myself and noticed no difference in anything.
A lot of these type of apps are flagged by Anti-Virus, there's nothing new there
What I can't understand is why you've come in a Nexus/LG device forum with a "one click root" and S-OFF solution? S-OFF has absolutely nothing to do with the Nexus 4.
The manufacturer of this phone has provided an app called "Fastboot" which allows you to unlock the bootloader and to flash the recovery partition. It's a feature. Source.Android.com walks you through, step-by-step the incredibly simple, secure process of how to do it.
The Nexus phones released us from downloading suspicious EXE's that do God-knows-what from people off of forums, yet here we still are. It's really unbelievable.
I'd be interested in more information about this "root-a-lot" exploit. I've never heard of it, and a quick search on Google doesn't pull anything up.
As for the other two (ZergRush and PSNeuter), those holes were patched a long time ago, and they haven't worked on Android since version 4.0.1.
Somebody, sniff the traffic going through the application for suspicious trojan-like connections. Nexus devices are exclusively made for developers, with everything provided to securely unlock and do whatever you want with the device.
Do not even try to install this app without understanding the risks. Topic must be removed, author - banned.

That's a point, when i realised something here is wrong
I searched root a lot, and this dude posted it in every forum essentially. It does not work, its a fake program. It was made in VB.net or C#, it claims to s-off phones like the HTC one, he didn't make it, there is no source to track it back to an author, it claims to s-off the HTC One X, when the only method is the one made by beaups and jcase. The list goes on.
Bottom line - it is a fake program and possibly a virus. Thread needs to be closed, as it has in almost every other XDA forum.
If you ran this program, I suggest scanning with anti-virus/malware scanners,
http://www.malwarebytes.org/
http://www.safer-networking.org/
http://www.superantispyware.com/
it may not be a virus, but it is a fake program, and virustotal picked up 2 possible threats. They may be false positives. But you should NEVER take a chance unless you know for 100000% it is in fact a false positive

Yeah I posted it for popular phones it SHOULD work with. If you're going to hate on me for simply SHARING something I thought would do good, and apparently does NO BAD then I do apologize and I'll remove it. 2/34 Virus scanners pick it up as what looks like to me, personally, to be false positives. If I was going to try to infect people with someone, I wouldn't use my main account, I've donated more then "fake programs" while I've been here, including a lot of damn time on sometimes what ends up to be nothing.
So if you want to warn people about to program, please do, but don't involve me like I'm doing something intentionally to harm people. I ran it myself, I tried it, my phone was already rooted. It just hung on me for awhile. I could of posted it in every forum, but I didn't.

Exactly. The dual core one x just recently got s-off, but about 8 were bricked for the effort. I dissected the zip and the files/method to s-off the dual core one x don't exist. Also, the dual core one x could only be rooted through 2 very particular exploits. One was checking for an OTA and the other was through restoring a backup app of the dialer i believe and doing some other things

I'm starting a bounty for the unlocking and root of the ZTE Axon Pro, so those who are willing to pledge a donation for the developers time please post here your pledge. Hopefully this will be the start to something great for our device and reaching its full potential please post it in this thread. Please everyone spread the word we need some good helpful Devs to crack this thing, at least give us root privileges in the meantime.
I Pledge $25 for unlocked bootloader on the ZTE Axon Pro.
We would be happy with having root on our device for now so if any developer here could make that possible your time and effort is very much appreciated. Thanks to anyone in advance!!! This would be appreciated so much if anyone could help us with getting the ZTE Axon Pro Phone moving in the right direction finally.
Hopefully more people will get involved in this bounty, we have a nice phone with great potential, but with an unlocked bootloader and root this can be a really special phone. Hopefully more people will get involved because even us just getting root privileges would be a huge step in the right direction!!! This phone is to nice to be stuck in neutral for as long as its been, it has a lot of potential. If we had Root and the right Kernel, an unlocked Bootloader and Roms this would be one awesome phone with all flagship specs. Even though the Stock Rom on our device is not really that bad, in most aspects it just needs some tuned and overhauled with the right tweaks getting it running at its full potential, the good developers here on XDA could do that and make this a a really special device. Custom Roms would be amazing!!!
I really don't see how this phone has not gotten any attention, It has better specs than most phone released including the NEXUS 6P, when I bought it from my friend I thought I would come here and see that the developers here on XDA would have already have custom recoveries, and roms. The phone is designed really nice, a full aluminum body phone, a great 2.5D display at 5.5 inches - 1440 x 2560, Snapdragon 810 - Adreno 430, and 4 GB of Ram, that's nice!!! I thought I got a steal for $200. I just hope we can get some developers who will get involved and hopefully save this phone!!!
Thanks for any help!!!
HERE ARE LINKS TO ZTE WEBSITES I'M ASKING FOR EVERYONE TO ADD ANY LINKS THAT YOU KNOW OF SO WE CAN LET OUR VOICES BE HEARD IF YOU HAVE MORE LINKS ADD THEM AND I WILL PUT THEM HERE FOR EVERYONE TO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD SO ITS UP TO US TO TRY TO GET ZTE TO HOPEFULLY REASON WITH US AND NOT BE A CLOSED SOURCE MANUFACTURER. SO WE MUST MAKE OUR VOICE HEARD IF WE EXPECT ANYTHING TO HAPPEN, DOING NOTHING IS THE SAME AS ACCEPTING WHAT ZTE IS DOING, AND LOOK HOW THAT HAS TURNED OUT WITH EVERY UPDATE THIS DEVICE HAS RECEIVED THIS FAR. I BELIEVE THIS DEVICE COULD BE A LOT BETTER IF ZTE WOULD AT LEAST MEET THE DEVELOPER COMMUNITY HALF WAY AND GIVE US OPTIONS.
LINKS
https://www.facebook.com/AxonPhone/
https://www.zteusa.com/contacts/index/
https://twitter.com/ZTE_USA
LET YOUR VOICE BE HEARD THAT IS THE ONLY THING THAT WILL GET ZTE'S ATTENTION WE NEED TO LET THEM KNOW HOW UNSATISFIED WE ARE ABOUT THE DEVICE THEY SOLD US ONLY TO BE LET DOWN BY CRAP UPDATES, LOCKED BOOTLOADERS THEY CANNOT DO WHAT THIS COMMUNITY COULD DO IF WE GET THAT DOOR OPEN. WE AS A WHOLE NEED TO CHANGE ZTE'S PERSPECTIVE AND ATTITUDE TOWARD THE DEVELOPER COMMUNITY AND TRUE OPEN SOURCE. WE NEED AN UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER LET THEM KNOW HOW YOU FEEL ABOUT BUYING A PHONE THAT THEY CANNOT EVEN FIX WITH THEIR R&D TEAM. IF ZTE WOULD EMBRACE US THE USERS AND THE COMMUNITY WE COULD DO GREAT THINGS, THE DEVELOPERS HERE WOULD MAKE THIS PHONE A GREAT DEVICE ZTE HAS TO LET US HAVE A CHANCE WITH THIS PHONE AND THE ANDROID COMMUNITY ARE THE ONLY ONES WHO COULD POSSIBLY MAKE THIS HAPPEN FROM WHAT I SEE, ZTE IS SO CLOSED OFF AND THEY WILL NEVER SUCCEED SELLING FLAGSHIP DEVICES THAT ARE CLOSED DOWN.
I'll pledge $25 also.

Thank you!!! We need all the help we can get because ZTE is not going to help us!!! If anyone else is looking for this phone Amazon has them Open Box - Like New Condition for around $230, in all 3 colors.
25 Views and 1 Reply? We need help from all that can to get this phone going in the right direction because right now its all downhill, unless something changes for us... I hope we don't lose this opportunity with such a good device, this could be a beast of a phone if given the chance.
I would definitely throw into the pot to get this device rooted. I have been trying since day 1 without any luck. I have reached out to ZTE, Kingroot, and a few others without any luck. At the moment I have $20 on it, but depending on the circumstances I could possibly increase the amount. Please anybody with this device, that is interested in getting it rooted at least throw a comment up, to show support.
Yes this device is a real sleeper...... people don't realized that this device has the same specs as the:
Nexus 6P
HTC M9
Oneplus 2
G4
Note Edge
I truely think that this phone will take off when the price drops.... and I think it will drop after the end of this month.
Yes this phone is pretty good and would be amazing with atleast root I can't pledge any money right now tho but I really hope it gets unlocked and root soon
I gave up on this phone months ago and I had the Lux model. As stated before the potential is off the charts but potential is useless if somebody doesn't take advantage of it.
I emailed ZTE and pretty much told them if they plan to fail in the US market they are heading in the correct direction to fail - with how they are locking down their devices and being closed source. I gave them many examples of how other manufactures such as Nexus, OnePlus, Oppo, HTC, and so on have had very good product demand for each of their devices because of what they freely do with their phones. They give the community what it wants and this sells. Anyways I don't know if they spun me some **** or not but anyways they said they had forwarded my email to their higher ups???
I plan to get on ZTE every chance I get, it was the same situation when I bought my Oppo Find 5 until the community as a whole including front page of XDA finally got through to Oppo. It was either Oppo needed to change or they would not survive in the US market being as closed down as they were. I don't think Oppo regret doing what they have done, they seem to be doing pretty well for themselves here is the US after they finally agreed to give the community what we wanted. I know that Oppo have sold more phones because they did the 180 and gave the community what we wanted, open source and unlocked bootloaders.
Hopefully we can get ZTE to do the same thing. For some reason the China phone manufacturers don't want to follow open source freedoms that apply when creating an Android device's in the US. We need as much help as we can get and if not, we need to give ZTE the negative response they have created for themselves. I know that personally I will never buy another ZTE device if this phones does not get unlocked and ZTE does not start playing by the fairness of Open Source Community we strive on here at XDA, I would like to just have a damn rooted phone, but it would be great to see what the developers could come up with creating a kernel for this beast and an unlocked bootloader to install TWRP or CWM. We bought the phone it should be our choice if we want to forfeit our warranty or whatever, at least give us the option o make our own decision that's all I want.
Hopefully we will get someone skilled enough to crack this phone, I'm sure there are people here that have worked with ZTE devices before and that can do it . I have seen almost the impossible around here there's a lot of great talent, we just need them to give this a device look. Maybe we can all pitch in and buy a really good recognized developer a ZTE Axon Pro device for themselves, that is usually what works the best in my experience because then the have the phone in their hands and can work on it freely. They are selling on Amazon right now for $230 I will throw in the $25 if we can get a developer to agree. Does that sound like a good idea to anyone else? Ive been thinking about this and it would be hard to crack this phone without having the same model phone themselves. This is how it usually gets done, we need a good developer who we can get this device to, then we may get an unlocked bootloader and kernels.
ZTE AXON PRO - $220 Used - Very Good - Item is in original, pristine packaging. Small (less than 1/4" x 1/4") cosmetic imperfection on front of item.
LINK - http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-list...7&sr=8-3&keywords=zte+axon+pro&condition=used
Right now we have $50 from just 2 of us so say maybe 8 or 10 more people we may have enough and a we need a helpful experienced developer and we can do this possibly, its not like were throwing hundreds of dollars out.
Yea it sucks, I also spent hours of back and forth with ZTE to finally get a answer regarding the availability of Firmware and Bootloader access. I have saved all the emails and messages they wrote me. The final one being that they would not even consider giving Bootloader access and would not release firmware. It took them about 3 weeks to finally get this info and only after pleaing that I would be looking to sell this phone if there was no possibility of ever getting full access. I even tried "troubleshooting" my phone in hopes they would send me some Firmware to flash and "fix" my so called "problem".

So far the most encouraging news I received was from KingRoot. They are still telling me that they plan to keep working to find a method to root. KingRoot also said that if I could get more people to inquire about this model then it would speed up their drive to get it done. The last message I got from them said that their next release should be able to root the Axon A1P
I have also requested through KingRoot to add the ZTE Axon Pro - A1P to their list, hopefully they get us Axon Pro users root soon I'm really bored with nothing to customize and this is my first device ever that I could not root or install custom roms on...
I think I'm going to go give ZTE hell on every outlet they have. Twitter, Facebook, Social Media everywhere that I can...
Anyways hopefully we will at least get our devices rooted soon!!! I was thinking of getting some attention on the XDA Development section on the forums for our Axon Pro from anyone who is experienced with ZTE devices or anyone who can help us with our problems. hopefully by getting all the help we can by linking developers to this thread we will get more attention. We need a good developer or developers and I know there has been many who have cracked ZTE devices in the past I'm pretty sure the newest ZTE/Nubia Z9, Snapdragon 810 version. is unlocked or at least rooted, I'm not sure how much in difference between the devices but they are both built in ZTE's build house so hopefully someone that has working with cracking ZTE/Nubia devices before can help us.
After the marshmallow update, there's an option under the hidden developer options menu to unlock the bootloader natively. Go to settings, about phone, then tap "build number" a few times to activate developer options. You will see a notification once it's activated. Here's a screenshot, now where do I go for this bounty?

Ah I see. How disappointing!
Hi every one!! I'm the new one and sorry for my poor English. ^^. I'm using Zte Axon, I'm very satisfied with it but my phone have a problem that sometimes, even frequently it restart white I do nothing. Hope someone help me! please.
I have tried factory data reset, but nothing better.
isn't that a developer option in marshmallow?
I have this same option within my settings and I have not updated my Axon Pro since I have bought it. I'm still on the older lollipop 5.1.1 build B19 and that option is in my build also. I have not updated hoping that one day we will find a possible exploit. Also all I have heard is bad things after the upgrades from the forum members. Hopefully someday we will have an exploit or root but the option to unlock the bootloader has been in the options since 5.1.1 build B19. I wish we could figure out an exploit. I have been reading up on how to root manually but I'm not a developer so hopefully we can get KingRoot or a gifted developer on board and help us with this issue.

Hey all,
Why is there not much custom ROM activity for the s21? Used to have an s10+ and that had half dozen or more choices.
I would attempt myself if I had time but just curious.
Cheers
There is a few for exynos model
From my observations it is related to device price. More it costs, less users want to play with it.
Personally for me this is my first not rooted device in my life. Just because of one UI. It has just right amount of customization to keep me satisfied.
Also Samsung provides pretty ok software support.
To conclude - there are no good reasons to spend time on development. Only thing that comes to my mind - if you want less bloat, tracking, etc. But in such case imho Samsung is a bad choice and you should go with something else.

Also, if I'm not mistaken, there are various ways to get rid of some of the bloat anyway if you're too inclined to get rid of them.
Yeah I'd say mostly it's due to how highly customisable the Android OS and One UI is these days. I unlocked my bootloader and rooted my S21 Ultra but I ended up locking the bootloader and going back to stock again.
Major issues
- knox - you can't revert to lock state so no matter what happe your pricey toy is useless and not repearable

i re-locked my bootloader, thats all that matters and these days samsung have still repaired phones that have been rooted and had their bootloaders locked again.
Thanks everyone for your feedback.
I admit its a pricey phone which is why I've been put off doing it, I've nearly always installed custom roms mainly for root access and customisation options.
I manage stock unrooted to block ads using AdGuard which does a really good job, and use nova launcher for customisation which sort of keeps me happy, along with working Google pay and bank app and the s21 ultra is pretty customisable.
Root used to be good to backup using titanium.

This is something that I can agree in 100%, in UK samsung does not fix their phones, they have few comapnies who does that for them, and those companies check knox status, why? Becuase they will not get money back from Samsungfor fixing a phone that was nod under warranty - simple.
If someone mad a mistake, forgot etc to check it I get it but spreading false info is not good for anyone.

Well at the risk of exposing your lack of proficiency with the English language, I will add that being covered under warranty is totally different to having the device repaired by Samsung. The word warranty was never used by myself, and in fact was never used by you either.
