I juste found the open source for android 5 kernel right now
I think it's gonna be a first step for cooking custom roms
here's the link : http://consumer.huawei.com/en/support/mobile-phones/p8lite-en.htm
Just click update button and you will get a window to download the P8 Lite Open Source(ALE, Android 5.0,kernel )
So, there is chance for Cyanogenmod
This fabulous links was on emui.com since the p8 lite was here.
And yes it's the source of the kernel for android 5.0.
For now I know only one unofficial cyanogen project but not for a near future and a other's spanish was abandoned
I hope we see some custom roms soon
I'm working on something.
Just gimme some time

currently the best developers ( flar2, arter, eng.stk, Taker and others) are working on op3 development.
OnePlus is developers friendly device. If you take dev scene for OnePlus one and current activity for op3 in xda rest assured that there will be not only Android N but there also be Android O and if we are lucky op3 will see Q (if there is Android O/Q)
Why i think we will see even Android Q because OnePlus one released with kitkat.but now its already running marshmallow & I'm sure it will get Android N too
Developers will start working on N when Google will release full sources for public.
==
Never ask about ETA,Dev will release when it is complete..
N is out!
N is out now - I'm not an XDA regular - where's the best place to subscribe to for a notification of n Based roms?

Everybody here is saying that wating for a custom rom for p8lite2017 is a waste of time because huawei doesn't release the sources, then why does honor 8 have so many custom roms for it ? It has EMUI 5 just like us, it's made by the same company in the same year, how did the devs manage to make roms for it ??
Honor 8 source code is released, for P8 Lite 2017 isn't.

Ah.. i didn't know that, i thought HUAWEI didn't release sources at all, thank you for the information
Some developers (also I) take the data of the devices which they own. They do not need the official resources. Therefore, there is not custom rom also from devices his resources were published. I build my custom rom when android 8 is released.

I'd be glad if we can get even just a custom kernel..But if we do get a custom rom, then all the more better!
AOSP based rom <3 <3 <3
what about K rom in honor 6x dose it compatible with our device ?
K-rom

I already work some time on a EMUI 5 custom rom. Alike for Honor 6x. Only of the Kernel is not enough. We also need 100% Recovery. There is not that.

True. Our Recovery isn't that all stable and consistent. I am not really expecting too much from this phone since its a budget device, and I got most of the things I want and need to work: root, busybox, Viper4Android. The TWRP is a bonus, even if its in a semi-usable state.
It's great if we can have Custom ROMs, but even just a custom kernel will suffice for now.
OFFTOPIC: On another note, I am hoping that Xposed will somehow work for Android 7 onwards. Even without a Custom ROM, that will open a lot of doors for customization.
When source codes get released you can find them here: http://consumer.huawei.com/en/opensource/
When I search for PRA, which I think is your phone model, I can get sources. Seems like sources are available for your phone

Sad news, this is for emui 4.1,for Vodafone users... Rest of the world have emui 4(.0.3)
So what? Custom rom can be based on newer EMUI version source code I guess...

It's not only custom roms but custom kernels. You can't compile kernel for emui 4.1 and flash it for emui 4.0
Yes, surdu is already working on it.

I asked greek Huawei page on Facebook and they don't know anything in particular about EMUI 4.1 on P8 Lite... We can flash CAM ROMs in TWRP but some stuff didn't work... I'll try again. Like NFC not working makes sense, but the theme engine doesn't work at all ?
Yes, this finally happened. Huawei relased kernel source for Honor 4X/4C and for P8 Lite.
I'm so excited now. XD

It will be based on Stock + Miui.
@NAViDArt asked me some months ago with PM trying to release ROM for Miui and opened this Thread: https://forum.xda-developers.com/huawei-p8/development/miui-huawei-p8-t3691953
I find and said, it's a good idea and I will try to do that.
I thought I get time with the beginning of the new year.
But things not always coming as planned.
I had a lot of stress in regular job. I released a Rom for the P9. With the beginning of the new year I got the information that I will loose my job because our Post shop will be closed at end of March together with another.
So, at the moment I have a lot of things to coordinate:
Searching for new Job - working in the Shop until it get closed (inventory etc..) - finishing my new Stock based Roms for P8, for P9, for Mate9 - family..
I told @NAViDArt about this changed situation, but he ignored it - because he can't wait until Miui for P8 is coming
Without asking me, he opened this Thread here and told you: Stable release will coming soon.
But I tell you - I will try to make this port for the P8 - but it comes soon it is released.
And this could be need perhaps some months! We will see
Thanks for understanding

But the next Rom is MagicArrow v3, based on Stock b399.
It will come soon.
And on same Base I am working on Miui Port. But this is a big project.
And I have to manage my life in the meantime.
I and nobody here can live from developing Roms.
Only a few very nice users make sometimes a symbolic donation.
So I have doing Job and everything as everybody else which isn't rich and haven't the time to sit the whole day on PC
@Tecalote: Take your time, family first! Good luck for applying for a new job. THX.

I had no time during the last month, because of several other projects and personal things (like loosing my job) so it will take more time than expected.
