What is Huawei Wi-Fi+ and how does it work? - Huawei Ascend P7

Since Huwei doesn't seem to give ANY real explanation how certain features work, I'm wondering, how does their Wi-Fi+ function works that supposedly intelligently selects between 4G and WiFi?
Does it hang on the WiFi in range, but when it's out of the WiFi's range, it switches to 4G and disables WiFi searching of networks and just pings them here and there or how does it "intelligently" detect them without actually consuming more battery by using 4G and constantly "pinging" for WiFi networks in the vicinity?

as i noticed, wfi+ connect automaticly when you are near saved wifi networks and disconnect when you are far away from them
but it doesn't connect on data network when there is no wifi

WIFI? 3G?

I'm in the UK, and using a Touch Diamond.....on Vodafone 3G. When I'm connected to WIFI, I obviously want to use that for data, rather than use up my precious data allowance.
When I'm connected to a WIFI connection, how do I know Opera/IE/Email are using WIFI - and not my 3G connection? There are times when I'm in my house, and I know it's using my phone data connection, as it's just so slow (very limited reception 3G in my house)....whereas the WIFI should be pretty fast.
i COULD be wrong here.... but the way i know is if the WIFI icon at the top shows connected. If you rphone cant find the WIFI, it'll always divert to a data connection. Play with your phone around the house, see where you get connectivity and how strong to your wifi.

Yes I know when I'm connected to WIFI and how strong it is....what I want to know is how I know whether my phone is using 3G/GPRS - when I am connected to WIFI and want it to use WIFI and not my phone network. There seems to be no indication to show you are actually 'using' the WIFI network over the phone network....
Settings > Communication Settings.
Turn data connection off, turn wifi on.
Do that before you use internet and your sorted.
On both my Diamond and Touch Pro, the Wi-Fi icon appears on the task bar when Wi-Fi is available. Same goes for 3G.
Also note that some programs call for a certain connection method automatically. For example, you will note that some programs initiate 3G instead of using your Wi-Fi connection. Hopefully, there is a configuration option for such apps.
Cheers.
i don't know if you notice it, but if you are connecting through E or H or G or 3G.. the reception bar instead of the antenna you will get the corresponding letter if you are currently connected to one of them
As long as your WiFi is on and none of those letters are showing up.. you will be fine

2g or wifi

I wonder what is the connection that uses more battery, 2g or wifi.
I only use the internet to update the app lockmix, then the 2g enough for me, but I was wondering which spends more battery if it is 2g or wifi
2G uses very little power in the background, but it's very slow so transferring much data over it will use a lot of power because the radio will need to be on constantly.
WiFi uses a significant amount of power even on standby - that's why WP8 defaults to turning WiFi off when the screen is off - but it's probably worth using when available if your only other option is 2G.
BTW, are you sure you meant 2G? That's archaic; 3G has pretty much entirely replaced it and 4G is become more and more common.
I only use the internet on your phone to update the lockmix application (for screen lock), the 2g is enough. I have to have an active connection, my doubt is on wifi or 2g due to battery consumption. my wifi router this to 2/3 meters away and have speed of 30 mb.
But obviously, battery drain's on 2G network, & no issue about Wi-Fi distances, but it also drain's down when background searching & attempt to connect to the network at multiple times.

[Q] Network not switching from Wi-Fi to Cellular Data correctly.

I have an AT&T Galaxy S5 and it does not switch from Wi-Fi networks to Cellular Data automatically.
For example, when I'm at work I have great Wi-Fi signal between many different access points throughout the building, so I prefer Wi-Fi. When I go just outside the building the Wi-Fi signal is terrible, pretty much unusable on any access point although the SSID broadcasts are still visible the signal is too terrible to maintain a connection. So when I'm outside I'd like my phone to automatically switch to Cellular since the LTE signal outside is great.
It seems my Galaxy S5 isn't "Smart network switching," I've tried this with the feature turned off and on. Having to turn off Wi-Fi when I go outside, and then back on when inside is pretty annoying. Plus the fact the phone should be doing this automatically, especially with a feature called "Smart network switch. Automatically switch between Wi-Fi and mobile networks to maintain a stable internet connection."
It's as if my Galaxy S5 keeps trying to use a Wi-Fi network no matter how bad the signal is, as long as it can still see it. Does anyone have any ideas for fixing this?

How do you switch automatically from wifi to cellular data when wifi signal drops?

When I'm out of wifi range or wifi signal is too weak, Nexus 6 does not automatically switch to cellular data. I have to turn wifi off before cellular picks up the data signal and runs with it. How can i do that automatically?

Under developer options select aggressive WiFi to cellular hand-off should help.
That is odd though, mine does it well right out of the box. Even this weekend, I was having major issues at home with Comcast cable and my service went out few times. Unlike iPhone, Nexus showed an ! by the wifi signal and then switched to LTE.

Thats odd. I find that it switches between wifi and data extremely fast.

Question WiFi Problems

Hi community,
I'm writing because I have a strange WiFi problem with my S21 Ultra which I had with no other equipment before.
Setup:
- Galaxy S21 Ultra
- FritzBox 7590
- Fritz WLan Repeater 1750E (2x for better range coverage)
- WiFi 5G Auto channel WPA2/3
- WiFi coverage is good (tested with a lot of other devices)
Phone Setup:
- Paired with the WiFi
- Do Not use Mobile Data
- automatically reconnect to wifi
Problem:
The phone does not automatically connect to the WiFi.
The phone also looses the connection to the WiFi several times a day.
When the phone is not connected to the wifi I open wifi settings.
- It happens that the wifi list is completely empty and the circle animation indicates that the phone is searching for nearby connections
- It happens that the wifi list contains a list of wifi networks the phone has seen before when it was connected last to a wifi
- Switching off an on the wifi helps to find the actual networks and the phone then connects back to wifi (most of the time)
I tried already several settings and combinations but so far none of them brought any success. So I would like to know if someone else had a similar issue or has an idea what could go on here.
To me it seems strange that the wifi scan is not working as I would expect it. I would expect the phone to continously refresh the wifi list with networks it sees, but always when the phone lost its wifi connection the list is not working anymore.
Try tinkering with the wifi channels and encryption until it shows up.
Or you can try resetting the routers to see if it does anything

Has anyone else have WIFI connection problems ? With not finding any WIFI until i factory reset it? And after a few days the problem reappears. Last time i didn't factory reset it and after 3 days, with no adjustment, the phone found WIFI, but...

You said the phone loses connection and etc. Does that happen only at the location you described, or does it also happen at other locations?
It is possible that your phone also gets confused with the router and the repeater.
1st you need to clearly understand if the issue comes from the phone or possibly from your WIFI devices. Once this is clear, you have something to go on with...

- Phone is on standby (placed on a table, etc.)
- I turn it on to check messages,
- No connection to wifi
- Open wifi manager
- No wifi networks listed at all
I do not know why my router/network should be the problem. All other devices in the wifi work flawlessly. It cannot be that I have to restart my wifi router every time the phone finds no wifi at all. That makes no sense to me.
It looks more like the android wifi service is still on sleep and does not report new wifi networks (which would be necessary also to see any wifi at all).
May I suggest....
Settings -> Connections -> Wi-Fi -> (three dots it top right) ->Advanced
Make sure "Turn on Wi-Fi automatically" and "Wi-Fi power saving mode" are both off.
If you use a repeater is it a mesh or AP solution? I find Android will drag its feet letting go of a wifi signal even when walking into range of another known network. Had an extender in garden and even when down to 10% connection on Wi-Fi it would stay connected to extender, I had to turn wifi off and on quickly to get it to pick a better network.

It seems to be the phone...
Definitely try what lywyn suggested...
you can also submit an error report on Samsung Members app, it sends reports directly to Samsung and get the feedback.
Download the app from the Galaxy Store if you don't have it on your phone > Memers app > + button > Error report

Unfortunately no success. I configured exactly like suggested. Does the S21 Ultra have problems with handover in meshed WiFi setups?

sometimes it happen when you connect at certain locations.
If you haven't already done so give this a try. Settings, search "Wi-Fi", scroll down to Location, Improve accuracy - toggle on, Wi-Fi scanning - toggle on.

Mesh is a single network solution so should not be a problem.
The only other thing I can think of is the power-saving mode. My son has his Pixel on power saving all the time and I know sometimes he has to turn off/on wifi to get a connection when waking the phone up
I found the issue! It is WiFi Direct related. The app "nexar" from the dashcam is interfering with normal WiFi on this phone. Nexar conquers the WiFi functionality and is responsible for my wifi disconnecting. The app requires the "Location always" permission. If I remove this permission my WiFi works again normally. So: one has a similar issue: remove "Location always" permission from the nexar app. In my case it helped.
You said the phone loses connection and and many others. Does that show up best on the region you described, or does it also happen at different places?
Kodi nox
It is feasible that your phone additionally receives harassed with the router and the repeater.
1st you need to honestly recognize if the issue comes from the cellphone or likely from your WIFI devices. Once this is clean, you've got something to go on with...
