Hi,
My SM-T810 came with lollipop 5.0.2, and there is no official 5.1.1 update yet.
I already rooted my device under 5.0.2, uninstalled some bloatware. After that, I flashed a 5.1.1 file from sammobile (the XAR version) using ODIN.
That worked very well, but instead of a full clean install, it did an upgrade (so all my apps I installed under 5.0.2 are all there under 5.1.1.)
What I would like to know: how can I do a complete fresh install of the 5.1.1 firmware, without keeping stuff that I installed under 5.0.2.
Should I tick "re-partition" under ODIN and flash the file T810XXU2BOJ1_T810XAR2BOJ1_HOME.tar.md5 ?
Or will this brick my device doing that?

Don't tick that!
Just select the file under Ap. Leave everything else as it is.
Factory reset in recovery if you want a clean install.
thank you.
I did the factory reset from recovery and it looks like that's what I wanted.
If I debloat with titanium backup (uninstall), will the bloatware still be there when I do a new factory reset?

So if I would like to have the bloatware back on 5.1.1, I just flash the 5.1.1 file (.tar.md5) in ODIN?
And if I flash a 5.0.2 over 5.1.1, it will downgrade without issues?

Hello friends, I wonder if anyone has information about the date of the version of android 4.4 for i9295 and know if there is any way to install the 4.3 version that came out for the SGH-I537 AT & T without affecting the bands. Greetings!

Does anyone know if Samsung is planing on releasing 4.4.2 for the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active i9295 i can't seem to find any news regarding update for this this one.
Also, does anyone know if there is a stable custom ROM for i9295 ? i tried carbon but the camera didn't work, so i returned to rooted stock ROM 4.2.2
It would be good if anyone could share a stable custom ROM for Samsung Galaxy S4 Active i9295 with the camera and most features as possible working (doesn't matter if it's 4.3 or 4.4.
Thanks all
From what I know from Samsung they still working on 4.4.2 for I9295. We have to wait.
There's some drivers problems with camera that's why it doesn't work as on stock Rom. That's problems of every Custom Rom that I saw.

Thanks ewa12321 I guess we will have to keep on waiting. If anyone hears anything about releasing date for 4.4.2 for s4 active i9295 please spread the word.

Hey guys, the update is out for the i9295 officially! Unfortunately, you can only get it in the Netherlands right now, and will probably be out around the world in a couple of weeks. If you are impatient like me, you can try flashing the update yourself and relieve that suffering! I can't post the link where I got my update as I am a nub and Mr xda does not want spamming, but a simple Google search can get you to the tutorial on flashing this update using Odin. Also, I am not sure if this will void the warranty as it is the official update but it is being manually flashed. This update should work on any i9295 factory unlocked version.
good luck!
S4 Active i9295 on stock 4.4.2
hello,
does anyone know how to root S4 Active i9295 on stock 4.4.2 ? i used to be rooted on 4.2.2 but was not getting updates OTA, so i re-installed stock 4.2.2 via Odin and updated to 4.4.2 OTA now that i've done this, my phone has knox, anyway i have installed CWM-Recovery-gt-i9295_v1-2.tar.md5 via Odin, but when i try to flash CF-Auto-Root.tar it doen't work, i'm thinking maybe now that i am on 4.4.2 they way to root the phone may be different, any help anyone can provide would be much appreciated.

Hello,
In order to root your 4.4.2 OTA Update, I would recommend reflashing it clean using Odin.
Then download CWM 6.0.4.8 with Swipe by mythi and flash it using Odin. Then download SuperSU v1.99 from chainfire's website or the dev forums and flash the zip file using CWM. Now reboot your device and you are fully rooted.
When you first open SuperSU on your device it will ask you if you want to disable KNOX, just hit Yes.
Good day!

Has anyone done this and does it work... After that can i flash stock jb rom with odin.
And are the instructions for s4 active international ( nordic ) version.
Yes I have done it.
I also have the NEE (Nordic) S4 Active, I tried both with the Stock 4.4.2 NEE from Samfirmware.com and the PHN 4.4.2 ROM of mythi's.
I am now running CarbonRom 4.4.2, and also tried to restore 4.2.2 Stock.
The only downside being that if you install 4.4.2 and restore a custom ROM after that you will get a red line when booting saying "KERNEL IS NOT SEANDROID ENFORCING".
So you can go ahead full speed and try it, works like a charm!

Okay!
My problem is that only updates what i have installed are samsung stock updates, so i haven't never used odin or flashed anything in my phone.
After i updatet my phone to 4.4,2. ( i think it was last week) some of apps stopped to work
Now i'd like to downgrade it back.
I found some instructions that only thing that i have to do is flsh 4.2.2 with odin and i'm back to jb.... it did not work. And now i' back to kk...
But if i use your instructions to root my stock 4.4,2 and after that i flash stock 4.2,2 NEE Rom i' m back to JB.
Can you also type simplified instructions (with downloadlinks) how to do it... it's my first time.
Thanks so much!!!
revert to 4.2.2
hello,
i have a GT-I9295
i have updated from 4.2.2 to 4.4.2 PDA: I9295XXUCNH2 released 7 aug. via odin 3.09
had to do a factory reset to get wifi working, etc..
i then wanted to revert back to 4.2, but i couldn't, and still can't... i did the following:
- flash with odin the 4.2 from sammobile: error: NAND Write Start!!.....<ID:0/004> Complete(Write) operation failed. soft brik, Firmware upgrade encountered an issue. Please select recovery mode in Kies and try again.
- tried to reflash the 4.4 firmware i already had with odin...same error.
- couldnt boot the phone again untill i flashed cwm 6.0.5.0
- installed carbon rom from cwm no problem. did reset, wipe cahe, format system, etc. i now have the not seandroid enforcing message when booting and entering recovery, but everything works.
- tried to flash again with odin the 4.2 official, still no luck. same error right after nand write.
i remember downgrading from 4.4 PDA: I9295XXUCNE4 to 4.2 PDA: I9295XXUBML3 with no problems a while back on my other i9295 via odin.
is the bootloader different in this version of 4.4 i flashed than the one i flashed a while back?
the weird thing is that i get the same write failure with reflashing 4.4 with odin.
any thoughts?
thank you
I have unlocked the bootloader on my encrypted N6 and installed TWRP.
I was invited by my phone to install the 5.1.1 update so I downloaded it, tapped on install and my phone duly rebooted. It booted into TWRP and then nothing happened. I am quite happy to flash the update myself although I'm not sure why it didn't work but I don't know where the update is.
Can I just flash the update like flashing any other ROM using TWRP and if so, where did my phone download the update to?

no, you can not flash an ota unless you are completely stock with a stock recovery and without any system file changes.
Thank you, that answers that question.
In the past I have always flashed non-stock ROMs and I knew I couldn't install OTA updates but now my phone is at least running a stock ROM. I haven't been in this position before.

Its new since lollipop
Yow will need a file manager such as Xplore or ES File Explorer.
Go to build prop and change ro.product.device=jfltespr_xxx or to anything after jfltespr_(texthere).
This will block all system updates.
works on 4.4.2 and 5.0.1

If you already had an update in queue sort of speak, then you would still have that update.
Do you have your phone backed up? if so, factory reset it and after that you will not see anymore updates.
The reason is that Android recognizes this particular change Only on first boot and wont be changed once it has already been registered.
No need to factory reset
I just download Root Firewall.apk
And disaple Internet from all system applications
And now every thing OK
No More update at more

****Update***
You can wipe dalvik-cache in TWRP and it the build prop change will take effect.:good:
I found new and esay way
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s4-sprint/development/stop-automatic-update-t3236292
Doesn't work on every device. @khalid0581 The solution we posted will work because that is how google servers find your device. You will need to factory reset or wipe "dalvik-cache" not data. ( ro.product.device=jfltespr_xxx )
Work for me (after factory reset)
This seems to have worked for me. I flashed to OH1, rooted, installed recovery and then performed this task. So far, it is good. Thank you!

I am currently on Minotauras ROM (MM) and would like to update my Note 5 920G to the latest Nougat firmware---so I can download a Nougat custom ROM (i know one is not dependent on the other, but I was always taught that if the base changes, its best to update the firmware to avoid any potential problems). However, I'm unclear as to what steps should be taken to update the firmware--I'm relatively new to SamSung devices. I know Odin is the update utility, but unclear whether I should first flash a "stock" Marshmallow Recovery and stock ROM--then take OTA...or can I just flash the Nougat firmware and then flash TWRP? What happens to my data & apps? Will all settings be erased?
Please advise.....

1)You are on stock Marshmallow 6.0.1 right as i guess so? Then you have MM bootloader(But if you are on 5.0.1 lollipop bootloader then you need atleast upgrade you bootloader to 6.0.1, you can find MM bootloaders at Samsung galaxy note 5 android development thread anywhere mostly at Dr.ketan Rom N8 S8+ port/You can also find Nougat bootloaders there only)
2)Don't worry then if you want to upgrade to any custom nougat rom then you can simply download prefer one and install through TWRP as you installed Minotorus Rom(Assuming You are on Marshmallow Bootloader and Oem unlocking/Usb debugging options are enabled from Developers option)
3)Or if you want to update your stock firmware to official Nougat for updated model and bootloader after that want to try Custom nougat rom, then you can download official Stock 7.0 firmware for your device N920G and specific country if available from websites like sammobile.com or samsungupdates.com etc (I am unknown about your country afaik samsung released 7.0 for N920G for some specific countries atm, like for asian countries not for latin american countries)
4)Further Odin flashing guides you can find also here within forum only, if you have any query related to odin flashing you can ask me i will provide you Odin flashing guide also(Kindly don't forget to enable Oem unlocking and Usb debugging option from developers option before flashing anything using Odin or you may brick your device)
5)You can also flash official stock 6.0.1 and update through OTA to 7.0 but above mentioned method is easy to directly update to nougat(Only if official Stock 7.0 nougat firmware available for your device model no and country)
6)While updating to stock firmware using odin, all your user data stored on internal storage will be lost(If you directly flash custom nougat rom on minotorus rom then user data stored on internal storage will be there) so i will suggest you take backup of your current data
Peace!!
First off--THANK YOU DroidHackeR for your response. I was out of town so I coulnt respond sooner. But Yes...I'm on MM 6.01 and I would prefer to upgrade to the offical 7.0 firmware. My model number is 920G, which I think is an International model.I am in the Unite States and using Tmobile's bands. I looked on sammobile and saw that they did have the official firmware (but for Bangladesh, India--I didnt see anything that said International...and thats where I kinda got stuck, cause I dont know if that firmware would be compatible). With that being said--I guess my best option would be to flash an official stock 6.01 firmware and then take the update? I have OEM unlocking and USB debugging enabled.
Could you please walk me through flashing via Odin? Like where would I find the stock 6.01 firmware? Sammobile as well? I know I will loose my data..I've backed up most of my files.
Thank you again for help!

Well you can always flash the MM firmware in odin then take the OTA but ive always just flashed the new firmware via odin just because it easy.
And flashing firmware via odin will not wipe your device unless you change your CSC.ive used odin literally 100s of time across numerous devices over the years and it never has wiped my device...common misconception for some reason.
But of course first you need to find the correct firmware for your device on sammobile.
Then once downloaded un zip it and load the tar in the AP slot in odin.
Occasionally a factory reset is needed for the device to boot and that will wipe your storage.
There are tons of tutorials on how to use odin...hit that search button, use Google or even hit you tube for videos (which are useful if your a total n00b since you can see how it runs so no surprises).
If you do it once after that it will seem so easy.

That said i did a quick search for you which led to many results but this is an excellent read.

Well.. I searched YouTube video tutorials, GooGle searched and went to SamFirmware and downloaded a 6.01 stock firmware. However, the file I downloaded was for Bangladesh (I have a 920G model) and it failed when trying to flash it via Odin. So I downloaded another 6.01 firmware--this time for Brazil (as all tutorials have stated that as long as the model number is the same its ok to flash). At first the green loading bar was working and it got all the way through to radio image and then it failed---but now my system has been wiped and now my phone is bricked. Do you or any other member know of a 920G 6.01 firmware that is compatible for the USA? It appears the radios are not compatible causing it to FAIL in flashing it in Odin.
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

1)Did you try to put 4files firmware that comes with BL,AP,Modem,CL separately?
2)As You can get into download mode successfully kindly install samsung smartswitch on your phone>connect your device to pc while in download mode>open smartswitch>select emergency software recovery so that it will recognise your device as well as actual latest firmware for your device to be installed
3)If smartswitch doesn't help anymore, try with full firmware(4 files firmwate of any of Latin American countries as you stated for USA, may be the country's that lies near to you by region) but this time you need to uninstall smartswitch or Samsung kies in case installed as it could possibly mess up with Odin flashing

Thank you for ur response. This is my first SamSung phone---I came from HTC and was familiar with their process of rooting and updating (which was a pain)--but I'm totally unfamiliar with Odin.
When you say put the files in separately---i'm not sure what you mean, cause when I extract the Update zip, I only get a a tar file---should I unzip in a folder?
Thanks again!!!

recently purchased an s2 tab sm-t810 running 7.0 out of the box and want to root it in order to have Xposed. I looked at the root guides you guys have here and wasnt sure if they would work for 7.0. Can someone please direct me to the right place?

If reliable root methods exist without use of a PC for 7.0 that would be even be AWESOME-RR

Thanks to Google's new Safety Net API, magisk is the best option at rooting devices 6.0 and above.
Yes, that's what I am running. I had a bad time getting TWRP installed. I kept getting a weird screen instead of TWRP and I used ODIN 3.12.3 and TWRP 3.1.0-1 and then tried 3.1.1.1 that failed too. I finally ended up using ODIN 3.12.5 and TWRP 3.1.0-1 I also had flash the tablet back to 6.01, and then back to 7.0 as when I tried to use ODIN to reflash directly to 7.0 again but it basically didn't do anything so I had to flash backward 1st. I think the partitions for my stock ROM were somehow messed up, and flashing back to 6.01 and then back up to 7.0 fixed it. Even with that, I had to use the older TWRP 3.1.0-1 I think that was the worst time I ever had getting a device rooted. I set up the stock ROM, and then backed it up using Titanium backup, and also nandroid backup. After that, I blew out the stock rom, and installed AEX and Substratum. I love AEX. Stable, and very fast and I can still play Netflix even with Netflix not supposing to work with rooted devices. Yay Magisk!
