Note 5 Marshmellow Wifi - internet not available ? - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello,
I had absolutely no problem before updating to marshmallow , however directly after the update wifi connection drops and " Internet Not available" is written in place of " connected" .
How can i solve this issue please ?

I have this problem too

I also have this problem but intermittently. Also, when I walk a fair distance away from my router and come back within range, the wifi does not know how to reconnect to my wireless network. I "sort of" had this problem when I was on Jellybean, but it would always know how to reconnect.
Model: SM-N920C
Build: MMB29K.N920CXXU2BPBA
Have tried:
- deleting and re-adding my home wireless details
- Enabling and disabling Smart network switch
- Set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to Always
- Reset my network settings under "Backup and reset"
Any other ideas? I am almost tempted to go for a factory reset...

The WiFi problem kept annoying me, so I have reluctantly bit the bullet and done a factory reset, will post again on my findings if this fixes the issue or not.

10 hours later and I can say that a factory reset does not fix the problem.

Can you even turn the Wi-Fi on so you can at least scan for network's?

MrMike2182, yes I was able to turn the WiFi on to scan for networks. But to clarify, my problem is the WiFi intermittently disconnecting and sometimes not being able to reconnect (had this problem in Jelly Bean and now Marshmallow).

You can try executing with root explorer a file in system/etc. Just go there and search init.goldfish.sh and select execute, that's what i do, when I want to use WiFi

[Q] Data connection issue

Sometimes I am loosing data signal, I haven't figured out when it happens. It appears to be random. Suddenly I have no data signal and I can't get it back until I reboot the Note. Anyone have been through it?Anyone solved it?
Thanks a lot!
I just got my note yesterday and noticed i get booted off wifi after maybe a couple of mins; I also haven't been albe to use data from my carrier for some odd reason. Is this also what you are facing? Does anyone know if I messed up somewhere in the settings or is my note defective?

I can use data from my carrier, but it suddenly gets stopped and the data signal icon dissapears. As I get internet connection sometimes, the APN settings are right, but I don't know what could be...Maybe some app?But I don't use any JuiceDefender-like app! Also my wife uses the same carrier on a SGS2 with the same APN settings and she's got no issue at all.
My wifi issues have mysteriously stopped the same way it started and I found out it was my APN setting that caused the data issue so thank God this is done. Have you attempted factory reset outrun86?

Good for you! Congratulations! I've done several factory resets and installed few roms and the issue stills. BUT yesterday I did a manual search and set of my carrier's net and I have no issues so far...
EDIT: I have Rocket Rom v7 and CSC=AMN

First restart your router and also assured that your internet is in working state.
and if it is phone prob then try some app from market like wifi fix, etc.
And last thing you could try is flashing the rom again.

This is a common prolem in new experience...it's the main reason why i switched to another rom. The problem is not in your router. It's in ROM's kernel.
A possible fix is to connect to desired wifi connection then restart your phone, it should connect automaticlly. And you have to do this every time you connect to a wifi apn...
You can try flashing another kernel.

Thank you so much for your answer....ok i will try what you say...thank so much again
I'm using New experience too.. i don't have that problem.. I used to face similar issue when i was in stock.. wifi kept getting disconnected.. i read somewhere that the router settings was not appropriate for few phones.. didn't make sense at first.. went ahead and changed the "Lease time" settings under "LAN settings" in the router page to "two weeks" from "forever" (not necessarily "two weeks".. any option except "forever" will do) . Never had that issue again..

Wi-Fi poblem in JB ROMS

After the wifi fix ( thanks to all devs who worked hard for that ) I am able to connect to my wifi.
But the problem is, I am not able to access my internet. The problem is the same for all JB ROMS(CM 10, miui v5). All I get is short bursts of access to internet during which webpage loads for a bit and just sticks there. Can't access the playstore too. It just gets stuck at signing in.
My wi-fi is good as I am using the same on my laptop.
Can't seem to figure out what the problem is and am sadly stuck on ICS.
Any help would be great...

That's what confuses me...How come is it only me having this problem..
I have tried flashing the ROM for 4-5 times now but each time it's the same...
Have tried doing complete wipe, with and without wiping /system, tried both prometheus and NOPE kernels but the problem persists.
And its the same for cm10 and MIUI v5...haven't tried any other JB based ROMS.
Maybe i shall try to turn off security in my wifi..(can that by any chance be causing it??)
Tunring off wifi security can only cause people freeloading on your wifi. I dont know about the problem.
You could turn off password authentication and filter by MAC address, just to be safe and be able to test at the same time. Although, I had no problems on connecting to secure networks. There is an authentication problem on reconnect, though.
Finally solved..
Got my wi-fi to work finally....
The problem apparently was with encryption....got an idea from this HOX thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1989203
I earlier used to have a AES+TKIP encryption with WPA-PSK authentication....changing network authentication mode to OPEN made it work instantly.
But open connection = freeloaders...so tried a combination of WPA-PSK and TKIP and it worked too...haven't checked it with AES...
Finally wi-fi is working...
Thanks to everyone who tried to help out....i really appreciate it...

Further the wifi now disconnects only if no wifi related task is continuing and the phones locks up.
If a download is going on, it continues even after phone gets locked.
Just thought I should share that...
EDIT: airplane mode trick + wifi keep alive app (kudos to webhijacker for finding it out) does solve the Wi-fi issues..

[Q] Wifi disconnect in sleep mode

I try again here to find a solution.
I am using CM12-1-20150611 on an XT1068 and my problem is, that my wifi disconnects in sleep mode. I don't get any push notifications. If I switch on the display, all notifications arrive, becouse than the wifi reconnects. I tryed several changes in my accesspoint but without any effects.
Any ideas? Would be glad to hear from you guys.

The problem came up after one of the latest NIGHTLYs.

Thank you anyway.

Solution
Okay, after again testing I did not find the solution:
bye Udo
Try again with another nightly with clean flash
Same issue on stock 5.0.2, stock kernel.. I don't think it's a cyanogenmod bug

Okay, finally I changed my Netgear WG302 WLAN accesspoint with an Funkwerk R1200w Router and now it's working nicely.
Never had problems befor with the Netgear, but seems that cm12.1 does not like it.
Thanks, Udito

Changed my WLAN AP, now everything is fine....
Finally i found a solution for this annoying issue:
I replaced the config file for the Quallcom wifi adapter (/system/etc/firmware/wlan/prima/WCNSS_qcom_cfg.ini) with the configuration from the stock 5.0.2 ROM. No side effects so far...
If there is any demand i could upload a flashable zip replacing the file.

WiFi disconnects constantly

It happens mostly when the screen is off (even though I have the always on setting enabled) but also when using the phone normaly. Suddenly I get a toast that I was connected to my WiFi. I've also checked the router logs an I see that the honor 5c is constantly disconnecting and reconnecting. Does anybody else have this problem? I'm on latest emui 4.1.2 without root or any other mod. I played with different channels and frequencies but that didn't help at all. Any ideas? I think it has to do with the battery optimization settings of marshmallow but even on the performance setting the WiFi connectivity just drops.
Whoever finds this will be my hero
In the wifi settings, just check that, "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" is set to always or not. If not then set it to always.
Edit : Sry i haven't read ur post properly. Is this the problem from the starting? Coz i don't have this issue.
I think I noticed this problem since the beginning but after flashing the latest 4.1.2 it got worse. Skype and WhatsApp calls get disconnected while screen is off (after 15 seconds or so).

Hello,
I have exactly the same issue. I checked also dhcp mode in the developer tools.
Did you found a way to solve it ?
Changing the router solved the problem.
