i have installed ICS alpha 4 its looks great but if i boot with my SIM card installed its asks for the SIM pin - BUT it doesnt show the keyboard so i cant enter the pin number.... if i boot without the sim installed it going straight through but i still have some trouble disbaling the hardware keyboard... i hope i explained that right...
so long msg short... how do i get the keyboard to show on the lockscreen so i can enter the SIM PIN ??
i hope someone can help as ICS alpha looks amazing
Hi, i did have the same problem.
Reading through the ICS rom thread i found the solution to be disactivating PIN control while using a standard rom or by putting your sim in your phone and turning the option off.
Then ICS boots without asking SIM again.
Hello,
I used for following trick:
- Go to lock screen by taping Back button on pin entering screen
- On lock screen tap clock in status bar to get popup window and tap setting icon
- On setting window - activate airplane mode and reboot
You will get into ICS without entering pin. Then use "Messages" app to get text entry field. In the status bar you will see small keyboard icon. Tap it and turn off HW keyboard. Now you should get on-screen keyboard and could switch off airplane mode and will be able to enter pin.
Regards.
Hi xda developers,
is there a way to change or modify the wallpaper that is used on an encrypted HTC One after you boot and before you enter your PIN / password to continue the boot process (decrypting storage - green android on black background) and the regular lock screen shows up?
I would like to put some owner information on that first screen as well, because it is the one and only screen a user sees on an encrypted device after (re)boot when the PIN / password is unknown.
Thanks!

It's called boot animation, you can change it easily by rooting ur phone.
Another solution, you can install an app called "gotya" that displays whatever text you want when a wrong pin code is entered, and also takes a picture of the person entering the code via the front camera and sends it to your email adress with location info also.. It's meant for when you loose ur phone or when it gets stolen..
Search "gotya" in the play store.
Hope it helps
Thanks for your immediate answer!
The app "gotya" is a neat idea, but has a different use case. When you reboot you don't have any network connection and it does not work with the device / storage decryption dialog either.
The bootanimation could be used to show some owner information, indeed. But actually I am looking for the wallpaper that is loaded right after the bootanimation and before the regular lock screen.
This is the boot sequence on an encrypted HTC One:
1) boot animation (with incredible loud sound..)
2) "decryption lock screen" (has only one lock symbol to be pulled up, uses default wallpaper, the glass skyscraper face on my device)
=> pull up the lock symbol
3) device / storage decryption dialog ("enter password to decrypt device storage")
4) green android on black background
5) boot animation (with incredible loud sound..)
6) unlock SIM card screen (SIM pin)
=> enter SIM pin
7) unlock device screen (device pin / password)
=> enter device pin / password
8) home screen
If you exit the unlock SIM card screen (step 6) or the unlock device screen (step 7) with the back button, you will get to the "regular" lock screen. This screen's wallpaper can be changed (though not in the "productive lock screen mode"...).
However, I am trying to change / modify the wallpaper of the lock screen in step 2). The owner information should be placed on this screen as well, as you can't skip step 3) without knowing the Android decryption password (which is your device PIN / password by default).
I have tried in my lock screen settings to change to pin or pattern but no matter what after I re-lock my phone I still get the option to swipe the screen and there is no pin or patter it goes right to the home screen. I am probably missing an option but there was no alternative options on my Galaxy S3. Any help guys?
Hi I just bought a note 8 and I can not understand why, when I pull the nib with locked device by activating always on memo do not Tap on the Pin icon located near the top right of the Screen off Memo or press save in notes or I have to do as many touches as if not reading my touch on the display ( whether I use the s-pen or fingers). I tried to erase the temporary data of the Always on display app, disable and reactivate both alwarys on display and always on memo but nothing to do.
Can someone help me?
Thanks
It's a little hard to understand what you mean. I'm guessing XDA is not letting you post screenshots. Try clicking "Go Advanced" if you're on the XDA site in a web browser, then click the paper clip icon above the text box.
AOD and Screen off memo features on mine are working fine, except for a software flaw where, when turning the screen off and then a notification or call comes in, the note is automatically saved to the Samsung Notes app, and from there, I can't put it back on the AOD.
Hi Kbasi,
pratically when the S-Pen is out of the device, and i write a memo on screen off display, do not work the Tap on the Pin icon located near the top right of the Screen off Memo (delete/delete all - pin to always on display and on the top left saves in notes). I apologize for my English not so good.
Tap it just 2 times
Has anyone found a solution for this? Im having the same problem. I take out the pen when the screen is off and I write something on the Screen Off Memo. When I tap the "Pin" or "Eraser" icon, it seems that the screen does not register the touches. It does the same thing when I hit "Save to Notes". The only way to save my note is to put the pen back in, but I want to pin it instead of saving it.
I've had same problem for a while, anyone have a fix?
Sent from my [device_name] using XDA-Developers Legacy app
Did any one get a fix for this mine is the same?
I've had this problem as well, however tapping twice on the save will save it - but the tapping twice on the eraser won't allow you to erase anything...

It is the Cerberus block status bar feature that causes this, however the overlay that blocks that area didn't cover the whole of the icons. Tap in the lower area of the icons and you'll be good or turn of the Cerberus block status bar feature.
Hi all,
This issue has been bugging me for a while now. I am not new to android OS. But recently the company I work for has introduced a secure mobile policy that means if i have to access corporate email and calendar I have to encrypt the device and setup password for boot, and use 8 digit password instead of pin or face or iris or fingerprint recognition. The 8 digit password is a must.
The most annoying part is that after I enter the password, the device does not take me to the home page, but instead it takes me to the page where I have to swipe to go to homepage.
This is annyoing as hell. I have tried various things but it it didnt work.. like going into..
Lock Screen and Security > Screen Lock Type > None
And then choose Password. After this I get the Notifications (says, Select display option for notification on the click lock screen) page which i have turned off .
Inspite of that if i unlock the phone with the password the additional step of going to the screen where i have to swipe to log in automatically shows up.
Please guide.
Switch off smart lock.
