I have Android running from an SD card on my Bell HTC touch. I would like to upgrade to a faster and bigger SD card.
Can I just copy the contents from one card to the other (from windows) without re-installing?
unless your using any kind of ext2 partition, yes you can just copy everything over and it'll go fine with the new one.

If you are using EXT2 partitions on your old card...
1) Using your old SD card, reboot and press the "D" pad button
to bring up the Repli-Menu
2) Back up your data using the "RepliMenu" option
3) Copy all files from old SD card to the new SD card
4) Press the "D" pad button to bring up the replimenu
- Install System and any androidupdates
- Restore data
5) Quit Repli-Menu and you are all done!
Whats`s the advantage of setting up ext2 partitions?
I'm just curious.

you can create as big of data as you want with a partition instead of a 256mb img file. I for instance have a 512mb ext partition setup so i can have system on nand and data on partition and i can install as many apps as i want pretty much instead of having a limit.

with having the partitions do you notice a speed increase?

no if anything its a decrease. Nand is always the fastest way to go. But not to much difference.
Although mssmisons latest sense is much faster on nand

So without any ext2 partitions, I'm limited to a total of 256 MB of space for apps, data etc regardless of the size of my SD card?
Is this correct?

Anyone know whats up with is? I have 10gigs free.... ?
Possibly memory on your phone not memory disk is full. May need to move some installed apps to SD card.

Did you ever partition your internal memory to anything but 2gb. Seems to happen when people partition differerent from the stock 2gb.

Yeah I did partition it! A few weeks ago it just shut down on me then started in bootloop nothing I did worked until partitioning the drive. How can I fix this? And can I just un-partition reload the rom? Got the step by step? lol

You partition it the same way you did it before. Using clockwork. Just pick 2gb, and 0 for swap and the problem should go away. It will delete all the stuff on your internal sdcard so make a copy if it's important. And then reload whatever rom you like.

If you have a droid incredible you need to post in the Droid Incredible forum. This is fixing a problem with the Viewsonic G Tablet
Thanks bro. I did it and it work. I had a partition before of 4gb. I made a re-partition of 2gb like you said. Now I can download a lot of apps.
Thks.
Hi
Is it possible to change the data partition that it is by default 2gb size?
I would want about 4gb, I have a lot of apps and I got all the time the low space advice, and I can't move more to the sdcard partition because then the bug of reboot appears and I can't use the phone.
I just want to have 4/8 instead of the default 2/10.
thanks
Wait for ICS. In ICS system partition and storage partition will be the same.

Not true...ICS won't change this behavior at all.
This is what I am currently doing: I made a 1GB ext4 partition, and i link all my apps to that using Link2SD.
This is working and i maintain about 100MB free on my internal memory. I have seen some other screenshots of ACE users, that somehow trick their phones to thinking that the Sd partition is the internal memory and everythign will automatically install there, and in system storage it reports the total space as that of the partition and not the ~100 MB.
how can i do this? what apps do I need

that looks confusing as hell. and he doesnt even use an ace. before i try it and may ruin something, has anyone tried this with an ace
Lol. What u describe there is what the amarullz script doing, swapping internal memory with sdcard and made phone think sdcard is the phone memory for app data.

looking at his picture, it seems like he will be saving more files on the internal memory as opposed to what im doing now where everything is on SD. is that not counter intuitive

yes, but the creator said it will improve overall performance.
the more you install app = more dalvik cache
and one day, your internal memory become full.....of dalvik cache
so is there a way to still have everything on the SD card, but also have the phone think that the 1GB partition is the internal memory
My system storage almost full. I would like to resize the partition by free up the internal sdcard space.
Is it possible to do it in Original ROM of 4.1.2? It should be better to do it easily.

Use titanium backup or a tool like that to delete system apps which you don't need. Before you do delete them though first freeze them to make sure you don't delete something needed.

Resizing the system partition won't give you anything. What exactly do you want to do? Because if you want more space for your installed user apps then you should check this out:
