Any way to increase free space? XT1095 - X 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello!
I'm very happy with my Moto X, It's a great phone but those "16 gb" are very frustrating for me. I come from another 16 gb phone, an HTC One X. In that one I had plenty of photos, videos, many apps and games and a lot of music even some albums in FLAC format.
With my moto X, I can't have nearly half of that stored because the memory isn't enough. I had to convert all my music to MP3 128 kbps, I just have like 5 videos top (no more than 10 minutes of 1080p videos), very few photos and it seems to be a limit on the number of apps. So I have less apps and I had to forget about some "heavy" games and I still have very few space!
I don't understand. Maybe there is a folder somewhere that has a tone of files I'm not aware of? is it possible to delete all things related to voice moto? (nice feauture when you're new withthe phone but 5 months later, it's something you just don't use anymore).
If the phone is just like that, I don't understand what is the point of 4k video or 60 fps video recording. You record 10 minutes and run out of space!
I'm running android with the stock rom. I got the marshmallow upgrade in December I think. I haven't done any modding, not even root. I bought the unlocked version from Amazon.
thank you!!

Video Recording

Video recording app now in the market, tested and works ok overall but no sound. To stop recording hit back button. Very buggy!!
watts da name of it
yeah it's working well.
very, very buggy mind you, alot of force closing but, hey, it works i suppose.
quality's not too bad but it's really slow, so as long as you keep still it works fine
i'll get a little video uploaded to show you.

Been trying to find it myself, all it has in the program file is a bunch of blank pics! Man its a start but buggy as hell!!!
on the website it says there's gonna be an update in the next 2-5 days so lets hope the bugs get ironed out. also i'd quite like to see more stable recording and sound
but maybe i'm asking too much
Interesting. Pity about the bugs and no sound, but it's a start, which is very good.
Good start. Bring on the updates.
Keeps asking to update! very annoyin
i saw this app today, for some reason decided not to download it
but its a "good" start
hope to see this being updated constantly.
How could u not even try it out .
I grabbed it as soon as physically possible.
It needs a lot of work.
And yes, MJPEG
Really needs some work haha.
EDIT: I just realized that my post has a lot of smilies
Update Released!
New update with a much cleaner interface. The videos are stored(i use this loosely) onto the sd card in /.org.android7/videorecorder. Uses about 16m for 10 seconds of video. The audio works as long as you also have the VoiceClient installed, it's not very loud but it's there.
After opening the app press record to open the recorder window(your not recording yet) hit menu-record to record and the same to stop recording.
I'm curious how the recording is working? It would be nice to at least be able to re-assemble the recordings on my machine.
In the video folder there are two file types blah.3gp [16kb] (appears to only be the audio) and a group of blah.jpg [~225kb] images (tho these are not viewable even on my pc?) any ideas?
The videos it makes are not viewable on any of the other viewers on android either. (the only thing it's really missing)
Well, it seems to get better with updates.
2 things i realized...
1) When you replay a video after you record it, it plays like its on fast-foward or 2x.
2) If you delete a video from your phone, the video gets deleted(Why is 30 seconds of recording 32 Megs by the way?) BUT the audio files from the video(which the file type is .jpg also, weird?)stays in the anroid7.org folder so they never really delete, you have to manually go in there and delete them when you USB to your comp.
Either way, i consider the effort and applaud him for the first video recording app of its kind on the android OS, i see potential in the future.
built-in video player?
I'm confused.. I know g1 doesnt have a built-in icon for video player but i just noticed that i can open a video file using an astro file manager (unless astro has a video player itself).. it has an auto-rotate function too and looks like the Video Player in the Market.. hhmm.. And currently, I dont have any video player program installed in my G1... Can someone clarify this?
Ya, I've tried rebuilding the 'video' into something useful. The Audio file name is xxxxx.jpg.3gp (amr i believe) and the images 225k each ~2/sec don't appear to actually be .jpg, nor can i get them open with .gif .bmp .jpeg .png as extensions
this is on windows, maybe they'll turn up something more promising on *nix.
I quit testing this.
It's not encoding nothing only take fast pics and save de audio on 3gp format.
It's good to see that we can take pcitures so fast because this show us the real posibilities with this cam on HTC G1.
Google has to build something using the internal h264 posibilities of decode/encode(i guess) to encode the pics and audio on real time(too heavy processing ?)
Till that time....just wait and see
It CAN.
WinMo guys did.
Prove me wrong.
HTC Touch Diamond T-mobile G1
Main specs:
Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU Qualcomm MSM7201 CPU
192 MB of RAM 192 MB of RAM
3.2 MP Camera, no flash 3.2 MP Camera, no flash
OS: WinMo OS: Google Android
Videorecording:
352x288x30fps None.
So:
1) It is definately technically possible.
2) Hey, WinMo does Android, the open source, WTF???
Where's Our Video Player?
Does anyone remember TCPMP / Core Player on WinMo?
Why can't we have that satisfaction on our G1's???
Is it the hardware-decoder thing? Is it OTW?
Anyone know what's up?
There is a video player, It's called Video Player....

cinema lag?

hey guys i just downloaded cinema because i got a Ridata 4GB card, and i just transferred harold and kumar go to white castle onto the card to keep me from dying of boredom at work, and at first it lagged i thought ehh just working out the kinks, then the major lag came, i was just wondering is there anything i could do to improve the video quality or a different video player that might help me?, i did a previous search but came up with squat, unless i have missed something, anyone? anyone?!
Weird, i have never had problems with video playback, except on Eclair roms, but on 1.6 roms its very weird...are you using 10MB Ramhack?
What setting did you use to convert the file from the dvd?
nope, no 10MB ram hack, cos i heard thatll make your gaming and videos laggy, but yeah, maybe it was how it was converted
hmm evilkorn, it has all these different settings such as frame size, bitrate, and framerate, i just left them untouched when i converted the dvd file to a mp4 file, well i dont use dvds, i used dvd rip from torrents haha, but yeah i dont know why it did that, ill try again later

[Q] Handling video with the HD7

I haven't traded in the HD2 yet, the jury for me is still out on some additional WP7 features.
I was trying to upload videos from a retail unit online so I can see the video quality. Lo and behold there was no viable option that I could come up with that would allow me to upload or examine video taken on the HD7!
I tried many websites (megaupload, rapidshare, etc), but apparently MS only allows access to the photos when upload any files, kinda sh*tty if you ask me. I haven't had a chance to delve into the FB or YouTube apps, but I'm sure the video is converted to online format.
Other than using the Zune software, is there a way to upload/offload video from the HD7??!
I've heard about the cloud, but I don't think the retail HD7 would have access anyway as it wouldn't allow me to sign in.
Thanks.
Cyph.
No atm the only way to get videos of the phone is via zune/cable. Not a ****ty decision if you ask me, as all of my videos are recorded in 720p and thus are massive in size, so i wouldn't want the opputinity to rape my data allowance just so my friend can see a video.
I'd imagine this feature will become available in the future, but as i'm sure you're aware, MS wanted the basics covered when they released the OS, which they've done pretty well. Any further features will be in the form of updates/3rd Party Apps. Let's see what January/february's update will bring...

16 gb enough space?

To those of you who have the 16 gb version and are dual booting webos and android, is the 16 gb of built in memory enough for you? Are you running out of space with apps, pics, music, etc? Might buy one so kinda curious. Then again I do have dropbox and the 50 gb box.net app so I'll probably be good anyways. Thanks in advance.

Should be plenty for dual booting android. Not sure what kind of resources Linux uses
Google Music will be your best friend if you have a large chunk of music. I never was a fan of any of the cloud services only because of the upload limit size, however I did just find this workaround for box.net
http://www.webosbuzz.com/webos-info...ound-100mb-upload-limit-box-net-accounts.html
Still not sure how much I'll use it since I don't do anything with books/novels and my music is taken care of through google music, and I'm sure that work around mentioned above won't work unless it's multiple files, not one large one, such as a movie.

They will get rid of that work-around at some point.... just saying.
I have the 16gb Touchpad and most of the memory is filled of files from Gameloft and EA games and my titanium backup (don't like dropbox).
The rest is all on google music or Box
I've always felt 16 was plenty. I have all the apps I want in both webOS and ICS, and still have about 8GB free on the storage. I think I have about 1GB free on the system partition (that's where the apps install). But, I don't put on any music or videos. I have Netflix, Pandora, and Google Music, so I stream any content I want.
To me the device is basically a paperweight without a network connection. Like 90% of my use is either YouTube, Netflix, or web browsing. So I dont worry about space.
If you plan on loading it up with music I would think 16 us still plenty. Even though I have over 100 GB of music files, I only really listen to about 2GB consistently on my phone. If you plan on loading movies on it, 16 may be an issue.

Although I'm subscribed to services such as google music and box.net, I store my media files locally as opposed to streaming, so 16gb didn't suffice for me. My thinking is that streaming media files via box.net or google music is a good option if you: 1) stream only over wifi or 2) have an unlimited data plan. Basically unless you're utilizing your phone for wireless tether (on a limited data plan) for the majority of your network consumption, you could conceivably survive with 16gb.
I own the 16GB version, and the space is sufficient for my needs, although in hindsight I would have preferred the 32GB version because I often find myself playing the game of "Do I keep these files, or those files?".

Two questions about Safestrap Recovery v3.6x

Hi to All.
I have two questions about Safestrap Recovery v3.6x for S4 Active ATT.
I have to post here in this section because of forum rules or who knows I do not have permission to post in the right, original tread: S4 ACTIVE/RECOVERY LOCKED/MF3] Safestrap Recovery v3.6x
So my questions are for those that already tried Safestrap Recovery v3.6x on ATT S4 ACTIVE with Google edition ROM,
1. What size is needed for ROM slot1 to be in order to have enough space for the ROM to work properly and not to waste space from mass memory ?
2. The video preview problem ( low Res.) mentioned in the description, is it just for video preview for video clips from camera or is it for all videos played on the phone, like movies or other videos played from SD card with other video player ?
1) The system is always the same size: 2.8GB (2800MB) and can't be altered, whereas the space you assign for data (installing apps/etc) is either 1, 2, or 3GB - I'm pretty sure most people choose 2GB (which is what I use) because 1GB is a bit lean considering, and 3GB is a bit on the other end to the extremes. 2GB is fine for most anyone I'd say. 300MB is assigned for the cache so when you're all said and done it's 2800MB + 2GB + 300MB = 5.1GB basically. Even though you have 4 ROM slots, the only way you could use those would be to use 1GB for the data/etc and I think just one ROM is plenty for most anyone - that's just my opinion, however, you do whatever you think you require.
2) I don't use the video preview functionality so I can't comment on it, but when playing back videos they work just fine in regular mode. I use MX Player myself (purchased it because there's nothing better in my opinion) but Netflix, etc, all play as normal in full screen view when made to do so without issues.
With 16GB of internal storage (14.9), and about 4GB of that taken for the stock ROM to begin with, we're left with about 10.9GB (very rough estimate) to use for Safestrap and installing stuff. You can see by simple math that you can get one, maybe two ROMs in their before the internal storage is completely utilized - hence having a nice big microSD card for other storage.
To elaborate a little bit more on the video preview, the only issue is when you switch to record video, what you see in the viewfinder looks pixelated. The video records at full resolution and all videos playback at full resolution, it's just when you're recording video that it looks bad even though it's really not.
WiFi is kinda wonky using safestrap... Slower
