Easiest way is to use a custom rom that's already setup for it like this:-
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s6/development/rom-weta-v1-0-t3177550
I use it and it really makes a difference

well first of all your device need to be rooted and if you already have root follow these steps
-download the attached file and put on your device storage
-using root browser or any root explorer app navigate to System then etc
-place the file you downloaded there
-confirm to replace and set permission to rw-r-r
-reboot your device and you should notice the difference

no problem
using any root explorer app go to system--etc
look for this file mixer_paths.xml
open it using any text editor and look for these lines
-<path name="gain-media-speaker">
<ctl value="26" name="DSP5L Input 1 Volume"/>
<ctl value="26" name="DSP5L Input 2 Volume"/>
<ctl value="32" name="AIF4TX1 Input 1 Volume"/>
<ctl value="32" name="AIF4TX2 Input 1 Volume"/>
you see the numbers in red, that's what you need to increase ( for example from 32 to 36 ) so it will be like this
-<path name="gain-media-speaker">
<ctl value="26" name="DSP5L Input 1 Volume"/>
<ctl value="26" name="DSP5L Input 2 Volume"/>
<ctl value="36" name="AIF4TX1 Input 1 Volume"/>
<ctl value="36" name="AIF4TX2 Input 1 Volume"/>
for me increasing to 36 is ideal cause the volume boosted without distortion.
once you are done save and reboot your device.
by the way you can see the title say's " gain-media-speakers" this means you are applying the boost to the speakers.
you can do the same to headset and bt..etc..

[Tutorial] How to make manila 2.5 animated wallpapers

I've been making a few of these and I decided after a couple of requests that I should make a tutorial. I will try to be as thorough as possible. If I missed a step, please let me know and I will correct it. Thanks!
This tutorial will be for the Circles Animated Wallpaper. If I have time, I will add the Brush and Light Wallpapers later.
Things you will need:
1. A .png picture editor - Photoshop, Gimp, Paint.Net etc.
2. CFC_gui editor http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=3164600&postcount=1
3. A file explorer that will allow you to overwrite files in the Windows folder : Total Commander, Resco Explorer etc.
Step 1.
Create a folder on your Desktop PC Called Circles.
Step 2.
Open the file explorer on your phone that you will be using and go to the "Windows" folder.
Step 2a.
Locate, copy, and paste the following files to your storage card:
1f3e9503_manila
2bfd66c8_manila
2c0f7f49_manila
2c33b04b_manila
2c45c8cc_manila
2c2197ca_manila
5ad77c2b_manila
199e77cf_manila
4256a2d4_manila
42448a53_manila
423271d2_manila
Step 3.
Go to the "Windows>Animated Wallpaper" folder.
Step 3a.
Copy the file _RAW_Circle.png to your storage card
Step 4.
Copy these files to the "Circles" folder on your PC that you have created.
Step 5.
Open CFC_gui.exe
Step 6.
Select "File>Select Folder>Circles (Wherever you saved your Circles folder)
Step 7.
Select "Tools>Export to PNGs". To keep things simple, export the PNGs to the Circles folder.
Step 8.
Now open your photo editing software and begin editing your pictures.
_RAW_Circle.png is the thumbnail veiw that you will use to select your Wallpaper when you are finished.
5ad77c2b_manila is a 512x1024 image of your background
To make the next two images (199e77cf_manila and 1f3e9503_manila) you will need to start out with a 480x640 wall that you are using. These two images when combined, need to match up perfectly.
The rest are simply the circles that you can replace with any image you desire.
Be sure to replace and save all of the pngs with the same name in the circles folder.
Step 9.
Go back to CFC_gui. Select the first file in the window on the left. Hit the "Replace with" button on the lower right. Select the png from the "Circles" folder that has the corresponding name. This will overwrite the manila file with that name in the "Circles" folder. Do this with all of the files in the window on the left.
Step 10.
Now hit: Tools>Finish Up. The wizard that follows will CFC Compress, Pad, and Trim your files to optimize them for use on your device.
Step 11.
Move all of the manila files in the folder and the _Raw_Circle.png back to your storage card.
Step 12.
Copy all of the manila files in step 11 over to your Windows folder on your device. If asked to overwrite the existing files, click yes
Step 13.
Copy the file _RAW_Circle.png to the "Windows>Animated Wallpaper" folder. Again, if asked to overwrite the existing files, click yes
Now restart your device, go to Settings tab>Personalize>Home tab wallpaper>animated wallpaper and select your new wallpaper!
Big Thanks out to DavidMMorley over at PPCGeeks for this. If you want to change the WAY that the images animate, follow these instructions:
You will need m9converter http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...54&postcount=2
Convert your file to a XML using that tool (dos command line tool)
Now you can edit your XML, Notepad++ is perfect
snippet of lines 539-563
<Object Type="GLESSprite2D">
<Property Name="Center" X="8.0" Y="-8.0" Z="0.0" />
<Property Name="Position" Animated="true">

<Keyframe Frame="250" X="300.0" Y="-450.0" Z="0.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="479" X="0.0" Y="-380.0" Z="0.0" />

</Property>
<Property Name="Opacity" Animated="true">
<Keyframes>
You can control the transparancy of each step also, why their is a extra one I do not know
<Keyframe Frame="220" Value="50.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="250" Value="50.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="479" Value="50.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="480" Value="50.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="520" Value="50.0" />
<Keyframe Frame="550" Value="50.0" />
</Keyframes>
</Property>
<Property Name="Texture Path" Value=".\Assets\Images\Home\WVGA\circle01.qtc" />
You can stretch your image if you want also here:
<Property Name="Size" Width="76.0" Height="76.0" />
How long do you want this particular one to last:
<Property Name="Duration" Value="956" />
</Object>
Lots of trial and error in there to play with, have some fun. I have ones that go around the screen and ones that fall upwards.
Now use the m9converter and turn back into a manila file and place in your windows directory.

asset path?
I'd like to change the graphics of the icons, not just their scripted movements... but when I open the file (as well in your example portion) there is the line:

where the hell is this .\Assets... stuff? I really cannot find this path!

I've been trying to create my own animated theme but i'm struggling to get the RAW_Circle/background image to work.
I'd created a new RAW_Circle file and put that in the windows folder and the animated wallpaper folder, I also created the two manila files 1f3,199etc and the 512 background image but when i select the new one via animated wallpapers (I can see my new image) the screen/background goes white.
I've also resized them to 480x640 dimensions (i've got a VGA device) but now i just get a plain black background?
I've also been trying to play with the scripts via m9editor. I want to make all 8 manila files (the circles) appear and replace each other in the same place. e.g the first one appears in the bottom right corner and the next one replaces it in the same position and so on. I won't need the five stages/keyframes of each animation just one, but can i just delete the other four keyframes from the script below??
<Object>Type="GLESSprite2D"
<Property> Name=Center Value="X=38 Y=-38 Z=0"
<Property> Name=Position Value="PosX=2E-05"
<Keyframes>
<Keyframe> Frame=160 Value="X=6553600 Y=-6553600 Z=0"
<Keyframe> Frame=260 Value="X=16384000 Y=-36044800 Z=0"
<Keyframe> Frame=459 Value="X=16384000 Y=-36044800 Z=0"
<Keyframe> Frame=460 Value="X=6553600 Y=-6553600 Z=0"
<Keyframe> Frame=560 Value="X=16384000 Y=-36044800 Z=0"
and would i need to change this line... <Property> Name=Position Value="PosX=2E-05"
to...
<Property> Name=Position Value="PosX=2E-01"
anyone help??
I already have this problem in cooking room...
You do copy thefiles in W/animated and windows...
I know it's strange...
Ex:
In Energy rom copy the files in W/animated
In MaesusLeo V1.9 Copy W/animated is not enough... copy to windows again

How To Change Your Boot Up Sound

Before anyone reads the following instructions, I would like to point out that THESE INSTRUCTIONS WERE MADE BY makbil, I only thought that since it was only a post in a thread it would take a lot of time to find it, credits all go to him!
Here is a short guide for those who want to change their boot up sound.
1- Find your dream file and convert it to ogg format (Google will be very helpful in finding free converters).
2- Rename the converted file to: android_audio.mp3
3- Copy the converted & renamed file to your SD card.
4- Using "Root Explorer" go to /data/local (Astro does not work, it will not show root folders)
5- View the permissions for android_audio.mp3 there (It's read for all and read/write for user)
6- Delete android_audio.mp3
7- Copy android_audio.mp3 from your SDcard to /data/local.
8- Check permissions and change to the previously observed values.
9- Exit Root Explorer.
10- Reboot (nornal)
Enjoy your new boot sound
Again, credit goes to makbil.
Ah, very nice... unfortunately it's only for around 17 secs, whereas my boot animation is for about 25secs... anyway for us to make it match the duration of the boot animation?
Try slowing down the sound very slightly so it lasts longer, or you could add something extra at the end?
The sound file is just under 1 minute in length so it could not be that...
Well you don't need a sound file that lasts just under 1 min if your animation is only 25 secs, try shortening it
I just cut the audio file to 25s but the music still stops around 16/17s into the boot animation. Maybe there is a duration limit?
There is no time limit, because I moved there a song which lasts over six minutes. The song will stop when system is ready, of course!
You can set also downanimation sound, if You go to /system/customize/CID/ and open default.xml. Open it and cp text
audio="/data/local/android_audio.mp3" /> between
<ShutdownAnimation image_png="/system/customize/resource/downanimation.zip"
and
fps="15" />
Like this:
<ShutdownAnimation image_png="/system/customize/resource/downanimation.zip"
audio="/data/local/youraudioname.mp3" fps="15" />
And You must not convert your song. It is enough, if it is mp3.
I will try this again after submitting this..
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA Premium App
Keeping it mp3 instead of ogg fixed it. It now plays until the boot animation finishes or system becomes ready.
No success with this. I am running LeeDroid v 2.5 final. I have tried the steps you mentioned above and couldn't get this to work. Does this require re-flashing the ROM??
Will this work on a Evo 3d?
No success either for me. I'm running Beatmod Bliss Sense Hybrid

Increase Headphones Volume of Mi3

Hi all,
I recently brough MI3, everything about phone was good except volume from headphones were very low,
Since many review called it as "Apple of China" i expected lot about volume,
I found a thread miui.com about volume increase,
Normally i done it by editing snd_soc_msm_2x file in my previous s4 mini and xperia sp but MI3 doesn't have it,
The file which has to be edit is "system/etc/mixer_paths_3_2_forte"
Steps:
1. Root your device
2. Download any root explorer
3. Goto to "System/etc"
4. Open "mixer_paths_3_2_forte" file
5. In that file Search for "<path name="headphones">"
6. Below that there will be two line
<ctl name="RX1 Digital Volume" value="84" />
<ctl name="RX2 Digital Volume" value="84" />
7. Change value to higher as per ur needs, i set "90"
8. Now save that file and Reboot your Phone.
Alternatively,
Copy that file "mixer_paths_3_2_forte" to pc,
Edit with Notepad++
Replace again in "system/etc" by overwriting old one
Or,
I have attached Edited file which is set to "value=90"
Just download and replace it.
You can change other values like speaker and other anc-headphone or earpiece volume also.
I really don't what other files regardless of "mixer_paths_3_2_forte" of same name do.
Enjoy.
BEFORE YOU REBOOT YOUR PHONE MAKE SURE THAT FILE HAS PROPER PERMISSION "rw-r-r", ELSE YOU WILL END UP WITH BOOTLOOP
I found this method at http://www.miui.com/thread-1836269-1-1.html.
All credits goes to original OP of that Thread.
Not works on latest firmware, Can some one post original file of it.
This works fine, been using it since I got my Mi3 around the start of the year. I also change the the hphl and hphr volume from between 35-50 and change the TI PA Gain value from between 30-50 anymore and in will sound awful. But that will increase the volume a notable amount.
Thanks for that, works OK for me!
How to increase microphone volume in calls?
No sound for I've done this mod.
I've tried to edit file manually and set the value to 90.
When I restart "no volume" and the settings > sound application is crashing.
I've tried to copy and paste your file too and same thing.
Finally I tried to restore the file "source copy & source paste" and same error occur.
Is this an encoding problem ?
I do not know how to restore the original file and I have no more sound at all on my Xiaomi .
I am using the dev rom (build number : KTU84P).

Check the permission is properly set for the file, it should be rw-r-r
I checked it already but something appear to be strange with perms on xiaomi mi3.
I see rw-r-r but when I try to edit the file it tells me that "file is read-only. Do I want to set it read/write to edit".
I reply all, set my update 84 => 90 then save and exit.
Reboot ... no sound and Settings => Sounds is crashing.
I did not try furthermore and I flashed it my MI3 with the new dev rom.
Sound back and I did not try to modify the file again.
By the way thanks for your help.
please can you write what i need to change to increase speaker soung. (ringtone, music or everything via speaker)
What should be edited in the file to increase in-call volume? TIA!
Can you increase music volume similarly ?

Also you can use ViPER4Android to do this and also change a lot of different setting to improve audio quality.
I don't if it works with call volume though.

[GUIDE][ROOT] Increase the Headset Volume

Hello,
As you may know, the EU limits the Musicvolume your phone can put out. For some people like me, it is just too low, i can hear traffic when i listen to music even with decent in-ears.
However, thanks to @Paolo83 there is a solution to this problem.
What you need:
P9 Lite on B370/B380
Root and an Root File explorer.
Note: Single sim devices are Venus, Dualsim devices are Venus2.
Sidenote: Venus and Venus2 are Huaweis company internal codenames for single and dualsim VNS-L21 and L31 if you didnt knew.
Step 1: Navigate to /product/etc/audio/hi6402mixer_volumes###
Step 2: Search for the file " mixer_volumes_VENUS_ce" file on singlesim devices, and for " mixer_volumes_VENUS2_ce" on dualsim devices.
Step 3: Open the file in an text editor, and search for this part
Code:
<path name="media-headphone" >
<ctl name="S1 IL PGA GAIN" value="0" />
<ctl name="S1 IR PGA GAIN" value="0" />
<ctl name="HPL PGA GAIN" value="10" />
<ctl name="HPR PGA GAIN" value="10" />
</path>
Change the values of "HPL PGA GAIN" and HPR PGA GAIN" from 10 to 28 and save.
Note: You dont have to use the 28 value. If 28 is too loud for you just use a lower value like 15.
Step 4: Reboot and thats it!
Warning: Values above 20 are EXTREMELY, INSANELY loud, do not hear music at max volume for extended periods of time.

Again, i am sorry i couldnt give credit where credit is due earlier.

thank you !!
Pretty neat trick, thank you very much for sharing it.
Though I want to point out that despite my device being the dual sim variant, the trick didn't work until I changed mixer_volumes_VENUS_ce too, so I'm not sure about the Venus and Venus2 thing, but correct me if I'm wrong.
Also there are these files in other folders inside product/etc that has files ending with Venus3 and there is no 3 sim variant?
Thank you.
Sorry but this trick Is mine... I wrote It a few months ago. The value 28 Is my magic number .
I wrote It here and It an italian forum.
copy the work of others and take the merits... Wow

Well, I messed up.
I used QuickEdit Text Editor to open and edit these files (I edited VENUS and VENUS2, just to be sure) and now my device won't play any audio.
I did not backup the original files so now I have to restore TWRP backup.
What I did and what was probably the issue is that I saved these two files on my SD-card with QuickEdit Text Editor and then pasted them back to their place. Maybe that text editor messed up some encoding, I don't know...
Any ideas?
