I've had the Note 4 for a few months now and I have been thinking about rooting. Is there any kind of performance improvement with any of the Touch wiz roms? What features will be unavailable if I root? Marshmallow is supposed to be out soon, so should I wait for the update or root before?

A new kernel will give you better performance and battery.
Once marshmallow comes out you can always odin the firmware or go back to stock and take the ota

What method do I use to root? I have DOK2 and found this http://galaxynote4root.com/galaxy-note-4-root/how-to-root-galaxy-note-4note-edge-on-android-5-1-1/ I see other ways on the forums but those say systemless root and I see that it causes a lot of problems

Will this root the phone fully even though I'm on dok2? I thought dok2 could only do systemless root at this point

So for DOK2 on N910T I use second link, download the latest cf auto root for my phone and twrp. I see there's a kernel download there too, do I download that too? When flashing through Odin do I auto root first or twrp?

what is the proper way to root an OTA lollipop note 4. I am hearing it might brick your phone when you use this method http://forum.xda-developers.com/not...sy-steps-stock-odin-n910tuvu1anih-cf-t2903733. What about this one from Jovy http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=56226823&postcount=2 maybe there is a better one. thanks

So I got the SM-910t3 fro T-mobile. I followed TEKHD's guide on how to root it and all. Are the roms for the N910T compatible with the N910T3? I had tried to flash TEKXodus N4 5.1.1 URv1 (USA-N910T /T3) on my n910t3 but it resulted in a fail in TWRP, and did not allow me to restore my back ups . I ended up having to use Samsung kies 3 to get my phone working again. I was wondering if anybody else with a n910t3 had been able to install a different rom. Any help would be cool.
This is also my first post on this amazing forum
Great question! I'm confused as well

Go there and download the version I posted of TEKXodus. I changed a few things in the script

That rom is 100% identical to the OP, the only difference is I changed the updater script to match the N910T3. As far as the kernel, check the op.

Did you just install the rom or did you have to install any other files to get this working on N910T3? Thanks.

Dear @denson9874 even 3.10.7 didn't worked for me because i was not able to uncheck "Reactivation Lock" so i downgraded my firmware from 5.0.1 Lollipop to 4.4.4 Kitkat and boom i was able to uncheck my "Reactivation Lock". ROOT DONE :victory:
Glad you got it working!!!

I've not had much time lately to do proper research or trial-and-error on this topic (especially since this is for a friend). I was wondering if it is at all possible to root the SM-G920A on 6.0.1 G920AUCU3PD6? I've checked out the other threads and they are all about updating or there's that one about flashing the Verizon stock. But nothing about just achieving root on this update.
Thanks in advance if I don't get back to the replies quickly!
Not yet to my knowledge.

Dang, lol I'm in the same situation, if you used odin all you would have to do is find the tar file :/
if the tethered root can be ported to 6.0.1 we might have something

There's nothing to port. We need an engineering kernel to leak as it did for Lollipop.

I'm trying to upgrade my buddie's phone here. Not very familiar with the s5 community and what's available..
Can this phone be rooted, TWRP'd, and flashed to nougat or marshmallow officially or otherwise?
Please help, any advice is appreciated.. Thanks
Depends on what version of android you have now if it can be rooted. If you have lollipop or marshmallow, then no, there is no root. Marshmallow is available via ota update.

Yea it's on 5.0... I'll have to get his at&t sim and try to update it via OTA.
Thanks for replying.
Edit: Will this work?
http://www.samsungsfour.com/tutorials/how-to-root-samsung-galaxy-s5-sm-g900a-for-at-t.html
Also, is root even needed for flashing custom ROMs?

Those instructions are for KitKat, it was patched in Lollipop.
Give me the baseband version of your phone (in settings, looks something like G900AUCU4BOF3)

As of now all you can try is Kingroot, which may or may not work (haven't tested it). Let's see if we can get as far as root and then we'll go into ROMing

NO DON'T!! YOU WILL BLOW A QFUSE AND THE PHONE WILL NEVER EVER BE ROOTABLE!
Your best bet is to wait for an iovyroot build and try that

Well my buddy will accept leaving his phone on official lollipop, but would at least like all the att apps removed...
Can I uninstall these apps rather than disable them? No root = no titanium backup [emoji52]
