Developers ... Inquire about cooking rom
Hello all!
I have several questions about cooking
- I want the software used for cooking
- I want an explanation of the cooking
- I want the program to modify the programs Android apk
- I want an explanation of the work and bootanimation.zip amendment to the Theme and modify the file framework-res.apk
I am waiting for your answers and thank you in advance .....
where are you ?????!!!
I need help immediately please ....!!!!
I think people people felt that your tone was a bit brusque and demanding, and that you were requesting far too much from strangers on a volunteer forum. In English using WANT like that is a bit rude, and saying "thanks in advance" at the end doesn't help much.
If you are serious about learning how to cook ROMs, no one can walk you through some magic formula step by step. You say you need immediate help, but the process of learning can't be rushed. You need to educate yourself. Google is your friend, use it and read and learn. Then start to experiment for yourself. There is no other good way to do it.
Good luck.

Thank you for such wonderful support
You are one of the biggest forums on the development did not answer at all but silly words
Greetings to you all
Dear Friend what you request does not have any answer because it is not a step by step process or can not be included in a post or maybe two.no one has the time to answer it either.
but just for the beggining you may start with apktool or smali / baksmali to learn how to compile and decompile apk files and jar files. these are the key files for now you may google it to proceed. sure it will take a few weeks at least to learn some about these keywords and their functions
following are some of the guides and videos which lets u have the rough idea on compiling a ROM.
ok....am posting "some" of them. the comprehensive and important ones
first of all, find the github for the black.
check dis out fr an idea of compiling...http://www.freeyourandroid.com/guide/compile-ics. this is sheyen's guide. hez 1 f da best
check dis guide about compiling ICS on Ubuntu: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1354865
and dis one for compiling GB: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1183832 both of them are by dastin
take a look at this awesome porting guide by siulmagic (he was the 1 who ported ICS to the prehistoric G1 http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1312595
this1 is also real comprehensive and good:http://www.mydroidworld.com/forums/h...ad-source.html
now, u can check dis 1 out: http://www.tabletroms.com/forums/ada...le-source.html this 1 is also elaborate guide for compiling on a VM.
AND the BEST OF ALL:CHECK these videos
i. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1_H4AlQaNa0
ii.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rFqEL...feature=relmfu
last of all, with some knowledge already, check out this guide for minor tweaking, error fixing and a layman's experience sharing while compiling from source.
http://journal.tianhao.info/2010/12/...-ubuntu-10-10/
for kernel compiling guide check dis 1 out:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1227241
the ones mentioned are a mere starting guide. dig google, the android source guide, etc etc for more knowledge. it is not that u have 2 be a pro in command terminal f linux/ubuntu,but it is expected u have some idea of it.
u will not become a DEV by taking these in.the DEVs are very knowledgeable and have very deep programming knowledge. this is just a guide for a person to start with. u will get an idea of the whole programming.
now, this is just a starting guide. u will need 3 things for common
a)a linux machine (may be a VM), but be sure to have ubuntu x64 and preferably 10.04 or higher.
b)some knowledge about building that u can get an idea of by reading nd viewing the source that i gave (obviously along with your own research)
c)TIME.
happy trying
there are many knowledgeable members on our forum, drop thema PM if u are stuck. they might help you out
none of them are written by me, but are collected from the internet into one place for those who want to know about compiling.
IF FIND ANY WRONG INFORMATION, OR A GOO GUIDE TO FOLLOW, POST OT IN THIS THREAD. IT MIGHT HELP SOMEONE WHO IS WILLING TO LEARN BUT IS LACKING A STARTING POINT.

I am looking to learn to develop for this phone. After so many people have left we are in desperate need.
I have experience coding on PC and light experience on WINMO 6....
I am reaching out to the community for resources on how to learn to develop for the Vivid. Any Direction will be appreciated.
I would also be willing to learn to develop for this phone. I'm a computer science student at MIT and have coding experience, but have not done anything related to Android so I'm not sure where to begin.

You can try this kitchen. It kind of works if you start from custom Rom as base.
At least gives you idea of what you have to do. You can than develop more depending on how good ur Unix or scripting skil are

WARNING: If your HTC device is not listed below, and it does NOT use a 'YAFFS'-based filesystem (e.g. usually the mid-range and high-end devices don't use YAFFS), do not attempt to flash a ROM that you built with this kitchen. Instead, you must do the following if your device is NOT listed:
Create a file under the kitchen's /tools/edify_defs folder, with the name being the same as the value of ro.product.device (found in your device's /system/build.prop file).
See the template file in the edify_defs folder to see how to set the mount points inside the file you created. Look at the other files in that folder for examples on how to do it.

Since the Vivid is not listed as one of the compatible devices, do we need to do this? I saw the Rezound on there is why I am asking
I too am going to give it a stab. I have experience working with Cyanogenmod as well as a ton of C/C++/Unix/Scripting/Driver experience. Lets see what we can make.
I used it and there is nothing device specific stuff that should matter

True platform development resources are slim right now...
Read this website http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/index.html for a decent but outdated overview of platform development and bring-up.
Check this post from Cyanogen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6243873
At the bare minimum do what WC said but I don't recommend you use someone else's custom ROM as your base for a multitude of reasons. If for no other reason, you'll inherit any flaws they may have unknowingly introduced and you won't understand the changes they implemented to make the improvements they made.
I'm a little rusty, but my team and I develop on the HTC Dream/Magic. I own about 6 devices right now and just gave away 3 others to a developer on my team. It's kind of funny, even though I've owned all these devices, I've never really developed on any of them since there's always so many other people already doing so.
But since everyone left and there's no competition right now, I think I might start developing again, I just need to know what you guys want and I'll see what I can do.

I'd love to see some new guys giving it a try. I wish I could invest the time and had the knowledge to do it myself.
I think most are just looking for a good solid ICS rom, with Tethering working... anything else would pretty much be a bonus. I think "MOST" would be appreciative of pretty much anything at this point

He was making a point to not use someone's custom rom
Sent from my HTC PH39100 using xda premium
If that's the case, than from my experience it is a bit harder for someone with no knowledge to start with stock ROM. Out of the box the kitchen did not work very well with any stock ROM. It was easier to tweak a custom rom because the DEV had fixed the issues which I don't know if every one can solve. e.g some may just struggle to get system.img to work in this kitchen , again that can be trivial for some to fix and some noob's may find it hard.

It's all trial and error my friend. Later tonight when class is over I'll try to create a rom from the Telstra 3.5 RUU. I tried the ICS stock rom, but I wasn't able to deodex about 50 or so files. Hopefully this time around the process will go smoother.

Thats not learning then, thats taking someone elses work, start as everyone else did, everything is out there to be [email protected] all have to learn somehow, but the way your saying isnt the correct way to learn...its called kanging, then tweaking something here and there and calling it your own creation....truely learn something and start from scratch,we all did,so why would you expect it should be easier for you?

As far as resources go, download the kitchen, and DO NOT use it, rather analyze how it works. Look over the scripts and see why it does what it does, if you don't understand something, google it.
That'll help some of the beginners here.

I wouldn't consider that development and the OP asked for development advice. My previous post provides ample information to "do it the right way", team that with extracting your source from RUUs and you've just become a real dev. You will possess the necessary knowledge and tools to create your own ROM.
Then after you create your ROM if you still have problems that another dev has resolved you can respectfully contact that dev for guidance on what they did to resolve it.
That's the way I would want someone to use my work anyway.
Read this website http://www.kandroid.org/online-pdk/guide/index.html for a decent but outdated overview of platform development and bring-up.
Check this post from Cyanogen http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=6243873
Use the aforementioned kitchen to extract "stock" carrier base ROMS if you choose not to build from source.
Hello devs! im trying to port a rom from the infuse, the zeus rom.i do not have permissions from the dev of the rom to port it so its only for personal use and for any one who can help port the rom. Unless dman the dev asks me to release publicly for the device. I googled how to do it follow step by step instructions and tried a few different base roms but i cant get it to boot(stays on i9000 screen) Ive tried to figure oet how to modify the updater script and whatnot but im kinda new to coding(I think this is where my problem is is in the script). right now its a learning process for me, I got a pretty good learning curve so i can catch on really quick. I really like the rom so i relly want to do it. I already sent dman a message asking for his expertice cause he built it so we might also get his help with the project. any help is great and you will be mentioned if it ever goes public.
Thanks!
bump cause i really want to use this rom
We all bought our devices for one reason or another but have came to XDA with the intention of making them better and some of us have done much more than try to fix tiny issues. I want to thank all who have and are developing Custom Roms for our device. If I have missed anyone who has contributed I compel you to write his name so I could add him along with a link if any! We should all know how hard it is to code. For some it's easy but for the most part it's hard work and people tend to forget that. I myself have started learning Python thanks to these people and a fairly recent show named Silicon Valley from cough* cough* 2014. So without further ado! Here are the people I want to thank and you could thank too if you haven't already in one way or another:

Also I'd like to thank the Mate 7 developer who I couldn't catch his name again for helping with the RIL issues. If he is the person I think he is then he should be @gabry3795 with his process right here:

As you also might've noticed, our developers could use help and as somebody who is helpless in coding I feel the need to at least ask around if somebody is capable to help if needed. I am not forcing anyone I just ask politely.

It looks pretty fine, the name of the MT7 developer is correct. About the help, the help We need comes from China and doesn't want to know anything about us. Thank you for mentioning him and for making me interested in Python. If you're wondering how. You once said you're a C++ dev and I know a little of a similar language named C# but in order to understand more of these two languages I needed Python. And so swish swosh >>
Actually, you should thank for RIL @codeworkx who was developing CM for Honor 6, @gabry3795 just took his code from H6 device tree.
You should include sokoban too for making deodex rom for this phone.

Hello, sokkoban.
I've installed your B574 Deodexed and I have two suggestions for your future version of ROM:
1) Implement multi window directly inti ROM. It's a feature many people want and also people are having issues with your rom when using multi window.
2) Auto hide navigation bar. There is a button but it's very annoying to press every time you go into an app.
And I have one question:
3) Are you only going to make ROMs based on Chinese ROM or you will also make European ones?

@Prostokuche Thank you for this mention, I am proud to contribute to this project. After all we are all fighting the same battle And yes, I started the petition about a year ago forcing huawei to release the sources needed for a custom ROM (Mate7 scenario is worse than the p8 one )
I also want to point out that the HuaweiRIL.java module belongs to cyanogenmod project as stated in the license header. My edit on RIL project are signed by me and those to the HuaweiRIL.java was just to exclude features that are not supported by Mate7. :highfive:
I hope you can release a fully working ROM for your device! Good luck!
