How can I disable the text preview of a notification which appears in the status bar. I do not want to disable the notifications, I want them to appear in the notification drawer. I want to disable the text but keep the icon.
Ideally when Titanium backup wants to display a notification, only the icon would appear in the status bar, no text. I am looking for a way to disable this globally for all apps.
I am running CM11 / 4.4.4. Any ideas? All I can find is how to disable this for the messaging app only.

Thanks!
Found a way. NotifyClean can do this.
Root required. Can disable on a per app basis.

Im trying to figure out how to change this, but Im not able to find it. It does not appear to drawable-hdpi and I opened all of the XMLs in layout that have status bar in the name, but nothing shows the gray color that the bar is now. Where is the code/picture to change this. I would like to change it from gray to black.
I attached a picture. I want to change the bar color that says Ongoing and Notifications. Im not sure if its one bar, or if there is a sepparate one for Ongoing, Notificatios, and No Notifications.
Thanks

How do you take this green battery icon off as I got the percentage bar on with the new version of Android and there's no need to display both.

You need to install xposed framework, download the sense 5 toolkit, and find the module that alters (and disables) the battery icon in the statusbar. You'll need to be rooted for it to work. Other than that, you can get into settings and disable the percentage and use the icon as well.
Find out which app that icon is coming from. Once you find it disable the notification from the "App" tab in your phone's setting
Thought it might be easy just to unclick something
I de-compiled the SystemUI.apk file on 5.1 rom. I am trying to find the Conneceted as Media Device notification in Notification, so I can disable the notification. Does anybody know were it is to disable it?
This is what I am looking for,

I would like to be able to hide the notification with out disabling it.

I'm just guessing here, but although SystemUI controls notification display, I would expect the notification for that itself would be controlled by the frameworks.
What you could do is trace it back using Android Hierarchy viewer
I posted this in the bxActions thread but I figured it's also suited for this forum.
As you can see in the first picture Bixby voice has 3 greyed out notification toggles that you cannot toggle off. You can minimize how intrusive they are but you can never get rid of something like Bixby bugging you to upgrade the version and creating notifications in your notification bar.

You also can't get rid of it by de-toggling it in the notification bar.
It would be great to have all the notifications off but not disable Bixby so bxActions can still work properly.
Is there any ADB command that would be suited for this? Or some other workaround?
Been using this for a while solely for that very reason:

I'm not sure if this issue I'm experiencing is due to Pie update or not hence why I'm asking.
Basically when I change my notification for each person or group to silent and minimized or just silent they revert back randomly to default values again.

WhatsApp on Androi Pie has same problem
Same with WhatsApp, I changed the setting for all notification to "silent and minimized" but it just reverts back to "sound". When I turn off all notifications and keep only the App Icon Badges to ON - then badges are not shown. So have to live with notifications in the bar if I want to just glance if I have new messages using app icons. ( Samsung Note 8 with Pie)
