SM-N9208 and other Dual-sim variants Marshmallow Update - Galaxy Note5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I Don't want to be a tease like the SM-N920i thread but I guess it will always be clickbait. I think there's a lot of people here who are waiting for Marshmallow on their Note 5 especially on a dual-sim variant. Anybody got any news?

The guys with the standard N920 have gone MM and then gone back to a quality 5.1..1 like Dr Ketan's largely because of poor battery life.
Wait till it is a 6.1.1 bug fixed version I reckon

Samsung just focus on single sim variant to do some PR on it. Dual Sim variant have to wait about 3-5months. I face this problem with Note 3 Duos and Note 4 Duos.

Waiting for 3-4 months is just pathetic... I would change the phone then.!

i've been waiting so patiently and i lost hope. so i'm changing my dual to single sim variant with no extra cost. also i heard that MM will be out by 27th of april

Looking for Note 5 Duos, opinion needed

I'm looking into buying a Note 5 duos since I have 2 lines and it would be convenient to have them both in one phone even though they can't both be on 3G voice at once. My question is which model Duos should I buy? For updates, rooting and stuff like that. I see there's a N9200, N9208 and N920. Which one should I choose? Yes, the cheapest one is preferable lol

I would suggest a n920C dual sim aka N920CD I bought in middle east and its working without a problem here in Germany. Thats my suggestion because its an international model like "I" variant but with dual sim support. If you're a fan of new software and roms you can always use roms from "I", "G" and of course "C" variants on your "CD" without a problem, but keep that in mind that you have dual sim support as long as you use a C based kernel and a dual sim supporting rom.
SO basically take whatever is cheaper they will work the same. Is there a chance that one model's bootloader will be unlocked than another?
I got N9200 (HK) in Japan and It's working great. :good:
All duos are same except price and region, n9208 have more users and custom roms like dr ketan and ioio rom
From what I see on ebay, the N9200 is a bit more expensive that's why I'm wondering why that is...do we know what exact LTE bands the N9208 supports?
N9208 has good developer support and 64gb version is fairly cheap. Work great here in UK on 3 and Vodafone.
I use galaxy note 5 N9208 Malaysia! There is little kernel and rom for it too!

Root, Snapdragons and Exynos.

Hello All.
I hope this thread will help myself and others in a similar situation.
I went to extreme lengths and procured myself a N950N (SK Telekom Version) to be able to have TWRP and root and all that good stuff.
Problem was using that device on T-Mobile USA left me handicapped in terms of cell quality, LTE speeds etc.
I wasn't the only one either, a lot of folks who bought the F or N versions weren't getting the same Carrier Aggregation combinations or band\frequency usage that the US versions were accustomed to.
Should we expect the same moving forward with the Note 9 Exynos version?
If so, then the obvious inquiry will be related towards snapdragon -, it was months before samfail ever hit SD835 samsung devices, and even then it was handicapped until 10 months after release where it got slightly better.
IS the situation going to remain the same ? What are the developments on the S9\s9+ snapdragon in that aspect?
Just trying to make the right decisions as root is non negotiable for me... and i'm certain it is for many others..
and most importantly, will we have the OEM unlock issue if we buy the int'l model?

Yes of course it will.
Much better than having a locked BL and never having root, the snap s9 still has nothing and its been out since April.
OP i would look into the HK or latin America snapdragon versions, they are not locked and would likely have similar frequencies

I purchased my S8, Note 8 and S9 Plus from CLOVE in the UK - (the F varient) and I NEVER had OEM Unlock issues in any of those devices. Never. I purchsed my Note 9 from CLove on the 9th - and look forward to getting it when it ships later this month.
To be honest, I don't know why some people have OEM Unlock issues for devices they buy on EBAR or other places and why I never have for the Samsung Devices I purchased at CLOVE - but it's enough that I will always buy new Samsung phones from CLOVE to help avoid having to deal with that.

Dual sim for everyone?

Hey boys, I'm from Sydney and ordered my phone through Telstra
I later find out that Samsung will sell dual sim version through normal shops and single sim with all operators ( vodafone, telstra etc )
now that's my question.
will I be able to use dual sim if I buy a sim tray which allows 2 sim and flashing a firmware from dual sim version or the dual sim version has a different hardware too?
thanks

You should open a thread on it for sure. I know with the S9 and S9+ they just had to flash the Puerto Rico firmware to get signal. I'm definitely trying it when the firmware is released. Maybe the shipping firmware will work out of the box this time though.

From what is known, there will be no beta for the note 9. There is a leaked firmware/ROM beta, but it's for snapdragon variant. You will have to count on the other reasons you get the phone and wait till January for that one.
