Hello guys,
I have a big problem!
which is that my power button not work...
and I don't have any problem with it because I use trackball to unlock my phone .. and using (quick boot) for rebooting...
BUT,,, Yesterday I have change my ROM to (ICS) which is sdk version, and I know that...
the ICS url:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314781&page=7
whatever,,,, the wifi is not work ! the data(3G) is not work ! the Bluetooth is not work ! so how to enter the recovery mode to return my previous ROM ?!
Help me please!
Any help plzzzzz
just use quick boot but select either recovery or bootloader depending on which option you need
ICS is new enough that I don't know if this will work, but in Gingerbread and lower, you can use adb to do it.
Make sure Settings -> Applications -> Development -> USB Debugging Mode is enabled. Then go to the computer type
Code:
adb reboot recovery

If you're using Quickboot already do what Anthonyh90 stated. Chose Recovery or Bootloader

** sorry for my bad english
This is a long and hard procedure, but should work if you are not able to use adb or if you don't find a better solution. You will have to power on your device using the battery trick one time or two:
Pull out the battery.
Copy the passimg.zip to the root of your sdcard.
Power on the n1 with the battery trick. You have to keep the vol- button pressed while booting.
Install the passimg file
Root your phone (oneclickroot is fine).
Reboot with adb or with battery trick.
Install quickboot and rommanager
Install recovery.
Use quickboot to enter in recovery and restore your backup.
Hope this helps

my phone now is 2.1 !
but I cannot cont. cuz tell now the usb does not known my phone !
is there any way to root the phone without usb ? I mean like installing "passimg.zip"
-Upgrade to 2.2 Froyo
-look for a Z4Root QR Code
-Scan the Z4Root QR code using Google Goggles or w/e
-Install it using astro or a file manager app
-look for Z4root tutorials on youtube
-????
-Profit
You don't need the computer at all but for looking up tutorials IF you are confused that is.
You need to install the phone drivers on your PC, than you can use oneclickroot. Reboot, install quickboot, recovery and you are done ;-)

Hi all
I did not receive the OTA so I decided to manually update my nexus s (I9020XXK1)
Unfortunately the navigation works only on wi-fi. Although the data navigation is turned on the mobile does not download email etc.
I thought it was a problem with widgetsoid and I disinstalled it but the problem is still there.
I also tried to update the APN via "APN Italiani" but the programs shows the generic message that "he encountered an error"
My question: do you have any idea how to work it out? and also: is there a program similar to widgetsoid for a dummy (me)?
thanks a lot

just flash a customer rom like aosp + (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1397358) -> all works
it would be even worst! I already tried but I'm a dummy and couldn't do it
at home I have a mac and could not get a propor procedure. now (at work) I have a pc but no administrator rights.
if there is an easy way to do it then I will give it a try but I would need a "guide for dummies"

You can't boot into ADB mode, it is Download mode. Install Samsung USB drivers and you should get I9070 in Windows Explorer, browse to it and get the stuff you need.

There is no ROM that can be installed with ADB sideload as I know. Anyway you will have to push it to the sd card, and if you can do that you can pull files from it. Boot to recovery and see if you get adb shell for that. Probably USB debugging is not on in system, so you can't do it from there, but you can try. Just set adb enviroment on PC.
Stop all guys!!!!
I have an idea :silly:

I will attach here a file tomorrow, do you know how to flash your device with Odin?
Download Odin 3.07 from internet
Don't delete Kies on PC, otherwise you need to install Samsung drivers
The rest tomorrow.

Cool I had forgotten about ODIN
Just to recap
1) Phone screen is smashed but powers on, i can hear the samsung boot music
2) She must have set a pin lock on the phone cause kies says its locked when i connect
3) USB debugging would not be enabled as she wouldnt be any way tech savvy at all
Am i right in thinking that using ODIN i can flash a stock rom that wouldnt be pin locked and might be able to use kies then to recover files (as stock wouldnt be pin locked?
Cheers,
Mick

You can flash a modified recovery (I'm creating now the file for instant flash through Odin), set up ADB and use ADB commands to save files
Inviato dal mio GT-I9505
So i should be able to
1) Download Odin
2) Reboot phone in ADB mode - pull out battery, replace, hold volume up then power on
3) Run Odin
4) Browse to your file
5) Flash file to phone..
6) then?

Then you will be able to use ADB. One correction for 2) it is Download mode, enter there with volume down+home(hardware one at the front of the phone)+power.
After that you will get storages in Windows explorer, or if you not - you can use this ADB plugin with Total commander: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2105707

You said that you have Kies installed, so USB drivers are installed.
1- Download CWM_Odin.tar.md5.zip from attachments and unpack it. You will get .tar.md5 file, don't change extension, download ADB.zip too and unpack in your desktop
2- Open Odin program
3- Power on your phone pressing and keeping pressed: Vol down+Home+Power then you should feel a vibration
4- Now press Vol up key and connect your device to PC
5- Odin should recognize your device as "COM" and a number, then you load CWM_Odin.tar.md5 in PDA button
6- Press "Start" and when finished disconnect device from PC
7- Take off battery then reinsert and press (always keeping pressed) Vol up+Home+Power and release Power key only when you feel a vibration
8- Connect device to PC, then open CMD.exe on Windows and navigate to your desktop folder (C:\Users\YOURACCOUNTNAME\Desktop\ADB on Windows Vista/7/8/8.1) and type:
Code:
adb devices (to be sure that device is recognized, you should have numbers/letters followed by [B]device[/B])
adb pull /storage/sdcard0
Wait the end of the process, then you will have personal data (music, photos, videos, downloaded files....) inside ADB folder
When i load the md5 file with PDA button it says MD5 has value is invalid?

Make sure the drivers are installed correctly and reboot your PC. I've just tried it and everything work just fine on my PC.

Make sure your drivers are installed correctly as shown above. When in edl mode the drivers are different than fastboot. Try reinstall the application with right click and ‘run as administrator’.
Do you know how to relock the bootloader?

It seems that there is something wrong with the drivers, or maybe the adb installation. Try to find other fastboot.exe and adb.exe then delete all duplicates except for "C:\adb", and don't forget to restart your PC.

This should do it but, I'm not sure if this is going to work on a rooted device.
Code:
fastboot flashing lock_critical
fastboot flashing lock
