I'll be grabbing this!

While this isn't a bad app at all, it needs more features. Dev posted this up in the 6p threads and I bought it. Works but I still get peeking whereas the description says otherwise. Might just be conflicting with something I have installed. Anyways, I researched other fingerprint locks after buying this and the few that are out there have way more options. Dev stated more features are on the way. I'm still waiting for those features.
That said, the way he made this app work, seems better than the others. If he would add those extras, this would be the number one fingerprint locking app on the app store by far.
My advise to the developer is... keep working on this and get it feature rich before the store is flooded with these lock apps. There are many out that are missing the fingerprint side of things. When/if they update to include this sensor, your going to have competition.
Guys please check the update , its awesome
Bought pro and LOVE it! Thank you so much!

Bought PRO, works as expected, thanks !
just bought it without even trying. price is fair too.
@mianharisali
What is this fake crash screen about?
If I activate this, it just locks the app permanently and I have to open your app Locker to unlock the app? Then I'm able to start the app and have to lock it again, after I used it? Is this supposed to be?
If I understand this right, the fake crash screen prevents everyone from accessing the app until unlock through your app. But then you have to relock it again after.
So there are 2 possible scenarios, that I'd prefer, because for now, this option is useless to me.
First, if you activate your fake crash screen, it should be possible to blind unlock through fingerprint while the fake screen is up or click Okey to close the app.
Second, if fake lock screen is set, app shouldn't be accessable through the normal app drawer(or homescreen) but trough your app itself. Maybe if you click on the name of the app on the left side of the app list.
Beside this, great app and keep developing!

The dev has released more updates, currently on version 0.6. Check it out, the app got a whole lot cooler, and is in pretty active development now!
There's a dev in the I9000 forums working on using the AMOLED screen to display notifications. Currently it's displayed as a red dot in the top left corner of the screen. It's in an early stage, but it works on my Captivate.
Read the thread here for more info:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=730692
The dev is apparently going on vacation soon, and won't be working on it for a while, so any potential developers here that know how to implement something like this, take note!
Edit: I don't take responsibility for the work on this app at all; just posting here because it works on the Captivate and is an awesome idea.
Sweet this is something exactly what I was looking for!
Hope he can make use of the bottom 4 buttons or something.
Edit: I just read there are no API's to light up the capacitive buttons
But the project so far looks amazing. I'll have to give it a run when I get off of work.
works! sideloaded this thing right into my Captivate easier than rooting (and that was possibly the easiest thing I've done customizing a phone in the past!)
thanks! was definitely missing my notification LED from my last two WinMo phones....
I have got to find out how to side load apps.
Install the Android sdk, add the tools directory to the system PATH, install Samsung drivers to your computer if its 64 bit Windows you need 64 bit drivers, open a command prompt, type "adb install blahblah.apk"... that's pretty much it... obviously your current working directory needs to be the same as the apk file.

yeah, that's what I used alright..... WAY too simple to use, I mean, it isn't drag and drop to a CAB folder like WinMo, but this thing installs the program for you, making it just that much easier to use!
Wow I'm going to have to try that way installer thing since I'm not rooted

Works for my on my captivate. Thanks for the great work OP!
how does this app affect battery life?
the developer said that since it doesn't use any timers within the cpu, it is very VERY minimal on battery.
It worked for me with an SMS, (I use Handcent) but it didn't work for an email. (K9-mail)
I had to remove it because it wasn't letting me go to my screen our unlock my phone

The screen is already on so you have to press the Home button.
it was not working correctly every time. It would render the touch screen useless until I locked and unlocked it a few times.

Well, it's still better than nothing. The app is still very much a work-in-progress, and hopefully the dev makes some good progress on it soon.
I've been trying to learn how to write Android apps, since the dev won't be around for a while to work on it, but all I've accomplished is realizing how incompetent I am in Java, heh.
When i first saw this app the word pixel burnout came to mind. But the dev says the red square moves around on the screen to prevent that so it might just end up being useful. I think samsung and google need to give us an api to use the menu keys since they didn't provide us with a notification light.

Oh I agree, it is a work in progress. It was an awesome idea, but I was close to some battery pulls because I couldn't get the touch screen to work.
I wonder about all the complaints regarding a notification LED, since Samsung gave us 384,000 LEDs to play with.
Ever wanted to know who has tried snooping into your phone while you were away. Your friends or family member might have tried to unlock your phone while you are away. HiddenEye is a simple app with no frills that will photograph the person when they try to unlock your phone. You can set it to sound alarm when a user tries to unlock your phone without your knowledge.
Now you can see who is trying to use your phone while you are away. Once you unlock your phone, you will be shown the photographs of the people who tried unlocking your phone in your absence. Sounds interesting ! Try it and let us know if you have any suggestion to improve it further.
Worried that your phone does not have front camera. With HiddenEye, now you can know the someone has tried to snoop into your phone. You can also set alarm if someone is trying to unlock your phone with wrong password. If you have a front camera, then you can see who tried unlocking your phone.

With screen lock disabled (no password/pin/pattern/face), I find that slide to unlock does not work. What I mean is that a simple touch (anywhere), unlocks the device.
Is this normal behaviour ?
Thats is wierd, you should still need to slide somewhere ... can u post a quick video ?
You sure you're not sliding somewhere? You don't have to slide from the lock, you can pull up from the middle left of the screen or wherever you please..
This does sound odd if you're just tapping . Like the v-b-n said, is there a chance you can post a video?

Is there any specific parts of my phone you want to see or just the unlock bit ?

I can't seem to find any option that disables slide to unlock, so at this point, no.. Just go ahead and demonstrate the touch to unlock if it unlocks, i dont know what to tell you to be honest :s looks like a defect

I'm pretty sure I noticed this before on stock, I am running a custom kernel and ROM. ARHD 7.3 and faux123 kernel. I don't necessarily want to revert back just to confirm it.

That's what it was. I had Tasker and Pebble enabled in the accessibility section. Disabling those, gave me proper slide to unlock. But that's dumb, because now Tasker and Pebble won't work properly (especially Pebble).
but that did solve it.
Thanks samflorin!

What exactly are you using Tasker for? I have Tasker enabled, but the Tasker JB option is disabled. Tasker is working properly in my case

I believe Tasker needs accessiblity for access app information like K9 mail. I can probably live without that, but Pebble notifications, that's hard to ignore because the watch itself is useless without it.

Quite interesting... Odd to see Pebble breaking it..
I'd rather live with tap to unlock than without Pebble.
Maybe try widgetlocker or try go locker with some kind of sense theme.
No need for root. Won't be as seamless, might take up more battery, but you get proper functionality
A little off topic, what do you think of Pebble?
Personally, I think the functionality on paper is pretty good, but i dont see myself wearing it because of the looks (i like more circular, military style, all black, discrete stealth watches)..
And then just wait for HTC or Pebble dw

The watch is good. It's my third smart watch. I have a MetaWatch digital and Analog as well. For a more elegant look, I prefer the Metawatch analog, but for a day to day @ work and stuff, the pebble is great. I hardly use my Metawatch digital. The pebble feels very...plastic. Not very good build quality if im being honest, but Metawatch...amazing build quality. Feels proper.
I found a work around for it. It requires root access, Tasker and Secure Settings.
What I did was create a Context that is activated when the display is on and then using Secure Settings, disable all Accessibility for all events. As an exit task, I re-enable all my accessibility apps.
Now when i turn on my display, I actually have to slide to unlock.

I'd imagine a lot of people who do gaming would appreciate the extra button. For me, not really an idea, but I'd like to use fingerprint to take pics. This has been done by a dev here, however AFAIK it doesn't work with the stock camera and that limits things.
But sure if I have any ideas I'll let you know.
Edit--ok just off top of my head--maybe a shortcut for call recording, screenshot, sleep, etc.
Not sure if this interests you or you're more of a game developer.

No work in Nexus 6p
Fc on 6p dp4. Sent in-app feedback
I came around this app called Fluid Navigation Gestures.
It's awesome, it needs some permissions to hide the navigation bar that you have to provide through adb commands. The instructions are clear and anyone can do all that.
There are unlimited possibilities for the way you navigate through this app, It's highly customisable. There is also a 1$ optional payment that opens up more customizations.

I think the XDA one is ugly as hell and way less practical. WAY less useful. On this one you can go back by sliding the sides of the screen, like ios

However, I noticed that my A2 is laggy due to framework bug. It's listed under the known issues, and I had to uninstall because of that. Has anyone else faced lag when using it on a mi a2?

Well no lags on my device, and the bug you said is not listed there, maybe it got fixed. Although there is a mention of lag due to accessibility service, but I never experienced it.
Only issue I have is faulty previous app function, at times it tries to open the app I am already in.

Sorry, I meant accessibility. It's been a few weeks already that I tried. Let's see if I'll have this problem again. This app can consistently change the way we use our soft keys phones, and I loved it
Wish Android had the swipe-to-back feature that iOS has had for years, its such a smooth experience.
MIUI has the same gestures OP suggested, but its so unnatural, same goes for these gestures.
Really nice app and "fluid". Been using since day 1 I got a2 lite, as I loved the full screen gesture on MIUI ROM.
Although I recently updated to Pie and this app (and others like this) are causing flickering issues.
EDIT
Turning on "disable HW overlays" in developer options fixes the flickering issue for now.
