Can be patched boot from samsung oreo firmware? It has lz4 extension and sais failed during patching process. Also is it possible to fix RMM state lock without flashing zip fix in twrp?
Hi I this is my first post in xda so pardon me for any mistake.
I am facing some issues while rooting my phone with magisk
I have Micromax q372 unite 3 (2015) running android lollipop v5.0 and I am trying to root with magisk v6.0.
So first I tried to flash magisk zip directly with twrp 3.0.2-0 recovery but it showed an error- unable to unpack boot.img
So I patched boot.img file using magisk manager and then tried flashing it with twrp and my phone went into boot-loop (i was unable to use adb method)
so I renamed patched_boot.img to boot.img and replaced this with an original boot.img file in my firmware and flashed the whole firmware using sp flash tool
and I got into boot-loop again. (I know how to solve boot loop.)
So how to root with magisk now.
- there is no new version of twrp available for my device.
- adb method not working.
- flashing original boot image also not working.
Please help me.
Sorry in advance I'm a noob.
So I unlocked the boot loader with fastboot on my sony xperia z5 compact.
Successfully installed TWRP, but got the image from this thread : https://forum.xda-developers.com/z5-compact/development/twrp-twrp-3-2-1-z5-compact-t3748952
As it seems that z5 is not supported on official twrp page ( https://twrp.me/Devices/Sony/ )
When I try to install mgisk 19/3 .zip via TWRP , it says "unsupported/unknown image format error 1"
I tried to install vai Magisk manager and I get the same error.
So I guess it' s a problem with the TWRP version I'm using ? Is there an alternative installation, or a compatible TWRP for z5 compact ?**Thanks for your help.
Hello,
I've been using magisk for some time now and no problem until now. I recently updated my firmware to the last version and intended to update it and keeping magisk, but it didn't worked.
Every time I would flash magisk to the boot image by any mean, the system would boot and tell me "system was modified : press the nuke button to restore it (you will lose all your data lol)" or womething like that.
I was able to flash the stock update and get my phone working with the last firmware but magisk is not installed. I also installed TWRP without problems (helped me a lot to flash the stock boot.img and restore the phone).
I tried to install magisk using :
- Odin : Modified boot.img using magisk app and repacked as boot.img.lz4 in the AP file (with correct lz4 parameters)
- TWRP : Flashed modified boot.img from earlier
- TWRP : Flashed magisk ZIP directly
- Odin : Flash full AP modified by Magisk app
Every time, I have that black screen that tells me my system will be wiped if I continue. Magisk, Odin or TWRP do not return any error
Feel free to ask for any file or further info and thank you for your help !
Firwmare version is A520FXXUGCTKA_CL19831441_QB36271825_REV00
Magisk app returns :
- Ramdisk YES
- A/B NO
- SAR NO
Did you try after you install the new rom through Odin, then instal Twrp and then in Twrp you Format data(not wipe) then immediately install magisk. If dosen't work try with another firmware.
I never update firmwares if there isn any visible difference. Mostly is always some security fixes which i dont care about.
hey, Im having a different issue where after installing lineage 18.1 on my a5 i flashed the latest magisk but once i got in the phone it cycled into a bootloop and now it's eternally turned off cant even turn it into twrp. any suggestion?
Hello,
I had a lenovo p2 (kuntao) lying around which I recently decided to unlock.
After unlocking I decided to flash lineageOS 18.1 on it. I wiped the phone and flashed lineageOS on it.
My phone was on the latest ota update before (android 7) and I flashed lineageOS 18.1 (android 11) on it.
Then I decided to get magisk for it. I first installed latest magisk app and patched the boot.img which was provided with the lineageOS zip. Then I went into fastboot mode and flashed the patched boot image.
This resulted in the phone bootlooping. I could only see 'lenovo powered by android' screen and it never reached lineageOS loading animation.
After flashing the stock boot image the boot loop was fixed.
While patching I had option to 'preserve force encryption' I tried both the images (on and off) both resulted in bootloop.
I even tried the latest canary build. It had the same issue too.
I've attached the stock boot.img and a patched one.
I've also attached the patch log
I don't know what other info to provide.
Plz help
