My mothers lumia 535 broke down, so I got her a Lumia 550, which is a big dissapointment for her since she's elderly and now the icons/tiles do not discriminate by color as simply as with wm 8.1, nor is de font on the tiles big enough, even on highest setting.
If I could give her the wm 8.1 iconpack again, I think that would help. I haven't found an app so far that can do that.
Also I would much appreciate a way to make the font size on the start screen tiles even bigger.
The Lumia 550 has HD resolution and that's why she can't read the labels anymore. And since everything is blue tiled, that doesn't help.
Anyone has any suggestions ? I would rather have her keep this 4G phone since whatsapp is finaly bearable compared to 3G.
What I have tried already :
- Transparancy of start is 0%
- Show more tiles off, but then that gives me giant tiles and still rather small font labels, so reset to normal view of tiles
- font size text scaling set to the full right (doesn't doe much for the tiles)

Hi,
I'm trying to put a background image of a car on my today screen.
When i put it on its far to close (pic to big). With my old M3100 you could chose how much and where abouts of the jpeg you wanted as background is there anyway to do this on the kaiser?
I've tried changing the resoultion then it works in wide screen but tiles it in normal mode which looks naff.
Any help would be appricaited.

Go to Start | Programs | Pictures & Videos - then find your image you want to use as the background; select Menu | Set as Today Background and you'll get a window showing what part of the image will be used on the today screen - use your stylus to drag the rectangle left or right to suit and then just OK your way back out.....

Thanks, but even if i do that it still tiles or i can only see a small amount of the car.
I have tried numorous resoultions on the jpeg then put it on my phone but still no joy.

Strange....it seems to work for me as long as the image is not stupid-sized (like 1600x1200 off my digital camera ).....
The screen resolution is 240x320 so that should be fine as an image; you may want a 320x320 image so that it works for landscape too, although I think you have to keep the part of the image you want to the left of the 320 pixel width....
Of course, you could always use something like ThemGenCE to make yourself a theme with the picture(s) you want - that should work....your call

Both iOS and Android have this feature for visual impaired users.
All it does is to invert the screen colors in a "global" level.
I really miss it in Windows Phone and I think that a lot of other visual impaired people decline buying a WP to get a iOS or Android device.
Does anyone know if there's an app for that?
I would like to know if you guys can help me with that. I'm willing to hire a developer to create a app if necessary, because the phone without the color inversion app is just a really nice brick ( :

I know about the High Contrast feature, but there are two problems:
1 - It only change the home screen and a few apps. For example: If I'm using Whatsapp, it will not be afected by te high contrast
2 - It doesn't invert the colors, it only uses a different color scheme. For people like me, the high contrast with the screen brightness it's only worst.
So the bottom line is: I really need a "invert colors" app.
Is there a way of increasing the size of the clock and icons on the Nokia N8 glance screen.
I have tried increasing the 'display size' and 'font size' in case this made a difference, but it did not.
I cannot find anything in the system UI tuner either.
Please let me know if anyone can help.

I have 2 question today:
Do you know if it is possible to make TALL tiles?
You can only resize them as "square" (small or big) OR "wide" (as wide as 2 squares). I wanted to know if there is a way (or a app) to add a feature such as resize "tall" (as tall as 2 squares)... actually the best would be to ALSO a second feature whit resize as wide as 3 squares! when Start Screen shows 3 columns ninstead of 2.

The other question. Is it possible to make NON clickable empty Tiles ?!? Some apps allows to make empty transparent tiles, a tap on them brings me to the application itself... quite annoying. A better application like "Start Perfect" makes empty transparent tiles with a link to a black screen... it's better... indeed, but unclickable Tilles would be the definitive solution. :good: . Any idea how to get this ?!

Is there a way to make the fonts smaller? I've adjusted the font scale setting to the lowest under Settings>Display but I'm still finding the fonts quite large compared to the Pixel.
In Gmail in particular I'm only seeing 7 emails per screen

Try lowering minimum width. Enable developer option and scroll down to it, I don't know if you can go below 300dp, that's gonna be very tiny anyways.
I raised the width setting from 384 to 500. That's seems to have worked. Thanks
Go into developer mode then set smallest width DPI to 511 default is 411 bingo looks great now
