Is it possible? There are some information about tasker on pocket cast website but i didnt understand it. Basicly what i want is, when alarm starts to ring, instead of boring alarm sound, i want pocket cast to play most recently (auto) downloaded podcast.
P. S.: i use timely as alarm app.

I don't think Timely has Tasker integration, unfortunately, meaning you can't directly create a context based on when the Alarm fires.
One thing you could do is, when you go to sleep, create a dynamic time context for Tasker based on whenever the next alarm is supposed to go off. Then in the task, you disable alarm volume and start Pocket Casts instead.
Well, i can use another alarm(even stock) but my main problem is, i can't get pocket cast to play recently downloaded podcast.

You can use intents to broadcast the play option with PocketCasts, as described here: http://www.shiftyjelly.com/support/pocketcasts#63
This reddit thread might also help you: https://www.reddit.com/r/TaskerFiles/comments/30hhon/intents_pocket_casts/
thanks for your help. it seems you can't really do much with pocket cast atm :/
Gentle Alarm integrates with Tasker, so you could set a profile that hits play on PocketCasts using the intents above when the main alarm goes off in Gentle Alarm. There is no way that I know of though to select which podcast you want to start besides the one already queued up, unfortunately. Even being able to select playlists would allow you to create an alarm clock playlist, but it can't be done as is.
Thanks for the suggestion, i have never heard about gentle alarm, i will definitely give it a go.

Never really liked Gentle alarm, other alarm apps with tasker integration that I know of in case you want to try other alternatives are AlarmPad and Turbo Alarm
There is an app called AutoShare that has intents for pocket casts for basic functions, or use another called Auto Input to tap on a specific podcast. Neither require root
Thanks, i will check them out too.

i don't know much about writing apps for android or else i would work on this, but when i had winmo there was an app called galarm that allowed the user to set an alarm and rather than just a regular alarm that allows you to just hit snooze you have tho either solve a number of math problems(user sets number to solve) or complete a maze(could drag ball or tilt phone) i really liked this because i can snooze a regular alarm in my sleep but this was a whole lot harder to snooze. the math problems where difficult(using mult, divide, add, subtract) and the mazes where rediculus too. please someone let me know if you could make this app, i would be willing to buy it off the market when finished, but i would prefer not to since the original was free.
i never used this but i want this now. i would gladly pay for an app that does what you described

i can't believe none of you used this before, the math problems were multiple choice so if you suck at math you could guess, but one morning i got mad cause it wanted to know what 45*97 was or some wierd combo like that. certainly made sure i woke up in the morning
ask the Dev :
http://forum.ageye.de/viewforum.php?f=3
doubt that he'd build an Android version from scratch without a device, but might be worth asking.
one of the probs with the Android Market so far is that a lot of devs are just copying the apps made by XDA dev people for WinMo (which are free or donation apps) and selling them on the Droid Market. We need more XDA Devs to get Droid phones, it was more fun seeing apps developing on here over months, before they go on sale or whatever.
Yeah, this is exactly what I suggested on the "Suggest App Idea" thread. I'd be in for a few bucks, even if it was a donation version (with free version).
Yeah, i loved Galarm on my last device... I miss it very much.
I would love to see it on Android but I wouldn't pay for it, since i CAN'T. My G1 dosn't show any paid app to me to buy...
Sry for the bad english

This one just does math problems but it works great for me and I used to sleep through three alarms.
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-av-mac-jiiw.aspx
"Alarmed" does maths questions and anagrams.. There's a free lite version as well.
http://www.androlib.com/android.application.com-heychinaski-alarmed-qzwB.aspx
You might want to check Alarming Alarm Clock its $0.99 in the market and I love it. You can choose between math or a puzzle. Alarmed Alarm Clock is really nice too. If you only need one alarm the free version is great.
i tried klaxon [paid version] which is quite good besides the option to enable puzzles or maths to disable the alarm.
however the snooze function seems not to work: snooze is set to 5 minutes but the alarm only rings on more time 5 ~15 minutes after i hit the snooze button... however snooze is essential for me so my question is:
is there any app, paid or free, which has a working snooze function AND a hard-to-disbale alarm (so you cant easily turn it off while still asleep, like pressing a big button instead of going into menus and ask to quit)?
I have a payed version of Galarm and Gprofile but since I left winmo behind, I can't use them, android version would be mostly welcome.
I love g-alarm and rely on it daily. i currently use winmo, but have a evo4g on order. a g-alarm app is the first app i'm looking to have for android. i wish there was an android version available. i bought the latest version for winmo and never looked back.
Alarmed
you can disable the volume buttons for snooze, Ramped alarm volume, and it works every time i set it..
Try Alarm Clock Plus, it does exactly what you described, its free, and has varying levels of difficulty for the math problems.
Alarm clock plus ftw....****er wakes me up everytime lol
all this apps are nice, but totally far from G-Alarm !
i've got my Desire HD 2 days ago, but actually i can't find nothing that have the same
G-Alarm option
mainly:
1) Random MP3 Player
2) FaceDown to snooze
3) Calculator to turn it off.
Gentle Alarm, actually is the best, it have Random MP3 Player, but you have to create a playlist, 'cause you can't simply select the mp3 from you sdcard
the good things of this application is the profile, so the phone can switch in ariplane mode during the night and switch on after the ring.
still looking for more
Sorry for bumping sort of old thread, but I thought I'd inform people about this http colon //www dot ageye.de/index.php?s=news&id=9. First beta of G-Alarm for Android was released on December 23rd, 2010. Yey for ageye! =)

Hello
I know that thread is quite old and GAlarm is still under development but I'd like to recommend You my version of alarm clock. It's first version so it still lacks some functions available in other alarms, but expect more updates soon .
When it comes to math problem it has three levels: tasks might be "complex" but the result is not too big number. Beside math problem You can solve "citation problem".
You can find application on Android Market: Caynax Alarm Clock.
I am in no way attempting to take credit for this program or any profiles created unless my name is annotated next to a published link. Support these guys buy buying their app(s) as this is a tremendous backend for amazing automation for today and the future.
In an effort to help everyone new to Tasker (and its associated apps like AutoRemote) and its capabilities, I'm starting this thread to list profiles that people are actively using on their gear.
What is Tasker?
Tasker is an application for Android which performs tasks (sets of actions) based on contexts (application, time, date, location, event, gesture) in user-defined profiles or in clickable or timer home screen widgets.
What are some of the things I can use these apps for?
While the number of uses for Tasker is limitless and only supressed by your imagination, here is a list of published tasker profiles that people have created for common yet out of the box thinking type usage: Tasker Profiles
Here are only some of the things you could do with Tasker, it's real power is the flexibility to combine contexts and tasks however you wish.
passcode-lock sensitive applications (e.g. for child safety)
change phone settings by
*application: long screen timeout in a book reader
*time: screen brightness lower in the evening
*location: ringer volume high at the office, turn off ke yguard at home
wake up with a random song from your music collection
Text-to-speech; read out loud: incoming SMS/ phone number, WiFi/Bluetooth status, when it's time for an appointment, when the battery is low etc etc (Android OS 1.6+ only)
launch a music application when your music SD card is inserted, otherwise a file browser
start the day with a particular application showing
change all your home icons and wallpaper every day, or in particular locations
turn the phone upside down to return to the home screen, tilt 90 degrees to the left and back to toggle speakerphone during a call
create a Home widget to
*toggle bluetooth/wifi on/off
*launch wireless settings dialog
*show a menu of tasks to choose
*send an emergency SMS with your GPS location
remap camera etc buttons to other applications, or show a menu of applications and/or actions
zip/unzip application data on the fly when an application is launched/exits
pause music playback while in a particular application, restart on exit
change the Home icon for any application
take a time-lapse photo series (possibly 'secretly')
make a regular backup of a file on the SD card
track your phone location via SMS in case of theft
extend the use of the media button on your headset: take a picture from a distance or go to the previous media track with a long press
record call times and destinations to the SD card
show a popup when an SMS arrives from a particular phone number
setup a birthday SMS to be sent months before it happens so you don't forget
record battery levels over time to a file on SD card
make automatic recordings of what you say during phone calls to SD card
during the night, turn on airplane mode to conserve battery/reduce radiation, but turn it off every 15 minutes to check for SMS/voicemail.
setup a vacation SMS message, with different messages for different callers
launch a music application when headphones are connected

Here's one that I've been using:

Recommended companion app: AutoRemote
What we really need is an update to Tasker to allow exporting...
I would love if this thread develops and thank you for starting it...i am trying to learn how to use tasker to get weather widgets to read weather from stock weather widget.....F0mey said you needed SQlite which i have and tasker...but im lost from there
It has taken me the better part of 4 days to get mine set up for voice automation. I know I've barely gotten started but I can now give a voice command to the gear and have it open Pandora and adjust the volumes on the phone. Then pause Pandora and readjust the volumes with another command. Think entering and exiting your car. Having this core structure in place, I think as I move to a full home automation plan, I will be able to integrate it with no problems.
Tasker, Autovoice, and Autoremote are all required. When I get a little more time, I'll try to decompress all that I learned over these 4 days to create a tutorial.
In the meantime, if you search autovoice and autoremote on Youtube, you can find some great assistance. Armando Ferreira has some great tutorials that really helped me get to where I am (and pushing me to where I want to be).
I was hoping someone can help me with what I am trying to do. First I'll explain what I want and then show screen shots of what I tried. So basically I want my weather info to be set for UCCW widgets and it seems u need tasked and sqlite to do so. And no null has sqlite support so I'll show u what I've done.
I know I'm probably totally off but can anyone tell me if I'm close or help

And thanks for the prop
When I double tap Nova, I use AutoVoice recognised Profile on Gear to send an autoremote message to the phone.
When the phone receives the message, it opens my Spotify playlist, and starts playing,
It also uses intents within Spotify to open the now playing window

Any of you tasker experts know how trigger an event on an incoming call on the Gear? I've tried Event --> phone ringing, and it doesn't seem to trigger anything when I get a call. I was thinking maybe there's a way to do it with Intent Received, but I don't know which intent...
I wanted the gear to play a ringtone once when I receive a call (while the gear is set to 'vibrate')
I can achieve this using Autoremote. The phone ringing event works on the phone itself, so I had Autoremote send a message "RING" to the gear, and the gear received this and played the ringtone... it wasn't really a good way to do it, and wasted battery because I had to keep the Autoremote bluetooth listener on.

I have a simple one for alerting of Whatsapp messages (got sick of watch constantly alerting on group messages). Essentially it triggers a notification, then hides it
Make sure Tasker is set to send notificiations in Gear Manager
Make sure Tasker is turned on in Accessibility services
Profile: Notification Whatsapp
Cooldown: 5mins
Event: Notification
Owner Application: WhatsApp
Task: WhatsApp Message
1. Notify
Title: Whatsapp
Text: Message Received
Icon: [Can be anything, as doesn't show up anywhere]
2. Wait
Seconds: 5
3. Notify Cancel
Title: whatsApp
Further ideas:
- Display content (requires sqlite3)
- Only display for group chats
- Repeat alerts

Hi,
I always use MortPlayer to hear my Music (because of Folders). And often I can control it with Media-Control-Widget on my GG.
But there are 2 things I really dislike. First one is that I have to Pause/Stop playing to see the Name of the Track. And the second one is that I not see how late it is because there is no watch on the widget. That sucks.
Because of this I have some questions:
1.) Is there an alternative for Original Media-Control-Widget?
2.) Could I directly start MortPlayer with Media-Control-Widget? What I have to do?
3.) Is there someone who could rewrite this App/Widget to show clock and Trackname and rearange the volume-Buttons. If it is possible
I don't know anything about Android developing.
Thx forward.

I don't have any suggestions but some comments on your post. When I go to Media Controller, within a milisecond, it displays the name of the track, without me touching any buttons.
Also, what do you mean how late? You want a clock on the Media Controller? Why? I put the shortcut for Swipe Down on clock to go to Media Controller. It's easy access to both.
Yeah, I don't have that problem either. Clock would be useful I guess
Here's something to try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2610167 (look at plugins available)
Well before GG I've got an Pebble Smartwatch, and on MediaControl the Trackname and the clock will always be shown. This was very useful, because sometimes the Track starts and after a short while I will see whats the Name of the Track. But then I have to stop and start it. This is isn't very good. And I think there is enough space to set the Volume-Buttons on other place to let Trackname and clock always stays on display.
But now after I've updated GearManager to newest version here in forum, MediaControl only starts Standard Music Player .
Hello there,
I'm coming from Android, 'cause my S4 died and my parents gifted to me a Nokia 830 :silly:
I'm looking for an Alarm software which should be at most like Gentle Alarm, which as main feature have the chance to play music at random, so every day you'll get a different mp3. I've searched a bit, but I didn't find anything on the store, so maybe asking is faster and save me from install 20 different alarm software.
Thnx
The first app in the Store search for "alarm random" is called "Realarm" and has excellent reviews. It allows random choice from a user-selected list. Sadly, it also has the following disclaimer: "Please note that unfortunately Windows Phone currently does not allow apps to use user's songs as alarm sounds". http://www.windowsphone.com/en-us/store/app/realarm/26cad058-fc9a-4967-95f0-4e83c09de99e
That could be worked around with some hacks, but unless somebody writes an app with those hacks, you're possibly out of luck until WP10.
Hi everyone!
After my first plugin I had an idea of creating another one, but this time not an "action" but an "event".
The free but ad-supported version of the plugin can be found here and if you want to support the development and don't have ads you can find the paid one here.
Of course the description can be found there, but as a quick recap, this plugin can listen for hotwords and signal Tasker when a hotword is recognized!
It uses Snowboy Hotword to listen to the mic and process what it hears super fast and completely locally.
Hotword models can be found and trained at the Snowboy Website and the downloaded model can be imported in my plugin.
Next from Tasker you can create an event of the Hotword Plugin and tap on the hotword you want to react to, next you can do with it what you want!
You can listen to multiple hotwords at the same time and run a different event for each one. So for example if you shout "lights on" the lights might turn on and if you shout "play music" the music starts playing.
You can see it as AutoVoice Continuous but a lot faster and more consistent, plus you can train any hotword you like and pronounce it in any language you prefer (to be defined at the website).
Of course you can modify the sensitivity if you feel like it can't hear you or if it goes off all the time and you can start or stop the service via a Tasker action if you like.
Personally I use the app in combination with my ADB shell plugin to launch assistant on my NVIDIA Shield AndroidTV handsfree by shouting "hey google" to an old android phone lying besides the tv.
Since a lot of time went into developing this plugin and making it work (a way lot more than my last plugin) I put it in the Play Store for the price of a small coffee but since I know people like free apps, I decided to also create an add supported version.
Again, you can find the free version here and the ad-free version here (Of course I will update both at about the same time when I fix something).
So if you like the idea and want to try it out please have a look!
And if you have any questions, troubles, ideas, bugs (yes I'm sure they're there even after thoroughly testing), please leave them below!
Edit: If you don't have access to the Google Play store, I just uploaded both versions to XDA Labs:
Paid version

I don't think it is your fault, but it seems that this hot word detection system is way too sensitive for me, it detected words when there were only noises.
sadly, but the idea was promising though

That happens when the sensitivity is too high, have you adjusted the sensitivity setting in the app?
For me the same happens when I set the sensitivity to 10 and when I set it to 0, nothing will ever trigger. For the phone and words I'm using, the sweet spot is around 4 or 5
yeah, thanks for the reply. I did play around with the sensitivity on default and then some lower level, however it still seemed to trigger to often. Maybe a little bit more playing around would help, or, may be it's just the nature of my language...
Great app, does the work pretty good but why does it have to disable google assistant. When this app is listening, assistant stops listening. Why can't they both work together. Or can we configure this app to trigger assistant and not the Google app itself.
@Humpie does it work when the screen is off ?
Comparison to Autovoice
Hi,
Just wondering about the difference between this and Autovoice, or if there is an integration that would make sense.
Thanks.
I was hopeful, but even at the lowest sensitivity setting available, it still triggers when the tv is on downstairs and completely quite upstairs.:crying::crying:

Hmm, what you could try is to download a hotword from snowboy.kitt.ai that is a bit more trained. In my experience they are a lot more consistent and trigger more accurately.
I do find it strange that even the lowest sensitivity setting still triggers it Did you stop and start the service just to be sure after changing it?
I am thinking about enabling more steps of sensitivity btw, but I'm not sure if I can make it even lower. I'll try though

Unfortunately this is how the audio record function works in Android. Only one app at a time can access the microphone. Google has made an exception for the built-in "Okay Google" (and I'm not sure how they do it), but fortunately a workaround is possible. You can enable and disable the listening service of my plugin from within Tasker.
So what you can do is create a new profile for when the event "Hey google" (for instance) in hotword Plugin triggers and create a task wherein you put "stop hotword plugin", "Voice command" (which triggers assistant) and after a while "start hotword plugin" again. (Or you can just enable it yourself from the notification)
It's also possible to stop and start hotword plugin automatically when assistant is in the foreground (I think), but I haven't managed to get it to work myself as Assistant is an overlay app and the detection of which app is running can be a bit slow in Tasker...

My plugin is comparable to the continuous listening mode of AutoVoice, however there is a difference. AutoVoice can continuously listen to what everyone says, convert it to text and then pass that on to Tasker where you can make something happen when a certain word is heard. I did try this before creating this app, but it can be very slow, especially when more words are heard after the hotword you want. AutoVoice will listen until it hears that you stopped talking and then send all it heard to Tasker. It will also often just not get the word correct, so it's not handy to be used as hotword detection.
In comparison, my plugin uses a different engine (not the google speech recognition engine, but Snowboy) which is specifically designed to recognize trained hotwords. So the downside is that you have to train a certain hotword before you can use it, but this does result in a way more accurate detection. It's also way faster as it doesn't have to wait til everyone is silent again and stopped talking, it just instantly triggers after you say the word and signals Tasker.
You can integrate this with AutoVoice if you like, well, more like, let it work together to create something awesome. You can create a task for when a certain hotword is triggered where you stop my plugin from listening, start an AutoVoice prompt where you can say your command (like "set the tv to 10") and then afterwards start my plugin again.
Want to give this a try.
Continuous listening usually leads to too much battery drain.
Is the problem handled in the plugin? Tasker monitors sensors and hardware by intervals which is why it in itself does not eat the battery. Using Tasker's scheme would have (optionally) long waits to test audio when the screen is off.
Where is this "voice command" option.
Could you give us an example of your Tasker settings that allow you to use this instead of gAssistant?
I paid, cause I love this idea. Can't wait to try it, but I wholeheartedly support anything better than "OK Google"!

It will lead to battery drain, but this is necessary. It would be extremely unreliable if it stopped listening for a while, as in, it would stop working and no longer react to your hotword which defies the entire purpose of the app.

I paid, cause I love this idea. Can't wait to try it, but I wholeheartedly support anything better than "OK Google"!

"Voice command" can be found under the Tasker actions under the Input tab. Thank you very much
I attached an example of how you can launch assistant whilst pausing my plugin from listening for a while so assistant can actually hear you.
You can execute this task for the hotword event you like so "hey google" or "computer" whatever you like and have set up in the hotword plugin

It will lead to battery drain, but this is necessary. It would be extremely unreliable if it stopped listening for a while, as in, it would stop working and no longer react to your hotword which defies the entire purpose of the app.

So the question becomes, with any of these things, how I want to use them. Use a Tasker script to toggle the service. For example, if phone is face down, turn it off. Or if I pick up the phone, turn it on. Scripts have "exit" options to reverse the toggle.
I would want to do this with OK Google as well but this plugin offers the option, Google does not.

This is indeed possible to achieve with my plugin, however if your phone supports always listening OK Google with screen off already, it usually has a dedicated chip for this that uses very little power. I know my 6P does and leaving OK Google to always listening results in no significant more battery drain
