Gear vr earth app - Samsung Gear VR

I remember there was a google earth like app in oculus. After today's update I cant see it. Its not street view. Its like if you look up you fly high and if you look down you fly to any place on earth where u look

I think u're talking about cardboard app, not an oculus app.

Google Earth & NASA databases

In the settings for the Earth app you can add database urls to the list and select one.
I'd like to add the moon, Mars, etc., but I find no info about this on the Web.
Anyone have any experience with this?
I want to know this also.

i guess google hasn't published the database addresses yet.
maybe it's worthwhile to ask in this forum:

That sucks. Does this mean that we can look at Mars from within the Android Earth app?

MusicRadar

Cool new app in the samsung store. Will identify music and also show the lyrics. Worked great on the few songs I tried.

Menu in Japanese...
Seems to be very efficient, the only problem is that if NOTE language is set to Polish - application menu and music texts are displayed in Japanese (or maybe Korean, I am sorry I can't recognize..)
APK?
Can anyone post APK? Seems like a really cool app, just can't find it on an app store.

I have the original gear, just can't find it on the Samsung gear app store and can't install it from online.
Probably like every other new app that's worth ****-put up and taken down within a day
I was never able to get my hands on it and never seen it since
hey

Hope Google steps up to the plate

Im really hoping google steps up to the plate and works with alot of their apps to make them work with the gear. So many possibilities with keep, music, drive, gmail, hangouts, everything.
Im not holding my breath, but it would be great to see them jump in the wagon.
I hope so too, but part of me thinks that Google won't be in a hurry to go out of their way to make the Gear experience too good when they are releasing their own watch soon.

I would agree but you have to think about the Nexus line vs the rest of Android. Google first and foremost wants their apps in your face no matter which device it is. This is more in Samsung's court than anybody else. They want control of the GG and to promote their crappy app store.

Atooma finally available for the gear

Atooma seems to be a rudimentary tasker type app.
I played around with a bit, made a profile where the vertical movement would silence my phone but the controls are way to sensitive. Just moving your wrist is enough to trigger the action. Not a bad start I guess, what profiles or uses can you guys think of?
Another semi cool action I made is when I flick my wrist, my phone opens up google now.

May be a cool way to send quick messages, need to check it out more.
I tried to set up a rule to send gmail messages, but when they come through on the gear, it just give the subject and time of the email and says to check the phone for more info.
This is interesting, are we installing this on our gear or our phones ?
Both. you need the app on your phone from the play store and the Gear app from the Gear manager app store.

You can install Wondershare Mobile2Go on pc (free trial 30 days), then appmonster free on Galaxy Gear and you can share Atooma's apk.
No root required, only debug usb enabled.
Here's the Atooma apk

Thank you thank you !
I assume this is for the gear ? Could you please supply the apk for phone ?
EDIT: Verified the APK supplied is for the gear.
The reason for this is the Atooma APK we have available on the play store is not compatible with gear.
Here's the APK from the phone
(It is too big to attach to the forum)
I've stopped using it on the Gear as the notifications just say to check the phone for more detail.
Using the Samsung email app seems to be the only way at the moment to get email details to the Gear.
I cant get these working together !
I install both apk's, although I cant see any options for the gear on the atoomba app..
I just recieve a "Please check Atooma phone app." error on the gear.
^^^I get the same as well
After both are installed(phone and watch) you have to enable the gear as a device in the Atooma phone app.
It's under the "connections" tab.

Smart Remote For GG

I noticed this app in the Samsung store under entertainment, it works brilliant to control your TV from your gear. Your phone needs to be near by of course. Just thought I would share.

Good good. Don't use IR remotes anymore. But this is definitely a brilliant way to use the Gear (or any smartwatch).
My hope is that Logitech will do something similar for their harmony app for the harmony smart or harmony ultimate. (or published a sdk for it). A big big advantage of the Logitech solution is that the remote app communicates via Wifi with a wifi hub which in turn translates the commands in IR code. Especially for a Smartwatch setup this works great. You don't need to point the phone because everything is send via Wifi instead of Infrared.

I just checked again and it's in the store for me now...
I don't have this either In the UK.. Maybe because I'm using a Note 2?

Access the Samsung Apps via the Gear Manager. I did and live in Venezuela and no problems, downloaded the remote from peel.

It never connects for me. I am running Null 11 though so I wonder if that has something to do with it??

Its working for me, but it always acts like a DVR and I can't get it to show me channel change, just volume and dvr controls. My cable box is also a dvr.
