is there application to use galaxy camera as normal phone?

Not yet, the ability to make calls using skype suggest (I guess) once devs start to work on it, they'll find a way.

Silly question it may have mobile phone gubbings in side has any one tried "ex dialer" .. I know Samsung didn't put the phone app on the system but can anyone fox it ?
To get a signal there has to be an imei so I wonder if a dialer will work ?
I haven't got mine yet (big debate between the wife and me over cost as I have a £900 slr and lense) so I can't try anyone fancy trying
Also of there is mobile phone gubbings on the phone surely a normal mobile phone sim works 3 uk do unlimited data might work

I suspect it'll be the same situation is guys with a Galaxy Tab 10.1 had, the hardware is capable of making calls and was disabled in the modem firmware. What someone figured out was if you flashed the modem from another Samsung device (a specific one, not just a random unit) it "unlock" the call feature and the tab can now indeed make and receive calls.
I wouldn't be surprised if for this device, it will end up being the case where you can flash the S3 or Galaxy Note 2 modem to open up the call function.

It depends if it has a GSM radio or not. If it does, you can bet your ass devs on XDA will unlock it and it will be useable as a phone.
I swear if it had that AND a QWERTY keyboard, it would be my godphone and I would sell my current one in a heartbeat. Unfortunatly its already big enough so they would never release a QWERTY version. But they problably WILL release a GSM version if it sells.......

There's an entire network in the uk that only uses 3G. I don't think that's the problem.

SGC has IMEI and can receive SMS, so basically it can make calls, just disabled in firmware by Samsung.

SGC doesn't have GSM (2G) abiility, only WCDMA (3G). And from I read on gsmarena.com, LTE (4G) ability.
So even if devs can enable the phone function on this device, it will connect only to WCDMA and LTE network.
Additional info:
* In the settings, mobile network, there is no option for network mode to choose between 2G or 3G or 4G network.
* pdadb.net shows this device indeed has GSM capabilities.
* in Indonesia, this device labeled as "cellular phone" by the "Indonesian Telecommunications Regulatory Body"

I use talk app on mine to call my other contacts seems to work well.

Maybe I'm drinking too much of the kook-aid, but I'm planning on picking this bad boy up with VZW and running GrooveIP with my Google Voice number and a headset.
Am I alone?

Talkatone works great. Way better than Skype. It connects on boot, and accepts incoming calls immediately. It integrates with Android and functions just like a built in phone app. Even syncs with my address book.

I have activate the Phone App in the Camera! Samsung have included it but deactivate....

Cannot activate sidekey, needs more codes that have been removed by Samsung

How can I enable blocking mode? I can not find it. I install activity launcher but can't see it.

Start Activity Launcher and choose ¨All activities¨
Click on Settings and search for Blocking Mode, You can hold your finger on Blocking Mode and Create a Shortcut on the Start Screen to make it easier to access it the next time i tried adding it in the Status Bar toggles, but that trick with SQ Lite is over sadly :/
It works 100% without any glitch or bug

Do you have a link where someone has it installed on their watch?

The update for the Wifi devices has not been released yet. Only non Wifi devices got the 5.1.1 update and the Urbane came shipped with it.
EDIT: Looks like the Sony Smartwatch 3 just rolled out.
Edit:2 Looks like today we got the Gear Live.

After resetting my Gear live several times; it finally starting downloading the update.
Reset then pair and check for update. Checking for update manually doesn't appear to work otherwise.
Edit: I'm on 5.1.1 and wifi works great at home. I'll have to see how well it fares on Optimum/Xfinity wifi later.
After a brief investigation I have determined (unsurprisingly) that Optimum/Xfinity wifi is out. And after additional consideration that's probably a good thing.
Also using a local wifi hotspot between the watch and the paired phone will not work. (To clarify connecting your watch to a hotspot on the same phone that normally host Android Wear will not work.)
You can however use another phones wifi hotspot to pair both the phone and watch.

After downloading it how does one actually install it? Or would the watch read that the zip is stored on the phone?

I believe this is what you are looking for. In /system/build.prop there is a setting called ro.ambient.low_bit_enabled and its set to true by default.

Can anyone confirm if the method for the Sprint Galaxy Note 4 works on the Sprint Galaxy Note 5? Or if another non-root method works.

works perfectly. took longer to go through the prompts than it did to talk to the CSR to get the MSL. just asked her for it and she gave it.

Tell them your a developer and you need it for programming purposes.

On the sprint note 5 there is no hotspot option in settings. On the sprint s6+ edge the option is there...weird

Also trying above methods to get hotspot working are not working on the Sprint 64gb Note 5. Pdanet+ connects via wifi with limited internet access and changing the apn requires no msl # but doesn't seem to change anything since there is not hotspot/tethering option in settings
Edit: confirmed hotspot working 8/22/2015 sprint 64gb note 5 if you are missing hotspot setting in settings do a factory reset

I have two SPRINT Note 5 32GB. I can confirm that the first post works. I did sprint CSR online chat and without any questions was given the MSL for both phones (separate chats). With that I was easily able to follow directions and get Wifi Hotspot on both phones working. Now I need to work on a shortcut app or if possible get the factory hotspot toggles in the menu.

I was able to enter view mode after ##3282# and edit apn settings without need of msl on 64gb note 5
Is there a way to create a shortcut in the quicksettings for the hotspot?

I'm not sure how "VIEW" mode let you "EDIT" and make changes. I sure as hell unable to make any changes in "view" mode. Fore me its like normal. If you go to view everything is grayed out and nothing can be changed. If you go to EDIT it asks for a MSL. But as said that was easy to get.

Anyone tried this on T-Mobile? If so is it eating into tethering data?

If you don't get the answer you need here (as its really new) check the Note 4 forum. This is nothing new or different from previous phones. If the Note 4 (or others) on T-mobile was good you'll be the same on the Note 5. It just enables the stock tethering.

Well its really a 2 min fix. As i said online chat and ask for your msl. Problem solved for good. It was as easy as asking for it.

Yes but if they find out phones that have view and edit mode universal and find out that "dun" enables unlimited hotspot they could patch it but i really think that was just supposed to be known to the service provider workers or samsung themselves? Could i have possibly gotten a developer version of the device by accident? If i do an imei check my model comes up G900 Galaxy S 5 WTF!

There is a new software update available for the Note 5 as of 9/26. Im wondering if this will take our hotspot away.

I want to throttle my download speed from LTE to 3G

I'm running stock MM and can't find a setting anywhere to switch to 3G. I'm hoping to use a little less bandwidth on Fi. I remember being able to do this on LP, when I was on ATT. Can it be done?

on Verizon i have no idea. on tmobile its easy as well. you can even select it in the main settings.

Now that I'm on Fi, and go to Cellular network settings, it only gives me the choice of turning on/off the Data Roaming. Nothing else.
