Using freedompop on ls991 vza locked - Sprint LG G4

I just recently bought a sprint lg g4 (ls991) (returned, open box) (ZVA) from eBay, that I want to use on my freedompop sim card from my Nexus 5, this was labeled sprint with a white background and some (probably) sensitive information. If you don't already know, Freedompop is a mvno on the sprint network. I don't have a sprint plan, so calling them to unlock it would (probably) not work.
Should I buy a different g4, if so which version?
Should I try calling sprint?
Should I try unlocking my other phone (moto e 2015 vzw) and use the sim in there?
Should I ask you?
If you have an answer or need just a bit more information I will be happy to reply to your comment, thanks! Also do the poll.

OK, thanks I'll try that

I'm looking to buy a LG G4 on eBay and then activate on freedompop. Is there any reason why it won't work?
On the FP forum there's this post: https://forums.freedompop.com/discussion/12814/byod-what-sim-card-do-i-need-for-my-byod-handset
The G4 is listed so won't it work?

the phone is SIM unlocked; you can use on any GSM carrier.

I'm almost positive that you should be able to pop in any sim card, pre- or post-paid, and it should work...
i just tested it with a nextel chip with a plan but no data service and i still get no bars??? i will try to put up some pics....please help if ya can...thanks
As far as I know Nextel doesn't use GSM networks it has it's own iDEN network, I don't know what the difference is, or if it should work with a GSM receiver but I can't say I'm surprised it doesn't work. Also from what I've heard, the phone has only received FCC certifications on T-Mob and AT&T for the phone you have, Verizon passed separately. Again, don't know if this helps, but I'm not shocked it doesn't work. Your phone is carrier unlocked, it came that way from HTC and unlocking the bootloader has nothing to do with which carriers it will work with.
no all i did was i bought it on a tmobile network through google then i had unlock the bootloader then rooted the phone now is there a way to use differ carriers??? i did not buy it unlocked......from google.....so is there a way ?

Dude... your question is moot! The phone, even if bought on a T-mobile line, IS NOT LOCKED TO ANY SPECIFIC CARRIER! You can pop in ANY GSM SIM CARD, and it will work. I bought mine on a T-mobile upgrade... but I can throw in an AT&T, Rogers, Fido, Vodaphone, etc., SIM, and it will work just fine.
o okay will try it out with att thanks...

Sprint Moto X rooting / questions

I'm thinking of buying a used "unlocked" Sprint Moto X from someone local.
1. Is it possible / easy to root it & flash custom ROMs?
2. Is it true that it supports GSM as well as CDMA? E.g., could I use it with Sprint locally, and then with a GSM card overseas?
thanks
Sprint X can have its bootloader unlocked. If it isn't already unlocked, you can request the code from Moto's web site. NOTE: this does void the warranty, then again, the warranty paperwork says the warranty is non-transferable, so buying one used means no warranty anyway.
Once the bootloader is unlocked, you can easily root it. Follow this -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/moto-x-qa/instructions-unlocking-rooting-dev-ed-t2649738
as for GSM side... The Sprint X is sim locked, and you can only get the sim unlock code from Sprint, and only if the phone is on a currently active account and met their conditions. 3rd Party SIM unlock is not available.
I think the Sprint X supports quad band GSM. I'm not sure about its UMTS/HSPA/HSPA+ abilities.
SIM unlock for Page Plus
I am currently using a Sprint Moto X on Page Plus but cannot get the data to work. I read that it get it APN info from the SIM card. Does this mean I would require a SIM unlock to use data with Page Plus?
Thanks

You might want to ask in other thread.. see -> http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x/general/guide-flash-sprint-moto-x-to-page-plus-t2732342
actually, never mind., I see you have since posted there.

AT&T Flex on T-Mobile?

Will everything work taking a AT&T branded G Flex To T-Mobile? Wanting to pick one up but all I see are AT&T versions..wanting T-Mobiles $30/month prepaid plan from Walmart.
Anyone?
If you unlock it. And I'm not talking about the bootloader. There are forums about SIM unlocking on here.
So if I sim unlock it a AT&T g flex will work on t-mobile for everything?
I'm not sure I don't have an att but yes that's the theory.

the at&t g flex works perfectly on tmobile, but you have to unlock it first... how? in my case i paid less than 2 dolars in ebay and i got an unlock code in a few hours (when you put the tmobile sim card you will get a message that says network locked and it will ask you to enter the unlock code)..
so go and get it.

[Q] Can I sim crack this particular Sprint Moto

Hi, I am new to the forum and this is my first post.
I have found this thread by @samwathegreat that will allow us to sim crack the Sprint phones. Thanks to him!
I want to buy this phone and you might have noticed that it is locked to Sprint.
I want to use it in India and my question is, since the phone doesn't come with a sim or a subscription, will I able to crack it using @samwathegreat method and insert an Indian sim and use it on Indian networks?
ie,
1. Does the phone need to be activated with a Sprint sim initiitally and then use the crack to unlock it?
or
2. I simply buy it and crack it using the sim crack method? (ie, no sprint sim; no activation on Sprint network)
Since I am not a US resident I am confused in this regard please guide me.

Question about Using an Unlocked Sprint LG G6 on Tmobile

Hello XDA,
Do we know if we are able to flash the firmware of another carriers to the LG G6? I remember we were able to do that with the S6/S7 so that Wifi Calling and VoLTE would be fixed for users on Tmobile using an unlocked phone (Sprint unlocked phone etc). Since they had the same physical hardware.
I'll be getting a Sprint LG G6 from my job but I have tmobile, I can get it unlocked thats not a problem, but I need Wifi Calling to work. Has anyone tried to flash another carriers firmware on their LG G6 // do we know if they are the same hardware wise? Thanks in advance guys!

The devices have been GSM capable since the S3. NVTOOLs usually has some flags you can flip to enable the bands/radio. Of course it needs to be clean ESN with Sprint, and internationally unlocked from Sprint.
Does any one know what i need to do to get my sprint lg g6 working on other carriers sprint says its unlocked but when i put at&t sim card in it does not register

Did Sprint just say it's unlocked or did they give you a code? From what I know they are suppose to give an unlock codes for Android devices and for iPhones they just unlock them. Your phone is suppose to prompt you when you put a different carrier SIM in and once you out that code in your permanent unlocked.
Can anyone second this?
I wouldn't trust Sprint. They need to give you the unlock code. I found someone to pay to do it. There are very few.
