Im usually really good about searching and following direction so here my issue please help i unlock my bootloader on my moto x 2014 from verizon running 5.1 but now i cant seem to find how to root this thing and put android 6.0 on it
Install custom recovery (twrp is good but do not take last version for this phone). Then flash SuperSu for your phone from TWRP. Then you're rooted ! GG WP !
There are plenty of thread about how to do it precisely !

Hi. Did you installed TWRP ?
I suggest you to watch these two vidéo. They are for the Moto G (Titan) but the main principle is the same (Don't use files of the vidéo).
--> Moto G (2014) - How to Root - Unlock Bootloader, Custom Recovery & SuperSU : https://www.youtube.com/watch?t=85&v=BLSTDsFG1xw
--> How to Install Cyanogenmod 12.1 on Moto G 1st Gen/2nd Gen : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iOMkKEDad-A
In the second video, the max explain how to install cyanogenmod. But you can install every custom rom you want, by following the steps described in the video.
I suggest you to go to these two sub-forums to see by yourself what are the custom rom available for your device.
--> X 2014 Android Development : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development
--> Original Android development for the Moto X 2014 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/orig-development
I personnaly use :
TWRP (cusom recovery) : v2.8.6.0 (working and stable for XT1092 device)
Resurrection Remix (Rom) : v 5.6.3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-x-2014/development/rom-resurrection-remix-v5-6-0-t3270604
-(This rom is discontinued, but V5.6.3 is stable and really smooth + it allow a lot of personnalisation)
About the message of unlocked bootloader .... I don't know how to help you. But there are a lot of topic about it. Just search for it.

I don't know how to do to remove the waning message. Indeed, i didn't even searched for that before. So i prefere not giving you links that can cause problems on your device before testing them .. sorry that i can't help you on this issue ..
- Here is the TWRP download page for XT102 : https://dl.twrp.me/victara/
You can take 2.8.6.0 version. Which is stable and working well for me (also on 6.0. My rom is is 6.0.1).
- The SuperSU File I used for my phone. Here is the link : https://download.chainfire.eu/924/SuperSU/BETA-SuperSU-v2.68-20160228150503.zip
If you need files for a custom rom, I sugest you to look at the developpment/Original dev' sub-forums. Link is up there.
About minimal ADB+ fastboot (required to unlock bootloader) you can take the one in the vid. They are regardless of device you use.
Here is the guide i followed to root my phone (I should have posted it here before ^_^) : https://androidmtk.com/root-motorola-moto-x-2014
Good luck !

Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.
Before posting, please use the forum search and read through the discussion thread for [weekly] MIUI for honami( all models!! ) 4.4.4 (both locked and unlocked ! ). If you can't find an answer, post it here, being sure to give as much information as possible (firmware version, steps to reproduce, logcat if available) so that you can get help.
Thanks for understanding and for helping to keep XDA neat and tidy!
I have a problem with Su binary update and installing xposed framework ..
can any one help ??
Thank you so much for this post! I will take this chance to post a couple of questions:
I got MIUI 4.11.28 on my Sony Xperia Z1 (6903). I've installed WSM 2.3.6, after flashing and wiping the 4.11.28 MIUI ROM, because I updated from a previous version.
WSM seems like its working but actually it isn't! On the log of "Framework section", it says "Dexspy found, but it seems to be inactive. Common binaries will be used."
I found previous posts here that mention the same log output but I couldn't find a solution for that.
Also, my device freezes itself from time to time (6~12 hours) and reboots. Even if screen is locked.
Could you give me a hand about this? Thanks!
It is possible for the MIUI to freeze and reboot for now. Because it is based on the official firmware. It is impossible for MIUI auto patch to patch everything perfectly. You know MIUI stop updating MIUI V5 from souce.
Feel so sorry about that

Thanks for your answer! I guess so, it's just I read somewhere here that the spontaneous reboots could be related to WSM. However, I get used to reboot my phone for breakfast, lunch & dinner
My main concern is still what happened with WSM....

The Zip file is formed, but you have to find it. It is not located directly under internal or external SD card. You have to find the exact path where it is created. Unfortunately I don't remember exact path, and I am on Lollipop ROM on my Z1 now, otherwise I would look it up.
Wish you good luck
Looked here: Storage/emulated/0/android/data/de.robv.android.xposed.installer/files??
Of course ! Where did you find it?
hey there, i'm using .28 but it says the media storage has stopped and i can't restore any data from titanium backup...

Well, flashing with TWRP only worked for me on KitKat, it stopped working for 5.02, but what I did was used auto root for Lollipop, I was told this is the only supported method for this device on Lollipop, are you still on 4.4.4 or did you receive the OTA 5.02?
And as you are trying Auto Root, are you sure you are choosing the correct one for your device, it took me an hour or so to ensure that it was the correct one, I analysed all the tags and compared them with my version, there was a few for my device so I had to make sure everything matched.
This is the one I used, it works but best check if it fits your device: download(dot)chainfire(dot)eu/603/CF-Root/CF-Auto-Root/CF-Auto-Root-titanumtsds-titanretaildsds-xt1068.zip
You need to add the http protocol and replace (dot) with .
It won't let me post links.

After the flash was successful with TWRP, I launched the SU app and it said something along the lines of 'SuperUser is not installed correctly' I used the exact same method as I did on KitKat, I then learned that this is no longer the way of rooting the device on Lollipop, I installed TWRP for nothing.
After rooting via TWRP 2.8.5.0 try to change the mode with SELinux Mode Changer: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.mrbimc.selinux&hl=de

Chainfire himself is strictly against changing SELinux. That's why he had to invest so much time and even bought a Moto G (2014) so he can fix any error resulting of enforced SELinux. SuperSU 2.45 was the result of his investigation into the XT106x.

CR Auto Root is the only method that worked for me since the lollipop update, I tried the SU zip with TWRP, i t was successful, however the SU app just displayed an error message saying that if wasn't installed correctly.
I did exactly the same thing as before, the only thing that changed was the new update.

Thx for that info. Didn´t heard that and if Chainfire said so it´s better to follow that.
And btt, flashing TWRP 2.8.4.0 or 2.8.5.0 with latest superSU (2.46 at the moment) should work with 5.0.2 without any other variations.
Can you please help me. My friend has a Moto G (2014). He had rooted his phone recently and installed TWRP. By mistake he has wiped his Internal Storage. Now there is no OS in his phone.
Please help me on how can i install the stock firmware back in his phone.
It's okk
.just download any available custom roms from xda
If you are in kitkat try some kitkat rom
And for lolipop try some lp roms
1)Just download the zip
2)place it in sd card
3)open twrp
4)select the zip
5)install gapps for lp otherwise don't
6)reboot to system
Thats all mate

HI FRIENDS!
So I just got my Moto G 2014 (XT1064) a few days ago. Previously I had only Samsung Smartphone and tablets. Well, with Samsung devices running on android, to restore to stock is very easy using a program called "Odin". All you do is open up Odin and select the firmware tar.md5 file and wait about 10 min. Then your on stock. But sadly, Odin is only for Samsung devices. So for anyone like me who wants a one-click restore to stock method, I've got u covered.
Introducing my new "Restore to Stock" tool for Windows! This is tool currently supports XT1063, XT1064, and XT1068. I will be supporting the XT1069 soon!
So how do u restore to stock?
***This will wipe all your data***
Step 1)
Download the "Moto G 2014 Restore to Android 4.4.4" zip from here:
XT1064:
1) Firmware 21.85.17 [4.4.4] - https://mega.co.nz/#!E1Jw0CTA!mCirOvVNFBSs0fgzcq5Xc1K4LIvRz6v3p0knMeV9iuM
2) Firmware 21.85.23 [4.4.4] -
XT1063
1) Firmware 21.85.23 [4.4.4] - https://mega.co.nz/#!wo4AxQbK!l0McMzx7iHTCjJzb7axDpyPhVBld0fCGAGxbL5-1UBg
XT1068
Firmware 22.99.16 [5.0.2] - https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B_OYdZXdfmnbY092bUIxaTkxRjg/view?usp=sharing
Firmware 21.85.27 [4.4.4] - https://mega.co.nz/#!kxpnEBIZ!NWF7n_-90o_oQQt8lZ9EsWAkN8QL2ITltn4QDD4FsBs
Step 2)
Extract the .zip to a location on your PC/Laptop you can easily access
Step 3)
Plug your Moto G 2014 into your computer
***Make sure all the proper device drivers are installed***
Step 4)
In the extracted folder, find a file called "Auto Restore Script" and click it (It is a Windows batch file)
Step 5)
In less than 5 min. your Moto G 2014 XT1064 will be restored to stock android 4.4.4 (firmware 21.11.17)
NOTE: I RECOMMEND YOU TRY THIS TOOL OUT ON YOUR MOTO G, SO JUST IN CASE IF YOU EVER ARE IN A PROBLEM (BOO-LOOP, CORRUPT PARTITION, ETC.) YOU KNOW HOW TO USE THIS TOOL AND U ARE ASSURED THIS TOOL WORKS!

Not really sure. It just seems easier just to restore stock KK and update to Lollipop since the internal storage is already gone; no need to back up files.
---------- Post added at 02:08 AM ---------- Previous post was at 02:00 AM ----------
Do you know if your friend's phone was on stock KK or Lollipop? If it was on stock KK, it's just easier to restore to stock using the links above. I suppose the real question here is whether if your friend had an external SD in the phone. If they had already installed a third party KK or Lollipop ROM, they could just download the ROM again and place it on the the external SD and use TWRP to flash it.
Are you able to boot into TWRP at all?
any tools which will help restore internal storage from mac?

Here is the Lollipop version you are looking for. You can easily install the stock ROM with locked or unlocked bootloader.
Rest will be taken care later as usual.
You can root with CF Autoroot. Flash the twrp image using Flashify and you're good to go.
Managed to succesfully port Ressurection Remix (7.1) to the Moto Green Pomelo (xt1799). Rom boots and all features work apart from Fingerprint reader.

Yeah, I am very interested. I tried RR, LineageOS, Viper for other montanas, all crashed after boot back into bootloader. Also I'd be interested getting Oreo based ROMs. So far I m stuck with chinese ZUI 3.1 which prevents me from flashing or installing Gapps.

You can unclock (XT1799-2 may be 'secretly' unlocked already), root your device, flash custom TWRP (escpecially for Moto G5S XT1792/1794 and Green Pomelo XT1799-2) - and then you'll be able to install Open GApps via TWRP/root.
Also you can simply open special Lenovo App Store on your ZUI-based phone (look for it carefully!), install Google Store's apk from out there - and be enjoying with any GApps and other official apk's.

If you will flash bootloader version 07 (not 06 as you have on any available ZUI stock ROMs), you'll be able to flash distinct Oreo firmware (XT1792 for Brasil/India/EU) in straight way (thread 1; thread 2). BUT YOU'RE GOING TO LOSE NFC and SELFIE-CAMERA in cause of special drivers lack!!! And you will have no way for downgrading of firmware in cause higher version bootloader.
* also you would prefer to flash Moto G5s' stock Android 7.1.1 firmaware (XT1794) on your Green Pomelo (XT1799-2), using this manual.
** stock Green Pomelo's ZUI-based Android 7.1.1 firmware you can find here

Thanks a lot! I was unable to Flash Gapps 7.1 in TWRP due to incorrect architecture error. I see that Oreo original ROM will probably never arrive to this phone, so I'll stick to 7.1. What buzzes me the most is that there is no custom rom compatible with XT1799 without losing some of its extra functions. I wonder how hard it will be to port Lineage, RR or similar to enjoy. I've been always using custom roms and now I feel kinda left out

Update, I just fastboot flashed the Firmware from the links provided, but managed to hard brick my phone!!!!!! ((( Don't know what to do now.
careful with flashing other moto g5s model roms on the xt-1799-2, its different and so you might get a brick. The best you can do is port like i said. You can unlock bootloader by "fastboot oem flashing" if that doesnt work for you try "fastboot oem unlock". I will be back on the pomelo xt-1799-2 soon as i am planning to order another one. Infact you guys will need a section dedicated to the xt-1799-2

What buzzes me the most is that there is no custom rom compatible with XT1799 without losing some of its extra functions. I wonder how hard it will be to port Lineage, RR or similar to enjoy. I've been always using custom roms and now I feel kinda left out

careful with flashing other moto g5s model roms on the xt-1799-2, its different and so you might get a brick.

I agree, a since it is a slightly different phone a independent section can be great. Now, I am not a developer, so things like porting ROMs is not in my skillset, but I understand that selfie cam and nfc will not work on any custom ROM even if ported simply due to driver issue. I have rooted my phone previously, so I was past unlocking. Problem was that I soft bricked moment I pressed 'factory reset' - the phone would just endlessly keep booting into recovery mode, which was strange as it had stock ROM updated by reseller into a global version. Then I tried to flash various custom ROMs without any luck. Pretty much tried any Montana ROM I could find, but as I said, I don't know how to port so I got stuck in recovery loop. Then I found out about Oreo project and tried to fastboot flash that. That was a major mistake. It upgraded bootloader to 7 without me realising this. I found out nfc and selfie camera not working, so I wanted to downgrade to stock chinese firmware and just install gapps manually. After I fastboot flashed the nougat firmware - my phone hard bricked and won't even respond it seems dead. Thus your link will not help. Anyway I am already on a mission to try to revive it using following method: https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75932514&postcount=1
Thank you anyway and if by chance you stumble upon some cool compatible ROM or to be honest a ROM that works really good - I don't really need NFC, but fingerprint scanner, turbo charger, selfie camera and reasonable battery management (some ROMs apparently drain it too quickly) would surely be features to keep. Also, if you have at hand a guide on how to port these roms which I can learn, I'd be very grateful.
Thank you
Six

At the moment you could use TWRP menu* 'Reboot - Bootloader' to boot in Fastboot Flash Mode (yes, it's bootloader) - and then press Power button (with 'START' tag in front of it).
But you have preferred to experiment ... You lost bootloader in due of custom 'chinese suppliers' firmware (non-original ROM) and forbidden factory reset with it.
* if you had stock recovery, you need to change mode with Volume buttons to Fastboot Flash Mode - and do the next steps in the same way; also you would be able directly to boot in Fastboot mode (bootloader) using long press Power button + Volume Down button

I warned you in straight way at that my post with a load of links to instructions and threads ('... you will have no way for downgrading of firmware in cause of higher version bootloader ...'). But you are bustler and illiterate, pardon me. By the way... do you know English or just use Google Translate?
* I have some unapproved info that OPP28.65-37[-2] firmware even uses bootloader version 12 (BL: BC12)

Yes, it may be will help you to boot in Fastboot menu. Please, read all method instructions carefully (RTFM!!!), don't experiment on your own risk/luck.
On Russian forum we have some examples of 'reviving' XT1799-2 with XT1794 mmcblk0.img - but it's the question of bootloader version and disk partition. May be now you have either bootloader version 06 and partition again or corrupted/mixed software or something else, so may be you'll be need to use distinct XT1799-2 mmcblk0.img. I have it ('Repair' folder), but there aren't any proved mentions of it's compatibility / applicability / integrality - all our XT1799-2 'bricks' were re-covered with XT1794 mmcblk0.img finally.
If you know Russian language or wanna risk to translate with Google Tranlsate (omg, please, don't do that ) - you may use Russian 4pda forum because at this very moment it has the most full load of info about XT1799-2 flashing and repairing (yes, all Slavs are misers and adventurers) not in Chinese language.
dmilz, I sincerely beg your pardon for messing up in your RR port thread

Well as irony had it, I did the operation literally seconds before I have read your warning. I was desperate of being stuck in either chinese rom or recovery loop. Anyway, I am amidst of transferring mmcblk0.img for XT1795 to my SD drive via Rufus. Problem is that it won't let me to choose GPT only MBR, so I hope that can still work. Another problem is that I don't how to check the actual bootloader version I am having there installed right now should I manage to get there.

The version of installed bootloader you can check in Fastboot Flash Mode (bootloader as actually, Power + Volume Down buttons pressing and so on).
The version of non-installed firmware you can find into special '.info' file, for example: file 'MONTANA_RETCN_NZS26.68-108_cid11_subsidy-DEFAULT_regulatory-DEFAULT_CFC_montana_retcn.info' inside ZUI-based MONTANA_RETCN_NZS26.68-108 ROM has this line:
Code:
MBM Version: BC.06
I used Win 10 and Rufus on XT-1799-2 using XT-1794 and 95 files, both holding power button for over 1min but screen remained black (

Because there were Android 7.1.1 images of mmcblk0 with corresponding partition and bootloader version (BC.07; and you may be need BC.08-BC.12 at this moment :shrugging: ).
Have you tried XT1799-2 mmcblk0.img (7.1.1)?
Have you ever found XT1794 Android 8.1.0-based mmcblk0.img ?

The results so far are underwhelming. I did the operation in Linux following https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=75932514&postcount=1 . Dowloaded both .img XT1794 and 95, checked the MD5 and flashed them on my sd card. Neither of them worked. Light was flashing at various intervals, but even after two minutes of holding the power button screen remained pitch black. I downloaded your image file for 1799-2, but ended with the very same result. I have not found XT1794 Android 8.1.0-based mmcblk0.img, yet. Would you know anything about it?
1799-2
Hello. I installed OREO 8.1 on MOTO 1799-22. The front camera and NSF do not work. No one will tell you the solution? Thank you friends.

But did you recover it from hard brick by using mmcblk0.img based on Oreo?
Have you done with your RR port for xt1799 yet?
I have purchased the xt1799 Green Pomelo, unlocked bootloader, and installed the twrp. I tried to flash many 7.1 Roms that were intended for g5s and always failed. please notify me if you are still working on the port.
Hi.
I have a Moto X 2014 and I usually download the ROMs from here without a problem. I was able to install all Android 9.0 Pie ROMs, but no Android 10 ROM for Moto X 2014 worked.
It even goes through TWRP without giving an error, but when it goes to install it gets stuck in the ROM logo and does not come out of it. Stay in the eternal loop. If anyone can help me, please.

I had some similar problems ...
do a clean install and preferably for the BitGapps package!
follow the developers' instructions ...
Unfortunately it does not install even following the instructions. See what I've tried:
- Erase the memory
- File system change
- Restart recovery
I'm getting sad to think that I won't be able to install a ROM with Android 10 on my Moto X 2014. If you have any suggestions I'm willing to listen to you, Punk77.
Hello
which ROM are you trying to install?
I got CrDroid, Havoc, AOSP here and I'm currently using Arrow !!!
only Arrow works with Open gapps the others only with bitgapps ...
what file system is used and what version of TWRP?
Hi, again punk-77.
I've tried to install all Android 10 ROMs. I've been instructed to use the ext4 file system but it didn't work. I use the most current version of TWRP which is 3.3.1-0 Victara. I returned in ROM Stock but still not installing the ROMs Android 10 is in loop.

use f2fs for /data, ext4 for system...
I am currently using the Arrow ROM, I did a clean flash and the zips in the following sequence:
1 - ROM
2 - Open Gapps (pico)
3 - Magisk
CrDroid ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
AOSP ROM
1 - ROM
2 - Magisk
3 - BitGapps
HAVOC ROM
1 - ROM
2 - BitGapps
3 - Magisk
“Data”???
There is no partition with that name.
Could you please let me know which file system would be ideal for each partition please.
For example, from what you told me the system is ext4.
wipe - advanced wipe - click on data
changes in the same way as with the system ...

Yes! Sorry. I got confused in the translation.
I changed Data to f2fs and System to ext4 and it still doesn't work.
Unfortunately. I don't know what to do anymore except to be sad. :crying:

of all available ROMs the only one that I managed to install without fail on the first attempt was Arrow !!!
something I noticed here, was that if I leave the phone connected to the PC, it gets stuck on the startup screen.
try this way with the Arrow ROM:
1- clear all data, system, chache ...
2- pass the ROM, Gapps ... to the cell phone
3 - disconnect the phone from the PC ...
4 - install ROM -Gapps - Magisk (optional) ...
Edit: Bitgapps also works with the Arrow ROM ...
however, you are unable to restore backups saved to Google Drive.
I did as directed. Only ROMs with Android Pie and below complete the installation.
It's sad because maybe only one developer knows why this happens... :crying:
Thank you so much for trying to help me!

unfortunately I don't know how to help anymore ...
now we can only try the support of the developers for a solution !!!
Edit: Foi lançada atualizações das ROMs...
I just tested it and it still doesn't work.
It remains in an infinite loop...
Frustrated. Very, very, very frustrated!
For me it was also stayed bootlogo on aosp 10.0, came from stock rom. then with flash drive via otg cable installed aosp 8.0 (i was bootloped). Phone survived, but 2 times i have no success in install Android 10, tried clean flash and all etc necessary
Hi, gioyocho how are you?
Did you manage to install any Android 10 ROM on your Moto X 2014? Sorry is that for me it was not clear in the translation.

only tried 10.0 aosp, but 8.0 aosp is stable for me
I understand. Thanks for commenting.
I think I tested all the Android 10 ROMs that were posted on the XDA for the Moto X 2014. None worked on my device even following all the instructions that were given to me.
Arrow
just now, successfuly installed Arrow 10.0.0 Vanilla rom. but it has battery problems as i guess, as all custom roms. only 6.0 stock works good without battery issues
Will this work with TWRP 3.2.1 or do I need to update?
