Heating and Battery issues - HTC One Mini 2

Recently, my phone has started running really hot in some circumstances, and the battery runs down really quickly.
Additionally, when the battery gets down to 21%, the phone immediately shuts down and then takes 10-15 minutes, at least, to charge enough that I can boot it back up.
I had a One XL that started experiencing similar issues after a year or two. Do these phones seriously only last that long?

i had no problems with my battery so far, might be worth checking what app is using the battery or accessing the web. I found thats where the most usage occurred.

Oh, it's only while I'm actually doing stuff with my phone, it doesn't just happen in the background. If I leave the screen off, I'm fine. But if I watch videos on YouTube, say, the phone gets so hot it's painful to hold, which wasn't happening before.
Plus the phone shutting off at 21% battery. Which would previously last a good 15-20 minutes, at least, even using it a bit.

i would contact HTC. Since its hardware failure, they usually fix for free (at least in UK) even off warranty.
it could be more than just battery...

[Q] Rebooting and Drain problem

I've been ROM-free for months now ever since this problem started but alas! Not even returning it to the stock using Sony's repair thing fixed it.
My phone has been rebooting at random moments and whenever I'm lucky enough to see it on, the battery status always changes. For example, I've recently charged it then put it in my pocket for a couple of hours, when I check it, I see the Sony Ericson logo and when it turns on the battery has completely gone from 90 to 20 something if I'm lucky and 3% or so if I'm not. This problem is often found when: I've left it in my pocket for even the slightest period of time, when someone's calling me (I can't even answer calls for more than a few seconds now because it always dies on me), and other random moments.
If it helps, the battery seems to be on fire every time it reboots itself. Thanks for any helpful suggestions and even for just reading.

[Q] Help, please! My battery?!

Okay, so.. I have a Samsung Galaxy Exhibit II 4G.
I have it rooted with the root stock from this thread.
With that said, I've had this phone rooted for several months now. Since January or so. Over the course of that time, the phone has run without fault for months. Recently, I've had issues with my battery draining (as well as charging) far more quickly than it used to. I assumed this was an issue with the battery, because there was a slight bulge in it, so I bought a replacement battery that came yesterday. I charged it full (until the phone said it was 100%), from about 5% charge. It took the normal time (as the phone did when it was new) to charge, of just over 2 hours. It died almost completely about 2 1/2 hours later. Currently, I have my phone charging and it's at right around 90%, after just over an hour of charge from 20%. It used to take far longer to both charge, as well as die. What the Hell is going on?
Just a few notes:
This is not the result of heavy usage (for power drain). I say this because even as the phone was idle while I slept, it died on its own accord sometime throughout the night.
My bluetooth, WiFi, and GPS are almost always off, unless I'm using one of them for some purpose, and I haven't used any of those things since the new battery was installed.
There are no applications running in the background, aside from Facebook. I know this because I'm using Advanced Task Killer to kill everything, and it keeps showing Facebook as if it's opening itself for some reason. This is another issue I'm concerned with, so if anyone knows why or how to remedy this, I'd be appreciative of knowing. Otherwise I'm likely to just delete this unnecessary application.
This is not an issue where the phone is reading an incorrect charge over an extended period. It literally is dying and charging faster than normally.
When the phone is rebooted, whether it be through "Restart" (app from Google Play), via the phone Power key, or removal of the battery, the phone drops around 20% battery life when the restart is complete. The absolute reverse happens (it gains 20%) when restarting with the phone plugged into an AC charger.
Is it possible that this has something to do with the root being outdated, or maybe something updated and I'm unaware? I sincerely have no idea what's going on, as this is the first phone I've ever rooted before. I'm sorry for the long post, but I wanted to give as much information as possible.
It sounds like the battery you bought may be defective. Send it back and get a different one.
Yea sounds like you bought a defective battery. Where did you buy it from? Talk to them and see if they'll send a replacement or get another one from elsewhere

Nook HD shuts off in the middle of use

it's been through a few rom's...
it just shuts off in the middle of use, sometimes rather quickly (30 seconds), sometimes I can get a good set of minutes out of it.
Twice it went into some sort of alarm mode (although not recently).
i'm wondering if anyone is familiar with any type of thermal shutdown's with these and/or if it's possible the proc could have been damaged.
i'm not sure how to test it, I guess I could go through the hassle of putting the original b&n fw on, and seeing if it still shuts down.

That's what I would do. Sounds like hardware to me. If stock messes up, time for warranty.

I had the same problem. My HD+ would get very hot near the bottom left corner (when the screen is facing me), mostly on the back, especially while charging. It would warm up fast for me but it would also reboot itself while idle (or when it wasn't too warm) since I think the excessive warming damaged something. Apparently, some Nooks have an overheating problem and this happened before I installed any ROM. Some of the logs I looked at said that my CPU was getting too hot and my memory was giving errors. I looked at the /proc/last_kmsg file for that and you can do the same if you're comfortable with looking at system logs.
If any of that sounds like your problem, your HD likely needs to be replaced since it is a hardware problem. Go back to the stock ROM and recovery anyway and try using it. If it's fine after a few days, you likely don't have a hardware problem. Otherwise, and especially if it gets hot with charging, you can take it to a B&N store. I did that and the only way I was able to get it replaced was by having them charge my Nook and having them feel the excessive heat coming from it. Otherwise, you can probably still go to the store, but you'll have a harder time proving that your HD reboots unless it does it every few minutes consistently (they played with mine for 3 minutes when mine would reboot every 1-2 hours).
Good luck.

I've been having the same problem with my HD+, since using CM/Liquid roms.
It shuts down with battery 0-1%, upon charging it jumps right back to 90%, .
Upon disconnecting charging cable somestimes, it shuts off almost instantaneously.
So what do you conclude from issue solved using stock?

Battery Drain

Anyone else having extreme battery drain issues?
Just started out of nowhere. I woke up, checked my phone as usual.. it was cool when I picked it up, but after 5 minutes on it, it started getting hot.
Battery is draining 20-30 in 15 minutes.. I've wiped the phone and installed a fresh ROM, both AOSP, and Sense-based. If I take it off the charger it will drain and die. I've had this happen to a previous HTC One.
Does anyone have any ideas?
It doesn't make much sense to me.. if I wipe the phone, and all it has is a bootloader and recovery, what could the problem be? I wipe the phone and turn it off, and it still gets hotter and hotter. I'm barely keeping it alive on the charger.. I can manage flashing a ROM, et.c. but if I leave anywhere with my phone and use it.. it will be dead in an hour I feel. Then it will be a brick.
Anyone?
I've tried the PWR Volume +/- too..

Batterycell problem, assuming you've always used the original charger that came with the phone?
Anyways it sounds like a warranty issue. I would return the software to stock and deliver it back saying it's always been like this. You should get a new.
Whatever you do, turn it off at night. Assuming the cells are unstable, it may actually overheat and explode. I wouldn't want to be asleep at that time if I were you...

Ugh.. this is already my 4th One in 3 months. Tired of this problem.
I'm probably going to request a different model of phone. Too many problems here.
Thanks...
Feel for you bro... I've fortunately never had any problems with mine, nor have my friends with their One's.
Well, sounds pretty bad, sorry for you
But i would sent it back (again) and make some pressure and tell them you want a fully functionally phone already! I dont know what i would do, i'm fine with mine ('knocking on the table*) but if had such issues and already had THREE phones because of issues i would go enrage lol.
Have had issues with a new laptop the first one had heating problems with graphic processor, so i sent it back, made some pressure and got a new one which is fine now
What i will say, always make a little pressure and don't say "okay" to everything you will get

[Q] Battery Drain?

Hey Guys,
Just picked up note 4 and I've noticed a severe battery drain when using the phone.
On Devik, but only with 30m 33s of screen on time the battery is down to 86%.
I've been greenifying everything I can, but still a drain.
Wondering if anyone else is experiencing the same?

Only had the issue for the first few hours because of all the downloading it was doing and I wish pushing and pulling a lot from dropbox to my phone using astro. After all the crap was installed and done moving it went to a more normal level. Mine has been unplugged for about five hours now with about the same amount of screen time and a few calls and it's still at 87%.
I hope this doesn't turn out to be a real issue with the battery or anything.
I have actually noticed the same thing. I'm guessing that's why the international version of the phone got an update so quickly. Hopefully we get it as well, and it'll be in a flashable .zip
Update isn't due out until the global launch which is the 17th that's probably when it will be released. My battery has been amazing 2.5 hours screen time and only down 30% and I watched 2 hours of ESPN first take

thats good to know..
we all know there is no way to compare or even comment on battery useage the first week or so; it takes that long for the battery to "settle" in, and, of course, until you put the damn phone down for a few hours, which wont even happen the first week, you can't really know how the battery is..Plus, OF COURSE, since no two phones are used exactly the same way, with the exact same programs, the exact same push notifications, and the exact same programs starting up automatically, my battery stats really mean nothing to any one else...
that being said, I am sure there will be dozens of battery threads here within the first few days anyways..
Note 4 Battery Drain is real
All three people I know that have the Note 4 were experiencing the same issue I had with excess battery drain with the always generic "android system" taking more battery than anything else including the screen.
I downloaded an app called "System Tuner" and looked the CPU% for Android system and it was a constant 3-4% when the phone was otherwise idle.
I found a post at http://support.t-mobile.com/thread/80459 and the person was able to address the issue by turning location off, rebooting, turning location on, and rebooting again. After I did this I saw Android system idle at ~0.6% - 1.1% instead. So far I'm getting much better battery life but I'll need to give it some time to know for sure.
Hope this helps!

Note 4
I Had one Note 4, and I charged it twice a day, and not using too much from him.
On battery since 5am and I arrive at 5pm with less than 20%.
At the place that I bought they told me that they had changed some Note 4 to the iPhone 6 Plus because the same situation!
I changed mine too, I Love android, but there is too many problem with Android, and for know I will try one bigger iPhone!
At least this one works for two days...
I love the Note equipments, I had, note 2 Note 3, and Note 4, S2, S3, S4, S5 and too many problems with Samsung, tried LG, but I don't get used to the back keys...I need the front key like Samsung and iPhone to turn on the screen!
One thing that Samsung must to improve is the fingerprint, since the one implemented on the iPhone works way better!
The iOS is way limited, but works way smooth and fast with less hardware! Lets see if I get used to it this week, if not I will return to Note 4 even with that problem...but it is an annoying problem that Samsung should resolve as soon as possible!!!
