Enabling bands from registry - Windows Phone 8 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have lumia 640 at&t. I de-branded it and installed CV version and I don't have 4G anymore. I tried a few CV's and then a t-mobile rom and it seems that only operator roms have 4G enabled. I don't want the branded rom. Is there any way to enable the lte bands from registry editor?
I also downloaded Field Test app but it doesn't display anything.

Not sure what unbranded CV firmware you flashed but the 059X153 - RM-1073 VAR LTA 7R CV gets you LTE. Also there is no way to enable a particular Band by a simple registry edit and are hardware dependent.

Sorry but, if you have that one, can you please do a network search and screen it?

I reinstalled 059X1W6 product code rom with nvi update and enabled the european bands, but it still doesn't connect to 4G. Also the LTE section in field test app is still empty.

RM-1073 doesn't have the hardware for the extra European bands. There is no way round that, and doing the nvi update from RM-1072 can make it unstable.

too bad then, thanks.

Change your Operator Name

This tweak is a neat little one that I first discovered (and posted about) a while ago now
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\RIL\OperatorNames
use the 'New' function to create a new value of type 'String'.
and
The name of the value needs to correspond to the Operator's Number (which in Orange UK's case is 23433).
Example : Indonesia Operator's "Indosat Satelindo" code is 51001

To find the Operator Number for your Operator, click here to view a list at http://kbs.cs.tu-berlin.de/~jutta/gsm/gsm-list.html
Once you've entered the name, and your alternate text, you will need to reboot to see the change.
yea, nice trick, I discovered that just yesterday, browsing my registry
Not working for Cingular Wireless
Nice. Works great for me.
Finally something else then the usual "21201" which I normally see on my display.

Reception issues with the Unlocked SM920-F on T-Mobile

So, I got the unlocked S6 off of eBay, SM920-F model. I made my research, it should work with the t-mo's LTE and all but so far it has not been playing ball with me.
First of all, even when I am on LTE on this phone, it just shows as 4G which is not a big deal, I can live with that but when I am on LTE, as you can see on the screenshot below, it does not show anything as to how strong my signal is,etc...If I am on H+ though, it does show my signal strength.
And my LTE(4G Signal) is always at about 2 bars at best, no matter where I am, even if I am in the T-Mobile store. I checked my APN settings but I don't think that's the issue.

Anyone has any suggestions?
Thanks
Someone posted in another thread regarding LTE Discovery and the like apps don't work on the international models. I have the SM-G920I which is also International minus a couple of bands from your "F" global. Anyhow, with my Cricket Wireless sim the network status (not the lte discovery app) shows signal reception and movement however with my T-Mobile sim the network status does not move at all. Always shows -113. But if you use *#0011# the RSRP will show the true results of your reception. Oh and someone also mentioned that not all Global/International phones will display the "LTE" icon in the notification section even when you are connected to LTE. I believe it was carrier or tower/band specific.

Best firmware for SM-N920C

Hi,
I'm going to get a Note 5 SM-N920C.
I'm planning to use it in Germany, because the C variant covers all LTE-frequencies for T-Mobile Germany.
But I'm wondering, which of the many country variants of the firmwares available for the N920C is the best to use in terms of:
- integration of german language
- no preinstalled bloatware/carrier or country specific apps
- and last but not least: which is the most current one that matches my two criterias above.
Thanks
Are you going to root?
Sent from my SM-N920I using Tapatalk
No, I want to use it stock
I purchased one for myself at Doha airport, and been using it with the shipped firmware (OJ5) without any problems in Norway for like 3 weeks now. No carrier junks or anything...This is the first device in long long time, I am actually considering to use without root (i normally root the first day)!
Which country variant is your firmware?
UAE
and what csc version is it? xsg?
I have the UAE variant too and I'm in the United States. I tried a lot of firmwares from the sammobile and what happens is that the rom number will change but the baseband stays the same. However, if you go to the service menu(*#*#2263#*#*), you can choose the bands that are available on the phone.

Thank you for your advice, so your xsg Firmware is without Carrier- and/Or bloatware?
Yup! This was not bound to any carrier, and i was surprised how much bloatware samsung has reduced compared to Note 4.
Ok, thank you. So I'm going to Flash the XSG version if it's not already preinstalled. Note 5 should arrive by the end of the week.

Unlocked S6 Active not connect to 4G LTE 6.0.1 v14

I just purchased an unlocked S6 active from the online market in Indonesia. everything works well expect 4G LTE network.
it only showed 4G icon behind the signal bar, after I checked the network on sim card status, mobile network type was on UMTS or HSPA, screen shot below
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",

"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
then I also check the network status via *#*#4636#*#*, it still the same, network only connected to UMTS/3G and HPSA/3.5G
when I try to change the network type from LTE/GSM auto (PRL) to LTE Only, the signal completely disappeared.
and the network name on the sim card status changed to Unknown
I also change band via *#2263# but nothing.
I'm using Telkomsel, my previous phone (Mi4c) has no problem with LTE network. Telkomsel band was 900mhz/1800+ https://www.frequencycheck.com/carriers/telkomsel-indonesia
the S6 active supported 12 band inlcuding B3 1800+ and B8 900. https://www.frequencycheck.com/models/A3aR9/samsung-sm-g890a-galaxy-s6-active-lte-a
on paper, it should be worked
Is anyone has the same problem? or any solution to solve this?
anyone?
Did you try calling your service provider and asking for the apn settings? Also check that the provider that the phone was originally on doesn't handle LTE differently, and check if your service uses VOLTE, if it doesn't then you'll never get LTE in calls at least.

Question Enable 5G NR??

Hello, my name is Matias, I am from Argentina, I have this great phone. My question is the following, in my country 5G is being implemented little by little, but until now I have not been able to see/connect to said network, the maximum that appeared on my phone was 4G+, guided by this post (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/is-your-5g-working-in-uk-on-x30-pro-china-variant.4546301/) I realized that I have the GSM/WCDMA/LTE (PRL) option selected by default and below I have the NR option (and its derivatives) searching a bit I found that the acronym NR refers to New Radio and is based on 5G, if someone could give me more info I would appreciate it.
Thanks
p.s.: in the mobile network part I have activated the 5G option (recommended)
Model: XT2241-1
Network Signal: NR/LTE/GSM/WCDMA
