Hey, this is my first thread so I have no clue what I'm doing
Anyways, does anyone know any good custom ROMs for the Galaxy S6 AT&T version? I found stuff for different carriers, but very few for AT&T and the ones I found, I didn't like.
Also, lets say I rooted my phone and installed a custom ROM (God, I hope I am using the right vocab), that would void my warranty, but what if I "unrooted" it and went back to the original software? Is there a way Samsung would know?
Sorry, if I'm speaking in layman's terms lol I switched from iPhone couple months ago, and I love what I can do with my galaxy but I just want to do more.
Thanks!!
There are no custom roms for the 5.1.1 versions. If you Odin back stock firmware Samsung won't know if you rooted

but i have flashed new rom which is gingerbread 2.3.3. But is not rooted does this means my warranty is voided? I want to send it for rma to samsung will they accept gingerbread update on device? I have att tab. Do i need to flash att stock rom?
Maybe I am confused but how can you have a gingerbread Rom if you are not rooted. Wouldn't that be impossible?
Sent from my Epic on Midnight or my Galaxy Tab rooted (feels naked without a ROM)
they (samsung centre) had a tols to detect wheter the gtab was being rooted or not, if they found it..forget about free warranty. I found this funny experience in my place, i did flash&rooted my froyo till last week upgraded to gingerbread by samsung. Then suddenly blank, i mean totally blank wont respond in all way (not even recovery mode or kiess or charging)....they told me i got my new korean battery and also new machine free, i guess i'm lucky to have it since they not found it my gtab was being rooted before
So its good to make tab brick to get new tab.why did they mention about new korean battery? I read somewhere also they replaced someones battery and said its new korean battery. And he said maybe it was chinese battery before. Anyways did you got new tab in brand new sealed box or just the tablet?
Lancelane i am not expert in rooting and stuff maybe i rooted before but how to be sure that now my tab is rooted. Bcos when i did the gingerbread it cleans everything on the tab. So i am guessing its not rooted anymore
yes, i also heard that too about the battery, most of them tell that korean battery is more beter than the china....unfortunately, we never knew when we buy the package till we have complain/claim about the battery performance it self

it doesn't matter to be rooted to flash stock rom
To the OP : is not gonna affect on your warranty at all
ok thanks hope all go smooth
In the settings, about device, does the kernel version say "rooted"?
It is easy to return to stock if you want. Why not call the center and get a definate answer, and share with us too.

I disagree. You're now running unsupported firmware on your device. I would think that would void the warranty.
Thats why I asked Tabing to call and tell us for sure. I for one want to know the truth.
If you return your Tab to absolute stock, there shouldn't be any question about warranty.

Any 'hack' eg rooting will void your warranty.
But were not sure if the OPs Tab is rooted.

I'm running custom rom. But if I flashed stock gingerbread it will not affect cuz its official firmware. (not rooted)
Sent From Hell To Take Your Soul
when you say call the center do you mean samsung support? i already sent mine now i will let you know what happens, i flashed it to gingerbread
I wanted to know if you have to unroot and restock your tab when you send a tab in for warranty service, according to samsung, and not people's opinions.
hey guys just a quick update my rooted gb 2.3.3 came back from rma and they fix the issue and restored the tab to the stock att. As I told you b4 I sent the tab with gingerbread and root. But people who can easily go back to stock should do that to be on safe side.
Thank you,Tabing. Are you going to try Overcome Jupiter?
Let me know OC jupiter is better than stock gingerbread 2.3.3 than i will try. BTW did you overclock GTab.?
I have the at&t tab stock gingerbread JQ1, with chainfire v3.3 and Dip7 kernel, and the t-mobile tab with Jupiter rom, neither is overclocked (i don't want to cook my cpu). I like the stock better.
Hi guys, i've just bought a Samsung Galaxy S Advance I9070 and I'm a little confused. My previous phone was a Galaxy Ace S5830i, I had that phone rooted (but it was too easy, just flash a .zip file) and with a custom rom.
So I have some questions:
1) For now I just want to root my new phone but the methods that I found here are not too clear to me. I first saw this method, but my firmware is not there. My phone came with I9070UBLI1 (2.3.6 GB). So i can't root my phone? my kernel isn't even in sammobile.com/firmwares
2) I want to make a backup just in case before rooting, so, what recovery should I use with this phone? cwm? this? or which one?
3) What is "binary counter"? In galaxy ace that wasn't present.
4) I saw that in samsungfirmwares site there are some 4.1.2 kernels, but they are for Rusia. I'm from Chile. So can I flash the russian kernel? will I loose my signal, 3G or something? Do you recommend upgrade to JB? with stock russian or a custom rom?
5) Do you recommend a custom kernel? which one? This looks nice
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I hope you can help me with those questions (numering your answers just like i did with my questions), I just want to enjoy a lot my new phone. :good:

Since you say that you are used to xda, i don't see any reasonable explanation for the creation of this thread!
Read the forums. All answers are in the stickies..

I read the forums, but I'm still confused, for example, for rooting, in the thread that I linked in 1) there isn't the firmware that came with my phone, so I went to here, there isn't neither, then I read this post, but to do that I need dowload my phone's firmware, but the one that came with my phone there isn't in samsungfirmares web page, so I suppose I can flash anyone for Chile (my country), there are 2, but idk if they will work, so, if I'm going to take that risk I need to make a backup first, but idk what recovery I should use.
I have a mental bootloop

I bought my phone in January.
Then became member of xda in january.
Flashed russian jb all releases as they released in February.
Rooted my phone in same month.
Started using kernels in same month.
Started tweaking in same month.
And now i am really happy with my phone's performance.
As i was new to android and xda i have done all this because i was not worried about my warranty.
In short, go ahead don't think so much.

Yes, then being rooted you can plan to customise without bricking your phone :good:
Hi.
I have a problem to identify my phone.
I was bought it few days ago, and I don't know what model it's it.
Screenshots below.
Under battery it's says that this is a SM-9005 model, but under back cover it's says that this is a SM-900A model. In download mode it's a SM-900A model.
It is a SM-N900A.. Not sure why it would say N9005 under the battery tho.. The NC2 Bootloader belongs to At&t.. You are aware that your phone has a custom Rom on it right? The Rom on your phone has is one from the International Note 3.. You can easily revert it back to stock AT&T firmware .. Seeing you have the NC2 Bootloader you can not put any Firmware below Kitkat 4.4.2 witch I believe is what is on your phone right now.. You can also upgrade to 4.4.4 Kitkat or Lollipop 5.0.. At&t Note 3 has a locked Bootloader so be careful not to flash any Rom that is not TouchWiz base or custom Kernels, Meaning true AOSP roms like CM, Slim, Paranoid Android, Pacman an so on will not work an will more than likely harm your phone.. Hope this helps..

I want the international wersion. I don't like this 4g icon. Can I easy change it? Maybe it's a custom stock rom from N9005 without at&t apps and other bloatware? I really like stock touchwiz here but it's so many apps that I will don't use it never...what can I do now? Thanks for reply
Yes you can install another international as long as it is TouchWiz. So let's find out what kinda Rom you are looking for? Do you want to stay with Kitkat Roms or are you looking to upgrade to Lollipop? And another question, Are you familiar with Safestrap recovery? After you let me know I will get you links to a great Rom an easy to follow instructions for installation..
I'm having the same thing too. I got the device in the UK but it's an AT&T model.
I've got Safestrap on my device already and is looking to install Lollipop on it. How do you suggest I do that? I really like Knox security from Samsung but it is a pain to install ROM now. And I want to install a stock Lollipop on it if possible.
Thanks in advanced.

You are a life saver. I also have the same issue as mlekopan16. I bought my device in UAE online. Reading your post I am assuming my device is also 900A. I am also attaching screenshots from my device. Request you to have a look. I was able to install safestrap on my device and it is working fine now. I want to use custom lollipop roms on my device but dont know what does a locked bootloader mean. My question is can I install custom lollipop rom and can I still use it with any other network or it can only be used with AT&T? Please advice.
note 3 upgrade n9005 which is actually n900A

hello
i am having the same problem how do I upgrade my 4.2.2 kitkat phone which shows n9005 in android and n900a in download mode to 5.0 lollipop. i wish to do an update without locking the carrier
If the phone in download says it is an n900a, it is a AT&T Note 3 sm-n900a with a locked bootloader.
You will need to look here to upgrade to 5.0:https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2703006
First of all thanks for this, My phone is a rooted LG G2 Verizon on Lollipop, I wanted to return to the kitkat for verizon version but the file wasnt on the link (Go Back to Stock thread) .. I was wondering if I can flash the 32GB Europe Open D80230b on my vs980? Will it brick it? Or return my phone into an intl. Lollipop? Because before I had a samsung s2 korean version and I flashed the intl. Jellybean rom and it worked, I'm new with LG, so I aint familiar with theirs.. Thanks in advance

Well your samsung s2 was fine with international because international roms are for outside US models. You need to flash verizon (vs980) roms for your vs980, flashing an international (d802) rom on your phone will not work well if at all. I can't tell you if it would brick your phone or not because I've never tried it and never will. So long story short, don't do it.
If you want kitkat, check out Xdabbeb's stock based rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/verizon-g2/development/xdabbeb-s-vs982-5-v1-0-0-t2975551
Follow the instructions for flashing proper bootstack and such on the OP of above thread. Bootstacks can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/ver...s980-resources-bootstacks-unofficial-t3050777
He also has a lollipop rom here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715408
