Dell Streak 7 ROM Files - Dell Streak 7

In honor of DJ_Steve returning, there is no longer a need for me to keep tight control of the Dell Streak 7 files.
I will no longer charge money for them, and they are free for download on AndroidFileHost.com
I know it was not very popular and against XDA's rules when I did this, but as I was stopping development, this was the only way I could see being able to keep a good copy of the files available, as I had no way to host them dependably.

For the 4.2.2 ROM you need a 4.2.2 gapps package. Preferably a non-neon package.
I just verified with a Google search, you can find "4.2.2 gapps non-neon .zip"

yep thats right folks, i am proud to announce my first beta of android 3.1 aka honeycomb for the streak7
Dont ask how ive managed it because its far to complicated to explain, the kernel alone is a right bodge job and just barely working - courtesy of a mate of mine for that one
ok now for the techy part
Based on Android 3.2 - 3.2 google apps working
everything works and seems stable
performance is INSANE
NO OVERCLOCK ability as yet.
fully rooted and root adb
rebased this 3.2 off of parts of a transformer rom,
usb mounting works automaticly for the INTERNAL tablet storage only, sd card you'll have to plug into pc manually or copy files to from the file manager on tablet.
internal storage is still accessable to android while mounted over usb which is a nice bonus too
screenshots work using the internal screenshot ability.... goto settings > display to enable it then long press the recent apps icon to take screenshot
What Works
Everything that i know of
What Doesn Work/Known Issues
Some reported lockups requiring reset but ive not seen personally
Video Chat works in gtalk but sound is one way, the other person can hear you but you cant hear them, havent worked out why yet
ok now thats out the way we come to the complicated part .... installing it
now this build cant just be flashed through clockwork recovery as it needs to update some critical parts of the device including the primary and secondary bootloaders. so if you try flashing this i suggest making sure streak is FULLY charged and if using a laptop make sure it is connected to the mains power also for safety reasons.
also be aware that you CANNOT just use a pkg to downgrade to 2.2.2 you have to use the nvflash tutorial found at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1018809&highlight=nvflash to go back to the 2.2.2 bootloaders and then you can place the latest update.pkg on your external sd card named as update.pkg and flash it using recovery to get back to 2.2
the software we use to do this is called NVFlash and involves booting the streak7 into whats called APX mode. those of you who have read the streak5 forums can think of nvflash as being the same sort of thing as QDLTool for Streak5.
Install Instructions:
1. Download the streakdroid zip from below, this contains all the files and drivers required to flash your device to honeycomb
2. Extract the zip to a folder on your pc - I recommend c:\flash and will use that path in this example
3. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
4. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
5. Backup your streak7 internal storage if you have not already as it WILL BE WIPED
6. Turn off your 7 and unplug the usb cable from it, then hold BOTH volume keys down and connect the usb cable, if done correctly your pc should detect the apx device. choose to update the driver, choose the second option then let me choose from a list, choose have disk then navigate to c:\flash\usbpcdriver and choose the only one it shows (Nvidia boot recovery driver for mobile devices)
7. Double click the Download.bat file in the c:\flash directory and wait a while it will take some time depending on the speed of your pc and usb ports.
8. Once the box disappears hold down power on your 7 untill dell logo appears (can take a little while) then wait for a few mins for some honeycomb tasting goodness.

It's running pretty well I must say There is a power issue though. When the streak is not plugged in and goes to sleep it wont wake(you have to pin reset) or it turns off completely. When it's plugged in this doesnt happen. Probably a voltage issue. Also after a few reboots my launcher would FC on me once right after it boots up. It didnt happen at first but now it FC's once every time it boots
Waiting for some golden honeycomb goodness.
Thank you for all your hard work DJ Steve!

What is Guardian Rom?
Guardian ROM is a custom android ROM multiple devices. The ROM is completely Open Source and based off of the CM10.1. While this build is stable because it's based on CM10.1 it is a preview so please expect some bugs, & missing features (i.e updater).
What Features does Guardian Rom have?
Kernel is hardened with SecDroid Tweaks.
ROM is patched with and includes OpenPdoird for
permissions management.
Guardian Project apps are pre-installed – These include Orbot (Tor), Gibberbot (Secure IM),
and more.
CSSimple and OStel (https://guardianproject.info/wiki/Ostel) are included as replacements to the
built calling apps. providing encrypted communications.
If encryption is enabled and password is entered wrong 10 times the phone wipes user data.
Click to collapse
Coming Soon:
Including support for Deniable Encryption (similar to Truecrypt hidden volumes).
Including GRSecurity for exploit mitigation and more secure phone.
Including SQLCipher to ensure all data is encrypted whenever possible
Including a customer “app store” for our repos.
Different lockscreen pin and Pre-Boot authentication password.
Auto-Prompt for encryption setup on first boot.

Click to collapse
How to use:
Simply flash the flashable zip through your favorite custom recovery. (TWRP is recommended as it supports encrypted devices). Once flashed you should enable Full Disk Encryption by doing the following (may very depending on device):
Code:
Settings --> Security ---> Password [enter a strong 8-16 char password]
Than
Code:
Settings --> Security ---> Encryption --> Enable Encryption
Downloads:Downloads are over here.
Please verify the downloaded file with the attached GPG signature to ensure is is a legit copy.
GAPPS
Google Apps are NOT included and before you flash them you may want to read this article.
UPDATES:
Since this is a preview I have not had a chance to remove or modify the CM Updater. Please do NOT use it as you will be flashing a stock CM10.1 build and not Guardian Rom. This will be fixed shortly.

I may use SeAndroid. Right now I am focusing on the encryption side of things instead of the exploit mitigation side. That will come later.
Been following your work on sec Droid, this looks like a very very good start! May I know which version of CM that you used for this? Or it is based on the latest repo when you built it.
Thanks!

The next build will have an AOSP 4.2.2 base with Mobiflage built in. Also Lock screen PIN and Pre-Boot PINs are now separated. So you can use a simple 4 digit pin on the lock screen and a 32 character pin at boot.
Also for more security you have to passwords one for the "outer volume" which you use as you daily usage and one as "hidden volume" which is your hidden os. You use the second for anything sensitive. That way if an attacker tries to force you to give up your password you just give up the outer volume (decoy) password. There is no way to prove the hidden volume exists.
Encryption also uses AES-256-XTS now instead of AES-128-CBC. Better key length and protection against watermarking attacks.
EDIT: If anyone wants early access please PM. The build is not ready for prime time as there is no GUI for encryption but can be used as a daily driver.

No, I'm sure you're right. But since he explicitly stated that he won't build an ('unofficial') AOKP version, I'm looking for a way to get in the favor of the securiry modifications without gaving to switch to another ROM. It's just that AOKP has so many cool simplifications compared to CyanogenMod, I'd like to avoid a switch backwards. Maybe he could create an unsupported AOKP version every month? Possible?

Or you could compile your own. Not trying to sound like a d**k but he had already stated numerous times he is only doing Cm base and yet u and others keep saying do this for aokp. There is a reason he is using cm as a base.

Yes. I custom kernel is needed at the very least. Not to mention removal of Google Apps and tweaked UI for encryption (mobiflage). All of these are OS level tweaks and cannot be made into a ZIP.

This. AOKP will NOT be supported. EVER. If anyone wants a different base download the source code from my github and compile it yourself. Build documentation is on there. Furthermore AOKP and CM10.1 are both great roms, however there are too many variables. Both have a ton of unneeded binaries and settings. We cannot guarantee security are these builds. We choose CM10.1 because it's fully open source and has fewer complications then AOKP. On NEXUS devices we are using AOSP modified with our security tweaks. On non-nexus we use CM10.1 for now for simplicity.
I am hoping with the recent Google Edition devices it will be easier to port/compile AOSP onto those devices.
TL;DR:
WE WILL NEVER OFFICIALLY SUPPORT AOKP.
Thanks for understanding. This message is only meant to stop these requests, not to be rude so please don't take it that way.

We are working toward this. The issue we are having is that while 4.3 is latest 5.0 may be just around the corner. We don't want invest a ton of effort just to have re-port everything to 5.0 if it's released 2-3 months from now. That's not to say 4.3 won't happen. It's just we are focusing on adding more security. For now stable is 4.2.2.:good:

I've found that very useful. Been able to get every AOSP/CM based ROM to boot by editing the updater-script to match the correct partition.
Has anybody noticed that photos taken with the front facing camera on CM sometimes have green distortion? That was the only bug I've found. Unfortunately, that flared up my phone OCD enough to go back to the 4.3 leak.
Thanks for putting this thread together, OP!

Here's the ROM I was messing with. I used the "old firmware" because it was the newest one when I first looked. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2349369
I've attached my modded updater script. (You will have to remove the .txt extension. Wouldn't let me upload without it.) All I had to do was edit which /dev/block the script mounts before it copies stuff over. If I recall correctly, I only had to change the dev it flashes the boot.img to. I think this might be fixed in the newest CM nightly. I've took about 20 selfies with the front facing camera and haven't had distortion at all. Before I'd get it every 3 or 4 photos.
Edit: Disregard the above. The problem is back, but I'm thinking it might be the 4.3 camera zip I've been using. Hmmmmmmm......
I think I jumped the gun a bit on rooting my I9505G right when I got it. I've never successfully rooted it, but I managed to get on the 4.3 ROM with a few quirks here and there. My ultimate goal is to get Paranoid Android with halo running, but I'll have to dedicate a day to the whole process. I'll be keeping track of this thread.

Great work Illogic I wonder why TW will not display I tried as well but I did not get as far as you mine fails during the installation.
Also did you see my post on getting Cygwin to set device mount points that in itself will speed things up

I haven't used Cygwin before. I'll take a look at it today.
Also going to mess around with TW a little more. Maybe we just need some libs from the stock 9505g rom or something.
Update: I'm afraid I may have mislead you earlier. It appears that you need more than just the updated update-script in order to get touchwiz to boot. You also need a kernel from one of the 4.3 leaks. Here's the one I've been using. (Attached) Not only does it boot, but the soft keys work and you can hear the sound effects of the lock screen. I'm very close.

Wow Illogic your close bro thanks for your hard work the libs does sound like it would cause the display problem I'm gonna play around with this too. All I did was unpack stock 4.3 and zip and deo the files with root. The problem I am having is that I am still learning U-scripts and so I cannot get anything to flash. I get failed on 0p21 even though its changed. Maybe I can pm you what I did later and get your feedback cuz your miles ahead of me
Sent from my GT-I9505G using Tapatalk 2
I've merged libs from the leaked 4.3 build into the TW ROM without overwriting anything. Didn't seem to change anything. At this point, I'm playing with magic I don't understand so not sure how much farther I'm going to get.
Would really like figure out which files in the system are responsible for the display. Perhaps we need to overwrite those files. Google is failing me so far.

Tada! :victory:
The error message goes away. Right now, the web browser force closes... that might be because of the ROM I was modifying. What I did was use the 4.2.2 kernel that shipped with the google play phones. That booted AND activated the display.

Let me know how well it works! I don't have a 2012 Nexus 7 or a Nexus 5 so all of this is theoretically supposed to work, other people have done it successfully, but I couldn't try for myself.
OK.. Hopefully next week sometime

Depends on the attack. It is mostly terminal based, but the utilities have a nice "UI". There are a couple apps that actually have a native Android UI.
Oh, some apps I recommend downloading: dSploit and Network Spoofer. They have some nice native android UIs!
Cool sounds great! I've done penetration tests on Ubuntu setup.. But I think it will be really cool to do this with my Nexus soon! Thanks again, I will return with some feedback after I get my last hardware peripheral to complete the setup.

I have gone over my Dropbox bandwidth limit, so I cannot host the files! If anybody knows of a file sharing service that allows direct links, let me know!!
I seem to have found a solution to my hosting issues! I shall push the updated script soon!
I was going to mention Google drive? Please do post your update.. I'm still waiting on the USB otg with the ability to power the WiFi adapter to get this project running. I just wish there was a simpler way, like just flashing it like a regular custom ROM and kernel.

There is someone who offered to host the files with a couple TB of bandwidth, so I'm looking into that... If not, I have a backup plan! The backup plan isn't very high speed unfortunately.
EDIT: I have been having issues with Google Drive's direct downloads. I'm not sure if curl doesn't like them or what...
EDIT 2: I am looking into making it into just one big flashable zip. I have a computer that I can have automatically build and update zips, but I need to learn how to combine zips in a script and stuff first...
So this would mean you could flash it like a custom ROM with no need of using a Linux PC? If so, that would be freaking awesome! ?
Maybe one of the devs could help you out?

Yup! Like I said though... I need to fix the file hosting, then make the all-in-one zips!
Good luck I'm really anticipated! ?

How is the progress going? @photonicgeek
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk
am i wrong. it will install multiboot then installs kali and the previous rom ?
I'm not sure.. That is why I would love to see this as a normal ROM to flash inside multirom so I can convert to F2FS as well and just boot into it when I want to use it, yet still use my daily driver.. Although, if this ROM runs fairly smooth and I can use mkernel on it I would just consider it as my daily driver.. I'm still waiting for my OTG USB with power to give this a shot.. It should be here in a few days.

i heve same problem. But stock Kindle Os. have not all of gapps capability.
Running the update from two days ago and it's running good so far. Of course, I have not tested every app but, no glitches, movies are running good from Vudu and Netflix. Thanks to those still pushing commits.

Linear - your post and report do not make sense. QA bot is not changing any URLs; I would be inclined to believe you have some browser malware that is effecting your machine and changing links on your box.
Hope you are able to get your problem squared away.

Cant restore back from Cyogenmod 11
Hello Everybody,
I keep trying to return my fire hd7 back to stock from cyogenmod 11. It keeps coming up with a provisioning fail or a boot loop. I can always get back to cm 11 with fastboot and adb but no matter what I try I cant get it back to stock. Am I missing something here? Many thanks in advance.

HWAcclerate video after a suspend
I'm running the latest nightly of CM11 (cm-11-20150112-NIGHTLY-tate.zip). If an app that does HWAccelerated video is running and a device goes to suspend, after a while the device is resumed the device HW Acceleration stops working. Tested out with MX Player. Netflix stops working after the suspend completely.
Is this a known issues? If not I can provide logs, more data and testing.
Hi, I'm on CM 11 nightly 20150302 for Kindle HD7. All of a sudden any video that i try to watch stutters. Netflix, Hulu, Youtube even streaming from my pc. What should I do?
Have you rebooted recently? If not, try that. Also, boot into recovery and wipe your caches. Both have helped me in the past.

Any mirrors available? the nightly links for cm11 is 404'ing or either giving a 13 byte file. right click then save as gives "no file"s http://download.cyanogenmod.org/?device=tate ty

Replace all whitespaces in the code segments with dots to reconstruct the proper URLs (and if the board want's me to *hitpost to get a post count of ten so it shall be).
All I could find was cm-11-20150531-NIGHTLY-tate.zip (the second to last/latest):
Code:
www ex ua/477582708431
, MD5 matches the one given on the CM nightlies download page
Code:
archive is/IpF5S
as the CM11 entries will most likely disappear there soon).
If someone should happen to have cm-11-20150607-NIGHTLY-tate.zip (the latest/last one) I would be very interested in it, too.
