Hey guys I`ve bought an Alpine and I want to put a 4GB SD Card in it??
Do you think, it works? Or is the maximium 2 GB, which works in Alpine?
CU
4 gb cards work......mostly.
I've used both the A-Data and the Transcend 4 GB cards on my Alpine. There is only one problem I've experienced. If your 4 GB card is less than half full (i.e. available storage is > 2gb), AND you've configured your camera to save the pictures you take to the SD card directly, then you may experience an error. The error simply says it can't save the SD card. If you card is more than 50% full of other stuff, then there is no problem using the camera application and saving your picutres directly to the SD Card.
I RARELY use my camera, so I really don't care. Plus, I have enough stuff on my SD card so that it never has more than 2 gb of available storage (i.e. its always more than half full). Consequently, this bug in the camera application is really not much of a nussiance.
ok, thank you very much for your reply...
It work, as I had a Kingston 4GB SD Card
without problems??
can you give me some more details about your sd card??
thank you
A 4Gb will work, but it does depend on the make - since, I'm guessing, cheaper makes use cheaper parts. Kingston and SanDisk seem to be pretty good.
I have a generic (samsung oem perhaps?) 4gb SD card and it works fine apart from it seems to be a tight fit in the slot. No problems with it as yet though.
SD card
I used a topram 4GB mini with adaptor and it did not work.
I then bought a Transcend 4GB MMC+ (plus) and it works like a dream.
I hope this helps you.
Watch out that the card is not a sdhc card. SDHC cards look like normally sd cards, but they dont' work on the Alpine.

all sdhc (high capacity) cards have "sdhc" sign so you can easily discern them
only the newest htc devices support sdhc cards
I'm using 4GB Tanscend SD Card with my alpine
and its working fine
Thanks to the advice here, I bought a 4Gb Transcend MMC plus and it works beautifully.
So much space is a real bonus as I have Tomtom maps of Europe, the whole of the USA, 6 or 7 full movies plus 20 or so albums worth of mp3's still with 500mb free for odds & sods.
Hi,
I am using a HAMA 4GB, and it is working more or less fine.
I don't know if it is a card issue or caused by the heat recently in Austria, but my Nav freezes from time to time.
I have to turn the 2020i off and then on, then it works again.
Some days ago, the card suddenly lost some data....
I have a SanDisk 4GB SD Card, however when I put it into my Alpine it doen't seem to recognise it. It just doesn't show up. Can anyone give me any hints on how to force it to look for it or something like that?
hi, i have a micro sd 4gb class 6 and my phone works fine, When i put the original micro sd 8gb class 2, the notification icon of "preparing SD" doesn't dissapper and when the screen go off i can't turn it on because never shows me the screen, only the inferior buttons lights on (nothing i can press) and i have to pull over the battery to make the phone works, i put a micro sd 8gb class 4 and the same happens, i've tried to increase the cache memory to 2048 bytes using "SDBOSTER" and nothing happens with the micro sd 8gb, but my micro sd 4gb works faster.
Can anyone help me to solve this problem? i want more space in my external memory.
I'm using original eclair 2.1-update ROM
Hey jp23,
I recently encountered this problem with my stock 8 GB class 2 card, while transfering files in bulk to the card. I use linux on my laptop and there is a known bug in one of the drivers which causes failures while tranfering large amounts of data in one go. For me it caused the same issue, and thats usually because the card is temporarily corrupted.
For me the fix was buying a microSD card adapter and formatting the card once through the computer and not the phone. I also bought a 16GB class 4 card in the process.
I suggest formatting your card via a card reader or adapter and then trying it on your phone. Although I find it odd how both of your cards can have the same problem. Hope this helps.
I've tried this before and works when the card storage it's <1gb, when i put some mp3 files and pass 4gb or more the same thing happen.
i don't know what to do...

format it with LLF low level format from hd guru, it always fix my sd card whenever it corrupted.
My card it's not corrupted, i've checked that before.
I bought a micro sd 8gb class 4 and set format as fat32 and put it on the phone, then i connected to the pc using sd adapter to put some music and videos, and when i put the sd back to the phone got the same issue...
I updated to BRAVO yesterday and have no solutions for my micro sd 8gb class 4
i have a similar issue with my 8gb stock sd card too, when i try to open the media gallery or push the media gallery button, my phone shows me that there's a problem with read/write into the sd card... =(
always it says me : "Failed to Read/Write SD Card" and also i cant record any hd video cuze when i try to do it, the video get freeze and stop to record ..
im thinking to buy another sd card, maybe 10 class ..

Here is a reason and fix for this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1262030&highlight=failed
But I do recommend getting a c10 card for the speed.
I have same problem, you should update your phone to 2.3, you will out of this.
I just purchased a Micro Innovations Wireless keyboard for my Zaurus-SL5600, but theres a problem; I dont know how to physically set it up to work. I can type with it, and the Z recognizes it fine, but the problem is that the Z has its infra-port on its side, so I cant use the stand The keyboard has it just above the w key, and I dont know how I could rotate the screen.. Does anyone have any ideas?

I am relatively new to Android and can't figure out how to install apps to my external sd card. My internal 11 GB is almost full so I want to move some larger games to the external card. Please help.
Look for apps2sd in Google play store..

Thanks, I tried that app just now and it doesn't do anything different than what the built in system tools does. It just keys me move apps on the phone to the sd card. My question is how can I move apps from my sd card (internal) to my external card to save space and have the same functionality a if the were installed in the phone. It would be cool if you could just install apps like you can on a 32 GB iPhone.

GMan901 & XDA Members:
If you're willing to shell out the cash for a Micro-SDXC card, I can show you how to swap your internal and external storage (SD cards). In my case, I started out with a 16GB GT-N7000 (International Note) and an 8GB Micro-SD card. I had apps installed on my internal SD card and would put all of my media (music, photos, videos) on my external storage (8GB Micro-SD card); but in the end, it wasn't enough. I ended up running out of space on my internal storage anyway; and considering that there's no way to replace the internal storage, I had to find another solution.
Now, on paper the Galaxy Note officially supports a maximum of 32GB of external storage. However, several sources have confirmed that the Galaxy Note (at least the GT-N7000 anyway) is capable of supporting Micro-SDXC cards of up to 64GB in size, and possibly even larger. However, no matter how large your external storage is, it's still your external storage. Now, if you were able to swap your internal and external storage, you'd have a fixed, 11.5GB external SD card that you would never be able to change, but you would also now have an internal SD card that you could increase or decrease in size whenever you like. In my case, I currently have a 32GB Samsung class 10 Micro-SD card that I bought on Amazon and configured to be my internal storage. Also, If I ever need more internal storage, all I have to do is purchase a larger card, copy all of the files from the old card to it, and insert it into my phone. It really is a great setup. If you're interested in trying this, just let me know and I'll post the necessary file(s) and instructions.
Also, it sounds to me like you are a former iPhone user. If you are, you should know that I am as well. As a matter of fact, it was the new iPhone 4S that I switched to Android from. At first, I found the transition to be..... less than smooth. However, with a little help from the good people here at XDA, I was able to not only make the transition, but also discover just how much more powerful Android is in comparison to iOS. In all fairness though, iOS is, for lack of a better term, the perfect "everyman" mobile OS. But if power, control, and versatility are your bag, Android is the way to go. So if you are in fact a recent iOS-to-Android convert, please let me know. I'd be happy to help show you the ropes.
Let me know if you'd like to swap your phone's internal and external storage; and also let me know if you've recently ditched iOS. In addition to the internal/external storage swap trick, there are a plethora of other tricks, hacks, mods, and techniques that can be used on Android to yield an almost infinite number of effects, changes, and improvements. Android is very tinker-friendly. So just let mw know how new you are to it, and I can show you all kinds of stuff.
Thank you,
Ed (Mister_Mxyzptlk)

Heck yeah, I would like to know! Yes, I was an iPhone user since 2007. A long as I don't need to root my phone out install a custom firmware, I would really like to know how to use my 32 micro sd card versus the ridiculous 11 GB the Note gives you to install apps and games. I barely had enough room to install Real racing 2.

Well, you will need to root your phone, but it's a completely reversible process. And if you do it correctly, you won't even trip the flash counter.
Anyway, we need to start with what build you're currently running. Could you check "Settings > About Phone" and let me know what build you're currently running. With any luck, it'll be a build that lets you use the ZergRush exploit. That way you won't have to downgrade your phone first.

I have the same doubt/need... I would love to learn more from your experience.
I am rooted and my build # is GINGERBREAD.XXKL7.

thanks in advance!
do you also repartition in the process of switching?
Same Problem

Root your phone, put the sd card in a card reader for your pc, make a second partition on your sd card (Fat32 oder Ext4), get the app Link2SD and your good to go.

You can by connecting your device to a pc in mass storage mode and using a partitioning software. But it's kind of tricky. I tried several times to no avail so in the end I got myself a card reader. I recommend you to do the same, they are cheap nowadays. It's far more reliable than trying to do it with your phone.

Hello,
I have a Moto G6 Play.
I was using a Lexar 128GB micro SD but the SD card does not work anymore so I bought a Verbatim 256GB micro SD card.
The Verbatim card is recognized and formated by my phone with its full capacity but if I copy my MP3 library on it, only the half of the library is usable.
I have tried to format and copy in differents ways (on my phone, on a PC) but the problem is the same.
Afterwards, I saw on the Motorola website that the maximum capacity of a SD card that works with the Moto G6 Play is 128 GB.
My question :
Is there a way to make the 256GB micro SD card to work on the Moto G6 Play?
Thanks for your help!

Have you tried splitting it into multiple partitions?
I am currently using a SanDisk 256gb MicroSD card in my Motorola G6 (non play) with no issues.
Where did you get this "verbatim" MicroSD card from? I know there are a ton of counterfeit SD cards out there right now. I know there is a fake 512gb Verbatim going around from places like Wish too. When the price is to good to be true, it's because it is. If you paid under $40, it's probably bunk. They will appear to have their stated storage, even when plugged into a PC. What they do is delete stuff to make room for the new in a cycle.
+1 here for using a 256GB card, in my case it's a Samsung Evo+ card in the "standard" G6. No partitions or funny business required, I just removed it from my Samsung Galaxy S8 that I was retiring and put it into the G6 where it's working from the get-go.
I am posting this here because I too was curious about this before I bought my G6 and was seeing conflicting advice. Personally I would agree that any issues with the 256GB card is probably down to a defective or counterfeit card.
Every model of the G6 should support sdcards over 256gb. If formatted as external storage the G6 series uses exfat, which has a volume size limit of 128 petabytes. They don't even make cards that big... yet. If formatted as internal storage I forget which it is, but it uses either f2fs which has a limit of 16TB, or ext4 which has a limit of 1 exbibyte. If you really wanted to throw a 1TB card in there, you could.

Yes, it does - apart from the obvious formatting overheads and rounding inherent to media such as this.
+1 for card being fake 256GB, I use Samsung Evo 256GB with no issues
When all else fails, be sure to use the SD Card Formatter released by the SD Association. It is the de facto standard for low-level SD memory card re-formatting.
I suggest to use Minitool Partition Wizard --> initialize SD card to MBR (by right - click on the appropriate drive) --> close MPW --> Reboot System --> Open SD Card Formatter --> full format (check the box) SD Card. This will restore and optimize blocak-size, fs-formatting and partition configuration to get the best performance. The above process also will reveal the actual size of the card.
Note: Powering of the system, disconnecting any batteries, and removing the card prior to performing above process is ideal as hardware and software can fall into non-typical states in the course of operation.
Warning: A fake card may brick by performing these process' but then again it was going to be useless anyway.
Greetings!
I purchased a new SD card from SanDisk with 400GB.(didn't use my old one on this phone because of low storage size)
My problem is that i'm unable to copy/move/delete files to my SD card.
I can't even create a new folder.
I tried several explorers and activated the permissions for writing but no success.
I was also trying another SD card but the same problem.
If I format the card over my phone as internal storage the phone freezes, formatting as external storage is working though.
I also formatted the card on my PC but still the same issue.
Remounting the card in the settings sometimes works for a few seconds.(creating a folder,etc..)
My razer phone 2 has the newest FW with Android 9.

Heya buddy,
Just a quick enquiry, from where did you purchase your MICROSD? it sounds like you may have a fake card, the memory size is worrying indication, normally cards are sold in denominations of 32, 64, 128, 512,GB not 400 GB. Have you run a check to see if it's reporting the correct capacity size on a SD card checker. Sounds like it's a fake and when it tries to format, it goes into a loop state and crashes as the card is formatted over and over and over trying to reach the stated size but never reaches it due to it not being 400gb in size.
Sorry to spread the bad news, have had the same happen to me, I am so dam careful over which company I buy my cards from.
Let me know if I can help.

Ok, that clears up the possibility of it being fake good good..
..hmmmmm. Do you have any old phones at your disposal that have a card slot? If so,. Try it in those and see if you can access it and read/write/modify files on it. Maybe format it with another device and then stick it in the razer and see if it works.
I'm sure now that cards a real deal as Amazon don't seem to allow frauds to be sold the only other thing I can think of is that it's a faulty card, it happens, they are just mass produced. Maybe a replacement if it's dudd.
I am having an SD card issue as well. I have had my Razer Phone 2 since last Monday brand new from Ebay. I purchased a Samsung 128GB class 10 (u3) SD card for it from Amazon. If I format the SD card as "internal", it shows that there is 131GB's of system files on my SD card. It shows I'm using 131GB's of storage from a total of 320GB's. The Razer Phone 2 has 64GB;s plus my 128GB SD card which would be 192GB;s total. I have tried many file manager apps, move to SD apps, etc and I cannot transfer any files. When I format the 128GB SD card as "portable", it shows the correct amount of storage space in both the phone and the card but once again I cannot transfer any files to the card. I have tried a 16GB SD card as well. The phone did recognize it and read the available storage on the phone and the card correctly. I did not format that card as I have music, photos and documents on it. I did try to transfer an app from my phone to the 16GB card and once again I could not do that. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you in advance and take care.
I have had similar problems with my Razer2. It ruined a 512g scandisk brand microsd card. Copying, or moving files, is a real problem for this device! It hangs up sometimes and ruins the files. Never had these issues, this bad, with any other phone
I have a bunch of music on my SD card, my music app sees some of them. If I move the whole folder to my phone storage, music app sees all. If I boot to twrp (per arters kernel) and try to backup to external SD card, it fails. If I save it to the phone, works fine. It's like it doesn't constantly see the SD card slot properly.
Exfat is needed with art kernel. Stock formats as vfat a old file system. I have a 400gb exfat formatted and works perfectly
I'll have to look into getting that kernal
