Bricked - Galaxy S Advance I9070 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
I was running 2.3.6, rooted and working nice but I wanted to try to install custom rom.
First I tried to upgrade to JB, but since there is no official jb for my country i followed some post. Got the firmware, started flashing with odin but odin stuck at hidden image. power off, back to download mode, tried deleting image and flashing again but no luck. Then tried to go back to official gb so i could go back to my recovered rom so I used some other files from reverting to gb posts and then odin stuck at modem. Tried to go back to download mode to try something else but then it died. No reaction at all.
Tried getting battery out and plugging it to pc and then putting battery, pc message: U8500 usb rom / no driver found.
Is there a chance?
Thank you in advance. S advance.

Its in the shop. Thanks anyway

[Q] After Odin - Kies = unregistered device & can't enter download or recovery

I originally had problems getting rooted, and posted here and got some wonderful help. Now, I'm having problems again... I flashed Cognition a couple weeks ago, and then two days ago I did Odin to stock and a Master Clear, used Kies to update to JH7, and flashed Phoenix 1.0. Then tonight I wanted to get Phoenix 1.5, so I did Odin to Stock again and a Master Clear, but when I tried to use Kies it says I have an "Unregistered device". I tried to do Odin again just in case I had done something wrong, but I am no longer able to enter download mode by holding the volume keys and plugging in the USB. I cannot enter recovery mode either. So now I'm stuck on Stock instead of updating to Phoenix. Big difference there. Any suggestions? I saw a couple threads on the unregistered device issue, but none of it made sense to me so you'll have to explain things in noob terms. Thank you!
edit: Was able to use ADB to boot into recovery and flash the original phoenix rom again, with directions from another thread dealing a similar problem. I'll just stick with that for now (or forever with my luck in flashing roms).

[Q] Trying to flash stock ROM with odin, freezes everytime

Okay, I think I *** up my galaxy s real good I think...Everything was peachy yesterday when I perfectly flashed cyanogenmod 9. Then I decided to be a retard and flash a glitch kernel incompatible with cm9. Naturally the phone was stuck in bootloop. Then I followed this (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1124391) tutorial to flash back to an official stock ROM with odin to hopefully start over. However odin fails everytime to complete the flash (it always gets stuck when flashing modem.bin) and I have to pull the battery out to start over. I now also have to force the phone into download mode by putting in the usb cable holding vol +/- followed by putting in the battery, the normal button combination doesn't work anymore.
So in short: flashed incompatible kernel with cm9, tried to odin a stock rom but odin freezes at the end for some reason.
Please help guys, time is running out because the battery isn't recognized anymore by the phone, so it doesn't charge.
Many thanks in advance.
I dont read the guide....
But do you have flashed with pit and re partition?

Yes, I did exactly what that guide said.
I will try one last resort, trying everything on windows xp instead of win7. *fingers crossed*
Don't think it's an issue with your OS, Odin is a very "simple" tool.
I recommend trying another firmware. Like a newer Gingerbread ROM. And be aware that there are different ROM's for different GalaxyS Model (like Vibrant I9000B)
Yep, you were right, the OS isn't the issue. Odin acted exactly the same. Will try a gingerbread ROM. Will I need a pit file?
Yes you need

Well...I've already tried like seven ROM's, custom and official. Odin hangs on every single one of them. And always at the modem.bin file. Could it be that something in the phone where the modem.bin has to be is damaged or something?
Edit:
I fixed it! Thanks everyone!
@nicolas_cage, I am having the same problem, how did you fix it?

Can no longer enter recovery after flashing back to stock from another ROM. Weird!

I had tried flashing the SlimBeam ROM (coming from Helly Bean, which worked great), but got the perpetual AT&T logo of death. This seemed to be an issue with several other users, as pointed out in the SlimBean thread.
To resolve this, I flashed back to stock with a Heimdall One-Click utility. Stock now boots great and the phone is functional (albeit now running a very old version of Android). I was looking to root again to go back to Helly Bean. However, I can no longer enter recovery mode with either the 3-button method or ADB. When the phone is told to enter recovery, it just hangs at the AT&T logo, just like when it was trying to boot SlimBean.
I can restart the phone into the stock ROM and I can also successfully enter download mode. Recovery just isn't happening.
Any ideas on what I can try at this point? I'm on a Mac but have access to a PC if necessary.
Have you tried flashing a stock rom with bootloaders? I hate suggesting that, but sometimes re-flashing the bootloaders makes a difference.
Just make sure you're careful to have a solid connection throughout the flash.

To resolve this said:
Which stock did you flash back to? I've only done it (but lots of times) with Odin-one-click, not Heimdal but not all the one-click packages contain CWM.
You could try one of these:

Ah, I don't remember if the Heimdall package came with a bootloader (I did this earlier today at the office, and I'm home now). When I was restoring earlier, Odin wouldn't recognize that my phone was connected in download mode...hence me using Heimdall. I'll give Odin another shot right now since I'm up and running with stock.
There are Heimdall packages with bootloaders, if you need it.
Just remember that Heimdall will write its drivers to the port you installed it to - if you plug in your phone to that port and try to fire up Odin, Odin won't see it.
I'm on a different computer than when I used Heimdall earlier, so Odin is now recognizing the phone.
New problem: The process won't get past "SetupConnection". I'm currently trying out "I897UCKJ3 Stock with BL".
Rah rah rah rah rah.

Well, I'll be damned: The Epilogue
Got it!
It was simply a matter of me continuing to try other USB ports (my computer has 4). I tried one that previously didn't work, and it suddenly did. Not exactly sure what changed, but persistence paid off! I suppose power tolerance is potentially different for each port? (...in the same vein of it's better to plug into the back of the computer rather than a keyboard. I digress.)
Anyway, after Odin both recognized my phone and got past the "SetupConnection" step, I proceeded to install "KI2 w/ Bootloaders & Boog's KernO". This included ClockworkMod built-in, so I thought it'd be a good option. Sure enough, I was finally able to boot into recovery without any sort of trouble, then proceeded to install the new CM10 nightly.
Everything works. Thanks for the replies and help, everyone!

[Q] Need help with a U.S At&t S4 Active

I bought it used and it came with Stock Android 4.2. I tried upgrading it to 4.4 and I ran into trouble. I tried using methods described in this forum to revert it back to its stock rom but I can't get it to work at all. I am using Odin but I think the MTP USB device drivers are not installing properly on my laptop, which might be causing issues with Odin. I took a screen shot of the message I got while trying to flash a stock rom using Odin. Any help would be awesome. Thanks.
Edit: The only thing I can do with my phone right now is go into Download mode. I can't go into recovery mode and it won't boot either. I already tried Oneclick_I537UCUAMF1 with Odin and I537UCUBML2 to no avail.
UPDATE: just tried the SGH-I537UCUCNE3_v4.4.2_ATT_ALL and that seems to have done the trick.

Help on S10!

I was running the current version of Android 10 and wanted to downgrade to Android 9. I went and got the correct version of the stock rom from Sammobile and used Odin to flash it. The cable got unplugged while it was going through the flashing process and now I'm stuck on the option of connecting my phone to smartswitch to restore from backup, which I was able to. I'm also able to go back to the screen where it says "downloading, do not turn off target and I see this.

Any help on this is greatly appreciated before I go to ubreakifix for this. And my phone is still under warranty.
Have you tried using the firmware that was already on it before you tried flashing it.also try going into download mode using the button combination

Go back into Download mode and reflash with Odin the firmware including HOME-CSC, hopefully your data will be intact
