[XT1068] Dead Phone's Club (Moto G 2014) - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

In last couple of months many people hard bricked their phone while downgrading.
i created a post 1 month ago about my bricked MOTO G 2014. http://forum.xda-developers.com/moto-g-2014/help/xt1068-hard-bricked-downgrading-help-t3314941
So, i created this post for all those user's who got a dead phone. Comment here. so that developers can see our problem and find a solution.
If anyone have any solution please comment bellow. :good:

I wish I had took a look here before tried to downgrade from marshmallow :/

There's no solution... It's up to Motorola to provide a blank flash image, and they don't want to.

I just want to say my phone is working and better than ever.

Very useful post.. thanks. :good:

Yep, same here. I updated from Lollipop to Marshmallow, and then I wanted to go to back to KitKat. But since I downgraded, my front camera wasn't working. I didn't care at first, but then it started bothering me. I went to Google Play and downloaded Lollipop again (via OTA). In the middle of installing it, everything froze and now my phone's dead. (pc won't even recognize the device). I sent it to technical support and they said the circuit board has burned, and the only thing to do is to replace is. and it costs about R$ 250 (Brazilian currency).

+1 on the club...

hope they find anyway to boot phone up again XT-1063

faulty pixels

I got my SGS a couple of weeks ago. Haven't used it much yet. Anyways, I left if off the last three days and turned it on today and i notice that there is a continuous vertical line of faulty pixels! It is quite centrally located. I have just flashed it with the new fw last week, other than that I haven't done any modifications.
Is that an hardware or software error? How could that have happened? Any suggestions what I could do?
Regards
edit: can't post a pic since the only digicam I got atm is the one on the Galaxy...
edit2: sorry, this slipped into the wrong section, wanted to post it to General.

it sounds like a hardware problem, what you could do is factory reset the device and see what happens, then you can be quite certain its not a software problem.
For me it doesn't sound like a ROM issue, but others can answer that better than me.

But it could be... I'd try to restore it to stock as much as possible, to see if the problem persists, and obviously also to be able to return it in conditions that won't void the warranty.

That's the thing... the phone was branded. Tried a factory reset but it didn't help. I haven't found the providers fw online, as expected. If I will return it I will go there with my phone turned on and hope they won't notice. I got ahold of the original fw-info, I guess if I would be able to re-flash it it won't help me though... damn it

If only you had followed all the warnings saying to never downgrade....
I'm sorry this happened to you, but let this be a lesson to all others: LISTEN!!! Don't attempt to downgrade! It is literally posted ALL OVER this forum. Don't do it unless you don't value your phone and/or you have plenty of cash lying around to buy another one.
Unfortunately, I don't have any suggestions for you EXCEPT to maybe try this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/droid-ultra/general/droid-ultra-maxx-brick-recovery-t2830806
But....that also appears to require QHSUSB_DLOAD to be working as well. At this point though, since your phone is useless, can't make it worse! Although I'll give the disclaimer anyways: DO THIS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
Good Luck

nice find! haven't seen that one.
OP, also if you can modify/get your hands on one of these, you may have more options:

hard brick moto x sprint
I heve samу problem hard brick moto x sprint. after 4.4.2 firmware go to 4.2.2 and after receive ota update phone restart and hard brick.
You guys can try here...

You really need to do some research before attempting things. Moto X's bricking after downgrading is a well known issue. A search on downgrading would have warned you of this quickly.
Hopefully you can work it out. And hopefully this will remind others what can happen.

[Q] Android L on LG 950 or any G flex model

Well given that its going to release officially Nov 3rd are there any specific needs or shall i say requirements to get the room build or ported over to our devices.
I saw a couple things stating it would release about the same time with the G2 Lollipop update Q1 of 2015
Sent from my LG-LS995 using Tapatalk
Dang and we just got custom recovery on KitKat.

Its coming. Its being tested and from what I hear there are no issues so now just waiting on the "bump" team to update the site with everything we need to install and build ROMs compatible.

I'm due for an upgrade on the jump plan and have been for several months. I really like the oneplus 1 and the g3 but I can't seem to give up a phone that has a damn near unbreakable screen and draws so much attention to its sexy curves to go to a phone that I'm sure to break the first drop it has. But I've made up my mind and I'm going to eventually go to the nexus 6 (with a two foot leash attached to my wrist so it can't make it to the ground)

haha yep. or you could just go with a ballistic case. when i was doing mechanic work with my g2 wrapped in one my phone would fall from 10-15 feet high,i would constantly roll over it with my body, it would fly outta my hands and the phone was still perfect. im debating to spend another 700 on a phone right after im paying 700 for my flex. its still in the air, but, i want a nexus 6 very badly.
yeah since the final set of code is released today and ppl can start building i wonder who is gonna come out with a working rom first on the flex . pluse i havent been able to root my flex since its update to kitkat sucks but waiting on something that will work fully on it

I flashed SuperSU from recovery. But I've gone up to KitKat unrooted and used towel root with no issue.

I have a issue then when I connect my phone to my computer it stays on PC software it won't let me change it to mtp or anything else im sure I have the proper drivers installed and I even factory flashed the phone back to stock
Install the software and it may let you change then. Also before connecting go to settings/PC connection/select USB connection method and select the method you want then back up one page to settings/PC connection and uncheck "ask upon connection" so it doesn't give you a prompt asking what to do.

UPDATE: Worked for me just fine thanks for the heads up man really appropriate it.

The LG gPad 7 V400 Lollipop 5.0.2 is out!! !!

I just checked and it's there
Yes man!
I just received the OTA notification 20 minutes ago and I installed it immediately! Now the tablet is updating apps, still a few minutes..
I have LG G Pad 7 WiFi only..
I can confirm, I've installed update yesterday. The only problem is the lack of space on the device (I had to uninstall many apps and clear temp files for update to proceed to the end), but this is minor issue, and i knew about this (change to ART). I was really hoping for OTA to at least 5.0, so i'm very happy with my choice right now (other option for me was Dell Venue).
Yeppa! Update completed, Lollipop on board!
First (negative) thing I noticed is an issue that also appears on LG G2 (I updated it 2 days ago): clearing Recent apps requires quite a second.. I can clearly see the round progress bar in that second.. Don't know why but I hope they'll fix..
A question to who is still on KK: how much physical space does System Data take? You can see it from Settings / Storage / Misc. Lollipop takes 4.20 GB, but I don't remember how much did KitKat..
Thanks guys..

3.90 GB on KitKat, so it looks a like a minor increase. Downloading Lollipop OTA right now :victory: I honestly did not expect an update for this device

why not? I did, and it was one of the reason why I bought it! LG always said that the entire G Pad tablet line would have received Lollipop, and they keep their promise!
Funny for me was that usually I always read OTA / firmware update online and then receive it or manually flash (just like for example Nexus 7, LG G2, OnePlus One, all the Samsung Galaxy line etc): this is maybe the first time (except the Froyo/Gingerbread days) the OTA notif really surprised me!! Funny!

I bought it on sale and I watched good reviews, so I didn't buy it expecting an update.
Also, since day 1 it felt like a second line: there was the Pad 8.3 and 10.1, which were "famous", and then this 7.0 popped up with no publicity at all. Not really available almost anywhere (Spain), not many news or forums about it, so I didn't expect to have an update for a non-famous product.
And finally, it works soooooo good I didn't need an update. But of course, I can't resist an update, even less if it's Lollipop (the reason I bought my Nexus 5).
I check once a month anyway, and I googled V400 lollipop an hour ago just "for fun" and I saw this thread, and I was like :cyclops:
Anyway I'm really glad LG kept supporting it!

Hey. Just download LG PC Suite (used Windows) and click Check Updates on the pc suite with the tablet connected. The Suite will show you the update after a few minutes and will update via usb.
It's updating apps on bootup now, but it's lollipop and doesn't seem to have wiped (based on the number of apps being updated).
Good luck

just like me, same history.. except that on November (or maybe October??) I read news about LG explaining which phones and tablet would have been update.. the G Pad 7 was there!!
I have to admit that I never loved LG beforethe last 2 years: then I bought the G2 and I started to reconsider the thing.. the G2 is a superb device! Then LG released G3 G Flex 2, G Pad 8.3 and a few entry level phones.. What I still like is the fact that all the LG smartphones look totally different from the competitors ones, even the Bello, Joy entry entry entry entry level devices! And that narrowed bezel on the G2? Amazing!!
And so, this is the story about I started to lie LG!
And when two months ago we decided to buy a new tablet choices were he Asus MeMoPad, Asus FonePad, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 Lite and G Pad 7. It was not a real matc, no way! G Pad 7 won!

Since I just use it to read some news in bed and not so much, didn't keep updated on it, as I do with the phone.
But I agree with you. I had the LG Optimus Black and after it didn't love LG. Looked cheap and bad. But these last couple of years they are doing great. These tablets and the G3 generation is just awesome. I fell in love with the G3S (G3 mini) although for update matters I ended up with the Nexus (which is LG lol...)
Lollipop for LG7 V400
Great I got lollipop by flashing the firmware again because of root in Android Kitkat but now I lost my root and powelroot doesn't work in Lollipop .
Anyone has a solution????????????????
Thanks Guys for your help

Moto G2 Hard Bricked

well... I killed my phone
I was trying to install CM13 on xt1069 but it doens´t work because my bootloade was too updated (I didn´t know that **** could happens).
Then I had installed a KK rom, at least updating to Lollipop.... Yes I´m dumb
Now... Any idea?
he doesn´t turn on, blink, get on bootloader... but my pc recognize him when connected
My phone got hardbricked due to some unknown reasons and I searched internet for like 10 days and came to conclusion it needs blankflash file which is not available, motorola will not release it and pushing customers to get the motherboard replaced. Only chance available is to get it flashed by JTAG.
You can contact them JTAG on FB or JTAG Google+. You may also try this contact from Youtube.
NOTE: Above options are applicable only if you're an Indian. If you're from other country you would need to find JTAG service provider of your country.
