Low light - Xperia Z5 Real Life Review

At the club, at the bar, or just in your mom's basement, nighttime is when you come out to play. Rate this thread to express how the Sony Xperia Z5's camera performs when no or low light is present. A higher rating indicates that the camera sensor "sees" lots of light in dim conditions, and that the resulting photos have minimal noise. A higher rating also indicates that when the flash fires, the resulting photo is evenly-lit without any bright spots.

Yea it has been long time after message, it is wrong It is "mode"

Anyway I would love to see how Z5's camera performs in low light condition with the new Nougat 7.1.1 update, does it result better picture in Nougat or it's just the same?

Im use on low light, manual mode and EV +0.7 or 1

It's still great in daylight, but in low light it's just horrible, I think those guys of SONY hasn't improve the camera of Z5 in the nougat software update. What they want is buy the new xz premium, lol. So Z5 and the remain Z series won't receive the next android update, all the x series will done.

Yes, indeed. and much more noise on low light environment .
Honestly everything you linked are of totally different scenes taken at different points of the day it's very hard to do a comparison.
another example, at night

Yes, I confirm. Detailing has become better at night, but at other time...
I'm at 4.2.2 and have taken about 100 pics. I can't decide if they are better or worse. Outside pics seems to be even darker and in pics with both dark and light scenes there seems to be even more difficulties to choose the right spot to focus on, they tend to be either to dark or light.
I'll listening in in this thread before deciding this month Android version
Skickat från min HTC One via Tapatalk 2
I am also unsure. Have the impression that the 4.2.2. cause a lack of details in the pictures and I have problems with focus in the dark.
Gesendet von meinem A510 mit Tapatalk 2
After viewing the samples, I got an impression that pictures are noticeably brighter on 4.2.2.
At the moment I'm glad that I was patient and didn't throw myself into updating.
Better to wait.
Maybe ROM 2.17... will have a different version radioROM (HBOOT) than 1.29.....???
You guys are crazy. They've turned down the crazy over sharpening over contrasting algorithm in the new update. Shots are so much more lifelike and less noisy.
Some seem like they have less 'pop', but they are much more accurate and realistic.

has anyone in here called HTC because of the faulty camera module and got its mobile phone exchanged to a new one with better camera quality?

I did, but I think it was for a different problem than what the OP si experiencing (I think). I had a problem with blue/red/purple noise in low light scenes. Took the phone into service and got a replacement. Here is the problem I had (and others as well) along with before and after photos:

Impossible. Night will always try to reduce the ISO but in return uses a slower shutter speed. If Night Mode isn't doing that, it means it isn't dark enough for Night Mode to use it's full capabilities.
Take a picture showing the problem, post it here.
Is it like this? If yes please mail or call HTC about this problem. HTC already recognized the issue they just need more feedbacks and is collecting some more info to narrow down the issue.

Here's a quote of their response.
Hi everyone. I'm going to do my best to raise this issue, but in the past I've been told that unless something is a "call driver" (meaning people are calling into tech support about it) the issue doesn't always get enough attention. My suggestion would be for everyone affected by this issue to call HTC tech support in their local country and file a report on this problem. I wouldn't suggest sending in your phone for repair (I agree with the notion that this is a software issue) but get it on record as being a problem.

It's seems that I have a problem with Auto-iso cuz at night it always took a picture at 1600 even if there is a street light . I'll install ARHD Rom maybe it's a software problem.

Ridiculous imaging experience, how to fix?

I hate my SP's camera. Picture looks ridiculous when i zoom any picture that taken from my SP.
Now feeling jealous to see a lot of sample image captured from SP. Like, check this thread- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2755010
Can anyone please tell me how can i fix that issue or improve camera quality, currently i'm using eXistenz Ultra 3.3.0 ROM & Xperia M Camera Mod by niaboc79.
I use manual mode to take that image on below, please zoom in this photo to see how Ridiculous that is-

I know optical zoom is better rather than digital zoom.
Check this(taken from my phone)- http://www.arif-khan.net/xda/sample.JPG
& also this(taken from another SP)- http://www.arif-khan.net/xda/DSC_0811.jpg
Check quality, Zoom-in etc you can feel the difference.
But is it the phone or the rom?
Could try this Xperia M cam port by dipesh, to see whether any difference..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2701096
Seems like having better focus than stock.. one problem though: FC when manually setting iso.
Better keep a cwm backup if you're gonna try this.. I don't know whether it works on existenz rom.

Do i have a faulty camera on my z1?

Hello, please check these photos taken with
my z1, and tell me if my camera is faulty or not?
The sun was almost down at that time but still bright enough for a nice picture in my opinion

I had my nokia n95 on my other pocket and it's photos had more detail and quality
You might be in high iso mode. Check your camera settings and bring ISO to auto, and exposure and focus to auto. If auto mode still gives you ugly photo, make ISO to 100 under daylight. Also see if exposure compensation setting is set to zero (middle). See what happens.
And also, you might be in night mode. That makes overexposed photos in daylight.

I used manual and auto and both came with same quality
Auto uses multi meterimg and gave me very dark images
So i chose manual, single autofocus and center metering
Iso and exposure and every thing to auto
Hdr off and stabilisation off
Under sun light i get good photos
These photos were taken at light condition similar to very early morning
I think foliage and trees are weak spot for this camera
Try using center weighted metering. What do you mean multi meteribg? Spot metering creates overexposed highlights when the center of the image is of dark color.

Lens flare

Well, it seems that not only the Pixel suffers from lens flare...
Today I tried my op3t camera for the first time in low light condition and... the flare is there.
I'm attaching a picture, you can clearly see the 5 spots on the left of the lamp.
Does it do the same to you? As far as I understand it's a common problem between cameras.
Any way to avoid, or at least reduce it?
Thanks

There are some camera apps (like DSLR) where you can change the ISO, most of the time when you change to a high ISO value the flare would be less seen

Just tried it and it works. The thing that bothers me is that everytime there is an artificial light there is a flare...
I'm not an expert here but I think a lot of phones exhibit this. My wife's s6 edge plus has weird light retractions in low light.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3000 using Tapatalk
Yes. Most phones have it. It largely has to do with the lens attached to the phone. I've had more success on phones such as the Asus Zenfone 3 Ultra. Use such phones and go into manual mode. In all cases I was able to eliminate the lens flare. Too bad I had to switch to the 3T which is a better phone but poor shooter. Can't find a way to eliminate it there yet.
You captured a UFO! No way! Lol. Anyways my experience with low light conditions has been great. This is at a party. So clear I can zoom in to the musicians faces clearly absolutely 0 editing. With Snapseed I can lower the brightness of the lights overhead
