I have a Pumpkin MTCB running 4.4.4 and a ROM from Alex, its great!
I have a USB webcam that I use for Skype, however Skype displays the video as rotated in a portrait orientation, when the webcam is providing video in landscape. Is there anyway I can rotate this system wide?
Thank you!
Is there a initial camera orientation setting in a Android file somewhere I can edit to do this?
Bump
If you are rooted and running xposed, you could try the " per app DPI " module to force Skype into portrait mode.

Hi i was looking into the files of touchwizlauncher and widgets and all apks have landscape images, so it should support landscape? (JPH/JPC/JM8 i checked).
Even on JPC i had landscape for just a moment when i was coming back from a landscape app (couldnt reproduce it).
So there must be some setting to enable landscape...
is anyone interested and capable enough to look into this.?

Decompile the apk and check its manifest, does it rotate based on user,sensor...etc
You could maybe use this bug to determine what is being enaled to allow landscape.
I cant post a link as I'm a new user but the thread is on this site and the title is "Galaxy S i9000m touch wiz landscape bug"
The camera often converts my shot, which is in landscape, to portrait. I've even forced it to landscape mode, but it still switches it to portrait. How do you fix this?
Are u sure your positioning your device correctly.

150% sure. Sometimes it converts my landscape shot upside down. To fix it, I have to use the camera upside down. When it converts my landscape shot to portrait, I'll try shooting in portrait mode, but it keeps my picture in portrait. It's completely screwed-up.
Here is what I mean:
When using portrait and launching an app that forces landscape (most games, for example), it always defaults to 90 degree rotation (ie. Turning the phone counterclockwise). With the SGS in a lot of games this is uncomfortable when plugged in because of the USB port's location. If the other landscape orientation (270 degrees I guess, or turning the phone clockwise from portrait) were used the cable would be on top and you could rest your hand beneath it. It would also have the advantage of your hand not covering the light sensor and causing brightness changes.
So my question is, is there an app that can force this globally, or maybe a configuration change I've missed?
I dont think thats possible
but i guess a software can be built cosidering the fact that our captivate supports landscape in both directions in other apps and while reading and browsing on net
I've seen posts about orientation settings in build.prop but they were all froyo. I've also read that since gb there is a screenOrientation= reverseLandscape option for individual apps' AndroidManifest.xml file, so editing them individually should work. Just makes me think there must be a value somewhere that defines what the default landscape orientation is, just don't know if it's compiled or easy to modify.
If anyone is interested, there's an app on market called Orientation Control that can force orientation, even has a tasker plugin. I created a tasker profile for apps that force landscape and used the plugin to force reverse
landscape instead, then an exit task to set it back to portrait. Works perfectly

I am having a real pain attempting to setup touch profiles for sixaxis on the Note.. I can't.
The basic procedure starts with importing a screen capture as background, and it as at this point that it fails... No matter in what orientation or how i try, the screen capture ALWAYS shows portrait mode... so it is not possible to hold the Note in landscape and create a landscape touch profile.. in line with how the game will be played..
any advice?
Note (non-Samsung type note):: I am rooted, have the PS3DS3 paired and working fine on a N64oid map created by others.. simply unable to correctly follow steps on the Note to create new profiles
I had that problem on my Atrix. What I wound up doing was rotating and resizing the image on my PC to compensate for the app forcing everything into Portrait view.
Thanks for this tip.. it certainly worked.
[EDIT 7th April]
Thanks to Scottmog in another thread, a cleaner solution is as follows.. goto settings>edit background>tap middle of screen.. it is a rotation button...

Whenever I switch to record video, the phone switches to landscape mode and I can't switch it back to portrait. Video I record holding phone in portrait orientation plays back sideways. It's it just me?
No, my phone exhibits the same, I think it's a limitation of the Sony video player.
I use QuickPic and then run the camera from within the app, it allows me to record video or still shots in either portrait or landscape then play them back in either mode with functional auto-rotate.
Hopefully Sony will update their video player to use auto-rotate, but more likely one of the talented developers from xda will produce a mod first.
Hope this helps

Use any other player, asd999 Xperia z player only support landscape

MX Player works great with HW decoding and have a screen button allowing you change the orientation. I hope Sony changes it in the next update to solve that problem.

Let me explain... The stock camera app supports only landscape video recording. You can use it in portrait mode but the video will be sideways. This is by design like all the cameras and phones.
