NFC is market dependent. I am holding on to a 8gb Romania set. There is no NFC present.

Actually, it doesn't have an ambient light sensor...
The two dots seen at the left of the speaker grill are just the proximity sensor.

The features and menus seem to be identical - I don't have the S3, but I checked a couple of youtube videos detailing the camera interface and it seems to be the same. Yes, you can also change the icons around to your tastes.
Is the Galaxy S III mini's bootloader locked?

Hi, what is the specification of processor U8420? What are the differences between U8420 and U8500?

The U8420 is just a custom 8500... I couldn't see any differences between the two in all I've read.
The U8420 packs two Cortex-A9 cores clocked at 1 GHz and a single-core Mali 400MP GPU.
Thx a lot.:good:
I still can't decide which one to choose: S III Mini or S Advance. What would you choose, and why?
I chose the S III Mini because it's newer (so I think it will get more official updates than the Advance), comes with Jelly Bean 4.1.1 already installed, has 1 Gb of RAM... and because I kinda like the design. Even if I'll probably install every custom ROM made for it, it's still good to have official updates - drivers for example are still closed source and there's only so much the future devs will be able to do without the proper drivers.
The S Advance on the other hand has less RAM (768 MB) and doesn't look as nifty. The only trouble is that I don't know how well supported the S III Mini will be (here on XDA I mean), since it's been a month since its release and still no quick root method available. The bottom line is: if you're not that into installing and testing out custom ROMs, kernels and other stuff like this, then don't worry and go ahead on the S III Mini. Else, look around, see what the guys on the S Advance threads are doing and make a more informed decision.
But, of course, if there's a big price difference then the Advance will be a better deal.
Thanks for the exhaustive answer. I'll take S III Mini.

Put your phone in USB Debugging mode and send this command via ADB:
Code:
adb reboot recovery
Or, install Terminal Emulator on your phone and write:
Code:
reboot recovery
Please note that faria and brokenworm are to thank for these methods, they're the ones who posted them in the Rooting thread.

Seriously? Devs are not assigned.... They start developing on the device they have. What do you think? It's a paid thing? Read the XDA rules and manual again and again...
Do we have usb on the go support on this phone?

[Q] A question about the Xperia Z

Hey everyone! Since the Xperia Z hasn't any camera swich like the Xperia ZL or the Xperia Z, I was wondering if it has any quick start mode like an icon on the lockscreen which works when I have a code as unlock method.
Thanks in advance for any replys.

Yep there's a camera icon on the lock screen as well as a music icon. I think you can change these in the options also.

Yeah, I know they are there but I was asking if they are there too if the phone has a code as unlock method, because usually all quick start icons dissapear on Android when a code is selected as unlock method. I had the Xperia S with a camera switch which worked to take photos even if the phone had a code as unlock method.
As far as I can tell the pin unlock, face recognition and the pattern unlock are all google lockscreens hence you won't see any customizations on them. As a matter of fact on HTC phones when you select any of the 3 you would end up having 2 lockscreens to unlock. 1 is the sense lockscreen and next would be the one you've selected( pin unlock, face recognition or pattern unlock)

I think it is a good feature because say for example your watching a movie on your phone and you see a funny face or a nice car or whatever. You can take a pic/screenshot of it. I know you can do it on HTC One s/x, GN2 and now S3 since update to 4.1.2

Agreed! It is a great feature, I just hope Sony allow a higher megapixel when recording for the camera as 1mp isn't ideal!

Isn't that the "stock android" way of taking screenshots since 4.0 ? I think it's present in most 4.0+ phones, even with TouchWiz.
So sad that there is no Camera button .. but anyway its a really nice smartphone in my opinion..

[Q] Requested Camera APK

Hi, everybody.
Could somebody please be so nice to take the Time to upload the camera APK from the Xperia Z?
White you do this, please mention the Android Version.
I prefer the APK from Android 4.1.
If possible, please make the APK installable without Flashing.
Thank you very much.

You won't be able to install it as normal Apk because it's a system one. You can only install it on the same firmware it came from for security reasons.
Also, the Camera from 4.1 will *only* work on Android 4.1 firmware for Xperia Z. Anything newer or different and it needs to be ported, because again - it's a system app.
In short, what you are asking for is not as simple as you think.

Yes i know.
The Oppo Find 7 Camera Application (DeOdexed) works on a Note 3 with Android 4.3, but the one from the S4 Zoom and Note 2 always says:
x App was not installed

Without mentioning any reason. It simply says, that the app was NOT installed (one word too much)
Lol yep. The Sony camera has a lot of dependencies, it ties into the system pretty tightly. Needs to be "ported". Are you on an Xperia Z or different device?

My device is a Note 3.
But it's just interesting to see that camera app on the Note 3.
I also wanted to try, if the limitless burst shot and HDR Video works.
The Oppo Find 7 Camera, with it's 50 MP HD-Images (which beat up the M9's Camera, but don't reach the Lumia 1020 or a Lumix FZ1000), works on the Note 3.
With that HD-Images, the detail amount lies between G4/S6/Note4 and Lumia 1020. (It's like 930 or so...).
But the colour quality of S6 and G4 is slightly better. The S6/G4 also have a little bit less noise than this HD-Images.

Colour adjustments can be done after flashing a custom kernel. Use an app to adjust RGB and gamma values after that.
@Tommy-Geenexus Zombie kernel for example, which is pre-tuned gamma (and it is good )
Yeah you'll have to unlock boatloader and use a custom kernel like Zombie to get a solid result.
Sent via Tapatalk on my Xperia Z
Hello, could anybody provide a link to video or screens which compare colors/contrast of this kernel with stock one? Thanks.
Odoslané z C6603 pomocou Tapatalku
Screens wont work because they will be identical. Recording a video or taking a photo is, but do you really expect us to go to the trouble of.getting a second camera or phone and do this just for you? Maybe someone will but I wouldn't expect it.
If it troubles you that much, you can unlock boatloader and try it yourself.
Sent via Tapatalk on my Xperia Z
Of course I dont make anybody even to do it nor especially for me.
I just thought somebody who read about it could also share some existing comparasion if there it is.

[Solved] Port Bravia Engine from SONY

Hello everyone !
Before buy my Samsung Galaxy S6, i had a Sony C5 ULTRA.
The Video quality was AMAZING, but no way to root it :/...
So i've bought the samsung galaxy S6, and i find that it's an incredible mobile phone ! But the quality of the video was better on the C5.
I think it's Bravia engine ! Someone can port it ? or was it ported already ?

Nobody uses Bravia anymore. It was the most useless feature ever. The main difference was a sightly more saturated image over the standard one. You can have the same oversaturated output by tweaking your AMOLED panel in Settings》Screen. By the way the only way to install bravia engine is by flashing that file. I can't guarantee that will work because the last time I've flashed it was in 2012 for my Galaxy Note running Android 4.0.3. However, you can try it by making a backup so you have something to restore if anything goes bad.
I flashed a bravia mod two days ago as requested by a user, to incorporate into my rom. Though I never noticed any improvements so ditched it. Our video experience is fine on the s6

Bravia Engie is not for 4+ ROMs, they are useless for those version, the egnine is old, even SONY don't use it anymore, it's incorporated on the graphic drivers for the xperia line.
