I had the OTA notification and the install failed multiple times. I tried to get the update via Smart Switch and it doesn't show. I can't select my S6 Active as a target either under preferences. It definitely recognizes my phone as I've done a back up. Any reason the 5.1.1 update isn't showing up any longer?
Att phones can't be updated through smart switch. Take it into a Samsung experience store(usually in bestbuy) or an att store. They can update your phone for you
Will do, thank you!
Hi I have a Galaxy S6 G920A and in applications manager...running there is an AT&T Software update and to the left is an exclamation point and up and down blue and red arrows. The Stop and Report option are greyed out. It's 5.7MB and under services it says DMService. Under processes it says com.ws.dm and Main process in use.
I took it to the AT&T Warranty place and he did a factory reset deeper than I did, which he said erases the registry. He said it would clear this frozen update.
Then without checking since I couldn't log into my Samsung acct I left the store but when i got into the Phone the update is still there.
How can I stop this update, or go back to an earlier update? I was told varying answers to this question by several different stores: that I could plug my phone into a computer (never done that, sounds scary) and revert it that way; and that I couldn't go back in time i.e. updates.
I was having very poor cell phone signal and Warranty guy said it was because I had Enhanced LTE selected. So I turned that off and am trying to call people to test, but in the meantime I'm writing you good people to see if anyone can help. Thanks a ton for reading this and helping.
Maybe do i clear a cache? How do i do that?
I bought a S6 Active on eBay and wanted to take it to Marshmallow. I followed the guide in this forum and it upgraded without any problems. I'm using a very unique application which is giving me problems and I'd like to know if it's related to the fact that this phone is not on MM and not lollipop.
Is there any way to downgrade the phone back to it's stock firmware? I looked in smartswitch under Emergency Software Recovery and Initialization (device initialization) and it says "SM-G890A" does not support initizlizing, plesae contact our service center". So it does not look like smart switch will bring it back to stock.
I looked on sammobile and they don't appear to have any firmware for the S6 active.
Is there a way to bring this back to stock? If not I will leave it at MM (which I like) and try to fix my application some other way, but it would be really helpful if I was able to jump back to lollipop.

Stock was Android L. or Lollipop.
It seems your going about this in a more troublesome way.
1. Just ask the app creator about compatibility with Android M. and your device.
2. Ask around on the forum if others are having a similar issue who would be using the app.

The App is Blackberry BES 12.4 with Android for work. I have an open ticket with Blackberry. I'm trying to determine if the marshmallow update on the S6 Active is causing a disconnect problem that does not appear to happen with other Android hardware. Since I put marshmallow on hardware that does not officially support it I'm the one that might be in the wrong, not the app. If I could go back to the official S6 Active release (lollipop) than I could determine if the marshmallow update is causing the problem.
Is there any way for me to return to the lollipop version for the S6 Active? Thanks,
Roveer

Well, I flashed it back to 5.1.1 with Oden. I'm going to try the app to see if it works correctly then move to marshmallow (official) and see what happens. I'm wondering if the version of 6 was different than what AT&T is sending down to phones. I would guess it probably is in some ways.
The issue I was having with BES has to do with the special BB VPN breaking down after a period of inactivity. Even after turning off all the doze options. looking at the logs it seems to be a problem accessing the keystore. I noticed that when installing the BB app on 5.1.1 that when it goes through the encryption process (which is required) that it made me use a 7 digit password with one letter and one number. When I did this on 6 I was able to use a PIN (4 digit). I'm thinking that may have caused some sort of problem with the crypto but I won't know until I verify that the app is working correctly on 5.1.1 then I'll move forward.

So, after I put the phone back on 5.1.1 lollipop and reinstalled the BB software the VPN stayed connected unlike what I was seeing with the Marshmallow release that I installed following a msg post here on xda. The next day I received an carrier update msg saying the phone will be updated to 6.0.1 and for some reason the phone automatically installed the update. When I looked at the phone this morning it was updated to Marshmallow. So far the VPN seems to be staying connected but it will take a few days for me to fully determine that it is working.
I guess this problem was related to a non-official release

Most likely you were on a Beta release of Marshmallow since you were able to roll back to 5.1.1

Well, now that I am on the official carrier release of MM the problem continues...
After I flashed back to 5.1.1 the problem was not present. The VPN remained active after lock screen (overnight).
On Tuesday (monday night) the phone mysteriousely executed the 6.0.1 update that I had been receiving update messages for. I kept hitting remind me later, but it updated anyway. So tuesday I was working with MM. So I left the phone inactive for most of the day and then sent test msgs to a pop account and the the work account. No notifications received Once I hit the home button after a few seconds the pop nofications was received then the VPN notification appeared then the work notification was received. Clearly the phone is turning things off. I disabled all the apps in the doze section and repeated the test this morning. The pop account notified right away, the work account did not. a press of the home button, the vpn notification appears then the work notification. Clearly still a problem even on the official carrier release. I've sent my results to BB (support ticket) and will continue to work.
What confuses me is that none of this is new (hardware / software). I can't be the only one experiencing this problem. It might be limited to the S6 Active but that's a pretty populate device.. I have an open ticket with Blackberry so they should respond to this issue.

My phone is constantly being interrupted by this annoying popup: (I can't post links being a new user, but the image is at imgur FN7uUhL )
"Alert
Sorry, we're having trouble connecting. Make sure you have a good signal and try again. If you still can't connect, call us at 800-922-0204.
Error code 1001"
It doesn't say what app it is, but I suspect it's from Verizon because the phone number is theirs.
My phone is unlocked and I use it on Personal in Argentina. I've used this phone for years and this only started happening last Thursday out of nowhere. No new apps, no system upgrade.
Rebooting the phone doesn't help either, and I wouldn't want to factory reset if it can be avoided. Any ideas what this might be?
Thanks!
same, just today noticed this on an older LG G4
Alert Message - Same thing here...
Same thing here have had Moto E4 Plus on Metro PCS for the last few years and just started receiving this message in the last week. The phone was a Verizon phone that I unlocked and has been working great on Metro...until now. What's going on?

Same here on my note 4, using T-mo prepaid. Just started a week ago. Also the verizon splash screen still displays on power up. My understanding is the V boot loader is locked.

SOLVED I had the same problem as well but I found a way to get rid of it, you gotta disable the My Verizon app and then 1 settings then mobile networks then network mode and set the global off to LTE/GSM/UMTS and then it will not pop up anymore, your welcome.

Good news, I found the locations since I don't have "my verizon apps" Bad news, the fix does NOT work at all.
Solved
I actually got online with Motorola because I knew that the app causing this nightmare was Verizon Login . The problem is that I debloated all my Verizon and the problem still occurred. But then by going through Settings | Apps | ... |Show System, I say the bugger was still there. I disabled it and the problem was solved. Of course this worked for me because I'm on an unblocked phone and note using Verizon.
My husbands Samsung Galaxy S7 has been doing this for over a month. He tried disabling anything Verizon related and even a factory reset and it's still doing it.

Yes, I did same with my note 4, still there. IGNORE those solved posts, this problem is NOT solved. I use T-mobile prepaid with this phone and since verizon locks the boot loader, there is not yet a rooting solution for this phone and since it's a note 4 there will not be one forthcoming.
fixed it permanently
SOLVED: I have two Verizon phones that I now use on T-Mobile and this has worked for both.
Settings->Apps & Notifications->App Info (options may be slightly renamed on different versions of Android, may be Applications instead, just get to the big list of applications in the Settings app)
then hit the triple dot/menu thing to give extra options and choose Show System
Scroll down and choose Verizon Login and disable it and force stop it.
Message will be gone forever. I've rebooted both phones several times and the message has never come up again.
In addition, disable permissions of My Verizon: SMS, phone and GPS location, your welcome

So I have an old Verizon tablet that is running android 5.1.1. I don't have options for "show system" or "Verizon login" that I can find. Anybody familiar with this 5.1.1 that knows where it would be or if I'm overlooking. Thanks.
Awesome! I'm using an unlocked Verizon LG G5 in Canada and I've been trying for quite some time to get rid of this problem. I've tried all the suggested fixes I could find on the net and this is the solution! Thanks so much buddy. Much appreciated eh!
This problem started recently for me on Samsung S6 unlocked Verizon phone that I use with foreign SIM cards when traveling. I tried restoring settings to default, but that didn't work. Then I tried resetting network settings and that appears to have worked. it was popping up every couple minutes and so far it has not.
don't work

I had the same problem on my unlocked S6 Edge and knew that the Verizon Login app was the issue but the damn phone wouldn't let me disable it; grayed out. I bought an app in the Play Store named "Package Disabler Pro (Samsung)" for $2.99. The thing will let you disable ANY software whether built in or not. So once you launch, disable Verizon Login with it and the problem is gone. If you disable "Setup Wizard", you also won't get the stupid message about the SIM not being VZW card when you boot. I disabled all the other Verizon software too. Problem was so aggravating that I got an account here just to share the answer since I figure it has to be driving people CRAZY!!!!

Help!!!
Still having this issue, I’ve disabled all those apps, force stopped them, and it continues to haunt the phone. I’ve called Verizon and they don’t know anything about it, and I’m really about to throw the phone away and buy a new one. It’s an s7 so it’s still a decent phone, but I don’t know what else to do
So Close, but Disable is Disabled

This definitely got me closer. Using this method I was able to revoke permissions which forces VZ SpyLogin to fail so it isn't running, BUT, the "Disable" button is disabled, even if I force stop the app. It's most certainly this application causing the issue. Thanks for the closest solution.
**EXTRA info
This wasn't happening at all on my phone ever, and this is an old one (I need the IR blaster in the Samsung G6). It's an unlocked Verizon branded phone running on ATT network. I factory reset it yesterday and now I am getting this annoying Verizon Login nonsense.
I don't know how I ended up letting this issue last for so long but it has been happening for a good 3-4 months. It might have been after a firmware update, it might not. But at this point it's driving me coco-nuts.
Phone: Galaxy S21 Ultra 5G (SM-G998B/DS), using an e-sim.
Whenever I try to "actively" use my phone on cellular data (e.g. opening the Youtube app), without fail I will lose all connectivity and the "No Service" logo will show in the status bar. It takes 10-30secons to cycle back to having service, rinse, repeat. I get 2-3 seconds of working cellular data each cycle.
This doesn't happen if I don't try to "actively" use data. The phone holds service, I'll even receive Whatsapp Calls with no problem so long as I don't initiate them.
I've tried resetting network settings. I've also tried switching Network mode from "5G/4G/3G/2G (auto connect)" to the other options.
Any ideas?

It's likely a problem with your e-sim data plan. Have you tried using a normal sim?
I should've mentioned I tested it with a plastic sim from a different operator and the issue remained.
I had this same issue since Jan. A few S21U phones have it and it seems to be some kind of software + hardware issue that affects a small portion of the phones.
The OneUI 4.1 update should fix it. have you got this on your phone yet? If not you should see it soon.
Thread from the Samsung community forum. posts at the end from MattH665 is me, detailing my extremely frustrating ordeal with this issue:
Samsung account

Until you have the update, if you force your phone to 3G (assuming 3G isn't shut off where you are) then you might be able to get by. Mine worked fine on 3g (of course it's slow).

I had tried googling the issue using many, many keywords and was getting stumped with unrelated results.
Your "S21 Ultra reception fail" youtube video is basically exactly what was happening on my phone, albeit a bit faster to recover from the no service status.
And...... I basically got the notification for the OneUI 4.1 update around the same time I was notified of your response. The issue has disappeared altogether.
Thank you for bringing it up with the techs at Samsung. Don't know how long I could've held on to the device in this state.
As a side note to anyone reading this in the future, there was an update to the "Private Compute Services" app available as soon as the phone reboot from the OneUI 4.1 update. The 24th of March patch notes claim "operating system improvements and capabilities. Bug fixes and various optimizations.". That could also have been the fix.
Cheers.
